What is renewable Energy?
Why is it Important?
 Renewable energy is generally defined as
energy that comes from resources which are
naturally replenished on a human timescale
such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves
and geothermal heat.
 Renewable energy replaces conventional
fuels in four distinct areas: electricity
generation, hot water/space heating, motor
fuels, and rural energy services.

 Why Solar?
 Solar Power brings a much cleaner bright
new dawn and almost infinitely renewable
energy
 Sun’s energy is converted to the essential
electricity needed to light and power our
homes, to cook our meals and operate our
appliances, to energize our working lives and
leisure time.
 Immense potential throughout the world.
 Solar map of India is shown as a sample.

 Solar Power Generation Systems
begin with the solar module.
 The Solar PV modules generate
DC electricity - or direct current -
sending it to the inverter.
 The charge controller regulates
the charge of batteries.
 The inverter transforms the DC
power into AC electricity.
 Can be connected with the
existing power grid which opens
the option to sell excessive
electricity back to the grid

 Air has mass, and when it is in motion, it contains
the energy of that motion ("kinetic energy").
 A wind energy system transforms the kinetic
energy of the wind into mechanical or electrical
energy that can be harnessed for practical use .
 There are two basic designs
of wind electric turbines:
 vertical-axis, or "egg-beater"
style
 horizontal-axis (propeller-
style) machines.
 Horizontal-axis wind turbines
are most common today

 Wind Solar Hybrid Systems are highly reliable and economical power systems.
 Stand alone hybrid farms can easily supplement household power or provide
power to remote locations.
 Wind and solar energies are
complimentary throughout
the year hence highly
reliable.
 Designed and built using
wind generators and Solar PV
module.
 Can be used as stand alone
or grid connected systems.

 Wind Solar Hybrid Street Lighting Systems
are independent and stand alone systems.
 Does not require external wiring or
cabling.
 Economical to construct and maintenance
free.
 Available with various light sources like
High power LED, Metal Halide bulbs, Low
pressure sodium vapor bulbs or CFL bulbs.
 Equipped with a suitable wind generator
and sufficient Solar PV module.
 Automatic On-Off operation.
 Suitable for highways, parks, recreational
areas etc.
 The distinction of installing the first hybrid
street light in India for Tamil Nadu Tourism
at Rain Drop Boat house, Mudhaliar
Kuppam, Tamil Nadu.

 BioMethane is a renewable energy/fuel, with properties similar to
natural gas, produced from "biomass.“
 For ages, cow’s excreta traditionally have been used as manure in
the fields, but they are also a source of viable energy- bio gas,
which can reduce greenhouse emissions, significantly.
 Biomass has a lot of potential to reduce Carbon Footprint.

  • 2. What is renewable Energy? Why is it Important?
  • 3.  Renewable energy is generally defined as energy that comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat.  Renewable energy replaces conventional fuels in four distinct areas: electricity generation, hot water/space heating, motor fuels, and rural energy services. 3

  • 5.  Why Solar?  Solar Power brings a much cleaner bright new dawn and almost infinitely renewable energy  Sun’s energy is converted to the essential electricity needed to light and power our homes, to cook our meals and operate our appliances, to energize our working lives and leisure time.  Immense potential throughout the world.  Solar map of India is shown as a sample. 5
  • 6.  Solar Power Generation Systems begin with the solar module.  The Solar PV modules generate DC electricity - or direct current - sending it to the inverter.  The charge controller regulates the charge of batteries.  The inverter transforms the DC power into AC electricity.  Can be connected with the existing power grid which opens the option to sell excessive electricity back to the grid 6
  • 7.  Air has mass, and when it is in motion, it contains the energy of that motion ("kinetic energy").  A wind energy system transforms the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical or electrical energy that can be harnessed for practical use .  There are two basic designs of wind electric turbines:  vertical-axis, or "egg-beater" style  horizontal-axis (propeller- style) machines.  Horizontal-axis wind turbines are most common today 7
  • 8.  Wind Solar Hybrid Systems are highly reliable and economical power systems.  Stand alone hybrid farms can easily supplement household power or provide power to remote locations.  Wind and solar energies are complimentary throughout the year hence highly reliable.  Designed and built using wind generators and Solar PV module.  Can be used as stand alone or grid connected systems. 8

  • 10.  Wind Solar Hybrid Street Lighting Systems are independent and stand alone systems.  Does not require external wiring or cabling.  Economical to construct and maintenance free.  Available with various light sources like High power LED, Metal Halide bulbs, Low pressure sodium vapor bulbs or CFL bulbs.  Equipped with a suitable wind generator and sufficient Solar PV module.  Automatic On-Off operation.  Suitable for highways, parks, recreational areas etc.  The distinction of installing the first hybrid street light in India for Tamil Nadu Tourism at Rain Drop Boat house, Mudhaliar Kuppam, Tamil Nadu. 10
  • 11.  BioMethane is a renewable energy/fuel, with properties similar to natural gas, produced from "biomass.“  For ages, cow’s excreta traditionally have been used as manure in the fields, but they are also a source of viable energy- bio gas, which can reduce greenhouse emissions, significantly.  Biomass has a lot of potential to reduce Carbon Footprint. 11
