• Rapid development stage
• Kurt lewin – stage of contradictions

• Maximum development of internal and external
organs of the body
• Muscles grow – rounded shape
• Pubic hair
• Voice pattern of boys rough, girls soft & meek
• Menstruation period
• Teen age – sudden physical changes in the
body structure.
Sexual development
• a) Self love
Boys and girls love themselves and love their
own bodies.
• b) Homo-sexual
Teen agers are fond of sexual pleasure from
their own sex. Homo-sexuality is seen in some
cases
• c) Hetero –sexual
Teen agers of the opposite sex are attracted to
each other for sexual pleasure and enjoyment.
Mental Development
• Intelligence flourishes to the core during this
period
• Language development – Sharpe
• Power of observation, logical reasoning and
imagination, association, dissociation,
comparison, contrast, generation, problem
solving activity, decision making ability etc.
• Scientists, poets and philosophers emerge
during this period
Emotional development
• Period of joy and happiness
• He may laugh at one time, but at the same
time he sheds tears
• Highest emotional instability is seen in
this period
• Peer group – some times against teachers
and parents

• An adolescence desires to follow the
dictates of the group
• There should be natural ability to
understand the feeling of others
• He is eagerly interested in the opposite
sex
• Desire to adjust to social norms and
practices
Moral development
• An adolescent always dreams for
creation of an ideal society
• He talk about god, heaven, the meaning
of life
• Aim to serve society, and particularly to
the disabled and old age groups
Problems of Adolescents
• Emotional tension – uncontrollable & irrational
• Personal appearance (They very much worry
about personal appearance)
• Emanciapation (Parental close supervision on him)
• Search for identity
• Economic independence
• Educational problems (TV, Radio, love affairs,
sexual films etc)
• Adjustment problems (Parents, to his school, to his
peer, to his own life and to his family in total)

• Training for physical development
• Proper mental development
• Proper emotional development
• Knowledge about social relation
• Developing – Philosophy of life
• Religious and moral education
• Sex education
• Pre vocational Education
• Use of dynamic methods of teaching

Adolescence stage

  • 2. Adolescence (From 13 to 19) • Latin word adolescere – grow up • Rapid development stage • Kurt lewin – stage of contradictions • Stanely G.Hall – Stress and Strain
  • 4. Physical development • Maximum development of internal and external organs of the body • Muscles grow – rounded shape • Pubic hair • Voice pattern of boys rough, girls soft & meek • Menstruation period • Teen age – sudden physical changes in the body structure.
  • 5. Sexual development • a) Self love Boys and girls love themselves and love their own bodies. • b) Homo-sexual Teen agers are fond of sexual pleasure from their own sex. Homo-sexuality is seen in some cases • c) Hetero –sexual Teen agers of the opposite sex are attracted to each other for sexual pleasure and enjoyment.
  • 6. Mental Development • Intelligence flourishes to the core during this period • Language development – Sharpe • Power of observation, logical reasoning and imagination, association, dissociation, comparison, contrast, generation, problem solving activity, decision making ability etc. • Scientists, poets and philosophers emerge during this period
  • 7. Emotional development • Period of joy and happiness • He may laugh at one time, but at the same time he sheds tears • Highest emotional instability is seen in this period • Peer group – some times against teachers and parents
  • 8. Social development • An adolescence desires to follow the dictates of the group • There should be natural ability to understand the feeling of others • He is eagerly interested in the opposite sex • Desire to adjust to social norms and practices
  • 9. Moral development • An adolescent always dreams for creation of an ideal society • He talk about god, heaven, the meaning of life • Aim to serve society, and particularly to the disabled and old age groups
  • 10. Problems of Adolescents • Emotional tension – uncontrollable & irrational • Personal appearance (They very much worry about personal appearance) • Emanciapation (Parental close supervision on him) • Search for identity • Economic independence • Educational problems (TV, Radio, love affairs, sexual films etc) • Adjustment problems (Parents, to his school, to his peer, to his own life and to his family in total)
  • 11. Educational Implication • Training for physical development • Proper mental development • Proper emotional development • Knowledge about social relation • Developing – Philosophy of life • Religious and moral education • Sex education • Pre vocational Education • Use of dynamic methods of teaching • Guidance • Due responsibilities for the adolescence (Self Government)
