Adenomyosis
 Adenomyosis occurs when endometrial tissue
invade and grows into the muscular wall
(myometrium) of the uterus.

The endometrial tissue grows at specific
place in myometrium

 Heredity
 Trauma
 Hyperestrogenemia
 Viral transmission
Signs and symptoms
 Pelvic pain
 Diffusely enlarged uterus
 Secondary dysmenorrhea
 Abnormal uterine bleeding
 Tenderness during menstruation
 Hyperemic flow
 Thickend uterine walls

 The Enlarged uterus without focal mass
 Typical finding is the presence of small
myometrial cyst
 myometrium with ill-defined border
 endometrium displacement
 Small blood containing spaces in uterus can
be seen
Differential Diagnosis
 Sometimes Uterine fibrioids can be confused
with Adenomyosis
 Fibroids have well circumscribed margins
but Adenomyosis have less circumscribed
 Fibroids appears more regular than
Adenomyosis
one is Adenomyosis & other is Fibroid
Treatment
 Harmone therapy
 Hysterectomy is the successful treatment
