Just Dance
Genre- Simulator, Party, Fitness game
Content- Songs/IP/Use of known songs.
It’s surreal, positive, enthusiastic, vibrantly colourful whist also being very
diverse and inclusive of all demographics
Construction- Very large, clear interface with minimal instructions to follow,
making for a very simple initiative to follow/mimic, whilst being very linear,
lacking in anything other than the standard dancing
Narrative Conventions- Links in with the use of popular songs at the time of
the game being released
Common Codes- Mimicking an animated character on screen, keeping in time
with them, in time with the song in order to score points or a star ranking by
the end of the track.
Profiling- It can have a large audience from people who have never played
before and could be trying it for themselves, or presenting it to friends in a
party.
But people who want to exercise or simply practice dancing can play it just as
simply to.
The Last of Us
Genre- Action/adventure (Sub genres; Survival/Horror)
Content- Post apocalyptic and weathered setting with dark dirty settings being
boasted by eerie music where necessary making jump scares more common.
Construction- Linear, story based narrative game based on infection and
people losing their lives.
Narrative conventions- Expect near death/death situations within the game
which will twist and turn the story line in some way.
Common Codes- Using initiative to be resourceful and know what you do and
don’t need within the game.
Profiling- This game could be aimed more towards males with the aspect of
zombies and shooting but that doesn’t make female players of the game
unknown, it would typically appeal more to males in their teens and young
adults, around 15-25/30.
