Corn, also known as maize, has been grown in Australia for over 150 years and is used in many products. There are over 3,500 uses for corn including food and drink items like popcorn, corn flakes, sweet corn, juices, and soft drinks. While corn grows naturally in fields, it is now unlikely to be found growing in the wild. Australia exports corn and soybeans to countries in Asia with increasing demand, including Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia. Japan alone imports almost half a million tonnes of soybeans for tofu each year. Australia also imports soybeans and some soybean products from other countries.
