Active cruise control (ACC) is an advanced driver assistance system that automatically adjusts a vehicle's speed to maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead. It uses sensors like radar or lasers to detect the distance and speed of surrounding vehicles, then uses the brake and throttle to keep the vehicle a safe distance back. ACC operates in either cruise mode to maintain a set speed, or follow mode to maintain a set distance. While increasing safety and fuel efficiency, ACC does not provide full autonomy and is not suitable for heavy traffic situations.
