The Stigma Of Bipolar Disorder Essay
Cory Murphy Composition 101 Professor Tanya Vanderlinde 11 Dec. 2016 Eliminate the Stigma
When a seventh grader at Frederick Area High School in Frederick, South Dakota, was asked to
describe what bipolar disorder is, he said that it refers to people that change personalities fast
(McGaugh). However, this is only a common misconception. Though the word bipolar is often used in
conversations to describe a person that has mood swings, bipolar disorder actually refers to a serious
mental illness. According to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, about 2.6 percent of
American adults suffer from a form of bipolar disorder, and about one in five people with bipolar
disorder commits suicide. Despite the impact that bipolar disorder has on the lives of patients and
families alike, it is treated casually by people across the United States. Even though many treat it
flippantly, bipolar disorder is a serious mental ailment, and the public needs to have a greater
understanding of it. There is a dark stigma surrounding mental illness in general, and bipolar disorder
is no exception. According to the Mental Health Commission of Western Australia, a stigma is a mark
of disgrace that sets someone apart. Bipolar disorder is incredibly misunderstood by society at large,
which leads to this stigma, prejudice, and discrimination. In everyday conversation, the word bipolar
is frequently used to describe how someone is feeling at that moment. If a person is sad one moment

Alpha-Beta Exercise Hr595 Essay
Journal Entry 3 Alpha Beta Exercise Beta Group BACKGROUND The name of this negotiation
exercise is ALPHA BETA. The goal of this negotiation is to stay within character and gain as much
information from the other side as possible. The uncertainties confronted were how to lead the
negotiation as a Betan. The skills that we will try to exhibit are trying to embody the style and culture
of the Betans. Our opponents, Alpha Inc., were prepared with their demands. They seemed to have
researched our culture and were not susceptible to them. We did not reach a settlement, our goal was
to remain in character and gather as much information as possible. ANALYSIS Our BATNA for this
simulation was 4 different models, 250 units to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The face saving behavior that was displayed was when we offered to pay for a limo and hotel for
Alpha so that we have more time. POST NEGOTIATION REFLECTION In this negotiation, we
learned that it is important to research your opponent, to understand their culture, not only of their
country or backgrounds, but also their company culture. When we are able to understand our opponent
s way of thinking about business and doing business we can then understand how to approach a
negotiation situation with them. In this exercise, we learned that it is difficult for us to adjust when it
involves breaking or acting in a way opposite of what we are accustomed to. We also learned that
although my classmates live in the same country as we do, their upbringings may have similarities to
their origin country and will therefore help them to communicate and adjust to that country s norms
and standards. We were surprised how we were able to stay in character although it was hard and it
was surprising how people responded when they were unaware of your intentions and strategies. If we
had to do this exercise again, what we can do is do more research on our opponents so that we would
have an idea of what to expect in the negotiation table. LAST ENTRY By taking this course, we have
learned the different types of negotiations and the strategies to be used in

Pascua Lama Project
Chile like many other Latin American Countries have adopted their own Environmental Impact
Assessment (EIA) systems. However, many including Chile s legal framework governing EIA lacks
power. Developing their organizational capacity to take full advantage of the potential of EIA as a tool
to manage complex social and environmental situations is something they could also improve. The US
s EIA system differs from Chile s EIA system. In Chile, the EIA is defined as an administrative
procedure geared towards ensuring compliance with environmental legislation. (ifc,pp 10) Under
NEPA, EIA is described as a process to incorporate the environmental and social concerns of different

Caffeine Experiment Lab Report
Materials and Methods
The planaria were placed in 1 petri dish, 18ml of pond water for storage, after the collection. The
planaria were separated into groups designated by a labeled petri dish. 1 planaria group was placed in
a petri dish filled with 18ml of pond water. Another group, the control group was placed in another
petri dish prepared in the same fashion. Each group of planaria was fed each Friday, although most of
the first group died from unclean dishes, human error, which necessitated the sampling of a second
group. During each experiment, 2 planaria from the control group were placed in a petri dish filled
with pond water, while 2 from the treatment group were prepared in a petri dish filled with pond water
and 2ml of caffeine. The Planaria were observed 5 times, once every 7 days, allowing them to recover
from the effects of the caffeine each week before testing in a new trial, for unbiased data. The

The Pros And Cons Of Super Power
Many of us since we are little, imagine what it would be like to have super powers. Not only that, but
we also put into consideration which superpower would be the best, and why. Every time someone
asks which super power you think is the best you actually start to carefully list cons and pros in order
to get to the best super power. If I were to choose a super power, which one would I chose? I would
probably choose teleportation, also known as, teletransportation. I would choose this super power
because I could travel wherever I wanted to go. Not only would I be capable of doing that, but also I
would be able to do it without wasting any money. Unless you decide to walk, every other method of
transportation has a cost, but if you have teleportation you would be able to move places in a free way,
and also a lot faster. You could also get there in a matter of seconds. Say for example, you have an
emergency, and you need to get fast somewhere, for instance the hospital, you could simply teleport
there. You would save a lot of time that could probably save your life. ... Show more content on

If you decide to use teleportation a difficulty you may encounter with is the following: you will find
yourself unable to enjoy the trip, for example the car ride to your beach house, the airplane flight to
another country, etc. For some people the trip is what really matters to them, not the destination. Of
course, if you are one of these type of people then you won t think of teleportation as a great super
power. Most people care only about getting somewhere fast and without wasting too much money, if
you are one of these type of people, then you will definitely enjoy this super power. Besides that there
really is no other limit in this great super power. If you compare and contrast the cons and pros it s
pretty obvious that this superpower has a lot more pros than cons, therefore making this a great super

Detriments of Colonization
During the nineteenth century, Britain took control over Nigeria and India and tried to established an
industrialized society. After analyzing the impact of British colonization on the two different countries
of India and Nigeria, one can see how the impact of their control negatively affected the culture and
indigenous people of these countries in regards to their economy, religion, social institutions and
hierarchy, and political and government institutions.
To begin, colonization is establishing control over a country and their indigenous people. British
colonization occurred in the 19th century in India. During this time period, India was introduced into a

The British introduced Africans to democracy and a powerful leader instead of a traditional council.
The African people intertwined their beliefs with their religion. Their gods dominated their political
beliefs and set up a social hierarchy within their tribes but when Christianity was introduced to their
culture, the natives were forced to be ruled under their one king, which is completely different from
how the Natives ruled. Socially the Africans were subjected to British influence as well. For example,
in the Ibo culture, Polygamy was often practiced by men and women. This happens between man and
wife and is a culture in which man can have more than one wife. This practice was quickly outlawed
by the christian missionaries.
Overall, Things Fall Apart exhibits the detrimental effects on the native Nigerian people during
colonization. Achebe shows the consequences of being forced into a new way of life and the complete
change in traditional Nigerian lifestyle and influences of every aspect of their culture in regards to

has been consistently reducing. The endeavors needed in accomplishing the wanted output can be
effectively and economically be reduced by the usage of better designs.
Power screws are utilized to change over rotatory movement into translatory motion. A screw jack is
an illustration of a power screw in which a little force implemented in an horizontal plane is utilized to
raise or bring down the load. The principle on which it works is like that of a inclined plane. The
avantage of using a mechanical screw jack is the proportion of the load applied to the effort applied.

The Horror Of A Horror Movie And Me
A few months ago, I brought a horror film to life. The only difference between the main character of a
horror movie and me is, the main character can run. Looking at the real world through the dream
world seems impossible, but sleep paralysis can do that and so much more. The most terrifying night
of my life started as I was just falling asleep. I could feel my body giving in to the night and my
eyelids becoming heavy, however they maintained open against my will. To maybe shake myself out
of it, I tried to force myself to sit up; seeing how my legs did not respond to my brains request, I
attempted to try a simpler task, like moving my fingers. Nothing was happening, not a muscle would
budge. I wanted to yell for help but my mouth was glued shut and my vocal chords had failed me. In
less than a second I lost all control over my physical self. For all I had known, I had become a
vegetable for the rest of my life. My heart was sinking. As if things were not already horrible enough,
I began to feel an evil presence in my bedroom. When I looked up, standing directly in front of me
was a girl who was staring at me so intensely, it was as if she was burning holes through me. I quickly
recognized that she was no one other than myself. Everything about her was like me, even the way her
lips curved slightly downward. Her posture and demeanor, however, made her look like she was
demonized. Afraid for my life, I asked her multiple times if she was being possessed by some

Execution Methods In The Holocaust
Execution Methods used in the Holocaust
When the Holocaust is mentioned most people immediately think of the concentration camps. They
predict scrawny people in dirty striped uniforms staring closely as the others are numerously getting
buried, or being bulldozed into mass graves. Those horrific scenes were real but they are not the entire
Holocaust. There were other methods of execution throughout the
Holocaust but the use of gas chambers was by far the most common. The Holocaust was the best
wellordered case of persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi party. The Nazis came to
power in Germany on January 1933, they believed that Germans were racially superior and that the

Civil Disobedience And Obedience In Sir Isaiah Berlin
Sir Isaiah Berlin in his essay enriches ideals of liberty articulated by earlier political philosophers. His
essay starts with the central question of politics which has long been conflicting. This question is
about coercion and obedience. Obedience is reflected by the question why should I,or anyone, obey
anyone else? and coercion by must I obey and and if I disobey may I be coerced? To answer this
question he defines two branches of liberty i.e. positive and negative liberty and each of these two
addresses a particular question. In Berlin s view these questions seem to be different but their answers
can be same in some respects.
Negative sense of liberty is related to the area in which a man can act without interference of other
human beings and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
now here an important question arises that what should be the limits to the man s free action and if a
boundary is drawn between an individual s own life and public authority, where should it be?
Concepts of positive sense of liberty come from the wish of own master of an individual. as one can
see it is not freedom from but freedom to freedom. These concepts seem very close to each other but
Berlin states that in various directions, these ideas have developed and ended up with quarrels among
each other.. In Berlin s view, notions of freedom have arisen from concepts of what constitutes a
person but in my opinion, altering the definition of what it is to be a man one can change the definition
of freedom into a desired one.
Berlin puts his opinion about freedom as liberating oneself from wishes that he cannot fulfill. He
further states that if one cannot change the surrounding conditions according to one s necessities, one
should change oneself but in my opinion, this conclusion of Berlin will make the definition of
negative liberty not to work. for e.g. if one can do atleast something to fulfill his wish,he need only
reduction of his wish.

Freud s Theory Of Human Sexuality
As we know, the practice of sexual behavior is perceived differently by diverse worldviews and
consists of a wide range of activities (Hyde DeLamater, 2014). There has been a number of debates on
whether or not the nature of human sexuality can be developed through genetics, imitated through
socialization, influenced by unconscious decisions or if it can be altered after childhood. There are a
variety of theories that have been created to help understand the uncertainty of how human sexuality is
developed. Uncovering the influence of neuroscience on sexuality and evaluating the appropriateness
of Sigmund Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory, Albert Bandura s Modeling Theory and Carl Roger s
Person Centered Theory on addressing Maria s sexual problems will be analyzed as well as their
contribution to our understanding of human sexuality.
Theory Identification
Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic theory is one out of four major theories that have contributed to
relevancy of human sexuality. Freud coined the notion that irrational forces, unconscious motivations,
biological and instinctual drives that evolve over time are the cause for human behavior (Corey, 2013).
Freud believed that parent child interactions within childhood develops a person s unique character
type. In childhood pleasure is maximized to satisfy the demands of the id impulses, while the parent s
main focus is integrating the demands of reality and the concept of what is right and wrong. Human

Factors that Shaped the Invention and Development of Television in the UK Up to 1939
In this essay I intend to discuss the factors that shaped the invention and development of television in
the UK up to 1939; these include the social, cultural, political and scientific factors that took place as
well as the many technological changes. I will then conclude by determining the most important
aspects of its development.
Technological developments ==========================
The essence of the television began in the early nineteenth century with the development of the
telephone and the telegraph. These communication devices can be seen as a more technical version to

During the early 1930 s a rivalry erupted between a new broadcasting company, EMI (Electrical and
Musical Industries Ltd) and Baird s company (Baird Television Ltd), and so the Selsdon Committee
was founded by the British Government to settle the dispute. This committee decided that it would be
the BBC who would regulate between broadcasters and would use a transmission scanning system of
240 lines. In November 1936 regular television broadcasts began and with the more efficient
broadcasts of EMI (using scanning of 240 lines), as opposed to Baird Television Ltd (using only
scanning of 120 lines), EMI became the dominant leader of the two.
By the year 1938 five thousand television sets had been sold and in a period of one year this grew to
eighteen thousand. Still, on a national scale, this was only showing the small interest in purchasing a
television set and was due to the high price of manufacture as well as its high purchase price. The
weak transmissions were also initially accountable for the lack of interest as not many areas of the
U.K. were able to receive the signal what was the point in purchasing a set when it couldn t be
watched anyway?
The television might have taken on an entirely different form. Akin to the telephone it could have been

American Foreign Policy And The Education System
When Noam Chomsky speaks about education, he referred to it as an imposed ignorance . Thoughts
on Intellectuals and The School is written by world renowned linguist, Noam Chomsky as a response
to the issues of Western education and the impact it has in the lives of the intellectuals and scholars.
Chomsky is noting that intellectuals often cared more about attaining power than exposing the lies and
truth. With that, he provided examples from the failure of the American Foreign Policy and decision
making system to which the intellectual community fails to contribute its opinions to social issues, and
instead, disdained from it. Furthermore, Chomsky suggested that schools should provide more

We believe that if with knowledge, comes power, and with power comes a great responsibility,
Chomsky was right that what mattered most was not the American intellectuals offering their
allegiance to the country, but rather exercising their power to challenge the effectiveness of the
individuals who represent their nation.
Chomsky criticized how the American education system is portraying the country as a dominant
power and treating the rest of the world as an American preserve. As such, there is the the justification
of unethical behaviors that can affect American student s perspectives of their superiority toward other
country. Chomsky regarded this circumstances as a national disgrace toward American education
system. Due to the fact that schools are the fundamental ground for future candidates of intellectuals,

By way of example, history educators have glossed over several facts that certain historical events left
a bad mark in history. Such as, the Napoleonic War where thousands of Europeans are killed. It is that
debates regarding Napoleon s legitimacy and moral ethical dilemma are rarely discussed, and history
are rather seen as a win or lose situation between two nations at war. This view is very narrow and

Norman Rockwell s Artistic Success And Tragic Passing Of...
Norman Rockwell, a name most have heard if not learned, when the topic of art was ever brought up,
was a famous artist and illustrator who depicted the highs and lows of the common man. His art is
loved by many today as it was decades ago. Many have seen his work be it online, at an art museum or
in an art history book and have been intrigued by his art. I will be covering the early life, artistic
success and tragic passing of the great artist, Norman Rockwell.
Born in New York City on February 3 of year 1894, Norman Perceval Rockwell was destined for fame

It had been Rockwell s dream to do a cover for the Post magazine. Although not having an
appointment, he showed his work to the editor hoping for the best. The editor acknowledged and
accepted Rockwell s two finished works as covers and three other sketches for future covers. His
dream had in fact became a reality and this was just the start of a long relationship Norman would
have with the iconic magazine, a 47 year relationship to be exact. In total, he painted over 320 covers
for the Post. Rockwell s victory with the magazine won him interest by other magazines which in turn
led him to begin selling his paintings and drawings. One of his best and most memorable covers was
the 1927 celebration of Charles Lindbergh s crossing of the Atlantic. Another magazine that he
worked for was Look, which featured his cover capturing the imprint of Neil Armstrong s foot on the
moon s surface after the successful moon landing in 1969.
The 1930s and 40s were the best eras for Rockwell. In 1930, he married a second time to a woman
named Mary Barstow. Mary was a schoolteacher, and together her and Rockwell had three sons:
Jarvis, Peter and Thomas. The family moved over to Arlington, Vermont, in 1939. There was a whole
new and exciting world that was now at Norman s feet that offered the right material for the artist to
pick from. Much of Rockwell s success came from his appreciation for just everyday American

Romantic Impact On Napoleon
Napoleon Bonaparte and the wars he fought against Great Britain, the conveniently named Napoleonic
Wars had a lasting and profound impact on British citizens and society. Napoleon for a brief period
had transformed a nation of anarchy and instability into the most powerful empire in Europe and
posed a serious threat to Britain s perceived dominance and invulnerability. The fear of a Napoleonic
invasion spread across Britain, an event that had it been realised may have been welcomed by many
within the nation. The French general turned emperor was unquestionably the British governments
most imposing enemy but there were many individual Britons who held Napoleon in much higher
esteem than their own monarch/Regent. The British nation was divided ... Show more content on

He notes that the Lake poets originally revered Napoleon but as the wars continued they became
increasingly conservative and critical of him. He recalls that William Wordsworth s primary reason for
his disillusionment with Napoleon was his 1804 coronation, other Romantics such as Samuel Taylor
Coleridge however, were not so clear about their reasons for resenting Napoleon and Stock states that
this inability to decide upon a definitive opinion characterizes the Romantic understanding of
Bonaparte because the transition from reverence to hatred was so extreme and unexpected. Like
radicals and loyalists, the Romantics also offered different interpretations of Napoleon in their works
especially on the concept of his humanity . Coleridge, Walter Scott and Robert Southey believed
Napoleon to be an innovative politician and therefore, very human, while Percy Bysshe Shelley too
regarded Napoleon as human but believed his political genius was a fallacy as he merely reverted
France back to monarchy; whereas Lord Byron considered Napoleon to be a metaphysical being.
Stock states that the Romantics also make quite extensive use of Satan when interpreting Napoleon
and Coleridge and Scott classify him as evil incarnate to the point where they desire his death. Stock
argues that some Roamntics such as William Hazlitt used the Satanic image of Napoleon to personify
him as a revolutionary figure inverting political norms. Despite previously denigrating him as a mere
politician, Coleridge too personifies Napoleon as a presence rather than a human being and Stock
states Hazlitt celebrates Napoleon as an Idea not an

Genesis 34:1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the
daughters of the land. This was shown that Dinah has the curiosity inside her heart. Some of the books
mention that was because Dinah grew as a teenager or youth that ... Show more content on

The World Acceptance
If Jacob did not stay in that city, perhaps the terrible thing will not happen to Dinah. Since Dinah also
still live in the flesh, she wanted the world acceptance. She dresses the same kind of the city girls at
that place, which Josephus relates that she went to attend a festival at Shechem. Even the Bible didn t
mention how Dinah dressed herself, we can imagine how she wanted same with the dressing of city
girl which look beautiful. Edith Deen imagine Dinah ... In graceful tunic style dress of a soft pastel
colour, in the tones of the early flowers. Perhaps she was also wearing a veil that fell softly across her
face...
This world promises the good thing about life in this earth, the popularity, many friends, the riches.
But follow the world, is followed into the destruction of life. As Dinah wore the same dressing as the
Sheckem city girls; she got the consequence that Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of
the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her (Gen. 34:2). He thought she was a
common harlot.

Interpersonal Relationship With My Family
Practical Example of Theory My family happens to be deeply religious, conservative and often closed
minded about certain aspects of life. In other words, everything that they tend to support and believe
in as a family unit, tends to be something I can not personally agree with. As anyone can imagine, this
has deeply affected my interpersonal relationship with my family in a negative impact. As an adult, I
have come to my own conclusions about my personal beliefs about life and what those entail for
myself. These beliefs are usually the exact opposite of what I grew up with, much to the
disappointment of my family which has created a deep divide between us. This has probably affected
my relationship with my father the most, as he has always been the most outspoken about his
disappointment.
For my father this has been rather difficult to accept because to him, I have violated my family s
beliefs by turning my back on religion and wanting no part of it in my personal life. It is simply
something he can not comprehend, to him it means turning my back on my family and everything I
have known. Years ago when I was a teenager, I confided in him that I wanted nothing to do with the
church anymore and he chalked it up to teenage youth. Nowadays, my interpersonal relationship with
my father has been strained because he has finally understood that I had actually been serious all
along. In fact, when it was brought up again when I was an adult and when I had given him the same

The Church Of Columbus By Alice Lavern Riles
Pastored in 1952 by Alice Lavern Riles, known as Mother Sheppard, The Church of Columbus
remains today within the city of Columbus, Georgia. From a tiny building on 49th Street, to the over a
million dollar facility today, The Church of Columbus has gone through its share of change. Growing
up, the church was called the First United Pentecostal Church, but once the church moved locations,
Pastor renamed it The Church of Columbus. Located on 2001 Double Churches Road, there lies my
second home, with its grand 36,000 square feet structure. Growing up, I was always at the church,
whether it was for practice, or just to play sports such as volleyball and football with my lifelong
friends that I had made throughout my attendance at the church. According the church s website, the
church has grown from a Sunday morning attendance of sixty one in 1985, to a consistent attendance
of over 400 in 2013 (The Church of Columbus). The church s motto is Loving all to Christ . The motto
refers to the church s ultimate goal of reaching the 290,000 souls of the Columbus, Phenix City, Fort
Benning area (The Church of Columbus). A church member, Lisa Gail Stringer Johnson described the
church; The first thing you feel when you walk through the doors is an outpouring of Love and God s
presence. I am extremely grateful that I have such a tremendous place to call my second home. Filled
with different shades of blue, red, and cream, the church was particularly constructed with careful

The Spiritual Practice Of Sabbath
My life is full of habits. And a lot of them. Some of them are really good habits, but, unfortunately,
some of them are really bad. One of the bad habits I ve become accustomed to over the years is
working myself to my breakpoint and not taking a chance to breathe. More than that I tend to keep
busy way more often than I should be some simply over just trivial things. That is why I decided to
choose the spiritual practice of Sabbath where I took one 24 hour period in my week and dedicated it
to simply rest and rejuvenate and nothing more. Now by rest, I don t necessarily mean sleep, a lot of
times it was just doing what brings me pleasure and replenishes me instead of exhausting myself, or
giving to me, instead of taking from me.
Although I have heard people talking about the Sabbath growing up multiple times, I have never heard
it phrased like it was in this class: as a spiritual formative practice. To my dismay, that was all it has
been until this class. My extent of knowledge about Sabbath had only came from some of what I ve
read about it in the Bible. That was when the Jews practiced Sabbath as commanded under the Mosaic
Law, given to them when they were in the wilderness. Exodus 20:8 10 shares, Remember the Sabbath
day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to
the LORD your God. The Jews were allowed to do no work on this day, marked as Friday evening
until Saturday evening on the Jewish calendar.

The Goal Setting And Attainment
Unit One Essay
Goal setting and attainment appears to be a straightforward proposal. You simply come up with an
obtainable goal and then you work hard to make it a reality. To begin with I give myself short term
and long term goals to achieve. Before I joined the Army my short term goal was to achieve the rank
of Sergeant (E 5). My next short term goal wasn t to just achieve the next rank of Staff Sergeant (E 6)
I wanted to aim a little higher and make Sergeant First Class (E 7) within eight years, which I did. My
long term goal was to ultimately make it to the rank of Sergeant major (E 9). This goal is going to be
harder to achieve, but I know as long as I work hard I will achieve that goal. Goals are great, but
without follow through these goals will never come to fruition. By breaking down goals into smaller
goals a person will gain confidence and can eventually turn those small term goals in long term goals.
I knew that I could not just jump to Sergeant Major and that s why I set small short term goals to
achieve that rank. What is going to make me successful not only in my career, but also in my everyday
life is accomplishing one short term goal at a time. To obtain a Goal it requires steps or processes to
achieve the desired outcome which, according to Tim Harford, includes failure.
In Tim Harford s book Adapt he accepts that in the path to success don t be afraid to fail in the
process. The consequence of disappointment makes versatility, which is a key

Essay on Toyota s Supply Chain Q A
Problem
In January 2010, some of the Toyota, Lexus and Pontiac vehicles were recalled because of problems
about defective accelerator pedals made from CTS Corporation, a leading automotive supplier in
North America, Europe, and Asia. The problems are related to the friction inside the moving part of
the units that controls the pedal to return as soon as the pressure on the pedal is released. This friction
should be designed to consistently corresponsive to the pressure on the pedal, in both pressed and
released positions, so that the drivers can smoothly control the speed of the vehicles. It is thought that
the condensation caused by cold weather is one of the reasons that lead to an increase of the friction.
Another reason is related to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though CTS controverted that it created the gas pedals as the specification given by Toyota, the
gas pedals of vehicles which are assembled with other suppliers do not have any problem. Ferrari
States that Toyota and CTS have participated in developing a new pedal to meet a Toyota specification
(Ferrari, 2010). Therefore, because of the faulty of outsourcing, it enables the large number of Toyota
and Lexus was recalled.
Solution
As a result of the sticky gas pedals, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or NHTSA
(2010) indicates that Toyota has recalled the affected vehicles including 2.3 million. The owners of the
involved vehicles may have their gas pedals repaired, free of charge, at any Toyota dealers to prevent
the possible problems. Each dealer is provided with the necessary parts and training to effectively deal
with the problems. In the case of the existing units, the gas pedals will be modified to quickly fix the
problems related to the increased friction inside the units. There is a spring inside the assembly that
responsible for the pedal to return when the pressure is released. With the buildup friction, it will take
longer time for the spring to move the pedal back to the non accelerated position. A reinforcement bar
made of precision cut steel will be inserted behind the spring to

Narrative Self Analysis Of Academic Decorum
Academic Decorum
Academic Decorum explained:
As a student of any kind, the key to success is to follow the aspects of academic decorum. Being
prepared for every class, engaging in class activities, and caring for your fellow students all represent
good qualities of academic decorum. When student, enter class looking like they just woke up from a
week long nap, it not only affects them, but who they are around. I have witnessed many events when
someone sees another not trying, which changes the attitude of student who might have been excited
to learn, into not wanting to even be there. The same applies outside of campus. If a kid is interested in
football, but his friends disagree and spent all their time playing video games, that kid will gradually
turn away from sports and follow who he is surrounded by. Not only will the student be affected now,
but it will change the way he acts in the future. When someone always sees others not putting in any
effort in school, he will incrementally follow his peers and get in the habit of not trying. If a student is
always engaged and willing to do what it takes to succeed, being an academic decorum, it will have a
very positive effect in their future.
Narrative Self Analysis: When I attend school, I tend to be relatively quiet. I will contribute to class
discussions and other group activities, but I m not one to distract others from the academic decorum
environment. Following the rules of academic decorum include turning papers in

The Great Betrayal By Modi And The Bjp
The Great Betrayal Act by Modi and the BJP is slowly but steadily unfolding. Credibility is rapidly
diminishing amongst majority of his followers, admirers, supporters and sympathizers. By aggressive
speech making during poll campaigning, Modi had endeared himself to the Aam Aadmi , particularly
sections of the Middle Class, by raising Great Expectations and hopes among them by Ache Din Aane
Wale Hain slogan. Modi s high decibel campaign promises included: Good Governance Simple and
Smart governance through transparency ; stemming the rot corruption, particularly in high places;
controlling price rise and inflation; upholding dignity and self respect of women; countering LoC
violations and terror acts firmly; and many others like One Rank One Pension etc., reduced to print in
the BJPs 2014 Election manifesto. A brief review of happenings during the last two months of Modi s
governance provide clear signals on what to expect in posterity. Transparency is the foremost pre
requisite for Good Governance Simple and Smart governance. Modi has also retracted into what was
derisively hailed during the UPA rule as Man Mohan Singh silent mode. After becoming PM, Modi
has insulated himself from the media glare. Even on the social media network, he is no longer as
aggressive and communicative on key issues as he was during the pre election orchestra. Why is Modi
sulking away from media glare? Is he afraid to face the media and answer questions on various key
issues?

prevention, and health education strategies for promoting healthy lifestyles. In the student s opinion
the purpose is to educate and change how the American public perceives information pertaining to
communicable diseases. Without a doubt there is a need to educate the public about how diseases can
affect social and economic conditions. For example people can do simple things to keep germs from
entering their body while in public places like keeping their hands away from their face to be sure they

Vernacular Architecture Identity Essay

How is identity shaped through our design, production and use of architecture?
Theme The idea of the vernacular architecture as identity
The search for a cogent Australian architectural idiom.
The idea of the vernacular is strong in Australian architecture and is often defined in terms of the city
and the bush .
Central Questions: What is vernacular Architecture? Has there ever been and Australian architecture?
Part 1. In search of a critical framework to define Australian Architectural Identity (Is this required?)

Memmot (2007) explains how Indigenous building methods, based on semi permanent structures
utilized original styles, local materials and, like their culture. They were poetically wedded to the
distinct sense of place for which this isolated continent is renowned. Indigenous architecture is pure
vernacular (Memmot 2007). While this is respectfully acknowledged, this essay will examine the
period after European settlement, during which Australian architecture has sourced the bulk of
materials and styles internationally and has never been purely vernacular (Drew 2006). For example,
while corrugated iron is seen as Australian it was produced in the steel mills in England and heavily
used throughout Britain and the British Empire. Drew (2006) discusses how it is accepted that since
1788, Australian vernacular buildings have always contained a plethora of international influences
both stylistic and material and were never truly original or unique in the same manner of Indigenous
vernacular shelters. Consequently, the aim is to find architecture which possesses vernacular elements
that overshadow the universal, international elements. To substantiate the arguments and isolate a
period in Australia s history, two case studies from the Mid 20th century will be examined The Rose
Seidler House (figure 2), by Harry Seidler and the Curry House 2 (figure 3), by Bruce Rickard.

The Pros And Cons Of Quantum Leap
According to Asbhy (1999), revitalizaton defined as the change that implements in Quantum Leap,
that is a big leap that is not only including gradation or incremental, but straight to the target which
much different from the initial condition. In this case, revitalization on the traditional market means to
reactivate the traditional market which once was vital, but experience degredation. It can be a slum
traditional market with low infrastructure to modern market, or displacement to a better location. The
reactivation should be in a big scale such as renovationg thoroughly to improve every aspect from the
market itself.
In revitalization, there are 3 stages:
1. Physical Intervention
This aspect is where phisycal aspect needs to be renovated because it is accordance to the public

The revitalization of the market is the attempt made the market increasingly better to improve
consumer appeal to traditional markets. However, the city government policy is often half measures

767, Dean Thornton, the program s vice president general manager, faced a critical decision. For
several years, Boeing had lobbied the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for permission to build
wide bodied aircraft with two , rather than three person cockpits. Permission had been granted late in
July. Unfortunately, the 767 had originally been designed with a three person cockpit, and 30 of those

Buyers primarily the 50 leading airlines around the world used that knowledge to enhance their

when airlines that had been making steady profits began losing large sums of money. Cost savings

The Pros And Cons Of Free Trade
Free trade is a capitalist concept that advocates for a seamless and free flow of goods and services that
is virtually unhindered by state imposed restrictions or trade barriers. Over the years, the American
government has signed multiple agreements with governments across the world, to encourage trade
between the continental United States and other countries around the globe. Indeed, bilateral
agreements ranging from AGOA, NAFTA, and TPP have been signed by successive Washington
administrations, ostensibly to encourage Americans to reap financial benefits from global trade. The
open and free trade idea is anchored on the maxim that no country possesses all the services and
products that it needs, at any given time. Countries across the Americas fro instance and by extension
globally have seen a proliferation in the number of treaties and preferential trade agreements by
economies to boost trade. In this regard, some countries are well endowed with extensive natural
resources such as oil, gas, and gold, while others may lack them but still need to use these resources.
Nevertheless, the sovereign is permitted under international trade laws to impose certain levels of
trade restrictions for valid reasons such as protecting its infant industries and taming dumping of
substandard goods. In this regard, the world is moving towards protectionism with scores of countries
imposing tariff and non tariff barriers as well as the complete ban of certain class of goods from
overseas or

  • 2. The Stigma Of Bipolar Disorder Essay Cory Murphy Composition 101 Professor Tanya Vanderlinde 11 Dec. 2016 Eliminate the Stigma When a seventh grader at Frederick Area High School in Frederick, South Dakota, was asked to describe what bipolar disorder is, he said that it refers to people that change personalities fast (McGaugh). However, this is only a common misconception. Though the word bipolar is often used in conversations to describe a person that has mood swings, bipolar disorder actually refers to a serious mental illness. According to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, about 2.6 percent of American adults suffer from a form of bipolar disorder, and about one in five people with bipolar disorder commits suicide. Despite the impact that bipolar disorder has on the lives of patients and families alike, it is treated casually by people across the United States. Even though many treat it flippantly, bipolar disorder is a serious mental ailment, and the public needs to have a greater understanding of it. There is a dark stigma surrounding mental illness in general, and bipolar disorder is no exception. According to the Mental Health Commission of Western Australia, a stigma is a mark of disgrace that sets someone apart. Bipolar disorder is incredibly misunderstood by society at large, which leads to this stigma, prejudice, and discrimination. In everyday conversation, the word bipolar is frequently used to describe how someone is feeling at that moment. If a person is sad one moment and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The goal of this negotiation is to stay within character and gain as much information from the other side as possible. The uncertainties confronted were how to lead the negotiation as a Betan. The skills that we will try to exhibit are trying to embody the style and culture of the Betans. Our opponents, Alpha Inc., were prepared with their demands. They seemed to have researched our culture and were not susceptible to them. We did not reach a settlement, our goal was to remain in character and gather as much information as possible. The face saving behavior that was displayed was when we offered to pay for a limo and hotel for Alpha so that we have more time. POST NEGOTIATION REFLECTION In this negotiation, we learned that it is important to research your opponent, to understand their culture, not only of their country or backgrounds, but also their company culture. When we are able to understand our opponent s way of thinking about business and doing business we can then understand how to approach a negotiation situation with them. In this exercise, we learned that it is difficult for us to adjust when it involves breaking or acting in a way opposite of what we are accustomed to. We also learned that although my classmates live in the same country as we do, their upbringings may have similarities to their origin country and will therefore help them to communicate and adjust to that country s norms and standards. We were surprised how we were able to stay in character although it was hard and it was surprising how people responded when they were unaware of your intentions and strategies. If we had to do this exercise again, what we can do is do more research on our opponents so that we would have an idea of what to expect in the negotiation table. However, many including Chile s legal framework governing EIA lacks power. Developing their organizational capacity to take full advantage of the potential of EIA as a tool to manage complex social and environmental situations is something they could also improve. The US s EIA system differs from Chile s EIA system. In Chile, the EIA is defined as an administrative procedure geared towards ensuring compliance with environmental legislation. Not only that, but we also put into consideration which superpower would be the best, and why. Every time someone asks which super power you think is the best you actually start to carefully list cons and pros in order to get to the best super power. If I were to choose a super power, which one would I chose? I would probably choose teleportation, also known as, teletransportation. I would choose this super power because I could travel wherever I wanted to go. Not only would I be capable of doing that, but also I would be able to do it without wasting any money. Unless you decide to walk, every other method of transportation has a cost, but if you have teleportation you would be able to move places in a free way, and also a lot faster. You could also get there in a matter of seconds. Say for example, you have an emergency, and you need to get fast somewhere, for instance the hospital, you could simply teleport there. You would save a lot of time that could probably save your life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you decide to use teleportation a difficulty you may encounter with is the following: you will find yourself unable to enjoy the trip, for example the car ride to your beach house, the airplane flight to another country, etc. For some people the trip is what really matters to them, not the destination. Of course, if you are one of these type of people then you won t think of teleportation as a great super power. Most people care only about getting somewhere fast and without wasting too much money, if you are one of these type of people, then you will definitely enjoy this super power. Besides that there really is no other limit in this great super power. Looking at the real world through the dream world seems impossible, but sleep paralysis can do that and so much more. The most terrifying night of my life started as I was just falling asleep. I could feel my body giving in to the night and my eyelids becoming heavy, however they maintained open against my will. To maybe shake myself out of it, I tried to force myself to sit up; seeing how my legs did not respond to my brains request, I attempted to try a simpler task, like moving my fingers. Nothing was happening, not a muscle would budge. I wanted to yell for help but my mouth was glued shut and my vocal chords had failed me. In less than a second I lost all control over my physical self. For all I had known, I had become a vegetable for the rest of my life. My heart was sinking. As if things were not already horrible enough, I began to feel an evil presence in my bedroom. When I looked up, standing directly in front of me was a girl who was staring at me so intensely, it was as if she was burning holes through me. I quickly recognized that she was no one other than myself. Everything about her was like me, even the way her lips curved slightly downward. His essay starts with the central question of politics which has long been conflicting. This question is about coercion and obedience. Obedience is reflected by the question why should I,or anyone, obey anyone else? and coercion by must I obey and and if I disobey may I be coerced? To answer this question he defines two branches of liberty i.e. positive and negative liberty and each of these two addresses a particular question. In Berlin s view, notions of freedom have arisen from concepts of what constitutes a person but in my opinion, altering the definition of what it is to be a man one can change the definition of freedom into a desired one. The fear of a Napoleonic invasion spread across Britain, an event that had it been realised may have been welcomed by many within the nation. He recalls that William Wordsworth s primary reason for his disillusionment with Napoleon was his 1804 coronation, other Romantics such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge however, were not so clear about their reasons for resenting Napoleon and Stock states that this inability to decide upon a definitive opinion characterizes the Romantic understanding of Bonaparte because the transition from reverence to hatred was so extreme and unexpected. Like radicals and loyalists, the Romantics also offered different interpretations of Napoleon in their works especially on the concept of his humanity . Coleridge, Walter Scott and Robert Southey believed Napoleon to be an innovative politician and therefore, very human, while Percy Bysshe Shelley too regarded Napoleon as human but believed his political genius was a fallacy as he merely reverted France back to monarchy; whereas Lord Byron considered Napoleon to be a metaphysical being. Stock states that the Romantics also make quite extensive use of Satan when interpreting Napoleon and Coleridge and Scott classify him as evil incarnate to the point where they desire his death. Stock argues that some Roamntics such as William Hazlitt used the Satanic image of Napoleon to personify him as a revolutionary figure inverting political norms. More than that I tend to keep busy way more often than I should be some simply over just trivial things. That is why I decided to choose the spiritual practice of Sabbath where I took one 24 hour period in my week and dedicated it to simply rest and rejuvenate and nothing more. You simply come up with an obtainable goal and then you work hard to make it a reality. To begin with I give myself short term and long term goals to achieve. My next short term goal wasn t to just achieve the next rank of Staff Sergeant (E 6) I wanted to aim a little higher and make Sergeant First Class (E 7) within eight years, which I did. My long term goal was to ultimately make it to the rank of Sergeant major (E 9). This goal is going to be harder to achieve, but I know as long as I work hard I will achieve that goal. Goals are great, but without follow through these goals will never come to fruition. By breaking down goals into smaller goals a person will gain confidence and can eventually turn those small term goals in long term goals. I knew that I could not just jump to Sergeant Major and that s why I set small short term goals to achieve that rank. What is going to make me successful not only in my career, but also in my everyday life is accomplishing one short term goal at a time. Consequently, the aim is to find architecture which possesses vernacular elements that overshadow the universal, international elements. To substantiate the arguments and isolate a period in Australia s history, two case studies from the Mid 20th century will be examined The Rose Seidler House (figure 2), by Harry Seidler and the Curry House 2 (figure 3), by Bruce Rickard. April 1, 1991 The Boeing 767: From Concept to Production (A) In August 1981, eleven months before the first scheduled delivery of Boeing s new airplane, the 767, Dean Thornton, the program s vice president general manager, faced a critical decision. For several years, Boeing had lobbied the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for permission to build wide bodied aircraft with two , rather than three person cockpits. Negotiations on price, design modifications, and after sales parts and service became especially aggressive in the 1970s, when airlines that had been making steady profits began losing large sums of money. Cost savings became a dominant concern. As Richard Ferris, the CEO of United Airlines, remarked: Don t bug me about interior design or customer preference, just guarantee the seat mile performance. 3 The Boeing Company Boeing was the sales leader of the airframe industry, as well as one of America s leading exporters. • 38. The Pros And Cons Of Free Trade Free trade is a capitalist concept that advocates for a seamless and free flow of goods and services that is virtually unhindered by state imposed restrictions or trade barriers. Over the years, the American government has signed multiple agreements with governments across the world, to encourage trade between the continental United States and other countries around the globe. Indeed, bilateral agreements ranging from AGOA, NAFTA, and TPP have been signed by successive Washington administrations, ostensibly to encourage Americans to reap financial benefits from global trade. The open and free trade idea is anchored on the maxim that no country possesses all the services and products that it needs, at any given time. Countries across the Americas fro instance and by extension globally have seen a proliferation in the number of treaties and preferential trade agreements by economies to boost trade. In this regard, some countries are well endowed with extensive natural resources such as oil, gas, and gold, while others may lack them but still need to use these resources. Nevertheless, the sovereign is permitted under international trade laws to impose certain levels of trade restrictions for valid reasons such as protecting its infant industries and taming dumping of substandard goods. In this regard, the world is moving towards protectionism with scores of countries imposing tariff and non tariff barriers as well as the complete ban of certain class of goods from overseas or ...
