will briefly outline the following:
An introduction about Le Corbusier and his early years;
A brief outline on his architectural career;
His 5 points of architecture;
Le Corbusier and the Villa Savoye;

Charles Edouard Jeanneret Gris, known under the pseudonym Le Corbusier, a name chosen by him,

The first project entitled Contemporary City is for a city of 3 million inhabitants.
The city comprised a group of skyscrapers cross shaped steel frames and glass walls giants,
housing offices and homes for the rich, each placed in rectangular green areas. In their midst is a
large transport hub with highways on several levels, and an airport on the top floor. Le Corbusier
separates the pedestrian access routes for cars, the unconditional supporter of cars as a means of
transport.
The workers lived in the suburbs in zigzag blocks.
The next project, Radiant City is built along the same principles, only blocks are no longer built on
social criteria, but on the number of family members.
Le Corbusier s early work was related to nature, but as his ideas progressed, he developed the
Maison Domino, a basic building concept for mass production with free standing pillars and rigid
floors. He settled in Paris in 1917 where he published his book called Vers une architecture
(Towards a New Architecture), based on his earlier articles in L Esprit

Discrimination In Health And Social Care Essay
The discrimination is based on ageism. Ageism means when someone discriminates a person
according to their age. The patient feels that because she is old, the carers will think controlling
her and not provide her with the care she needs is satisfying and the right thing to do. As well as
this, the carers believe that old people are irrelevant and do not have feelings since old patients
are near the end of their lives. The patient (old lady) also states how the care worker would shout
at her which could make her feel small/inferior/scared compared to the carers and how whatever
she says, it s irrelevant towards the carers therefore this leads her feeling isolated and alone. It
lowers her confidence making her feel worthless and unwanted just... Show more content on

This is because the carer isn t aware of what the old lady needs or wants. Whenever she asks for
something, the carer s would refuse, such as when the old patient chose from the food menu to
eat vegetarian food as she dislikes fish or meaty products, (vegetarian) the carer didn t give her
any other option apart from eating meat which the old lady doesn t prefer as her right to choice
was taken away. This shows how she is being forced to do or eat things she doesn t like. The
carer told her to listen to her and stop complaining about it. This could even have an effect on
her religion or beliefs. Since maybe she s not allowed to eat something that s meaty.
Furthermore this could affect the patient personally as she loses her rights to do what she wants.
Therefore she won t argue back to prove her points and rights. Her short term will be affected as
she will feel scared and threatened from the care workers as she may think that they would
control what she does or hurt her if she was to complain or tell anyone. So this reinforces how her
rights are very low and limited. This will affect her intellectual development because since her
rights aren t being heard, she will give up trying and would consider herself unintelligent and

Space Flight Research Paper
Before launching a rocket into the unknown, there are a number of factors that need to be
considered before taking flight. Over the past 200,000 years, humans have adapted well to life on
earth, through many generations. Manned missions to space have only been occurring for 55 years
and humans haven t had the chance to adapt to its harsh environment and this can take a toll on the
human body. The more serious effects of long term space flight include weightlessness (muscle
atrophy and deterioration of the skeleton); slowing of the cardio vascular system functions,
decrease in production of red blood cells, balance disorder and an overall weakening of the immune
system. Other minor effects on the human body include fluid redistribution, loss of body mass, nasal

Essay On Valley Forge Dbq
Death is all around you, what do you do? Valley Forge was a winter camp in 1777 to 1778 for the
George Washington and his army. Valley Forge was 18 miles outside of Philadelphia. The
winter at Valley Forge was long, cold, harsh, and horrible. Soldiers 9 month terms were about to
end many wanted to go home. The question to us is would you re enlist or not re enlist? I have
decided to re enlist for three reasons which are less soldiers, hard times, and support. It would
not matter to me what happened I,am a loyal soldier. The first reason why I would re enlist is
less soldiers. From December 1777 to the February 1778 4,000 people either left or died (Doc
A). On February 1st 1778 3,989 people were sick out of 8,000 people(Doc A). Dr. Waldo says
The army which has been surprisingly healthy, now begins to grow sickly. (Doc C). The so
called summer soldier and the sunshine patriot are leaving(Doc D). Summer soldier and sunshine
patriot means people that only like doing the fighting when it is easy. Soldiers that leave are
summer soldiers, I do not want to be one of those. this reason is causing me to re enlist because less
soldiers would make the army need more soldiers, so I will stay.... Show more content on

and everyone was starved (Doc C). There would be cries of NO MEAT! NO MEAT! that echoed
back the melancholy sound (Doc C). Skin and eyes are almost spoiled with continual smoke.
(Doc C). This is causing me to re enlist because hard times would make it harder to win so the

Why I Want To Work On My Bachelor s Degree
My plan right now is to work on my bachelor s degree. That is the first priority in my life. Currently
I am an E 5 in the Navy. I have a year left at my current command. I have a goal to finish my
bachelors in the next two and a half years. I have a year left on my current contract now. In the
service, we call the number of years we have enlisted for contracts. I signed up for 3 years and
February of 2017 my contract will be up. I plan on reenlisting for another 3 years to finish up my
degree and save more money. My job I am doing right now involves Intel. I have been doing this
for the past 6 years that I have been in the Navy. I am currently trying to rerate. Rating in the

I am trying to rerate to become a paralegal. Law and legal work seems more interesting to me
while I am in the service and is a better fit for me then being in the intel community. I know that I
would enjoy it more being involved with people and learning about the laws of the military. If I
cannot get another job while I am in the service I still plan on re enlisting for another 2 to 3 years
anyway. I want to get my bachelor degree in Management Information Systems. I love the
combination of Business and Information Systems and I feel that will be more competitive in
the civilian world if I have a mixture of both fields. My plan is not to stay in the service for 20
years. I really find business to be fascinating. Business is a field that is constantly changing,
things are being created, its fast paced, and in constant motion. The service can be stifling. My
intentions were to only due a 4 year tour however, I did not want to get out of the service without
my degree. It wasn t until recently I figured out what I wanted to do for college. I reenlisted for

Subject: A Framework for Low Performing Schools in Pinellas County Schools
Attached is my proposal for a framework for the low performing schools in the Southern Area of the
district. Pinellas County schools has several A+rating schools within the district. However, the
South Area has had an F rating for the last five years consecutively with little improvements. The
research proposal gives a framework for turnaround schools to increase the F rating to a better
rating. The benefits of the framework will include the following: To maintain retention for new and
contract teachers. Provide classroom teachers, principals, and support personnel additional training
with model from high performing districts with the State of Florida or High performing states.
Produce an active parental involved community by require all Pinellas County Schools be a
fundamental system. My proposal is to provoke solutions that will help reconstructed Pinellas
County Schools to be a more effective county with great schools.
I am propose a model for the low performing schools in the Southern Area. To design and develop a
new strategy to improve the failing schools in the four areas of concern noted above. The attached
proposal includes my research for solutions in the following areas: retention, professional
development, and parental involvement.

Napoleon And Stalin Animal Farm Essay
Animal Farm is a political allegory concerning power about the Russian Revolution. At the
beginning of Animal Farm , power was used to achieve great things. It brought all animals of
Manor Farm together but after an initial influence of power, it began to destroy the community that
they had worked together to form. This can be seen by the character development of Napoleon who
is thought to potray Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Unionduring the mid 1920 s. They were
both leaders that abused their power and used ruthless methods to rule over the community. For
instance, Napoleon and Stalin both abused their given power, one of the similarities between them
was their act of violence. In the novella, Animal Farm by George orwell,... Show more content on

In the novella, Animal Farm , by George Orwell, Orwell states, Napoleon had accepted, through
Whymper, a contract for four hundred eggs a week.... Their method was to fly up the rafters and
there lay their eggs, which smashed to pieces on the floor.... He [Napoleon] ordered the hens
rations to be stopped and decreed that any animal giving so much as a grain of corn to a hen
should be punished by death (pg.68). This means that Napoleon killed all the chickens because
they didn t want to give them anymore eggs. Napoleon never consulted with the hens to give up
their products. This is to symbolise what Stalin did in the past when he wanted to take the lands
away from profiting farmers because private property is against the government and socialism.
Both of them tried to control the food production and would not mind killing to get the production
process smoother. Furthermore, both dictators ruled over their subjects with an iron hand. Orwell
states, ...but it was cruel work, and the animals could not feel so hopeful about it as they had felt
before. They were always cold and usually hungry as well (pg 66). This means that Napoleon
would make the animals work hard no matter how the harsh conditions were. In relation to this,
Stalin made loyal proletariat workers work hard until they got too tired and incompetent. Overall,
both dictators governed their people

Interpersonal Communication In Fireproof
Latoya,
Fireproof is one of my all time favorite movies. Even though I am single, I love the message.
Caleb and Catherine viewed their marriage as a contract, rather than a covenant. Mark 10:7 9
says, Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two
shall become flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined
together, let not man separate (ESV). Caleb and Catherine did not have a biblical view of marriage,
which had a negative effect on their communication. One of the major character flaws in the Holts
was the fact they did not understand how to communicate effectively with one another. Caleb was
verbally aggressive towards his wife, especially when he called ... Show more content on

According to Stewart, Zediker, and Witteborn (2012), verbal aggression is defined in part by the
ways it attacks the character and self concept of the other (p. 337). Whenever Caleb screamed at
his wife, she responded with frustration and anger. Caleb did not show Catherine the love and
respect she deserved; and as a result, she looked for love and respect elsewhere (Kendrick,
2008). Throughout the movie, Caleb s father challenged him to save his marriage utilizing The
Love Dare (Kendrick, 2008). This tool helped Caleb develop his interpersonal communication
skills. The Love Dare caused Caleb to study his wife and fully understand the desires of her
heart, which was to purchase a new bed and wheelchair for her mother since she had suffered a
stroke (Kendrick, 2008). Catherine had a desire for her mother to be more comfortable
(Kendrick, 2008). According to Burley Allen (1995), Knowing as much about people as possible
allows to be more effective in working with them. The better you are at reading people, the more
you can predict how they will behave in certain circumstances (p. 170). Caleb learned how to read
his wife and gained a more thorough understanding of her wants and desires. As a result, his
communication with Catherine greatly

A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation
A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation
Hinduism is a vast and very complex religion to comprehend and consists of various different
branches of philosophies. Although it is considered that Hinduism does not necessarily have one
text that provides the guidelines for the contemporary Hindu devotee, like the Bible does for
Christians, but there are a few scriptures that help identify the ultimate goal for the followers of
Hinduism. The Upanishads try to exemplify the message of obtaining the righteous path as much as
possible with rooting its context to the most ancient Hindu text, the Vedas. Tying both of these
scriptures together the main purpose of a practicing Hindu is laid out; which is being able to obtain

Even though accepting the Advaita Vedanta means that there is no classification of male or
female amongst people, it still sets a barrier for women because according to the
Dharmasharstras, women were unfit to learn Vedic rituals and studies which are key
requirements of sannyasa (Khandelwal 2004: 37). Herein lies the most significant deviation from
the classical perspective of renunciation in modernity; most contemporary female renouncers,
also referred to as sannyasinis, have broken out of a tradition that is characterized by the
renunciation of rituals. They therefore have effectively redefined renunciation on their own
terms. Like most classical renouncers, sannyasinis also build vairgya and have completely
detachment from worldly materials. But unlike the classical renunciation where a renouncer
would go off to the forest and be by himself, the modern day female renouncers have become
more involved in social activism (Khandelwal 2004: 49). This is a clear alteration from the
classical renouncer because now the female renouncers are participating in a form of actions
which is still continue their cycle of karma, whereas the end goal is to stop exactly that according
to the classical practices. In Khandelwal s book Women in Ochre Robes, she uses various examples
of how different women are using types of social activism throughout their practices.

This is quite a major occasion in history because during the Middle Kingdom, not just Pharos

be placed in oarsmen s tombs. These boats marked a significant time in history! The model boat
was created by an artist which is unknown to us. But, what is for surely known is that the artist
was greatly respected. This is because Egyptian artists whom worked in the service of gods and
were tied to religious beliefs in the Egyptian life were highly respected (info taken from http:/

Therefore, after the artist created the model boat, they were quite famous and highly respected
in society. This boat model is also categorized as a sculpture because it can be looked at from all

loved ones in their journey to their afterlife. Since, loved ones would give the boats to their loved

The Tempest
Remember back to childhood. If we had siblings, we would beat them up because they took our
toy or something meaningless. We feel we got justice. But right after that we were asking for
forgiveness because the power of the I ll tell mom phrase was too much for our little minds. That
back and forth is the whole basis behind Shakespeare s The Tempest. In his final poem, he wants to
convey that justice and forgivenesscan go hand in hand.
For example, justice and forgiveness may not happen at the same time, but they can. When
Ferdinand woke up and started walking around the island, Ariel came to him and started singing
a song Come unto.../ Full fathom five.../ were his eyes (1.2 375 397) The song worked really
well only because of the almost comedic effect of the song s transition. It seemed as if the gods
were saying sorry to Ferdinand, then in no time Prospero got his justice by making Ferdinand
feel sick to his stomach. When traveling along the isle, the survivors see a table of food, and
Alonso says I will stand to, and feed.../ [Thunder and lightning] (3.3 49/stage directions). The
people that never really did anything to Prospero are happy, feeling like they ve been forgiven for ...

and has an island to himself, which was his dream. Yes he has to deal with tons of issues on the

Hedonism In Oscar Wilde s The Picture Of Dorian Gray
In Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray, the author introduces the naive protagonist Dorian
Gray as he undergoes rapid transformation to seek self indulgence through hedonism. Throughout
the course of the novel, he demonstrates his allegiance to his beauty and seals his conscience in
the form of a painting as to never expose the desecration of his soul to society. Oscar Wilde
manipulates allusion, pessimistic diction, and subtle imagery to manifest Dorian s perpetual fear of
his youthful deterioration being publicly showcased and the temptation of enamoring his aesthetic
appearance, which facilitates the process of initiating the Faustian pact as a Byronic Hero.
Assimilating to the role of a tragic hero, Dorian Gray exhibits an unconventional philosophy,
hedonism, which contradicts the norms of the Victorian Era. Through this characteristic, his
devotion to the aesthetics of his life takes precedence over morality and ethics. Extolling at the
magnificence of his painting, symbolizing the consequences of his transgressions, is the
manifestation of the temptation that has corrupted the sanctity of his cerebral cortex. In essence,
his obsession with eternal youth, infinite passion, pleasures subtle and secret, wild joys and wilder
sins were the focus of his existence from which the allusion to the Faustian legend can be
interpreted as dealing with supernatural forces of nature to further his conviction. Tempted by the
extravagant luxuries that are limited to humanity for a short period of time hinders one from using
it to its full potential. Relinquishing his virtues by bequeathing it to the portrait, he surrenders to
his temptations as he draws the screen back into its former place in front of the picture, smiling as
he did so... if the picture was to alter, it was to alter. That was all. Desiring a selfish satisfaction
that goes against conventional wisdom qualifies as a sin, due to his excessive lifestyle consisting of
no consequences. His principles have been bestowed upon another entity to feel the ramifications of
Dorian s eternal youth, which enables him to abuse the wonders of appearance to his heart s
content. His surrendering to the temptation of eternal youth is one trait that essentially

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, in both Western developed
countries and worldwide (Ferlay 2008). It is a cancer that is only limited to males, as only males
have prostate glands. The exact etiology is still unknown; however, it is thought to be a
multifactorial disease with inherited genetics playing a major role (Xu 2013). Particularly, people
with fathers and brothers with prostatecancerare at increased risk for developing it themselves.

(Amundadottir 2006 Gudmundsson 2007). These initial GWAS studies analyzed 550,000 SNPs
across the genome in cases and controls of European origin nested from the Cancer Genetic

The New And Older Generations Of The United Ages Of 18 And...
Assimilation As the American economy continues to incorporate the younger generation into the
working class, steps must be taken to maximize employee potential. The impact of workers
between the ages of 18 and 32, Generation Y or Millennials, is unquestionably an organizational
concern for many employers. According to a 2013 Ernst Young survey, 87% of Millennials have
moved into managementpositions in the last five years. With that level of upward mobility, issues
and conflicts are certain to arise due to the vastly different workplace ethics, management styles,
etc. held by the new and older generations. For a company to be an innovative competitor in the
marketplace, it is important for its employees to be able to work productively while accommodating
generational differences. The 2013 Ernst Young survey also found that more than 69% of
respondents said their company had made an effort to alleviate the challenges that arise with a
generational blend. Employee cooperation is an important goal for these companies because it is
vital for them to thrive in the rapidly evolving workplace. Without cooperation between the distinct
generational groups, management problems will certainly arise. Leaders should attempt to mitigate
these problems by allowing employees to work in a style that suits their particular needs. While
certain standards must be in place to maintain orderly operations, flexibility must be demonstrated
so that employees remain loyal to the firm. Favoring

Return on equity (ROE) is equal to a fiscal year s net income. It measures the rate of return on
the ownership interest of the common stock owners and measures a company s efficiency at
generating profits from every unit of shareholders equity. Return on equity for most companies
certainly should be in the double digits; investors often look for 15% or higher, while return of
20% or more is considered excellent. Neither of these companies is great for their ROE but they
are close, Novartis being higher.

Essay about Rudolfo Anaya’s Bless Me, Ultima
Rudolfo Anaya s Bless Me, Ultima
In Rudolfo Anaya s Bless Me, Ultima, the author uses Tony s dreams as a way of displaying
various symbols. Three symbols that are used often are weather, water, and the Golden Carp.
Weather is used to represent conflict. Water represents cleansing, and rejuvenation. The Golden
Carp symbolizes religion and Tony s beliefs. Because dreams are not an exact mirror of reality,
they become the perfect tool for introducing symbolism. The author uses the dream as a way to

His desire is to be washed clean from the haunting memories if Lupito s death. Another reference
to water is the waters of baptism. In Tony s dream his parents argue about what water he was
baptized in. Oh please tell me which is the water that runs through my veins. (Anaya120) The
waters of baptism represent cleansing, but in the dream his parents argue over whether he was
baptized with the holy water of the moon, or the salt water from the oceans. This represents his
parent s pulling him in two opposite directions. Later in this dream Ultima explains to both of Tony
s parents that in reality both of their waters are the same. This shows that Tony is rejuvenated by
the idea that he dose not have to choose between one parent or another, but can take the best of
both of them. Because of the water Tony is able to live his life better. The final example of water
being usedas a symbol is in one of
Tony s final dreams. He talks about his brother s livers, They cried in such pain for release that I
took their livers from the hook and cast them into the raging, muddy waters of the River of the
Carp. Then they rested, and I rested. ( Anaya 235) This quote shows that because Antonio can not
stop his brothers from their reckless wondering he instead casts their livers in to the river.

Archetype Of The Devil In Ghost Rider
A Faustian Bargain which can be best described as a deal with the devil at is evident in many

Marketing
Strengths
Physical market presence
Despite the closure of many of HMV s stores due to administration difficulties, over 100 stores
were still in operation in prime shopping locations in the UK and Ireland. In 2012 HMV had
nearly 20% of the market share, slightly more than Amazon at the time. HMV is one of the
largest and most successful entertainment retail store in Europe and is more successful than its
rivals such as Virgin megastore who closed down in Ireland in 2002. (McCaughren, 2007). As of
2013 HMV had 16 stores operating all over Ireland in the main cities such as Henry Street, Lucan ,

Online retailing
By the time HMV caught up with other industry rivals such as Amazon it was too late to
compete with ideas such as the click and collect service where you order a product online and
then collect it in store. If HMV where to open back up they would need to have strong online
presence by allowing customers to have access to buying goods online. Ireland is the 2nd largest
developed online market in Europe with Irish consumers spending 420million online coming up to
Christmas alone, so it is crucial to HMV to operate online if they were to reopen. (Cullen, D. 2012)
Delivery service
HMV had a click and collect service but this is still inconvenient for consumers as they still have
to go to the store to collect their goods. Instead they could have a click and deliver service on
their website where consumers and buy any item and get it delivered to their door. This is way
more convenient for consumers and is making it easier for them to shop.
Applications
HMV could launch a digital music app on the app store on iTunes which allows customers to
access hundreds of free high quality songs and information about the most currents artists and
popular music at the time. This will be catering for generation y needs as they will be readily be
able to look at current music and listen to songs for free without having to physically go to a store.

Irish Immigration To Chicago Essay
The history of Irish in Chicago follows a similar pattern to one alike the Irish in other American
cities where they settled in large numbers. Many early immigrants created a visible Irish community
which was sustained by many different key structures, this community stayed relatively together
into the early twentieth century. After that, many of the descended Irish immigrants gradually
began to mold into a more general Catholic American subgroup, though a smaller core of very
ethnic Irish still remain to this time. The early irish immigrants in Chicago had an immense effect
on Social, economic, Religious and political factors in Chicago.
In the 1830s and 1840s, the growth of Irish immigration occurred with significant numbers of Irish
coming to Chicago. Due to the Great Famine in ireland, the number of Irish coming to Chicago
grew exponentially. In the 1850 s, Irish immigrants were responsible for about one fifth of Chicagos
population. Though the number of Irish immigrants in Chicago kept on increasing and getting

Abstract
In order to visualize and conceptualize the affect of the contact angle on impact force, testing of
four different shapes and comparing the results was done. Conclusions were drawn on the affects of
the type of contact surface on the measured impact force. In analyzing these results, it was also be
of interest to calculate the theoretical force using a derivation of equations and comparing them to
the measured data. Doing so may allow for further understanding concerning the possible errors in
calculations or possible mis assumptions being made.
Because theoretical results and measured results did not agree within reasonable ... Show more

This allows the theoretical data to further validate the measured data. Because the hemispherical
shape had error bars which did not overlap, the data corrections were made to that particular set of
data. Refer to Figures 5 and 6 to see how these error bars either did not overlap or came close to not
overlapping.
Notice in Figures 9 and 10 the comparisons in the before calculated force compared to that of the
corrected forces. Specific data on these corrections may be found in Tables 7 and 8 in the Appendix.

Conclusions and Recommendations
This experiment effectively showed that the resultant impact force acting on the different target
shapes changed depending on the shape, which is affected by the contact angle. Further analysis of
the data also showed that some beginning assumptions were incorrect, allowing insight on the
reasoning for incorrect data percentages. These were corrected via further derivations in the

Rick Perry s Decision On The Hpv Vaccine Essay
Rick Perry s Decision on the HPV Vaccine
Abstract
A very significant portion of a well functioning democratic society is obtaining individuals who
will be obligated by moral decision making regarding political and personal policies. This paper
is going to discuss Rick Perry s decision to mandate that all girls eleven years and older receive
the HPV vaccine before entering the six grade which has caused some controversy among the
people of Texas. Positive and negative features of the decision will be discussed from four different
articles that help provide clarity on the matter.
Introduction
Throughout the years, democracy has been the system of government in The United States of
America. Democracy is a society in which individuals participate in the decision making process
of establishments that make decisions or execute actions that affect them. A democracy also holds
the establishments or organizations fully accountable for the decisions or actions that may
infringe on their human rights. A perfect example of democracy in action is recollecting the law
passed by Governor Rick Perry, in Texas, that mandated that all girls, eleven years and older,
receive a vaccine for a sexually transmitted disease, also known as the HPV vaccine. This stirred a
lot of controversy among many Texas residents deciding whether or not it was the right move in
order to progress as a state.
Positives
Governor Perry s decision concerning the HPV vaccine is highly controversial, but there are

Similarities Between Rugby And Rugby
The 1967 intercontinental playoff. Almost 70,000 fans were in attendance to witness the action.
On pitch, fifty one fouls were committed and six red cards were handed out. This display would
be unacceptable for any other sport so surely it is time for football to change. Football is the most
watched sport worldwide with the FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de FootballAssociation, FIFA,
controlling a ВЈ20 billion industry which speaks volumes about the popularity of the sport yet it
has a reputation for foul play. Whether you watch the game religiously or have only ever seen a
single match you will have witnessed a player attempt to cheat their way to a penalty. Most sports
fans can agree that this unruly behaviour is frowned upon in every sport. Football has been
compared with the Rugby Unionfor many years now and it is clear that football has the popular
vote, but it can learn how to enforce discipline from its rugby counterpart in areas where it really
makes the difference; the yellow card system, managerial styles and the referees. A good place
to start the reforms with the yellow card system. Currently, football yellow cards do not make a
big impact on the player s behaviour, whereas rugby has found a much more efficient alternative.
In football, a yellow card is not a threat to the players as they must earn two them to be sent off in
order to make a substantial difference to the outcome of the game. However, the Rugby Union s

Procrastination Research Paper
The procrastinator. The prioritizer. The slacker. Which type of studier are you? I believe that I
am all three. Procrastination is basically waiting until the last minute to do something.
Prioritizing is to arrange or deal with things in the order of importance. Last but not least,
slacking is lacking in diligence, care, or concern. Out of all three words, prioritizing sounds the
best. Many kids at school like to procrastinate, mostly with tests, I am one of them. This is why

The number twenty four says to study all day, every day. Lastly, seven means to study on all the
seven days of the week. Students test scores have augmented, when doing this process. You
never know, studying ten minutes a day may allow your test score to go from a sixty to a ninety.
Study habits not only involve you studying by yourself, but you should ask your classmates or
teachers for help. If you do not discern the lesson that was taught, pull your teacher off to the
side and respectfully ask them for help. Hang around people that do not know the same thing as
you, therefore you can help each other out. Helping friends study is always a benign act.
Prioritizing is always the best route to go. If you prioritize, you most likely will be less stressed
when studying for a test. As we enter high school, there are going to be multiple assignments and
tests on the same day, but if you prioritize you can execute your task very well. To exemplify for
you, imagine next week we will have three tests on different days. Also, that your teacher has told
you two weeks before the test. Most of us would probably wait until the last minute to study. After
getting the results, you have only passed one test. Wouldn t it have been better for you to
prioritize, so you could have a better outcome? As my saying goes, keep your eyes on the prize and

In 1943, The British And American Allies Shared A Common
In 1943, the British and American Allies shared a common language and a common enemy, but
they disagreed on the war s grand strategy. These strategic differences culminated in the Sicily
Campaign when Allied Command and Control exercised by General Eisenhower, Allied
Commander, failed to employ the three essential attributes of Mission Command: commander s
intent, full understanding, and mutual trust among partners, as discussed in General Dempsey s
white paper. These failures in Mission Command also limited the Allies ability to effectively
integrate the vital and complementary joint functions of Fires, as well as Movement and Maneuver.

Eisenhower did not ensure close proximity between subordinate commands to support planning,
integration, and coordination. He never offered or seriously promoted a clear, much less bold,
commander s intent for the operation or an operational end state beyond the capture of Sicily. The
committee style of operational planning Eisenhower conducted failed to plan for the possibility of
an Axis evacuation of Sicily, and he failed to develop a plan to trap the Axis Forces in Sicily. Once
in the fight, Eisenhower never exerted the control over his subordinate commanders necessary to
direct them to stop the German evacuation of Sicily. This perhaps changed the trajectory of the war.
If the Allies captured the 15th Panzer DIV in Sicily, this weakens the Axis capability to defend Italy
possibly, providing the Allies an avenue of approach to Southern Germany in 1943. These
deficiencies led his senior subordinates to develop their own diverging commander s intent.
Admiral Andrew Cunningham, Air Chief Marshall Arthur Tedder and General Harold Alexander,
all British and Eisenhower senior lieutenants, constructed additional Commander s intent and
personalized operational understanding of Husky that facilitated their own additional operational
end states, beyond the capture of Sicily. Admiral Cunningham wanted to ensure the safety of his
fleet and refused to operate in the contested waters near Italy. Air Chief Marshall Tedder, above all

I Have Pretty Serious Concerns About Donald Trump
Just like on television, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump dominated the discussion
among a handful of voters scattered around Wayne County Tuesday.
All said this election was an important one and a big one which could change the direction the
country is headed and change how elections are done in the future.
For some, like Jennifer Gunnoe, who lives overseas in Tbilisi, Georgia, Trump was among the
motivating factors in getting out to vote.
I have pretty serious concerns about Donald Trump, Gunnoe said. I want my candidate to win, but
another major motivating factor is the state of our country if Donald Trump is elected.
Gunnoe and her family are back in the United States for some rest and relaxation, and she wanted
to cast her vote for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. She cast a provisional ballot at the Wayne
County Board of Elections.
Eleanor Tylka went to the parish hall at St. Mary Catholic Church to vote, which she feels is an
obligation. There was quite a bit to vote on, a little bit more than usual, she said.
I think there is a candidate who will help this country, Tylka said. She is supporting Ohio Gov. John
Kasich for president. She, too, is concerned about the one who would destroy the country. She
would not say who, but she did say, You can figure that out.

How Did The French Revolution Influence Art
The French Revolution and the Art it Influenced
Liberty, equality, fraternity, or death; the last, much the easiest to bestow, O Guillotine! wrote the
famous author Charles Dickens, in his classic book, The Tale of Two Cities. The French
Revolution (1789 1796) was a fight for liberty and equality, which ultimately led to the execution of
Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI, by way of guillotine. And, eventually Napoleon
Bonaparte became the ruler of France. This was a transforming time in not just France s history,
but European history and World history. The people of France were fed up with the monarchy
and the burden of high taxes, as the monarch rulers squandered money away while the people
faced famine and poverty. The Revolution was so powerful that artists not only painted about it,
but they became revolutionaries themselves, like Jacques Louis David, who is famous for his
works, Oath of the Horratii, and Napoleon Crossing the Alps. In 1830, the second French
Revolution broke out and this was known as the Three Glorious Days , in which the people of
France protested Charles X after he imposed ordinances that prevented freedom of the press and
increased the power of his monarchy ( French Revolution , n.d.). The famous allegorical painting
by Eugene Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People, is a historical depiction of the second French
Revolution and illustrates the connection between socioeconomic and political issues, and art.
This paper will look at David s Napoleon Crossing the Alps, and Delacroix s Liberty Leading the
People and analyze the impact of the French Revolution on art of those periods.
Jacques Louis David (1748 1825) was one of the most famous Neoclassist painters, as well as a
devout revolutionary in 19th century France. He painted works that some consider propaganda of
the time, yet he did so in pure Neoclassical fashion (Pollitt, n.d.). Eventually, he became the
personal painter for Napoleon Bonaparte, as he continued to support the revolution through art. In
Napoleon Crossing the Alps, we see a diagonal, yet static composition. The diagonal that is created
by the horse is reminiscent of Baroque figures, yet it lacks the movement that the Baroque style
portrayed so well.

Animal Experimentation Research
Imagine yourself strapped to a table while strangers with cold hands pry open your eyes to drop a

torture happens hundreds of times every day as scientists try to find answers to scientific questions,
only to find out that all of the pain and suffering was all for nothing. Animal dissection has a long
history that dates back to the Stone Age, but did not gain traction until the seventeenth century. At
this time, English physician William Harvey managed to demonstrate circulation of blood using
animals and then applied it to humans showing the value of vivisectionfor accurately illustrating

According to NEAV, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has noted that 92 percent of all
drugs that are shown to be safe and effective in animal tests fail in human trials because they don t
work or are dangerous. The article goes on to explain that out of the 8 percent of drugs that do
pass the human trials, half of them must be relabeled to account for unforeseen side effects on
human subjects. The ramifications of these failing experiments cost companies millions of dollars.
Furthermore, PETA explains that there are several drugs that are essential to human medicine that
react quite negatively in animals. For example, aspirin kills cats and causes birth defects in
several other animals including dogs and monkeys. If that drug had first been tested on cats, it
never would have reached the market and provided the extensive relief it has to date. Also,
animals in laboratories to be experimented upon are known to display understandably stressed
behavior which jeopardizes the accuracy and credibility of the results. For example, in a
NewScientist article by Ann Baldwin, the dangers of anxious animals are explained. The report
writes that rats housed in such conditions (laboratories) show an inflammatory response in their
intestines accompanied by leaky blood vessels. The article proceeds to examine the outcome of that

course not, says common sense. Naturally, it is difficult to understand why anyone would confess
to a crime they didn t commit. However, false confessions are one the leading causes of wrongful

make false confessions more frequently than those unacquainted with the phenomenon might

republics serve as the first difference between his political views and the American government.
Machiavelli generally puts those in a republic in a negative light by claiming that the subjects of
a republic are not used to standing up for themselves and cannot agree to give themselves a
leader. Therefore, it is not a sturdy government to capture. Instead of finding the idea of no
singular person being a leader a good way to ensure statewide cooperation and content,
Machiavelli claims that, In republics there is more vitality, greater hatred, and more desire for
vengeance, (Machiavelli, Chapter V). Which is a far cry to the American government s oath to
all of its freedoms and liberties. Machiavelli moves on to say that the safest way to capture a
republic state is to destroy it altogether. This shows his views on republics are very much negative
and that he believes they are almost a nuisance to a prince trying to maintain a state. Of course this
is a drastic difference to the American government, where its subjects thrive in a republic. In other
words, while Machiavelli believes no state could be maintained as a republic, the American
government proves that it could still be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This being said, it also holds many truths and even problems about America today, even though it is
written for a much older and ancient time. Although Machiavelli may have never thought for
government to become the way it is today, many could learn from his writings on how to better our
government one step at a time perhaps through learning from his teachings or against

3.0 Critical Appraisal. This Chapter Will Explore The Main
3.0 CRITICAL APPRAISAL This chapter will explore the main themes that have been identified
from the four pieces of research selected for use in this literature review. The articles consist of
two qualitative papers, one quantitative and one mixed methods. Two papers are from the United
States, one is Australian and One is from the Republic of Ireland. No papers from the United
Kingdom have been selected due to the lack of recent research on the selected topic and inferior
quality of the available material. Moreover, the similarities within the Emergency departments are
such that the research is both generalizable and transferable and can be applied in a British hospital
setting. The focus of three of the studies (Lederman and wacht, 2014;... Show more content on

Furthermore, the researches included a chaplain and a social worker in the survey, thus making
the suitability of the participants questionable, which may invalidate the results (Parahoo, 2014).
The study concluded that the majority of healthcare providers (HP S) were supportive of FWR
(73%) despite concerns regarding the behaviour of family members and concern for the
emotional burden that they associated with witnessing resuscitation. However, most participants
stressed that they would prefer a designated member of staff to accompany the witnesses during
the resuscitation (Lederman and Wacht, 2014). In contrast, a study by Bushby et al (2012),
which comprised of a self completed anonymous questionnaire of all HP s within the ED of a
single Australian hospital; found that the preponderance of staff who were opposed to FWR
perceived that it would have a negative emotional impact on the family member. Their concerns
focused on the prospect of the witness developing Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
However, there is a wealth of strong evidence to suggest the contrary (Jabre et al, 2013; Hanson et
al, 2005; Holzhauser et al; 2006 and Meyer et al, 2000. This suggests that awareness of current

Essay On The Crucible Movie
I watched the movie The Crucible directed by Nicholas Hytner in 1996. Initially, I was excited to
watch the film because the topic really interested me, I had also heard good things about the
movie from other people. When the movie started I was a bit confused as to what was
happening and then I realized they were witches and they were involving in some sort of
practice. I liked the actors a lot, I knew some of them from previous movies and shows and was
excited to see their performance in this movie. The opening credits of the movie are too, Winona
Ryder, Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Scofield, Joan Allen, Rob Campbell, and Bruce Davison. The movie

`` Negroland And Fun Home `` By Margo Jefferson And Alison...
In Negroland and Fun Home, Margo Jefferson and Alison Bechdel both view their individual
lives and identities as interacting with history. However, their perceptions of history differ vastly
in that Jefferson identifies herself as both a spectator and player in a giant game of sociocultural
history, while Bechdel perceives national history as a tape reeling alongside her life, shaping her
worldview but serving as a backdrop amidst her individual life. In Negroland, Jefferson relates to
and traces the sociocultural and racial history of Negroes that has shaped her niche in modern
society and drastically changed her expectations and perspectives. In contrast, Bechdel does not
explicitly cite history as an influential force but rather hints... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Thus, expectations and conventions are imposed upon members of Negroland, such as
Jefferson, so that they embody the privileges that arose over time from a complex and dynamic
social hierarchy. For Jefferson, personal and racial histories are heavily interconnected, as
denoted when she makes references to various historical and familial figures. Tracing the
evolution of this hierarchy through the ages from the Civil War up to the present, Jefferson
cites a fellow chronicler of Negroland, Anna Julia Cooper, the daughter of a slave and a
slaveholder, a Black Woman of the South who criticizes the masculinist need to dominate
domestically, nationally, and internationally; Cooper s collective voice for the oppressed
parallels Jefferson s personal concern with race, gender, and class. However, Jefferson also
emphasizes the collective Du Boisian double consciousness that Negroes in the Talented Tenth and
in Negroland must face, thinking about Them as Us, forced to dismiss aspirations and
professional duties and accept those in lower strata as equals (Jefferson 34). Jefferson undergoes a
double consciousness of her own in her childhood as well, when she is forced to conform to
expectations due to her status as an upper class Negro, expectations which force her to be ambushed
by insult and humiliation even though these expectations are set to prevent errors and

An Analysis of the Pharmaceutical Industry using Porter s...
In 1897, Felix Hoffmann created a new industry. He found a way of adding a cluster of two extra
carbon and five extra hydrogen atoms to a substance extracted from willow bark. The result is
known to chemists as acetylsalicylic acid. To everyone else it is known as aspirin. It turned Bayer,
the dye maker Hoffmann worked for, into the world s first modern drug company. Geoffrey Carr,
The Alchemists, The Economist Feb 19th 1998
Today s Pharmaceutical Industry is characterized by several important factors that influence the
business environment in which each company operates:
В·Severe competition from capitally strong competitors
В·Strict government regulations
В·Long approval wait time
В·Technology as an important factor
В·Lower levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Providers wishing to increase market share must take it away from someone else. Switching costs
are relatively low. Customers will shop around based on price, even in small communities.
Admittedly, customer loyalty tends to be higher in smaller communities but this loyalty is shrinking
as another factor, mergers and acquisitions, increase. There is little relevant difference in products
and the diversity among competitors is low.
BARRIERS TO ENTRY
Prescription: High, a company cannot manufacture a drug that has a patent on it. It must wait till
after the patent expires to manufacture it.
Generic: Low, once the patent is expired, everyone will want to manufacture the drug (especially if
it was a big money maker for the inventing company).
Over the counter: Medium, depending on the new entrant s resources. Store brands will always be
available. However, for small companies a name brand is a huge marketing expense. This will
make it a barrier for them to enter this market.
There are many barriers that can be created to prevent new entrants or to slow down their arrival.
In the pharmaceutical industry, a new entrant may be faced with various hurdles erected by
established businesses, such as:
В·economies of scale manufacturing, R D, marketing, sales,
В·distribution product differentiation established products, brands and relationships
В·capital requirements and financial resources
В·access to distribution

The Consequences Of Alcohol Analysis
Alcohol is a very widely used drug, and is therefore present in many clinical and forensic
toxicology cases. Quantitation of alcohol levels in patients affects the clinical treatment they
receive as well as any legal consequences associated with the incident that led to their
hospitalization. Alcohol analysis and its consequences for postmortem cases also forms a large
part of the forensic toxicologist s workload [1 2].
Although gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GCMS) or gas chromatography flame ionization
detection (GC FID) is the most accurate and reliable method of determining blood alcohol
concentration (BAC), it is expensive, time consuming, and requires technical proficiency manhours
[1 2]. Therefore, BAC determination in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there is still contention over its existence, prevalence, and severity; this is evidenced by
recent articles and court cases contesting its relevance [3,7] . It is problematic that almost every
mention of this phenomenon goes back to a single study in 1995 that failed to put the issue to rest
[6].
Forensically, this research has multiple implications. The presence and level of alcohol in a
victim or perpetrator s system has great bearing on their behavior and frame of mind. As a result,
the amount of alcohol in a person s blood can serve as a strong piece of evidence. From a
sentencing standpoint, the level of legal consequences assigned to an individual is also be
dependent on the amount of intoxication detected [1]. With these consequences in mind, it is
imperative that the test used to measure ethanol levels is reliable and accurate. If there is a
possibility that the enzymatic assays used widely throughout hospitals can be inaccurate under
certain conditions, it is necessary that the users and interpreters of those assays know that
interference can occur and when it might happen. If markers can be developed to determine when
further testing for ethanol should be done, the reliability of the test will be greatly increased. In this
study, the aim will be to determine if lactate and LDH in clinically possible antemortem
concentrations can cause a significant

A Literature Review On Biological Neural Network
Chapter 2: Literature Review
In this chapter, we discuss a brief introduction of neural network and biometrics . Traditionally, the
term neural network had been used to refer to a network or circuit of biological neurons. Neural
networks are inspired by our brains. The modern usage of the term often refers to artificial neural
networks, which are composed of artificial neurons or nodes. Thus, the term has two distinct usages:
2.1 Biological Neural Network generally, a biological neural network is consists of a set or sets of
chemically linked or functionally linked neurons. The human brain owns about 1014 synapses and
1011 neurons. A neuronconsisting of a soma (cell body),dendrites (receive signal) and axons (send

Elizabeth Bennet As An Idealist In Jane Austen s Pride And...
An idealist is someone who follows and is influenced by ideals and standards as opposed to
considering the practicalities of a situation. In other words, an idealist does not carefully think every
situation through, but rather responds to the norm instead. In Jane Austen s novel, Pride and
Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet, the novel s protagonist, is an intelligent and sharp individual, who is
profoundly interested in romantic relationships and getting married, as her mother wants her to do.
Elizabeth, willing to marry anyone for the sake of romance, becomes easily distracted and, in turn,
does not consider every aspect of the situations she entangles herself in before fastening
conclusions. Because she so easily succumbs to the powers of romance and often leaves her better
judgement at home, Elizabeth Bennet can be considered an idealist. At the dawn of the tale,
Elizabeth, searching fiercely for romance, comes across a handsome militia officer named George
Wickham. Elizabeth is instantly attracted to him; his pleasant appearance and charming personality
are enough to draw her in. As she listens to Wickham speak, especially negatively about Fitzwilliam
Darcy, an aristocrat, she does not question or slightly doubt a word that he is saying. She is so
swayed by his good looks and charming manner that she does not think for a second that he
could be a malicious man; she is falling under his spell ignorantly. Elizabeth s strong desire for
romance shuts down her judgement and causes her to fall in love with Wickham, without
thought. At this point, she thinks it is best to follow the standards and be an idealist, because
she has always been told to get married by her mother, Mrs. Bennet. Mrs. Bennet can take some
blame for Elizabeth s idealism, or strong desire for romance. She is constantly reminding her five
daughters that they must find a man in particular, a wealth man as soon as possible so they can
marry. Mrs. Bennet s desperation for her daughters wedlock is demonstrated when she says, If I
can but see one of my daughters happily settled at Netherfield, and all the others equally well
married, I shall have nothing to wish for (Austen 17). Perhaps this was Elizabeth s primary
influence in

Letting Go of Home
The East has a preoccupation with losing their home and the West is on a quest to recover it.
However, the West can accept that the home they seek may not exist anymore and imagine a future
without it whereas the East can see no acceptable alternative. We can see this when we compare
Salman Rushdie s At The Auction of the Ruby Slippers (ATARS) to his The Prophet s Hair.
The West is trying to reclaim the home they have lost and the East is trying to stop the home they
have from slipping away. Both stories contain portraits of a better past. However, ATARS is
referencing the past of the West, whereas The Prophet s Hair is referencing the presentof the East.

The Gale the narrator loves is not the real Gale, who he recently saw at the bar, but his idea of
what their home would be if they had stayed together. He realizes this. In The Prophet s Hair, the
instinct of the family is to piece their home back together, not to move away from the destructive
force of Hashim and The Prophet s Hair. An alternative to family is never considered because the
East cannot see a future without home. This seems like a trite observation, because it is likely that
there is a reason they never considered leaving a cultural reason. Perhaps it was unthinkable in their
society for a family to desert its male leader, but this is exactly the point. They never consider an
alternative because of the context of the culture.
The fact that the narrator of ATARS can see that his home may no longer exist, gives him the
perspective to see an alternative, that the East cannot. The reason that the East cannot see the
alternatives to its home that the West can is because that alternative is based on two ideas central
to Western culture: freedom and the free market. ATARS ends with the narrator feeling a
reduction in weight , a floating (102). The final passage is full of phrases which connote
lightness: weightlessness , float away and letting go: lie down [...] to rest (102). The narrator finds
resolution of his need for home in his freedom. The final passage of ATARS also

Literature And Songs Of Hebrew Literature
The people in mid 19th century, up until the beginning of 20th century, before the British
.helped to declare Israel a state; around Eastern Europe, the idea of nationality began to appear.
Up until now, Jewish people hadn t established a foundation that provided them with security;
there was no real place they could call home. Because they didn t have a place that was their
own, other nations around the world didn t view them as a nation, they were seen as
individuals. Around this time, anti Semitism began to emerge, it was time for the Jewish people
to come together as one and let go of their past and that desire drove them to a pivotal point in
Jewish history. By analyzing different pieces of Hebrew literature and songs that were written
during this time in history, the evidence shows that the definition of Jew changed and Jewish
people started to look at themselves differently and gained confidence to be a nation and not an
individual. Avraham Shlonsky wrote a poem titled Tiller of the Soil characterizes and defines
the Jew and his/her hard work for the land and their passion for it. The way Shlonsky uses the
words and play on words emphasizes the point of a hard working Jew. One of the lines that
Shlonsky states is, Never before was the distance so small, Between man, And camel, And sky.
This statement that he makes illustrates how the people are united with the land and their God, it
also expresses the feeling they ve always hoped and prayed for. Shlonsky

International Law And International Legal Theory
Since its beginning, the conflict in Eastern Ukraine has raised legal issues that get to the core of
International Law and international legal theory. In particular, the debate among legal experts has
focused on the question of secession, the right to self determination of people, and the respect of
the territorial integrity of States. The main concern of the scholarship has been to identify the
political and legal consequences of a secession of Ukraine s eastern territories and the possible
violations of International Law that would occur in such a situation. A less investigated aspect of
the conflict is the chance to find a legal solution to the hostilities, seeking to cease violence among
the parties and to settle the dispute under the aegis of the UN. This goal may be achieved with the
deployment of UN peacekeepingforces. The idea of a peacekeeping operation in Eastern Ukraine is
advanced following the requests sent to the UN by the Ukrainian Government in the last two
years. In particular, on 4 January 2016 the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN has
called for a UN peacekeeping mission in the region of Donbas. Previously, on 14 April 2014 and
on 23 February 2015, other two requests were filed for the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces
in the territory of Eastern Ukraine. In these last two requests reference was made to the possibility
to have the European Unioninvolved as a mediator among the opposing parties and as a regional

I will briefly outline the following: An introduction about Le Corbusier and his early years; A brief outline on his architectural career; His 5 points of architecture; Le Corbusier and the Villa Savoye; How does Villa Savoye demonstrate his 5 points of architecture; The influence of Le Corbusier s Villa Savoye on Modern Architecture; Conclusion Charles Edouard Jeanneret Gris, known under the pseudonym Le Corbusier, a name chosen by him, was an architect, designer, urbanist, writer and painter, considered one of the fathers of modern architecture. The first project entitled Contemporary City is for a city of 3 million inhabitants. The city comprised a group of skyscrapers cross shaped steel frames and glass walls giants, housing offices and homes for the rich, each placed in rectangular green areas. In their midst is a large transport hub with highways on several levels, and an airport on the top floor. Le Corbusier separates the pedestrian access routes for cars, the unconditional supporter of cars as a means of transport. The workers lived in the suburbs in zigzag blocks. The next project, Radiant City is built along the same principles, only blocks are no longer built on social criteria, but on the number of family members. Le Corbusier s early work was related to nature, but as his ideas progressed, he developed the Maison Domino, a basic building concept for mass production with free standing pillars and rigid floors. He settled in Paris in 1917 where he published his book called Vers une architecture (Towards a New Architecture), based on his earlier articles in L Esprit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Discrimination In Health And Social Care Essay The discrimination is based on ageism. Ageism means when someone discriminates a person according to their age. The patient feels that because she is old, the carers will think controlling her and not provide her with the care she needs is satisfying and the right thing to do. As well as this, the carers believe that old people are irrelevant and do not have feelings since old patients are near the end of their lives. The patient (old lady) also states how the care worker would shout at her which could make her feel small/inferior/scared compared to the carers and how whatever she says, it s irrelevant towards the carers therefore this leads her feeling isolated and alone. It lowers her confidence making her feel worthless and unwanted just... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the carer isn t aware of what the old lady needs or wants. Whenever she asks for something, the carer s would refuse, such as when the old patient chose from the food menu to eat vegetarian food as she dislikes fish or meaty products, (vegetarian) the carer didn t give her any other option apart from eating meat which the old lady doesn t prefer as her right to choice was taken away. This shows how she is being forced to do or eat things she doesn t like. The carer told her to listen to her and stop complaining about it. This could even have an effect on her religion or beliefs. Since maybe she s not allowed to eat something that s meaty. Furthermore this could affect the patient personally as she loses her rights to do what she wants. Therefore she won t argue back to prove her points and rights. Her short term will be affected as she will feel scared and threatened from the care workers as she may think that they would control what she does or hurt her if she was to complain or tell anyone. So this reinforces how her rights are very low and limited. This will affect her intellectual development because since her rights aren t being heard, she will give up trying and would consider herself unintelligent and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over the past 200,000 years, humans have adapted well to life on earth, through many generations. Manned missions to space have only been occurring for 55 years and humans haven t had the chance to adapt to its harsh environment and this can take a toll on the human body. The more serious effects of long term space flight include weightlessness (muscle atrophy and deterioration of the skeleton); slowing of the cardio vascular system functions, decrease in production of red blood cells, balance disorder and an overall weakening of the immune system. • 5. Essay On Valley Forge Dbq Death is all around you, what do you do? Valley Forge was a winter camp in 1777 to 1778 for the George Washington and his army. Valley Forge was 18 miles outside of Philadelphia. The winter at Valley Forge was long, cold, harsh, and horrible. Soldiers 9 month terms were about to end many wanted to go home. The question to us is would you re enlist or not re enlist? I have decided to re enlist for three reasons which are less soldiers, hard times, and support. It would not matter to me what happened I,am a loyal soldier. The first reason why I would re enlist is less soldiers. From December 1777 to the February 1778 4,000 people either left or died (Doc A). On February 1st 1778 3,989 people were sick out of 8,000 people(Doc A). Dr. Waldo says The army which has been surprisingly healthy, now begins to grow sickly. (Doc C). The so called summer soldier and the sunshine patriot are leaving(Doc D). Summer soldier and sunshine patriot means people that only like doing the fighting when it is easy. Soldiers that leave are summer soldiers, I do not want to be one of those. this reason is causing me to re enlist because less soldiers would make the army need more soldiers, so I will stay.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The army has poor food, hard lodging, cold weather, fatigue, nasty cookery, vomit, and lots of smoke (Doc C). Thomas Paine said These are the times that try men s souls. (Doc D). There was 1,800 to 2,500 deaths because of sickness (Doc A). There also was worn out shoes, nasty clothes, and everyone was starved (Doc C). There would be cries of NO MEAT! NO MEAT! that echoed back the melancholy sound (Doc C). Skin and eyes are almost spoiled with continual smoke. (Doc C). This is causing me to re enlist because hard times would make it harder to win so the army would need as many soldiers as they can ... • 6. Why I Want To Work On My Bachelor s Degree My plan right now is to work on my bachelor s degree. That is the first priority in my life. Currently I am an E 5 in the Navy. I have a year left at my current command. I have a goal to finish my bachelors in the next two and a half years. I have a year left on my current contract now. In the service, we call the number of years we have enlisted for contracts. I signed up for 3 years and February of 2017 my contract will be up. I plan on reenlisting for another 3 years to finish up my degree and save more money. My job I am doing right now involves Intel. I have been doing this for the past 6 years that I have been in the Navy. I am currently trying to rerate. Rating in the service is what we call our jobs. Law and legal work seems more interesting to me while I am in the service and is a better fit for me then being in the intel community. I know that I would enjoy it more being involved with people and learning about the laws of the military. If I cannot get another job while I am in the service I still plan on re enlisting for another 2 to 3 years anyway. I want to get my bachelor degree in Management Information Systems. I love the combination of Business and Information Systems and I feel that will be more competitive in the civilian world if I have a mixture of both fields. My plan is not to stay in the service for 20 years. I really find business to be fascinating. Business is a field that is constantly changing, things are being created, its fast paced, and in constant motion. The service can be stifling. My intentions were to only due a 4 year tour however, I did not want to get out of the service without my degree. It wasn t until recently I figured out what I wanted to do for college. • 8. Napoleon And Stalin Animal Farm Essay Animal Farm is a political allegory concerning power about the Russian Revolution. At the beginning of Animal Farm , power was used to achieve great things. It brought all animals of Manor Farm together but after an initial influence of power, it began to destroy the community that they had worked together to form. This can be seen by the character development of Napoleon who is thought to potray Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Unionduring the mid 1920 s. They were both leaders that abused their power and used ruthless methods to rule over the community. For instance, Napoleon and Stalin both abused their given power, one of the similarities between them was their act of violence. In the novella, Animal Farm by George orwell,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the novella, Animal Farm , by George Orwell, Orwell states, Napoleon had accepted, through Whymper, a contract for four hundred eggs a week.... Their method was to fly up the rafters and there lay their eggs, which smashed to pieces on the floor.... He [Napoleon] ordered the hens rations to be stopped and decreed that any animal giving so much as a grain of corn to a hen should be punished by death (pg.68). This means that Napoleon killed all the chickens because they didn t want to give them anymore eggs. Napoleon never consulted with the hens to give up their products. This is to symbolise what Stalin did in the past when he wanted to take the lands away from profiting farmers because private property is against the government and socialism. Both of them tried to control the food production and would not mind killing to get the production process smoother. Furthermore, both dictators ruled over their subjects with an iron hand. Orwell states, ...but it was cruel work, and the animals could not feel so hopeful about it as they had felt before. They were always cold and usually hungry as well (pg 66). This means that Napoleon would make the animals work hard no matter how the harsh conditions were. In relation to this, Stalin made loyal proletariat workers work hard until they got too tired and incompetent. Overall, both dictators governed their people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Interpersonal Communication In Fireproof Latoya, Fireproof is one of my all time favorite movies. Even though I am single, I love the message. Caleb and Catherine viewed their marriage as a contract, rather than a covenant. Mark 10:7 9 says, Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate (ESV). Caleb and Catherine did not have a biblical view of marriage, which had a negative effect on their communication. One of the major character flaws in the Holts was the fact they did not understand how to communicate effectively with one another. Whenever Caleb screamed at his wife, she responded with frustration and anger. Caleb did not show Catherine the love and respect she deserved; and as a result, she looked for love and respect elsewhere (Kendrick, 2008). Throughout the movie, Caleb s father challenged him to save his marriage utilizing The Love Dare (Kendrick, 2008). This tool helped Caleb develop his interpersonal communication skills. The Love Dare caused Caleb to study his wife and fully understand the desires of her heart, which was to purchase a new bed and wheelchair for her mother since she had suffered a stroke (Kendrick, 2008). Catherine had a desire for her mother to be more comfortable (Kendrick, 2008). A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation Hinduism is a vast and very complex religion to comprehend and consists of various different branches of philosophies. Although it is considered that Hinduism does not necessarily have one text that provides the guidelines for the contemporary Hindu devotee, like the Bible does for Christians, but there are a few scriptures that help identify the ultimate goal for the followers of Hinduism. The Upanishads try to exemplify the message of obtaining the righteous path as much as possible with rooting its context to the most ancient Hindu text, the Vedas. Even though accepting the Advaita Vedanta means that there is no classification of male or female amongst people, it still sets a barrier for women because according to the Dharmasharstras, women were unfit to learn Vedic rituals and studies which are key requirements of sannyasa (Khandelwal 2004: 37). Herein lies the most significant deviation from the classical perspective of renunciation in modernity; most contemporary female renouncers, also referred to as sannyasinis, have broken out of a tradition that is characterized by the renunciation of rituals. They therefore have effectively redefined renunciation on their own terms. Like most classical renouncers, sannyasinis also build vairgya and have completely detachment from worldly materials. But unlike the classical renunciation where a renouncer would go off to the forest and be by himself, the modern day female renouncers have become more involved in social activism (Khandelwal 2004: 49). This is a clear alteration from the classical renouncer because now the female renouncers are participating in a form of actions which is still continue their cycle of karma, whereas the end goal is to stop exactly that according to the classical practices. In Khandelwal s book Women in Ochre Robes, she uses various examples of how different women are using types of social activism throughout their practices. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Hedonism In Oscar Wilde s The Picture Of Dorian Gray In Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray, the author introduces the naive protagonist Dorian Gray as he undergoes rapid transformation to seek self indulgence through hedonism. Throughout the course of the novel, he demonstrates his allegiance to his beauty and seals his conscience in the form of a painting as to never expose the desecration of his soul to society. Oscar Wilde manipulates allusion, pessimistic diction, and subtle imagery to manifest Dorian s perpetual fear of his youthful deterioration being publicly showcased and the temptation of enamoring his aesthetic appearance, which facilitates the process of initiating the Faustian pact as a Byronic Hero. Assimilating to the role of a tragic hero, Dorian Gray exhibits an unconventional philosophy, hedonism, which contradicts the norms of the Victorian Era. Through this characteristic, his devotion to the aesthetics of his life takes precedence over morality and ethics. Extolling at the magnificence of his painting, symbolizing the consequences of his transgressions, is the manifestation of the temptation that has corrupted the sanctity of his cerebral cortex. In essence, his obsession with eternal youth, infinite passion, pleasures subtle and secret, wild joys and wilder sins were the focus of his existence from which the allusion to the Faustian legend can be interpreted as dealing with supernatural forces of nature to further his conviction. Tempted by the extravagant luxuries that are limited to humanity for a short period of time hinders one from using it to its full potential. Relinquishing his virtues by bequeathing it to the portrait, he surrenders to his temptations as he draws the screen back into its former place in front of the picture, smiling as he did so... if the picture was to alter, it was to alter. That was all. Desiring a selfish satisfaction that goes against conventional wisdom qualifies as a sin, due to his excessive lifestyle consisting of no consequences. Once in the fight, Eisenhower never exerted the control over his subordinate commanders necessary to direct them to stop the German evacuation of Sicily. This perhaps changed the trajectory of the war. If the Allies captured the 15th Panzer DIV in Sicily, this weakens the Axis capability to defend Italy possibly, providing the Allies an avenue of approach to Southern Germany in 1943. These deficiencies led his senior subordinates to develop their own diverging commander s intent. Admiral Andrew Cunningham, Air Chief Marshall Arthur Tedder and General Harold Alexander, all British and Eisenhower senior lieutenants, constructed additional Commander s intent and personalized operational understanding of Husky that facilitated their own additional operational end states, beyond the capture of Sicily. Admiral Cunningham wanted to ensure the safety of his fleet and refused to operate in the contested waters near Italy. Air Chief Marshall Tedder, above all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. I Have Pretty Serious Concerns About Donald Trump Just like on television, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump dominated the discussion among a handful of voters scattered around Wayne County Tuesday. All said this election was an important one and a big one which could change the direction the country is headed and change how elections are done in the future. For some, like Jennifer Gunnoe, who lives overseas in Tbilisi, Georgia, Trump was among the motivating factors in getting out to vote. I have pretty serious concerns about Donald Trump, Gunnoe said. I want my candidate to win, but another major motivating factor is the state of our country if Donald Trump is elected. Gunnoe and her family are back in the United States for some rest and relaxation, and she wanted to cast her vote for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. She cast a provisional ballot at the Wayne County Board of Elections. Eleanor Tylka went to the parish hall at St. Mary Catholic Church to vote, which she feels is an obligation. There was quite a bit to vote on, a little bit more than usual, she said. I think there is a candidate who will help this country, Tylka said. She is supporting Ohio Gov. John Kasich for president. She, too, is concerned about the one who would destroy the country. She would not say who, but she did say, You can figure that out. This election is going to tell how our country is going to go, said David Calvert, Smithville, who voted at Smithville United Methodist Church. I think Trump is going to take us ... My mother and father are the most important people in my life alongside my younger brother. Nothing that I have acquired would have been possible without their sacrifices and support. I believe that family is one of the agents of socialization that has shaped me the most as well as my peers and the educational institutions that I have attended so far. I was born in Glendale, California, but I have lived my entire life in an area close by known as Cypress Park. The area was and still is mainly populated by Latino Americans. Almost half of my neighbors are first generation Mexican Americans while the other half are 1.5 generation Mexican Americans who came to this country at a very young age like my father and mother. • 32. How Did The French Revolution Influence Art The French Revolution and the Art it Influenced Liberty, equality, fraternity, or death; the last, much the easiest to bestow, O Guillotine! wrote the famous author Charles Dickens, in his classic book, The Tale of Two Cities. The French Revolution (1789 1796) was a fight for liberty and equality, which ultimately led to the execution of Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI, by way of guillotine. And, eventually Napoleon Bonaparte became the ruler of France. This was a transforming time in not just France s history, but European history and World history. The people of France were fed up with the monarchy and the burden of high taxes, as the monarch rulers squandered money away while the people faced famine and poverty. The Revolution was so powerful that artists not only painted about it, but they became revolutionaries themselves, like Jacques Louis David, who is famous for his works, Oath of the Horratii, and Napoleon Crossing the Alps. In 1830, the second French Revolution broke out and this was known as the Three Glorious Days , in which the people of France protested Charles X after he imposed ordinances that prevented freedom of the press and increased the power of his monarchy ( French Revolution , n.d.). The famous allegorical painting by Eugene Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People, is a historical depiction of the second French Revolution and illustrates the connection between socioeconomic and political issues, and art. This paper will look at David s Napoleon Crossing the Alps, and Delacroix s Liberty Leading the People and analyze the impact of the French Revolution on art of those periods. Jacques Louis David (1748 1825) was one of the most famous Neoclassist painters, as well as a devout revolutionary in 19th century France. He painted works that some consider propaganda of the time, yet he did so in pure Neoclassical fashion (Pollitt, n.d.). Eventually, he became the personal painter for Napoleon Bonaparte, as he continued to support the revolution through art. In Napoleon Crossing the Alps, we see a diagonal, yet static composition. The diagonal that is created by the horse is reminiscent of Baroque figures, yet it lacks the movement that the Baroque style portrayed so well. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ramifications of these failing experiments cost companies millions of dollars. Furthermore, PETA explains that there are several drugs that are essential to human medicine that react quite negatively in animals. For example, aspirin kills cats and causes birth defects in several other animals including dogs and monkeys. If that drug had first been tested on cats, it never would have reached the market and provided the extensive relief it has to date. Also, animals in laboratories to be experimented upon are known to display understandably stressed behavior which jeopardizes the accuracy and credibility of the results. Naturally, it is difficult to understand why anyone would confess to a crime they didn t commit. However, while these ideals may seem dated, Machiavelli s description holds many similarities and differences to American politics today. Machiavelli s views on republics serve as the first difference between his political views and the American government. Machiavelli generally puts those in a republic in a negative light by claiming that the subjects of a republic are not used to standing up for themselves and cannot agree to give themselves a leader. Therefore, it is not a sturdy government to capture. Instead of finding the idea of no singular person being a leader a good way to ensure statewide cooperation and content, Machiavelli claims that, In republics there is more vitality, greater hatred, and more desire for vengeance, (Machiavelli, Chapter V). Which is a far cry to the American government s oath to all of its freedoms and liberties. Machiavelli moves on to say that the safest way to capture a republic state is to destroy it altogether. This shows his views on republics are very much negative and that he believes they are almost a nuisance to a prince trying to maintain a state. Of course this is a drastic difference to the American government, where its subjects thrive in a republic. In Negroland and Fun Home, Margo Jefferson and Alison Bechdel both view their individual lives and identities as interacting with history. However, their perceptions of history differ vastly in that Jefferson identifies herself as both a spectator and player in a giant game of sociocultural history, while Bechdel perceives national history as a tape reeling alongside her life, shaping her worldview but serving as a backdrop amidst her individual life. Thus, expectations and conventions are imposed upon members of Negroland, such as Jefferson, so that they embody the privileges that arose over time from a complex and dynamic social hierarchy. For Jefferson, personal and racial histories are heavily interconnected, as denoted when she makes references to various historical and familial figures. Tracing the evolution of this hierarchy through the ages from the Civil War up to the present, Jefferson cites a fellow chronicler of Negroland, Anna Julia Cooper, the daughter of a slave and a slaveholder, a Black Woman of the South who criticizes the masculinist need to dominate domestically, nationally, and internationally; Cooper s collective voice for the oppressed parallels Jefferson s personal concern with race, gender, and class. However, Jefferson also emphasizes the collective Du Boisian double consciousness that Negroes in the Talented Tenth and in Negroland must face, thinking about Them as Us, forced to dismiss aspirations and professional duties and accept those in lower strata as equals (Jefferson 34). Jefferson undergoes a double consciousness of her own in her childhood as well, when she is forced to conform to expectations due to her status as an upper class Negro, expectations which force her to be ambushed by insult and humiliation even though these expectations are set to prevent errors and ... The presence and level of alcohol in a victim or perpetrator s system has great bearing on their behavior and frame of mind. As a result, the amount of alcohol in a person s blood can serve as a strong piece of evidence. From a sentencing standpoint, the level of legal consequences assigned to an individual is also be dependent on the amount of intoxication detected [1]. • 48. Elizabeth Bennet As An Idealist In Jane Austen s Pride And... An idealist is someone who follows and is influenced by ideals and standards as opposed to considering the practicalities of a situation. In other words, an idealist does not carefully think every situation through, but rather responds to the norm instead. In Jane Austen s novel, Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet, the novel s protagonist, is an intelligent and sharp individual, who is profoundly interested in romantic relationships and getting married, as her mother wants her to do. Elizabeth, willing to marry anyone for the sake of romance, becomes easily distracted and, in turn, does not consider every aspect of the situations she entangles herself in before fastening conclusions. Because she so easily succumbs to the powers of romance and often leaves her better judgement at home, Elizabeth Bennet can be considered an idealist. At the dawn of the tale, Elizabeth, searching fiercely for romance, comes across a handsome militia officer named George Wickham. Elizabeth is instantly attracted to him; his pleasant appearance and charming personality are enough to draw her in. As she listens to Wickham speak, especially negatively about Fitzwilliam Darcy, an aristocrat, she does not question or slightly doubt a word that he is saying. She is so swayed by his good looks and charming manner that she does not think for a second that he could be a malicious man; she is falling under his spell ignorantly. Elizabeth s strong desire for romance shuts down her judgement and causes her to fall in love with Wickham, without thought. At this point, she thinks it is best to follow the standards and be an idealist, because she has always been told to get married by her mother, Mrs. Bennet. Mrs. Bennet can take some blame for Elizabeth s idealism, or strong desire for romance. She is constantly reminding her five daughters that they must find a man in particular, a wealth man as soon as possible so they can marry. Mrs. Bennet s desperation for her daughters wedlock is demonstrated when she says, If I can but see one of my daughters happily settled at Netherfield, and all the others equally well married, I shall have nothing to wish for (Austen 17). Perhaps this was Elizabeth s primary influence in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Letting Go of Home The East has a preoccupation with losing their home and the West is on a quest to recover it. However, the West can accept that the home they seek may not exist anymore and imagine a future without it whereas the East can see no acceptable alternative. We can see this when we compare Salman Rushdie s At The Auction of the Ruby Slippers (ATARS) to his The Prophet s Hair. The West is trying to reclaim the home they have lost and the East is trying to stop the home they have from slipping away. Both stories contain portraits of a better past. However, ATARS is referencing the past of the West, whereas The Prophet s Hair is referencing the presentof the East. ATARS is related to the reader by a single character, as it happens, in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Gale the narrator loves is not the real Gale, who he recently saw at the bar, but his idea of what their home would be if they had stayed together. He realizes this. In The Prophet s Hair, the instinct of the family is to piece their home back together, not to move away from the destructive force of Hashim and The Prophet s Hair. An alternative to family is never considered because the East cannot see a future without home. This seems like a trite observation, because it is likely that there is a reason they never considered leaving a cultural reason. Perhaps it was unthinkable in their society for a family to desert its male leader, but this is exactly the point. They never consider an alternative because of the context of the culture. The fact that the narrator of ATARS can see that his home may no longer exist, gives him the perspective to see an alternative, that the East cannot. The reason that the East cannot see the alternatives to its home that the West can is because that alternative is based on two ideas central to Western culture: freedom and the free market. ATARS ends with the narrator feeling a reduction in weight , a floating (102). The final passage is full of phrases which connote lightness: weightlessness , float away and letting go: lie down [...] to rest (102). The narrator finds resolution of his need for home in his freedom. The final passage of ATARS also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Literature And Songs Of Hebrew Literature The people in mid 19th century, up until the beginning of 20th century, before the British .helped to declare Israel a state; around Eastern Europe, the idea of nationality began to appear. Up until now, Jewish people hadn t established a foundation that provided them with security; there was no real place they could call home. Because they didn t have a place that was their own, other nations around the world didn t view them as a nation, they were seen as individuals. Around this time, anti Semitism began to emerge, it was time for the Jewish people to come together as one and let go of their past and that desire drove them to a pivotal point in Jewish history. By analyzing different pieces of Hebrew literature and songs that were written during this time in history, the evidence shows that the definition of Jew changed and Jewish people started to look at themselves differently and gained confidence to be a nation and not an individual. Avraham Shlonsky wrote a poem titled Tiller of the Soil characterizes and defines the Jew and his/her hard work for the land and their passion for it. The way Shlonsky uses the words and play on words emphasizes the point of a hard working Jew. One of the lines that Shlonsky states is, Never before was the distance so small, Between man, And camel, And sky. This statement that he makes illustrates how the people are united with the land and their God, it also expresses the feeling they ve always hoped and prayed for. Shlonsky ... FFA Drones Case As an agriculture surveyor who is trying to utilize drones to increase the efficiency of the surveying the land for my customers, I would have a lot to consider before starting usage of the drones. Currently, the FFA has been given the power to create federal regulations around the operation of drones, but they have not been clearly defined yet which would make operating drones. Some states and local municipalities have even also created their own statutes in order to keep up with the technology. Due to the fragmented rules governing different areas and a lack of clear regulation from the federal government, operating a drone could open my business up to substantial unforeseen liabilities. Some of the issues that should be considered are trespassing, privacy, negligence, and the regulatory environment. Even then understanding the risk doesn t prevent something from happening. • 54. International Law And International Legal Theory Since its beginning, the conflict in Eastern Ukraine has raised legal issues that get to the core of International Law and international legal theory. In particular, the debate among legal experts has focused on the question of secession, the right to self determination of people, and the respect of the territorial integrity of States. The main concern of the scholarship has been to identify the political and legal consequences of a secession of Ukraine s eastern territories and the possible violations of International Law that would occur in such a situation. A less investigated aspect of the conflict is the chance to find a legal solution to the hostilities, seeking to cease violence among the parties and to settle the dispute under the aegis of the UN. This goal may be achieved with the deployment of UN peacekeepingforces. The idea of a peacekeeping operation in Eastern Ukraine is advanced following the requests sent to the UN by the Ukrainian Government in the last two years. In particular, on 4 January 2016 the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN has called for a UN peacekeeping mission in the region of Donbas. Previously, on 14 April 2014 and on 23 February 2015, other two requests were filed for the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in the territory of Eastern Ukraine. In these last two requests reference was made to the possibility to have the European Unioninvolved as a mediator among the opposing parties and as a regional provider of ...
