Digital students - Is there a Gap? presentation at the EDEN 2012, PortoDiana Andone
'Digital students' are defined as young adult students who have grown up with active participation in technology as an everyday feature of their lives. This is an attempt to identify the relation between the use of a certain technology and the respective digital students characteristics. The introduction of these characteristics had an influence on the requisite the students require from learning and communication.

Social Media in Education - social media can act as a 'GLUE' that binds learners and fosters learning conversations that add coherence to otherwise fragmented knowledge on the web. Social Media can also act as a 'FILTER' to sift and find relevant information online.
As the volume of free internet resources continue to grow exponentially there are opportunities for stakeholders in education – parents, teachers, administrators and policy makers - to facilitate community access to this e-content. This presentation focuses on free social media tools, mobile apps and other innovative technologies which have been adopted by educators in 21st century global communities. Attendees will learn about the latest trends in cloud storage, crowdfunding, ebooks, makerspaces, MOOCs, news aggregation, photo/video sharing, self-publishing, social networking, bookmarking, video conferencing, visualization services and augmented reality. The goal – to promote ‘Tech Tools’ which can be easily integrated into the home and working environment.

What is the purpose of a digital citizenship program? Who is the audience in schools - teachers, parents, students? This presentation looks at some of the research and discusses the factors to consider when developing a digital citizenship program for your school.
Moreton Bay College is a P-12 Girls’ School on the eastern outskirts of Brisbane. Three years ago the decision was taken at executive level that filtering was not the solution to our students’ cybersafety. In fact, stringent filtering was proving counter productive, as many new and potentially useful Web 2.0 sites were being blocked. The proliferation of 3G devices and the constant battle against proxy bypass sites also meant that filtering as a solution was doomed to failure. This presentation will look at the steps the school has taken to foster a climate of digital citizenship with its students inpreparation for the schools’ 1-to-1 implementation that began this year.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

This project is the brainchild of Severo E. Santos, also known as
“Sonnie”, a Human Resource Executive turned Micro
Entrepreneur. The idea was conceptualized on June 2010, as an
offshoot to his training module “Protect Your Brand: Use Social
Web Responsibly”.
As a social web advocate, he thought “If adults are affected by
their irresponsible or ignorant use of the web, how much more are
B
kids?” He shared his idea to Facebook buddies, and support for the
project poured in. On July 10, 2010, the 1st web safety seminar
dubbed as “Keep Your Kids Safe Online” was held at Microsoft
Philippines auditorium. Since then, this web safety seminar
became a road show.

5. 2011
This year, Web Safety PH embarks on a
higher goal to add more value in educating
the public of the online risks, cybercrimes,
and preventive measures.
To jumpstart it’s 2011 campaign, Yahoo!
and Web Safety PH joined forces to bring
the advocacy to the next level, collaborate
on PH data, community engagement, and
by making web safety materials accessible.
While we will continue with the road
shows, we will also hold a cyber safety
camp or convention in partnership with
other organizations. Specialized program
will be offered to professionals and
corporations too.
In addition, Web Safety PH will publish a
book about online safety, posters for
schools, anime-comics for kids.
We will partner with a school in setting up
an anti-cyber bullying program.
Beyond 2011, by partnering with the
Government, we hope to
1. Provide inputs to local government
units in regulating Internet cafés.
2. Partner w/ PNP Cybercrime unit in
their web safety campaign
3. Collaborate with Dept. of Education in
incorporating Web Safety in primary
and secondary education
4. Provide input, when necessary, in
formulating cyber-related laws.
It is also our distant goal to launch a
process for a “web safety seal” [an ISO type Youth Edition @ Waltermart Makati
certification] in partnership with
Government and the private sector
