Informative Influences On The Victimization Of American...
Without a doubt, our language usage is becoming increasingly casual. Some argue that this is due to
the influence of American culture. While it is not pervasive, the assimilation of American culture in
Australia can be partly responsible for this trend. However, the predominant reason for our informal
language use is due to increasing connectivity through social media and other modern communication
services. Despite this trend, the register of discourses is still dictated by the context and setting of the
situation.
American culture influences the informality of language that Australians employ in everyday life to
some degree, especially for the younger generations. Australians watch a large number of American
movies and TV shows, arguably even more than Australian based entertainment. This has led to the
adoption of informal American colloquialisms such as bro , whatever and chill out by many
Australians. In addition, Bruce Moore remarks, Contemporary teenspeak comes from the world of
teenage popular culture, and this culture is largely American . Teenagers are more open to change and
actively follow new popular trends in vocabulary. Most of these latest developments in language have
originated in America, as it contains 60% of the Anglosphere population. Therefore, it is no surprise ...

Netspeak aims to communicate information as efficiently as possible, utilizing examples such as the
acronym ASAP and the ellipsis Talk later to improve economy of expression. Some teenagers even
adopt this language in informal spoken settings, which further spreads its usage among the Australian
public. Even older generations who are not familiar with social media and prefers face to face
communication uses netspeak when talking with youths in order to be more relatable while reducing

Rebellion In The Handmaid s Tale
In The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood, there is the addressing of freedom, abuse of power,
feminism, rebellion and sexuality. The audience is transported to a disparate time where things
normalized in our current society are almost indistinguishable. Atwood uses each character carefully
to display the set of theme of rebellion within the writing, really giving the reader a taste of what the
environment is like by explaining detailed interactions, and consequences as well as their role in
society. Moira is first introduced as one of the most influential, rebellious characters, almost instantly
does she become the epitome of insubordination. Before Gilead was established Moira generally wasn

It was Moira s idea , Offred s reasoning for throwing water bombs on the men trying to climb up for
the Under whore celebration. (Atwood 58) As Offred tells of her experiences that lead her up to her
development, Moira s rebellious attitude entices her. Offred makes a habit of visiting the bathroom,
not to use it but to communicate with Moira. Moira is slowly luring Offred to break the rules, trying to
turn Offred from being a submissive woman to a woman who ll stand up for what she believes in.
Still, Offred tries to persuade Moira to follow the rules instituted by Gilead for her own benefit more
than Moira s. When Moira decides to fake an illness, Offred advises against it, only for her safety. I
couldn t stand the thought of her not being here, with me. For me Offred knows that without Moira
remaining in the centre with her she could not be as strong in herself as she would had Moira decided
to stay. (Atwood 89) Without having Moira there with her Offred begins to become slightly more
rebellious. Knowing the Handmaids are not allowed to discuss each other, Offred pursues to ask Aunt
Lydia if she knows where Moira is. Through this action does Offred also start to look into the
rebellious attitudes of her mother. Offred recalls an outfit she wore, similar to Unwomen, (before
Gilead), that allows her to truly recognize her mother s beauty regardless

he was utterly different and could not be silenced (Hester, 1963, p. 155).

Philip: He was from Bethsaida of Galilee, the village of Peter and Andrew. Since the primary industry
of this village was fishing it is likely Philip was also a fisherman. (Crouse, 2010). Bartholomew:
Bartholomew means son of Tolmai. It is therefore, not his name.
Most scholars believe Nathanael is to be identified as Bartholomew If he is Nathanael, he was from
Cana of Galilee. When he was told that Jesus was from Nazareth he replied: Can any good thing come

Philip (John 1:46, NIV Bible. 2005). Thomas: His name is Aramaic meaning twin. John uses the
Greek rendering Didymus which means the same thing. Because of his name it is assumed that he had
a twin brother or sister (Crouse, 2010). Matthew: Luke gives his name as Levi. The name Matthew
(Matthias) means gift of God and may be the name given him by the Lord as he did other disciples. He
was the son of Alphaeus. The name Levi could mean he was of the tribe of Levi. By profession he
worked for the Romans as a tax collector. This of course means he was hated by the people. His home

What Are The Ethics Of Computer Ethics
Computer Ethics
Computer ethics is the systematic study of the ethical and social impact of computers in the
information society. The ethical and social issues under discussion involve the acquisition,
distribution, storage, processing and dissemination of digital data in information systems and how
individuals and groups interact with these systems and data. The moral considerations of computer
ethics are related to the responsibility and accountability of the computer users and professionals with
regard to the design and implementation of information systems. Computer ethics also includes the
study of the policies, rules, and legislations that refer to a particular situation and the alternative
ethical decisions, as well as the social implications of these alternatives. Computers are a special
technology and they raise some special ethical issues. Computer ethics are the moral guidelines that
govern the use of computers and information system. These computer ethics are divided into two parts
namely the analysis of nature and social impact of computer technology and the corresponding
formulation and justification of policies for the ethical use of such technology. Computer technology

Anne Frank Wrote about the Good Underneath
Anne Frank once wrote Despite everything, I believe that people are still really good at heart and I
personally agree with this statement. Anne Frank was a Dutch, Jewish girl who went into hiding
during the Holocaust. She and her family were hiding from the Nazis in the time of World War II. The
Jewish were one of the people to starve in Hitler s Hunger Plan. Anne during her time in hiding wrote
in her diary that in today s time is published. Sadly, after a few years of hiding, she was arrested and
died at a concentration camp. Her words however still affect our time and rings out. She s able to see
the light through all the darkness and that s where her quote comes and it rings true. People are really
good at heart. People show goodness in many ways whether the gesture be big or small. In The Last
Seven Months of Anne Frank, Willy Lindwer interviewed Hannah Elisa Pick Goslar who was a
personal friend of Anne. Hannah at the time was going through a rough part in her life. She lost her
father and her sister was ill. When she went to Burgen Belsen, she was reunited with Anne. She
(Hannah Elisa Pick Goslar) would stand outside the fence and the two would speak to each other.
Anne believed her father was dead along with her mother. Hannah of course didn t know their
whereabouts. However to provide relief to Anne, with the goodness of her heart, she threw packages
of food over the fence. She did this four times before Anne got moved to another part of the camp.

Love in Anton Chekhov’s The Lady with the Dog
Love has always been a controversial issue throughout centuries. However, it was, and is, still one of
the most popular topics in literature. One cannot help but be reminded of Shakespeare s Romeo and
Juliet when that particular topic is brought up, which is one of the finest examples on this topic.
Despite all the literary works written about love, love itself remains unexplained. The questions why
and when is often asked it can usually be answered vaguely or deeply, but sometimes it remians
unanswered. In Pride and Prejudice Jane Austen makes Mr Darcy, who has captured young girls hearts
for decades, say I cannot fix on the hour, or the spot, or the look, or the words, which laid the
foundation. It is too long ago. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The water was a warm, tender purple, the moonlight lay on its surface in a golden strip. (84)
The scene looks completely ordinary, yet there are traces of positive emotions in the descriptions of
the water and the moonlight. This particular moment is seemingly not that significant, however, gives
the reader a sense that Gurov obviously feel better in the presence of this particular woman, that this
woman is like no other woman he had affairs with. In other words, foreshadowing the deep connection
between the two. Gurov himself realises this very later, after these particular moments haunt him after
they are seperated. The questions that begin with why should be answered at this point. First quesiton
is, Why did Gurov fall in love with this particular woman, after all those years of having affairs? . This
question has several answers, which are merely theories that the readers can choose from as they
please. One interesting theory involves Gurov and his twelve year old daughter. According to Yael
Greenberg, Gurov unconsciously compares Anna with his own daughter (127). He proves his point by
giving examples in which Anna s innocence is constantly being reminded. At some point, Gurov even
thinks about Anna s age by considering

Cabaret Play Analysis
Cabaret (1998) by Joe Masteroff, John Kander and Fred Ebb is a thrilling tale set in pre WWI Berlin.
The first showing of Cabaret on Broadway was in 1966, but an earlier rendition of the play, entitled I
Am a Camera premiered in 1951, in London, England (Smith). Each version of Cabaret has
differences, the 1998 version specifically has a darker edge than the earlier versions. Cabaret has long
been one of my favorite musicals and I felt very honored to get to be a part of CMC s production. The
main theme of the play is adaptation. This is a main theme because the story of Cabaret highlights a
very tumultuous time in history and the characters were forced to adapt to the changes; a skill that
everyone in the world must learn to do. Sopris Theatre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most important dances in the entire show is If You Could See Her . Sung by the Emcee, If
You Could See Her is the last comedic scene of the show, mainly because the Emcee s partner is a
Gorilla. I had the honor of both choreographing this dance and playing the Gorilla in the show. I made
the decision while choregraphing to play off the initial humor of the Gorilla, making my movements
very grounded and jerky. The song however is not truly happy and the Emcee states at the end that if
you could see her through my eyes, referring to the Gorilla, she wouldn t look Jewish at all . I wanted
this line to have impact with the audience. To achieve this, I choreographed the Emcee and myself not
moving, fist looking at each other and then looking to the audience, almost accusingly when he refers
to the Gorilla as being Jewish. In dance some of most powerful moments are when there is no
movement, and I used this idea to my advantage in this dance. I was very satisfied with the gasps and
reactions of shock that we were able to achieve in that moment. I believe that the use of dance in
Cabaret help make the messages so impactful and was so excited to help create the dances for CMC s

Brotherhood And Morality In SEAL Team Six By Howard Wasdin
In chapters ten and eleven of SEAL Team Six, the primary author, Howard Wasdin utilizes the themes
of morality and brotherhood while depicting the nail biting Operation Gothic Serpent. The purpose of
this operation was to ultimately capture Aidid, or his lieutenants. Military fraternity is crucial to
performing any task. Wasdin s purpose was to stress the importance of the combination of brotherhood
and morality. Wasdin draws the reader into the story by the use of the themes of brotherhood and
morality. Brotherhood has a few different definitions that can both be applied to those involved in
missions. The most common definition of brotherhood is a relationship between brothers. SEALs must
form a relationship with their partners. In this case, Wasdin and Casanova were ... Show more content

communicate with the other sniper pair...Then we all had to communicate with our forward operating

similar mindset. We had learned how to control feelings of frustration (224). The military is composed
of many different ranking officers, but each person is vital in succeeding in completing missions. Sure

A Report On Solar Thermal Energy
Solar Thermal Energy
Introduction
Solar thermal technology uses the sun s energy, instead of fossil fuels, to get cheap, environmentally
friendly thermal energy. This energy is employed to heat water or different fluids, and can also power
solar cooling systems. Solar thermal systems vary from solar PV systems that generate electricity
instead of heat.
World Solar Market
The world has giant solar energy resources that haven t been greatly used so far. Alternative energy
presently accounts for a tiny share of world primary energy consumption, however its use is projected
to extend powerfully over the outlook amount to 2030.
The highest solar resource potential per unit surface area is within the Red Sea area. Australia
conjointly has higher incident alternative energy per unit area than the other continent within the
world. However, the distribution of solar energy use amongst countries reflects government policy
settings that encourage its use, rather than resource availability.
Australia receives a mean of 58 million PJ of radiation per annum, close to 10,000 times larger than its
total energy consumption of 5772 PJ in 2007 08. In theory, then, if only 0.1 per cent of the incoming
radiation may be regenerate into usable energy at an efficiency of 10%, all of Australia s energy
desires may be provided by solar power. Similarly, the energy falling on a solar Darwin, Brisbane,
Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Hobart farm covering 50km by 50km would be spare to

The Effects Of Climatic Factors For Mean Air Climate
Climate change will affect the regional ETref trend. To explore quantify the effects of climatic factors
on ETref, sensitivity coefficients for mean air temperature (S(TA)), relative humidity (S(RH)), wind
speed (S(WS)), and solar radiation (S(SR)) in each time period of HRB are shown were listed in Table
3. The results revealed that ETref was most sensitive to change of RH, followed by SR, TA and WS.
Meanwhile, the value of sensitivity coefficient of WS was lower than that of the other climatic factors,
which suggests that ETref had low sensitivity to change of WS. For the entire HRB, the negative
sensitivity coefficient was detected for RH that was negatively correlated to the ETref , while the

youth engaged, and 21,000 pounds of trash collected may not seem like much they are just examples
of the type s work that was done in 2014. (Healthy futures is a VISTA common core goal.)
(Conservation Legacy, 2014)
Measurements of Success:
The VISTA program is assessed based on several factors including the amount of money raised, the
number of communities served, the number of youth engaged in volunteerism programs, the number
of volunteer hours worked. These measurements of success are not tied directly to the goals of poverty
alleviation, however they are indicative of whether those issues are being addressed because VISTAs
are not able to do direct service, meaning that if money is not raised and volunteers do not show up the
projects will not move (Conservation Legacy, 2014). In 2007, the Office of Management and Budget
ran an assessment on the VISTA program based on the original purpose of the program and its design,
strategic planning, program management, and program results. The scale for the assessment was based
on 0 3 stars. The VISTA program received 1 star designating it as adequate. While the program was
successful in design and management, it underperformed in planning and results (U.S. Office of

Vincent Willem Van Gogh Research Paper
Vincent Willem Van Gogh was a Dutchman born on March 30, 1853 in Groot Zundert, Netherlands.
The Starry Night is one of Van Gogh s famous paintings in the world. It was believed that his painting
was the view from his bedroom window. After a petition was signed saying Vincent Van Gogh was
dangerous, they moved him to an asylum. He lived in a hospital where he suffered occasional relapse
into delusions. While he was there, he was able to read, paint and withdraw from his room. As he was
going through depression, Van Gogh then began to have hallucinations and even have thoughts of
suicide. His art helped him stay emotionally balanced. He then started to paint The Starry Night, and
used dark colors. For example, in the painting he clearly paints all the buildings dark and black and
paints the stars and the moon brighter to make it stand out more. In his painting, he included a cypress
tree which is usually found in cemeteries and represent mourning. There were rumors about his death,

to some foreshadowed a sad and droopy day but I saw the hopeful rays of sunshine attempting to leak
through the dull, gray bars that separated the warm sun from the cool ground. The lake house: a place
where I enjoyed the fruits of having a friendship with the daughter of the family who owned the
house. From wakeboarding to tubing to boat rides the lake offered all the amenities one could hope for
in a fairly large body of water. Yet these forms of entertainment only amount to the smallest fraction
of why the lake house is so integral to my contentment.
The dock has a fine hardwood finish that prevents painful splinters, plenty of comfortable lawn chairs
to sit in, an emerald green table where I have played countless hours of Settlers of Catan, and an
American flag that flutters majestically in the wind. The view, needless to say, is breathtaking. In the
chilly, gray mornings that accompany my lake house visits, I wake up early, amble to the dock, plop
down on a comfortable lawn chair, and gaze out into the body of water that is Weiss Lake. The smooth
waves undulate across the calm surface of the lake as if a herder is flocking his sheep slowly back into
the red barn house. The ripples create a sense of inner calm that permeates throughout ... Show more

The Global Catch Of Shrimp Species
1. Introduction
Penaeid shrimps (Family Penaeidae: Rafinesque, 1815) are the most economically important
crustaceans in the world as a primitive group of decapod (Abele, 1991; Chan, 1998; Dall et al., 1990).
The family has a world wide distribution in shallow, inshore tropical and subtropical waters. The
highest diversity of the family members occurs in the Indo West Pacific region with about 205 species
grouped into 26 genera (Farfante and Kensley, 1997; Martin and Davis, 2001; McLaughlin et al.,
2005; Nizinski, 2003). The global catch of shrimp species is about 3.4 million tons/year. More than
half of which are caught from the Western and Northwest Central Pacific fisheries, besides the
contribution of other essential fisheries in the Indian and in the Western Atlantic Oceans (FAO, 2014).
Shrimps remain to be the largest single product in value terms accounting about 15 % of the
internationally traded fisheries products in 2012. Moreover, shrimps are primarily produced in
developing countries, and much of this production progressively expands in the international trade. As
the economic conditions develop in these countries, growing demand leads to high domestic
consumption leading to fewer exports. Such high demand and the subsequent overexploitation are
negatively impacting the standing stocks of shrimp which fall below the healthy standard levels. This
requires regular monitoring, assessment and management of each species to keep tracking of the
effects of such

would outweigh price considerations. The Company, capitalizing on the exponential growth in this
segment has adopted the following changes to their marketing mix aspect of Price and Products.
PRICE: A typical customer in this market segment would demand quality products / services. The
Company over the past years have increased the quality of their ice cream duly enhancing its taste, by
the usage of better quality raw materials, eg: milk, flavouring, in their products. Though this would
increase their base production cost, profit margins are enhanced by charging customer a premium for
making available quality ice cream. The premium charged would be relative to the cost of dining at
fast food chains such as McDonalds, Burger King etc. What would previously be considered a basic
priced item in the market would now be premium priced to provide the perceived value to the targeted
market segment.
PROCESS/PLACE: A customer who pays a premium to dine at a Swenson s retail outlet would desire

Evidence Asimov Analysis
Robots coexisting in the human world can be beneficial to many people s lives by allowing tasks to be
performed at a much faster rate. By Google definition robots are machines capable of carrying out a
complex series of actions automatically, especially one programmable by a computer; (especially in
Science Fiction) a machine resembling a human being and able to replicate certain human movements
and functions automatically. Many people think of robots as metal machines that come in various
shapes and sizes; not machines that look and act in such ways like a human. Robots and other alike
machines are widely used across the globe. In factories, schools, homes, hospitals... Whilst technology
grows, the need for these complex machines becomes much greater. These machines are able to
perform tasks at a much greater speed, accuracy, and complexity compared to manual labor. In
Asimov s short story Evidence, a man by the name of Stephen Byerley was in a horrific accident that
should have resulted in his death. When Stephen runs for mayor, Frances Quinn, his runner up, claims
that the real Stephen Byerley, rather than having recovered, was permanently disfigured and crippled
by the accident, and the Byerley who appears in the public is a humanoid robot, created by Stephen
Byerley. Asimov mentions the Three Laws of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not believe that the short story, Evidence, is accurate in its depiction of society s treatment of
robots. In the research we have seen thus far, the acceptance of robots in today s society is almost
unknown due to the fact that many people do not realize they amount of robotics that they already use
in their daily lives. Robots are a very beneficial thing, and I do not believe that we need a set of laws
like Asimov s to govern the behavior of robots as they become more advanced... Robots can be people

What Activity During Oocyte Activation Prevents...
What activity during oocyte activation prevents penetration by additional sperm?
There are to methods consisting of an electrical block and mechanical block, which prevents
penetration of additional sperms during oocyte activation. Electrical block involves the absences of
fertilization (the oocyte contains a negative charge within and the sperm a positive charge). For
instance, if an oocyte comes into contact with a sperm the negative charge within the oocyte changes
to positive resulting any other sperms from penetrating the oocyte since the repulsive forces between
like charges. However, a mechanical block operates primarily in mammals and other animals such as
endoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ion stimulates the vesicles to undertake exocytosis of molecules
from cortical granules modifying the extracellular membranes such as the vitelline membrane and the
zona pellucida to harden preventing polyspermy, therefore, resulting in creating a barrier against
ruther sperm penetration. However, in mammals the first sperm to enter into the egg; the cortical
granules found in the cortex of the egg secretes a serine protease allowing it to shift its properties of
the membrane of the zona pellucida typically the layer found outside the plasma membrane. The
protease grinds up the proteins and function as a receptor in binding a sperm (i.e. ZP3 glycoproteins
and ZP2) as well as the ones that adhere the cell membrane to the vitelline envelope. The secreted
molecules consist of

The Work Force, By Sheryl Sandberg Essay
Regardless if she is a housewife or a woman who works a 9 5, she is still under the dominance of a

work force, she is the assistant and he is the one calling all the shots. If she is fortunate enough to hold

To overcome an obstacle, one must have some essence of resilience within. Resilience has been
defined as an attitude that enables the individual to examine, enhance and utilize the strengths,
characteristics and other resources available to him or her (Harrington, 2012). As a gunner in the
military for a Bradley Fighting Vehicle, you are responsible for the turret and weapon system. Having
never been a Bradley Commander, when asked to step up and take command I felt overwhelmed with
the task at hand. Without being resilient, I would have failed as a Brandley Commander. My first day

my intent is to become a top performing crew in our platoon.

Tinea Skin Infection Paper
In typical dermatophytic hair infections, three major fungal invasion patterns can be identified, based
on the arthroconidia and hyphal arrangement (Gupta Tu, 2006). One such pattern is called an ectothrix
and during this arthroconidia arrangement is outside of the hair. During the endothrix pattern the
arthroconidia arrangement is inside of the hair strand, making it more fragile. The last pattern is
termed as favic where both hyphal and arthroconidia involvement with the hair strands and hair
follicles can be seen. The arthroconidia associated with these hair infections plays a vital role in
dissemination of these infections (Murray, Rosenthal Michael, 2013). When the clinical diseases
caused by these dermatophytes are considered, the typical symptoms of Ringworm infections play a
major role in the initial diagnosis of these infections. Even though the type of symptoms appear may
differ with the location of the infection within the body, most of these Ringworm infections share

Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to find out if an adults could pass a middle school science test.
My hypothesis was that the 20 39 year old age group would have the highest average test score. To
determine this I had adults, in the age ranges of 20 39, 40 59, and 60+, take a 12 question middle
school science test. The results proved my hypothesis right because the 20 39 year olds age group had
the highest average test score. The 60+ age group had the second highest average test score and the 40
59 year old age group had the lowest average test score. The independent variables are the ages of the
adults, which are (20 39), (40 59), (60+). The dependent variable is the grade the participant gets on
the test based on the answer sheet for the test. The controlled variable is the 12 question middle school

attracted to her was because of her beauty, however this is false. Cleopatra s beauty was not the hook
that caught all of the men; it was her knowledge of the world and her maturity. Cleopatra was born in
69 b.c.e. in Alexandria, Egypt. She learned much in her younger years as the daughter to the Egyptian
pharaoh, Ptolemy XII. She visited many libraries and museums as a child. In fact, these visits to the
libraries and museums were the source ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that while Cleopatra and Ptolemy were in the disagreement over who was to be the ruler, she
needed Caesars help to get her throne back. The only problem was she had been kicked out of her
palace and that was exactly where Caesar was. The brave and clever young Cleopatra wrapped herself
up into a carpet and, Apollo Dorus tied up the bedding and carried it on his back through the gates to
Caesars apartment. This story shows she had determination, love for her kingdom, and that she was

Outlook On Kenyan Development Kenya
Outlook on Kenyan Development
Kenya is a third world country in Eastern Africa, with bright opportunities to develop into an african
superpower. They have been a state since 1963 and before Kenya was independent, they were apart of
the British Empire. Kenya s capital is Nairobi, which also happens to be the center of industrial
activities and the economy. Kenya s development appears to be heading in a good direction as their
GDP is rising, as well as their population to furthermore expand the economy. Although most people
are working in agriculture the country is beginning to become more industrialized to boost the
economy. The Republic of Kenya is a growing and expanding country with a positive outlook which
could make them a powerhouse of the economy and change in Africa.
Kenya has recently agreed to a deal with South Korea that will boost their economy significantly and
contribute to the necessary food security of the people. They will be given 5 billion Kenyan shillings,
about 50 million USD, to help with food security from South Korea. South Korea will help Kenya
further along in development by helping to expand and secure needs of the Kenyan people, Kenya had
signed pacts with South Korea which will help it become an economic, industrial, and technological
powerhouse in the region. (Mukami). Kenya s economic development will help boost various parts of
the country s essential ways of helping life. Given the extra money they ll be able to add

A Study on Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is a process in plants, algae, and some prokaryotes, that coverts solar insulation into
chemical energy stored in glucose or other organic compounds. Photosynthesis occurs in slightly
different ways in higher plants relative to photosynthetic bacteria. Photosynthesis is an important
process because it harnesses the sun s energy into utilizable forms of energy on earth. Most biological
organisms such as animals and fungi are unable to directly use light energy to power biological
processes such as active transport, cell division and muscle movement. ATP is used to power these
processes. Photosynthesis converts light energy into chemical energy in the form of glucose and then
the process of cellular respiration converts energy in glucose to energy in the form of ATP which is
ultimately used to power biological processes. The energy produced by photosynthesis forms the
foundation of virtually all terrestrial and aquatic food chains. As a result, photosynthesis is the crucial
source of carbon in the organic molecules found in most organisms. The high oxygen concentration in
the atmosphere is derived directly from the light reactions of photosynthesis. Prior to the evolution of
photosynthesis on earth, the atmosphere was absent of any oxygen
The rate of photosynthesis is determined by environmental factors. Factors affecting photosynthetic
rates include light intensity, water availability, soil nutrient content, concentration of carbon dioxide
and temperature.

Dr Milgram s Experiment On Obedience And Authority Figures
Pioneering Psychologist Stanley Milgram once said, Ordinary people, simply doing their jobs, and
without any particular hostility on their part, can become agents in a terrible destructive process.
Obedience is like a narcotic; under its influence, even a strong willed person can do horrible things to
others without a second thought. The only way a member of society submitting to powerful authority
can escape being obedient is to live completely isolated. Subjects usually follow the orders given by a
leader without a second thought, with many going the extra mile despite the mental and physical harm
they could cause others. In order to satisfy an authority figure, people are willing to hurt mentally,
abuse physically, or even murder others in cold blood because humans are born with the urge to
comply an authoritarian figure.
This behavior is well represented and tested in Professor Stanley Milgram s experiment on obedience
to authority figures conducted in 1961 to 1963 at Yale University. In this experiment Milgram got
several participants to be teachers and students. Then made the teachers to ask the students questions,
and shock the students every time they got an answer wrong. The shocks given to the the students got
stronger for each answer, and the maximum shock at 450 volts was deadly. The students were actually
just actors who acted as if they were getting shocks, but actually they did not get any shock. This
experiment was conducted to see how far the teachers were

Why Do Americans Perceive Their Culture As Egalitarian,...
1. Why do Americans perceive their culture as egalitarian, and their society as basically fair and
equal? Is this consistent with reality? Explain.
American perceive their culture to be far because the media hides the gross inequities from the public
until they feel it is important to discuss. However, even when the media relays the messages they are
obscured from the actual truth. So, the American people think their culture is fear and equal, but it is
just an illusion created by the media.
2. How do the media play role in perpetuating inequality?
The media shapes the way Americans see our society, but it s what goes unreported that should worry
the American people. For instead, the poor and the poverty they face is the biggest misconception
portrayed by the media. The media dehumanizes the poor and makes them into statistics or averages,
rather than the people and children who are suffering to survive. Also, when the poor are discussed
they are discussed through the eyes of a middle class person which portrays the poor like nuisance or a
hassle. They blame the poor for being victims of poverty, claiming they must have brought it on
themselves. While, people read or listen to the media their perception of others are shaped upon the
tone and emotions coming from the reporter. The American people are oblivious to the something
falsely represented stories or headlines, they tend to believe the media no matter if the information is
true or false.
3. How does the media operate as an ideological tool of the rich? Explain
The article states, how media is operated by the upper class, which gives them power over the
American people and the way American s proceed things. The wealth media operators use their power
to shape our social class structure, by only telling us things to further help them. They put a bad taste
in your mouth for welfare and convince us to resent the people below us for all America s problems.
Nevertheless, they are the elite privilege, who act as a ruling government with the media being their
choice of weapon against the less fortune it.
4. According to the American ideology, everybody can make it if you only try hard enough ( All you
have to do is work hard and you can be

  • 2. Informative Influences On The Victimization Of American... Without a doubt, our language usage is becoming increasingly casual. Some argue that this is due to the influence of American culture. While it is not pervasive, the assimilation of American culture in Australia can be partly responsible for this trend. However, the predominant reason for our informal language use is due to increasing connectivity through social media and other modern communication services. Despite this trend, the register of discourses is still dictated by the context and setting of the situation. American culture influences the informality of language that Australians employ in everyday life to some degree, especially for the younger generations. Australians watch a large number of American movies and TV shows, arguably even more than Australian based entertainment. This has led to the adoption of informal American colloquialisms such as bro , whatever and chill out by many Australians. In addition, Bruce Moore remarks, Contemporary teenspeak comes from the world of teenage popular culture, and this culture is largely American . Anne Frank was a Dutch, Jewish girl who went into hiding during the Holocaust. She and her family were hiding from the Nazis in the time of World War II. The Jewish were one of the people to starve in Hitler s Hunger Plan. Anne during her time in hiding wrote in her diary that in today s time is published. Hannah at the time was going through a rough part in her life. She lost her father and her sister was ill. When she went to Burgen Belsen, she was reunited with Anne. Cabaret has long been one of my favorite musicals and I felt very honored to get to be a part of CMC s production. The main theme of the play is adaptation. The slight breeze and the overcast clouds provided a gray morning, which to some foreshadowed a sad and droopy day but I saw the hopeful rays of sunshine attempting to leak through the dull, gray bars that separated the warm sun from the cool ground. The lake house: a place where I enjoyed the fruits of having a friendship with the daughter of the family who owned the house. From wakeboarding to tubing to boat rides the lake offered all the amenities one could hope for in a fairly large body of water. Yet these forms of entertainment only amount to the smallest fraction of why the lake house is so integral to my contentment. The dock has a fine hardwood finish that prevents painful splinters, plenty of comfortable lawn chairs to sit in, an emerald green table where I have played countless hours of Settlers of Catan, and an American flag that flutters majestically in the wind. • 21. The Global Catch Of Shrimp Species 1. Introduction Penaeid shrimps (Family Penaeidae: Rafinesque, 1815) are the most economically important crustaceans in the world as a primitive group of decapod (Abele, 1991; Chan, 1998; Dall et al., 1990). The family has a world wide distribution in shallow, inshore tropical and subtropical waters. The highest diversity of the family members occurs in the Indo West Pacific region with about 205 species grouped into 26 genera (Farfante and Kensley, 1997; Martin and Davis, 2001; McLaughlin et al., 2005; Nizinski, 2003). The global catch of shrimp species is about 3.4 million tons/year. More than half of which are caught from the Western and Northwest Central Pacific fisheries, besides the contribution of other essential fisheries in the Indian and in the Western Atlantic Oceans (FAO, 2014). Shrimps remain to be the largest single product in value terms accounting about 15 % of the internationally traded fisheries products in 2012. Moreover, shrimps are primarily produced in developing countries, and much of this production progressively expands in the international trade. As the economic conditions develop in these countries, growing demand leads to high domestic consumption leading to fewer exports. Such high demand and the subsequent overexploitation are negatively impacting the standing stocks of shrimp which fall below the healthy standard levels. This requires regular monitoring, assessment and management of each species to keep tracking of the effects of such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. What Activity During Oocyte Activation Prevents... What activity during oocyte activation prevents penetration by additional sperm? There are to methods consisting of an electrical block and mechanical block, which prevents penetration of additional sperms during oocyte activation. Electrical block involves the absences of fertilization (the oocyte contains a negative charge within and the sperm a positive charge). For instance, if an oocyte comes into contact with a sperm the negative charge within the oocyte changes to positive resulting any other sperms from penetrating the oocyte since the repulsive forces between like charges. However, a mechanical block operates primarily in mammals and other animals such as endoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ion stimulates the vesicles to undertake exocytosis of molecules from cortical granules modifying the extracellular membranes such as the vitelline membrane and the zona pellucida to harden preventing polyspermy, therefore, resulting in creating a barrier against ruther sperm penetration. However, in mammals the first sperm to enter into the egg; the cortical granules found in the cortex of the egg secretes a serine protease allowing it to shift its properties of the membrane of the zona pellucida typically the layer found outside the plasma membrane. The protease grinds up the proteins and function as a receptor in binding a sperm (i.e. ZP3 glycoproteins and ZP2) as well as the ones that adhere the cell membrane to the vitelline envelope. • 42. A Study on Photosynthesis Photosynthesis is a process in plants, algae, and some prokaryotes, that coverts solar insulation into chemical energy stored in glucose or other organic compounds. Photosynthesis occurs in slightly different ways in higher plants relative to photosynthetic bacteria. Photosynthesis is an important process because it harnesses the sun s energy into utilizable forms of energy on earth. Most biological organisms such as animals and fungi are unable to directly use light energy to power biological processes such as active transport, cell division and muscle movement. ATP is used to power these processes. Photosynthesis converts light energy into chemical energy in the form of glucose and then the process of cellular respiration converts energy in glucose to energy in the form of ATP which is ultimately used to power biological processes. The energy produced by photosynthesis forms the foundation of virtually all terrestrial and aquatic food chains. As a result, photosynthesis is the crucial source of carbon in the organic molecules found in most organisms. The high oxygen concentration in the atmosphere is derived directly from the light reactions of photosynthesis. Prior to the evolution of photosynthesis on earth, the atmosphere was absent of any oxygen The rate of photosynthesis is determined by environmental factors. Factors affecting photosynthetic rates include light intensity, water availability, soil nutrient content, concentration of carbon dioxide and temperature. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Dr Milgram s Experiment On Obedience And Authority Figures Pioneering Psychologist Stanley Milgram once said, Ordinary people, simply doing their jobs, and without any particular hostility on their part, can become agents in a terrible destructive process. Obedience is like a narcotic; under its influence, even a strong willed person can do horrible things to others without a second thought. The only way a member of society submitting to powerful authority can escape being obedient is to live completely isolated. Subjects usually follow the orders given by a leader without a second thought, with many going the extra mile despite the mental and physical harm they could cause others. In order to satisfy an authority figure, people are willing to hurt mentally, abuse physically, or even murder others in cold blood because humans are born with the urge to comply an authoritarian figure. This behavior is well represented and tested in Professor Stanley Milgram s experiment on obedience to authority figures conducted in 1961 to 1963 at Yale University. In this experiment Milgram got several participants to be teachers and students. Then made the teachers to ask the students questions, and shock the students every time they got an answer wrong. The shocks given to the the students got stronger for each answer, and the maximum shock at 450 volts was deadly. The students were actually just actors who acted as if they were getting shocks, but actually they did not get any shock. This experiment was conducted to see how far the teachers were ...
