Marketing Plan For Online Purchases Essay
Landsend.com began by selling 100 items on the Internet in 1995 (citation). The firm
decided to move into Internet sales after examining the demographics of typical
Lands End shoppers, which supported online purchasing from the fledgling
technology. Within three years, sales from Landsend.com had reached $18 million
and the online venture had achieved consistent profitability (citation). Lands End then
added technology to its site that allowed shoppers to build personalized outfits, create
three dimensional models of their body and personalized accounts that would store
shipping and billing and information to streamline future online purchases (citation).
One of Lands End s current strategies is engage consumers by enhancing the
shopping experience through digital channels. Highlights of the initiative include: A
cross platform experience that allows customers to shop www.landsend.com across
an assortment of devices, including laptops and tablets and phones. Outfitting, with

Modern Medicine Has Impacted Human Life
Modern medicine has positively impacted human life. As an American society we
have gone from a life expectancy of approximately forty years to large masses of
people living into their 100s. Throughout human history, things as simple the
common cold and even curable diseases could wipe out an entire countries
population, now with the many medical advances these circumstances can be
controlled instead of being lethal. .These innovations are allowing people to live a
higher quality of life as well as continuous research is inevitably leading to the cure
of many different devastating illnesses. That being said, the world as we know is not
perfect. There have been many technological advances in and outside the world of
medicine, some of which may have led society down a dark path. With this issue of
modern medicine and pharmaceutical tycoons being highly debated, three different
authors have very similar opinions that have been molded from different
experiences. Bronwen Hruska, is simply a concerned mother who believes her son
was misdiagnosed with A.D.H.D and faced the effects of the unnecessary
medication, as Alan Schwarz is a well respected medical journalist with a highly
appreciated opinion in the medical field, as Marcia Angell she is a physician who has
become an activist against the pharmaceutical industry. All authors express their
disturbance by the constant rising rates of psychotic diagnosis and use of medications
and all the drastic effects that have come with
Buck Ruxton Case
The Case of Buck Ruxton
In September of 1935, a bundle of human remains was found by a tourist, under the
bridge of a small stream in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. The authorities were notified
and police quickly recovered approximately thirty different body parts from the
stream. That discovery also led to the retrieval of body parts in other dumping sites
across the neighboring area (Goff, 2000). The body parts were secured in various
items of clothing and some were wrapped in sheets of newspaper. The special
edition of the newspaper, as well as the presence of Calliphora vicina (blowflies),
found on the bodies would inevitably lead investigators to the English town of
Lancaster and the arrest of one Buktyar Rustomji Ratanji Hakim (Goff, 2000). ...

Several maggot specimens were recovered from the remains. The maggots were
sent for testing at the University of Edinburgh. The samples were examined by Dr.
Mearns, who made the determination that they were Calliphora vicina, a species
commonly known as blowflies (Goff, 2000). This entomological evidence led to the
conclusion that the flies were approximately twelve to fifteen days old. Investigators
honed in on the newspaper that was used to wrap the victims, that was dated
September 15th, 1935. Fortunately, the newspaper was a special edition issue that
was only distributed across a small area, so law enforcement subpoenaed the list of
subscribers. This allowed police to shift their attention to the town of Lancaster,

Statement of Purpose to become an Editor in the Field of...
I ve thought of medical careers, a career in psychiatry, forensics, and writing. After
plenty of research, experience, and self evaluation, I think I ve found a fairly solid fit.
A fast moving, creative environment surrounded by interesting people, whilst utilizing
my love for literature, a career in publishingis calling my name. Specifically, a career
as an editor. Both book editingand script editing sound appealing to me, but for now
I ll focus on book editing. As an editor, I would have a working environment that
suits me and appropriate skills for the job, such as interpersonal skills, language
skills, writing skills, creativity, and being detail oriented. (bls.gov) Also, values that
are important to me would be a focus in this career, such as independence,
achievement, and recognition. A career as an editor is a fulfilling career goal
because of the ability to improve communication. (Cole 2)Just knowing that I want
a career in editing won t get me one, so how does one obtain this career? While a
college education isn t necessary in all cases, a Bachelor s degree is typically
something an employer looks for. (bls.gov) Journalism, Communications, or

strong enough writing skills, a Bachelor s degree in another field may do just as

Tis But Thy Name That Is My Enemy
Juliet from the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare says about Romeo,
Tis but thy name that is my enemy. She claims that it is Romeo s name, Montague,
that is her enemy, and not Romeo himself, although Romeo s name influenced who
he was. Most of the time, names are given to people by their family members after
they are born. However, there are also people who choose their own names. Most
names have a meaning behind them. That meaning doesn t always represent who
we are. In my case, my name has a story behind it. Everyone s names were chosen
for a reason, even if that reason is insignificant. Before I was born, my mom and
my dad knew they wanted me to have an Armenian name. They were considering
many different names, some of which are hard for Americans to pronounce. For
that reason, they narrowed the choices down to a couple names that were more
simple. They wanted it to be easy for others to pronounce and spell. Those choices
were Tamar, Maral, and Lilit. The night that they were driving to the hospital before
I was born, they came across a deer on the road. Since Maral translates to deer in
Armenian, they decided to name me that. Although I wasn t named after anyone in
particular, the culture behind my name is important to me and my parents. Before
asking my parents about it, I never knew that they wanted my name to be easy for
others to pronounce. Compared to other names, my name was always difficult for my
teachers and classmates to say correctly. In fact,

This paper explores the contribution of 82nd Airborne Division Combat Engineers
in World War II. During an Allied Force mission dubbed, Operation Market Garden
, the city of Nijmegan was integral in the overall success or failure in defeating the
German Forces. On the outskirts of Nijmegan, the Waal River separated Allied
Forces from the German Panzer Divisions. This paper will annotate the experiences,
contributions, and actions of combat engineers assigned to Charlie Company 307th
Engineer Battalion. This paper will also provide you excerpts from an actual After

The specific contributions combat engineers made during this operation primarily
came from within the 82nd Airborne Division. Under the leadership of Brigadier
General (BG) James Gavin, his paratroopers were tasked with dropping in northeast
Netherlands to secure bridges at the towns of Grave and Nijmegan. The 82nd
Airborne Division s primary target was securing the bridges at Nijmegan to facilitate
the Allied Forces XXX Corps, who would be arriving through Nijmegan to a town
called Arnhem. Arnhem was a town that laid on the German / Dutch border. Allied
Intelligence determined that two SS Panzer Divisions of German forces occupied
that town.
Within the 82nd Airborne Division was the 504 Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR).
Assigned to the 504th PIR was Charlie Company 307th Engineer Battalion. On the
third day of Operation Market Garden, the 82nd Airborne, under BG Gavin, was
directed to make an assault across the Waal River to secure the Nijmegan Highway
Bridge. The 504th PIR was the primary assault force, augmented with engineers
from C Co 307th Engineer Battalion. Intelligence from the 504th PIR determined
that the crossing was going to happen between two large buildings on the southern
bank of the Waal River. The Engineers determined the river was roughly 1200 feet
in width and having a current of about eight miles per hour. All of the support by fire

After discovering that Golden Dancer was all shine, and no substance, Henry
Drummond learned to not trust ideas and objects that are perfect seeming because

Lawrence and Robert E. Lee s Inherit the Wind Drummond and Bertram Cates
disregarded society s morals for the truth and Drummond and Rachael Brown

importance of searching for truth.
Drummond and Bertram Cates considered society s standards to be less important

After listening to the case, Brown stated that she read the Darwin book and does not

demonstrated the exploring the truth is more important than her previous comforting
ideals by challenging her religious beliefs to consider Darwinism. Drummond s
openness to all possible sources of truth, showed that factual information is more
important its source. After the death of Brady, Drummond grabbed both the orange

Drummond defended the teaching of evolution, but he considered the Bible equal to
evolution. Drummond s respect for both teachings demonstrated that finding truth is

in Hillsboro considered religion the perfect belief, Drummond, Brown, and Cates
showed the importance of exploring for the truth by being open to other beliefs.
Religion in Hillsboro was like Golden dance because it seemed ideal. Hillsboro s

Rhetorical Analysis Of John F. Kennedy s Inaugural Address
The distinctive voices, inherent in any text, are intended to have an impact on the
audience. Significant voices are influenced by the values and beliefs of the
composer, as well as cultural, political and historical content. Composers use a
range of language tools and features to successfully covey messages to their
audience. John F. Kennedy s Inaugural Address, Severn Cullis Suzuki s Address to
the Plenary Session, Earth Summit and Charlie Chaplin s Let us all unite, all
provide excellent examples of a distinctive voice. Each of these distinctive voices is
formed through the use of emotive language, tone, repetition and rhetorical devices.
JFK s, Inaugural address states President Kennedy s vision and mission for his term
in office. Kennedy discusses important topics such as human rights and foreign
affairs, voicing the common belief of hope shared by his audience. The
distinguishing voice Kennedy establishes is defined by his use of an inspirational,
determined tone. It is evident that he has a goal of getting the audiences attention to
understand his points in a meaningful way. Rhetorical devices help form Kennedy s
characteristic voice. Through rhetorical questioning, Can we forge against these
enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure
a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort? Kennedy s
use of anaphora emphasises the idea of coming together and moving forward.

The Assumptions Of Ability Grouping, Student Tracking
And...
Abstract
This paper will dive into four common unwarranted assumptions made from ability
grouping (student tracking) and attempt to debunk the ideas. Ability grouping is the
common educational practice of separating students based on actual or purported
ability in the same grade into different instructional groups with differing levels of
aptitude or achievement (Ainsworth 2013). The four assumptions that will follow
were researched by the former presidential professor in equity in the graduate school
of education and information studies at UCLA, Jeannie Oakes. Ability grouping or
student tracking is in fact illegal in the state of California but, institutions still find
alternative ways to implement the method.
Keywords: Ability Grouping, Students Tracking
Debunking the False Assumptions of Ability Grouping The four ability grouping
assumptions are as follow: (1) Students learn better when they are grouped with other
students who have similar academic skills or prior levels of achievement, (2) slower
students develop more positive attitudes about themselves and their education when
they are not in daily classroom contact with those who are brighter, (3) track
placements are part of a meritocratic system with assignments earned by students and
accorded through fair and accurate means, and (4) teaching is easier when students
are grouped homogeneously, and teaching is better when there are no slower students
to lower the common denominator in the classroom
Weaknesses Of Shampoo Market
The shampoo market has acquired significance in urban Indian homes since the
1960s. The market is conquered by dominant players such as Hindustan Unilever
Ltd. and Procter Gamble Company. It is expected that the market will continue to
grow with more market players. The changing dynamics of rural people has resulted
into substantial increase in the penetration level of the market for both existing and
new players. Still the penetration level of shampoo market is low (14%) in Indian
market (Indian Cosmetic Sector Analysis (2009 2012)). Urban markets account for
80% of the total shampoo market. The shampoo usage rate is increasing gradually
due to decline in excise duty and the use sachet packaging. Sachet packet substantially

bring shampoo in addition to conditioner mix in the marketing and was first to

The Relations Of Democratic Peace
The interactions between nation states compose the framework of the modern world.
The world s affairs are shaped by the diplomatic engagements of nations with one
another, with each country playing on its own interests and concerns on the global
stage. While no tangible system of international law rigidly regulates diplomacy,
philosophies exist attempting to describe and even predict the interactions between
countries. Among these is the notion of democratic peace, that which predicts a
largely pacifist interaction between states, particularly democracies. Democratic
peace plays on an optimistic view of democracies shaping their diplomatic practices
with one another in an amicable manner as it provides that democracies inherently
respect each other and their corresponding ways, while also listening to their inherent
accountability to their people. While ideal, democratic peace fails to describe
historical exchanges between democratic states, even in those instances in which
tense dealings did not result in warfare. An opposing thought is provided as the
reason why such an ideal fails, and it follows that realist interactions between nations
is based largely on the very survival of the states involved. As such, factors like
international prestige, and perceived strength come into play, and given these factors
strong link to a demonstration of strength through potential warfare, democratic peace
fails to be an accurate representation of present diplomatic practice given
The Day Will Come That You Won T Be Analysis
Similar to gothic literature, one of the scenes in The Day Will Come That You
Won t Be has a biblical parallel. In this scene, the characters follow part of the story
of Abraham and Isaac. In the show, Negan fulfills the role of God (which he
would, undoubtedly, appreciate), Rick is Abraham, and Carl is Isaac. Negan
demands a personal sacrifice of Rick that will protect other people, but cause
profound damage to his son and himself. Negan demands fulfillment up until Rick
has resigned himself to cutting of Carl s arm. Negan does not need Rick to
actually complete the act, he just needs Rick to accept his domination. It functions
not only as a test of Rick s sense of duty to his people and the power of his fear, but
also makes Rick grateful to Negan. In a very twisted way, Negan saves Carl by
sparing him from the fate Negan had demanded of him. It is a little different than
the original story, Negan comes out of the situation with Rick s obedience, fear, and
maybe some reverence. Maybe it s not so different after all.... Show more content on

The Progressive Era Of Social And Political Reform
During the time from the 1890s to the 1920s a period of social and political reform
took place in the United States known as the Progressive Era. The era saw the
expansion of political and economic freedom through the reinvigoration of the
moment for woman suffrage, the use of political power to expand workers rights
and efforts to improve democratic government by weakening the power of the city
bosses and giving ordinary citizens more influence on legislation. The progressive
reformers from this time gained a majority of their support from the education middle
class of urban areas. Another term used to describe these reformers is Muckrakers.
Muckrakers were investigative journalists who tried to make the public aware of the
problems in society that needed fixing. They stemmed from yellow journalism,
which was a style of reporting that used exaggeration to attract readers. In a speech
made by U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, the term muckraker was used in
a derogatory way, he borrowed the word from John Bunyan s Puritan story Pilgrim
s Progress, which spoke of a man with a Muck rake in his hand who raked filth
rather than look up to nobler things. However, it eventually came to take on a
positive overtone due to the serious social issues of the progressive era the
muckrakers had underlined. The muckrakers during the progressive era inspired
Americans to take action and hence are responsible for the social change that took
place at that time.

Federal Enforcement Act Case Study
On Tuesday, February 7, 2017 Senate Bill 10, the Municipal Sanctuary and Federal
Enforcement Act passed the Pennsylvania State Senate.
The Senate Bill, sponsored by Senator Guy Reschenthaler (R Allegheny) was written
in an attempt to bar municipalities from adopting so called sanctuary cities policies
that refer to the refusal to comply with federal detention orders issued by
Immigrations and Custom Enforcement.
Moreover, SB 10 proposes to withhold all state grant funding from local governments
that do not follow any law, mandate, request, or order from federal immigration
authorities. It also holds local governments liable for damages if they release a person

If this bill becomes law, people will be held in jail when they should not be held. We
are prepared to challenge illegal detentions when they occur.2
SB 10, would halt all state grant funding from the Federal Government. This is up to
and including grants for 911 service and transportation infrastructure and would affect
local governments that do not follow all immigration orders from the federal
government.
Passage of SB 10 would also hold counties liable for damages if they release an
individual after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued a detainer
request and the individual commits injury to person or property thereafter. The bill
does not define or specify what injury to person or property means.
ICE detainer requests are orders from ICE to a state or local government to detain an
individual to allow them to investigate their immigration status. The requests are not
reviewed by a court and are not supported by a finding of probable cause. This is

Universal Health Care System Of Universal Healthcare
Individuals who reside in countries practicing a system of universal health care have
access to the health services they require, which, consequently, leads to overall
healthier populations. Such health services include, amongst other things, prevention
promotion, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care.(who.org) These services are
provided without the risk of monetary adversity or destitution for those who use
them. Ease of access to health facilities and care in turn leads to healthier people.
Universal health caresystems bring the entire populace into contact with good quality
services and health professionals, in addition to medicines and technologies that aid
in the diagnosis and treatment of medical problems. In order to meet the urgent well
being needs of the population, such systems employ a people centered combined care
approach to treatment that incorporates:
Information programs which support healthy lifestyles and avoidance of sickness
early detection of chronic conditions
capability to treat diseases
assistance for patients in convalescence and
provision, where needed, of sympathetic palliative care (who.org)
The ambition of universal health is always to deliver a growing number of health
services over time and to guarantee that populations have opportunities to participate
in strategic preventive health programs. In this way, the goal of countries that provide
universal health care is to continually work and strive to maintain healthier
Thesis For Night John By Gary Paulsen
Fight for What is Right Fight for what you believe in while using your passion.
When you believe in something so strongly, you must use your knowledge and
passion to inspire others. In the story NightJohn By Gary Paulsen, he shows that
passion is the most important thing to carry with you no matter what you are
going through. John, a bold slave with many scars from previous masters, is
bought by Clel Waller onto his plantation to work in the fields. On page 33, as the
slaves are sleeping in the quarters, John meets Sarny, a young slave who is
interested in his offer to trade a lip of chew for knowledge of the letters A, B and
C. John becomes a mentor to Sarny and teaches her more and more about reading
and writing each week. On pages 54 and 55, John mentions to Mammy, the woman
who has taken care of Sarny since her mother was bought, First time i ran i got clean

Symptoms And Treatments Of Aroma Therapy
Aroma therapy has been speculated to have significant positive effects for calming
throughout medical history. It has been known in alternative medicine to reduce
anxiety, stress, and even ease physical pain. Although aroma therapy has been used in
alternative medicine for decades, it is unclear what effect it has on the heart
physically. What effects does aroma therapy have on the heart and what specific heart
intervals are effected? How do these increments coincide with lowering heart rates
and reducing stress? If the use of aroma therapy is proven effective, it may help
generations of patients manage pain and stress. With future research in physiology
and aroma therapy there could be a correlation found with neurotransmitters and what

(insert in text citation) This is an example of how aroma therapy has been proven to
have a positive mental effect. Alternatively, Armaiti Salamati and collegues
conducted a study to test whether or not the inhalation of lavender oil reduced the
physical pain that patients encountered after they have had open heart surgery.
Unfortunately, they found there to be no significance in the data that proved that
inhaling lavender had any reduction of the patient s pain after open heart surgery.
(insert in text citation) It is clear that science is having a difficult time proving the
benefits of aroma therapy and coming to definitive conclusion on the effectiveness of
aroma therapy. Is aroma therapy able to effect humans physically, or is it more of a
mental stimulation that causes these positive feelings within most people?
For this study, students investigated how the ECG will change after a subject smells
aromatherapy oils that are commonly seen as calming such as lavender and
peppermint. With this data, students will also be comparing the ECG readings in
regards to the subject s stress level. Formally, the hypothesis was that if the aroma
therapy oils are inhaled the overall heart rate for the subject will decrease because of
the calming properties of these oils. More so, students also predicted that subjects
with higher stress levels will be more susceptible to a heartrate decrease due to aroma
therapy.
To test these hypotheses, students compared various
The Current International Security Environment
The current international security environment requires that the Joint Force transition
its focus from counterinsurgency (COIN) operations to ensuring it rebalances to
execute core functions. Joint Force 2025 must be primarily organized, trained, and
equipped to deter and defeat existential threats and state adversaries in major combat
operations (MCO). Secondarily, the Joint Force must be able to respond to other
lower intensity crises that threaten U.S. interests. The current resource constrained
environment requires each of the Services to prioritize how they will contribute to
meeting those ends. Further, this force will also assume risk given the innumerable

The 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) recognizes the challenges presented
by this transitional period and offers three pillars as a strategic framework within
which to rebalance the Joint Force. These are to protect the homeland, build security
globally, and project power and win decisively. These pillars link the four enduring
national interests with the role of the military as the protection and projection
instrument of national power. The first pillar is tied directly to the foremost national
interest of preserving the security of the U.S., and to the core objective of the military
to deter and defeat attacks on the country. The second and third pillars are linked to
the remaining national interests of an open international economy, respect for
universal values, and rules based international order. Collectively, these three pillars
implicitly task the Joint Force with ensuring that the U.S. can protect itself and defeat
adversaries, and as a global leader, project power and influence, and protect its
interests in an unstable international environment. The likelihood of facing an attack,
existential or otherwise, from an adversary state is seemingly low but the Joint Force
cannot expect to stand idle given the many immediate security challenges that
threaten national interests around the world. This force should be of sufficient size

To support his argument, Gergen elaborates damages in the community and

Paul s Letter For The Romans
Paul s letter to the Romans is special in many ways. It has provided the church with
such theological doctrine. Within its long text, Paul assures equal judgment by God
as well as equal chances to pursue righteousness to God. Paul addresses the debacle
of Israel and the implications of that on the Gentiles. Paul looks to the Roman house
churches and tackles possible issues within their context. Paul encourages the
Romans to respect and not resist governing authorities. One topic Paul does not touch
explicitly is the role of women in the church, but implicitly Paul speaks volumes
about women within the church. In chapter 16, Paul commends and greets several
women. His language gives strong clues to the state of women in the ministry of the
early church. This paper will explore the way Paul commends and greets Phoebe,
Prisca, Mary, and Juniaand the implications of those greetings to reach beyond the
belittling of women in the church.
Women in the Early Church It is difficult to address the topic of women in the early
church because culturally, Women were not accepted. Generally, it has not been
acceptable for women to have a teaching role within the church. More conservative
denominations may even limit that more. Aside from a general lack of woman s rights
throughout time within many cultures, Christians cite the idea that women cannot
have positions of authority within the Church from passages like 1 Corinthians 14:34
where Paul says, The women should keep silent in the
Chesapeake Bay Taxation Essay
We, the state of Virginia propose, with the aid of of our neighboring states and the
approbation of Maryland, to make taxation an act that can only be done by states
to their own citizens, so that we may navigate along the Potomac River and enter
the Chesapeake Bay without taxation. In order to identify the state to which people
belong, identification would be needed for individual men to present when crossing
into the waters of other states, which would be applied for by citizens to the head
of their states. Each identification will cost approximately $54 for each individual
copy to be made, and will be charged at $60. The money to make the identification
for the middle states facing the problem with Maryland would come from
neighboring states, North Carolina, New Jersey, and Delaware, and each will
contribute $3,000.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, as Virginia, and its Neighboring states have omnipresent farmland from
which are harvested most of Disunia s agricultural goods, by removing the tax their
interstate trading will be increased, and states in the north with a surplus of
manufactured items which the middle states need but cannot access because of their
inability to pass the Chesapeake Bay without tax, will have further trade
opportunities, therefore increasing their pecuniary standing in the confederation. In
addition, this law will balance out state treasuries, and make it possible for states with
smaller amounts of money in the state treasury such as Rhode Island, Delaware, and
Connecticut, to trade without putting additional and unnecessary monetary stress on
them. Lastly, this will give states that aren t in a prime location regarding harbors for
trade, equal opportunities to use the harbors of states on harbors and
Essay Explain the Platonic Concept of Forms
Explain the Platonic concept of Forms.
Plato believed that reality is more than what we sense around the world (e.g. taste,
smell, hear, see and touch), he believed that behind these physical realities lies a
perfect version of them in which he called Forms and that the greatest thing we
can learn is to have knowledge and understanding of them. Plato s theory means
that what we can sense around us (for example a chair) is just a mere shadow of
the perfect version which exists in the world of Forms. The perfect version of a
chair is one in which for fills its purpose e.g. to be comfortable and to be sat on.
Plato believed that everything had a perfect Form, from objects such as pens and
books to things such as beauty and justice. He ... Show more content on

This can be traced backwards to every single item that is in the real world creating an
infinite regression, and therefore we have to ask ourselves, how big is the world of
Forms?
Another reason why is it true to say that Forms teach us nothing about the real
world is the queries of the Form of evil. If the Forms are perfect versions and what
we have in the world of our senses are just mere shadows, how much worse can the
evil get? And do we therefore really want to thrive to become the perfect
philosopher if it means experiencing that? For example, if Hitler caused so much
pain and suffering to so many people during the Holocaust, do we really want to go
through that but of a worse/bigger scale in the world of Forms? And also in what
form are is the evil in? In the form of famine and disease, murder and genesis or
something much worse.
Aristotle, another famous philosopher, argued against Plato s well known theory of
Forms and stated that what we seen and experience is material whilst universals are
only abstract projections of this. This completely contradicts Plato s theory and so
do many other philosophers such as Thomas Aquinas. However, whilst it is possible
that one of these theories are right there is no evidence to support it which is another
one of the theories floors.
Another common criticism of Plato s theory is that although the Form of good has
had an influence of Christian teachings and theology, it is extremely difficult to see

The Importance Of Folk Music
The reason why history exists is because some people felt that certain events were
so important that they must be recorded down for future generations to see. Many
forms of history exist in typical forms such as text or photos, but some of history s
defining moments are displayed in the form of art. In the past before a written
language was formed people passed down their history through oral means such as
stories and music. Music especially played a role in the passing down of history
because it was easy to remember things to the beat of a song. The reason why so
many people remember the lyrics to a song rather than what they studied for a
history exam they have coming up is because our brain can connect the lyrics to the
beat which makes it easier to remember. One form of song which can play a huge
role in a society s history and culture is folk music. Folk music defines the culture of
the society and the history behind it. They tell a story of a key person, place, thing,
or event that has occurred in that community and the impact it has had on that
community. Because of their impact on society historians research a places folk
music in order to get a better grasp on what made that place into what it is.
Therefore, folk songs are just as legitimate to history as written documents and
provide a unique knowledge that may not be understood by just reading documents.
Many historians spend time researching about a place or event by looking at written
forms of primary
The Electric Conductivity in the Ionosphere Essay examples
The electric conductivity in the ionosphere associates the electric current and the
electric field by Ohm s law.
The conductivity includes the Pedersen component ( Expression 1 ) parallel to the
electric field and the Hall component ( Expression 2 ) perpendicular to the electric
and the magnetic field.
The conductivities usually concentrate between 100 and 130 km altitudes in the
central E region where ions and electrons can move separately.
Conductivities are proportional to plasma densities.
Daytime plasmas are mainly created by the solar extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation
into the neutral atmosphere.
Thus daytime plasma densities depend on the solar zenith angle (SZA, Expression 3 ).
Height profiles of such plasma densities are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The purpose of this study is to find simple and essential approximations of
conductances against SZA.
In particular, we will express the Hall to Pedersen conductance ratio as a function of
SZA.
We will conclude that the daytime conductance can be understood by the Chapman
theory after additional considerations including (1) upward gradient of the
atmospheric temperature, (2) vertically flat plasma density profile in the topside E
region, and (3) variations of conductance layer thickness.
Conductances are also dependent of the incident solar flux and the local magnetic
strength.
Such additional dependences will be studied in the future after the SZA dependences

K-T Extinction Outline
Dalia Rodriguez Historical Geology 205 November 25, 2015 KT Extinction
Abstract
The Cretaceous Tertiary extinction, also known as the K T extinction, was a global
extinction event that struck the Yucatan Peninsula at the end of the end of the
Mesozoic Era, 65 million years ago. Walter Alvarez first discovered a meteorite big
enough to be called a small asteroid that hit the Earth, creating the Chicxulub crater.
Once the asteroid struck the North American continent, there were igneous rocks
underneath the crater that contained high levels of a rare siderophile element,
iridium. This catrostopic event had a massive effect on the environment, as several
mammals, birds, and plants became extinct. It also caused an impact winter that
made it impossible for plants and plankton to photosynthesis, as 75% of inland
animals and 90% of marine species were affected. Not only did it cause an impact
winter, but the asteroid also caused volcanic eruptions, climate change and sea level
rise. Geologists have also found rich dinosaur, plant and marine fossils to illustrate
the K T extinction. This event not only caused species to become extinct, but it also
had an adaptive radiation, as other species were able to diversify.
Introduction
The asteroid colliding with Earth left evidence in the planets core and mantle with
iridium and shocked quartz. Iridium is present in extraterrestrial objects like asteroids
and meteorites. The asteroid impact

Bryant and Milam had done an interview only a few months after the trial, in
January of 1956, with Look magazine, for $4,000. In this interview they had
confessed to the entire murder and exactly what and how they did it. However,
since both men were protected by double jeopardy laws, they could not get tried
again (Biography 4). Another spark in the case had occurred just recently in a
book called, The Blood of Emmett Till by Timothy Tyson. In this book he had
interview the very same woman who had started this entire case, Mrs. Bryant.
When asked about her testimony, she had said, That part s not true, when talking
about the supposed verbal and physical advances Till made towards her. She had
also stated that, Nothing that boy did could ever justify what happened to him.

Speaking the Truth
Confusion was aptly named as each of the characters in this book are confused. Each
one of them has a unique way of dealing with the uncertainties that develop and each
character becomes involved in the other s confusion, thereby heightening their own.
All of the characters confusion would have been vaporized if they had only spoken
the words they needed to say. The author shows that age and gender does not prohibit
someone from being confused and what we come away with is the necessity of
speech. That the truth shall set you free.

Essay On Work Is A Blessing
Many people today find themselves in dead end jobs, or they feel like work is
purposeless and frustrating. At the same time, some people figured out that work
is a blessing to them. People who suffer their lives in a slavery for many years in
another country, think that work is a curse because they were ruled by people.
They work because they are forced by other people. Work is a blessing for most
people, but for some people work is a curse because of the lack of opportunity.
Work is a blessing for those who understand it. To understand that work is a blessing
was one of true understanding the purpose of life. It is important because not
knowing the purpose of life brought people depressed. As Honore said I m retired
from the Army, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Working set people free from their stressed, frustrated, debts, loneliness, and lead
them to a happy life. Even rich people need a job because doing nothing made them
bored and could not have peace in their life. According to Honore said I have come
to believe that people without jobs are not free (page.137). It is totally true that
people without jobs are not free because people without a job became homeless,
street gang members, and slave. Also, people without jobs became to do suicide
because they felt their life was empty and felt depressed. Being able to work is a
blessing for life because not everyone can work even though they wanted to work.
Think about this. What if a patient said I wanted to work for my people and for my
country. Is that will be possible to work for him, according to the person s
situation? People just noticed that the benefits of having a job when they did not
have the ability to work. Especially, they noticed being able to work is a blessing
when they were sick. In a day when many people are looking for work, people should
be thankful for having a job. As Honore father said Even having a job you hate is
better than not having a job at all (pg.137). It is a blessing that they are able to
work. Work is a blessing for life because work helps people donate to missions at
home and abroad. Those funds might help a teen center, get kids off the streets, or it
might provide food and clothes for an orphanage clear across the world.

Article Review
Cultural responsiveness and school wide positive behavior support although total
opposites in theoretical foundations, when blended together in the school system can
have a positive outcome for student s cultural equity. With the increasing clash of
cultures between teachers and students, teachers today must practice being
sociocultural conscious while, being culturally responsive to their students needs and
behavior in order to be an effective teacher. These topics are important because
although the demographics of the student population are quickly changing and are
more diverse than ever, the demographics of the teacher workforce are staying
predominately white. This reason is why I chose the articles, Toward a Conceptual
Integration of Cultural Responsiveness and Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support, as
well as, A Culturally Responsive Counter narrative of effective teaching.
The student population is more diverse than ever before with non white enrollment
up to 45% in 2008 from 32% in 1988 (Aud, Hussar, Planty, Snyder, Bianco, Fox,
Drake, 2010). With the changing student demographics it is important that we as
educators focus on educational practices that afford all students a level playing field
in their educational experience. Discipline outcomes for culturally and linguistically
diverse students particularly those of African American descent and people of color,
such as Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, Native

Memory And Memory Of Computers
Memory
Have you ever wanted to know how certain files, documents and so on are being
saved and what led this to occur? The memory of computers is quite fascinating
and there is so much that goes into saving something on a computer. There are
different types of memory that is found on computers that is needed to make things
work and that would be acceptable to the user. The main two that is quite known in
the computer world would be Primary and Secondary memory. There are 2 types
that make up the Primary memory and that would be Random Access Memory
(RAM) and Read only memory (ROM). The secondary memory consists of a hard
disk drive, flash drive and zip drive. There are also optical discs that are included.
One thing that is special in terms of computers would be the Primary memory.
Primary memory is divided into 2 types. The first type would be random access
memory. RAM is in charge of keeping data in a stored area so that it can be reached
by the processor when necessary. RAM does a really good job at laying away data
in such a random basis. An article from the PC World have shown that in this
generation RAM has increased tremendously; it is said that A review of systems
that the PC World test center has grown from a little over 90 MB to about 2 GB,
spiking whenever Microsoft releases a new version of Windows (Stafford pg. 84).
RAM has 2 forms, they are Static RAM and Dynamic RAM. Static RAM

This work involves part of a complex real world logistical problem faced by a
company operating on public and private investments whose main objective is the
commercialization of its product in the domestic market.
The study s fundamental practical contribution is solving the real world problem
presented, allowing an improved supply chain through one of its two main activities,
the logistics, by combining strategic and tactical decisions. The real world problem is
the partitioning of customers into certain groups and planning visits to these
customers over a given time horizon (strategic decisions) and the construction of
efficient routes by which to visit the customers (tactical decisions). Theoretically, this

This paper summarizes the methodology for solving this problem, divided into
phases. Its main contribution is the model and solution of the second phase: the
problem of scheduling visits to customers. We have designed an experiment to
validate the proposed solution method using information drawn from the real world
problem and have adapted relevant instances from the literature.
The structure of the real world problem is as follows. The company has a set of
points of sale for a product that must be visited every month at a frequency
determined by its sales volume by one of the nine company trucks travelling from a
central depot to which they must return after their journey. Each customer must
always be visited by the same truck. Some customers are visited on the same day
by the same truck, as happens when at least one customer associated with a
headquarters customer is visited. There are four types of visit frequency, each
depending on the customer s sales volume: weekly (1 day per week, the same
always, for example on Tuesday), Biweekly (two visits per week, which must be
Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday), Bimonthly (2 times a month, first
and third week or second and fourth weeks, but always the same day of the week, for
example, always Monday) and Monthly (once a month). The trucks are available from
Monday to Friday. A month is considered to be 4 weeks with 20 days of delivery.
The length of the truck s stay with the customers is not constant and does not
Essay on Real Life Applications of Stories about The...
In our society today, we find ourselves dealing with similar factors from ancient
literature. One factor that is still relevant to our society is doing things that are
forbidden from us. There is always that one person who is curious which makes
them more anxious to do things that they are told not to do. When people are
forbidden from doing something, most likely it will make them more interested in
doing it. In these three stories, I will show how being forbidden in ancient literature
is still the same as our society.
In the short story, The Old Testament: Genesis, the Lord Godhad forbidden Adam

I m not acquainted with that tree they talk about. Its fruit is sweet! they say, I hear,
she said ( Popul Vuh 1752). The maiden overlooked what the people were telling
her. She only wanted to taste the fruit from the Calabash tree, because the fruit was
sweet. Instead of listening to the people, the maiden went to the tree. And then the
bone spit out its saliva, which landed squarely in the hand of the maiden. ( Popul
Vuh 1752). By going to the tree, the maiden faced the consequence of getting
impregnated by the skull that was on top of the tree. If she would have listened to
the people, then she wouldn t have been impregnated with the twins. This is similar
to our society today, because when a person see something that looks good to them,
they will be determined to get it. The maiden seen the beautiful fruit which made her
want to break the rule even more. No matter how many times, you tell a person not
to do something, it will always be there choice to choose to listen. The maiden didn t
listen, so she had to face the consequences, which was being impregnated with twins.

728). Augustine didn t have a motive for stealing the pears from the pear tree. He

Characteristics Of West African Dance
Most cultures have a form of dance in which they express themselves, West Africa
is no different. West Africa like many other places uses dance to praise the earth in
hope that it will continue to provide them with what they need and for celebrations.
These dances have been done for many years and the people have seen them since
they were young. They are a very important part of West African culture and mean a
great deal to their community. These dances can be described by the music,
costumes, and the purpose of each piece.
Music for West African danceis traditionally done with drums. Different rhythms
call for different steps that have different intentions. The music may build, so the
dancing would also start to develop off that and depending on what the performers
are representing would determine the rhythm that they follow. People watching
may also chant and clap along while the dancers perform. These chants are done to
specific dances that happen during certain ceremonies. This makes the dance all
inclusive so even if someone is not dancing they still are a part of the
celebration. The dancers may also interact with people watching. People watching
may also talk to the musicians that are playing for the dancers. The music is
different for each dance and certain rhythms are set for certain moves that the
dancers do. The dancers could also express more than one rhythm at a time. One part
of their body be on a fast rhythm while another is on a slow rhythm. This can often
tell how advanced the dancer is if they can do more than one rhythm means they are
more advanced
For each dance they do their costuming can be different depending on what they are
representing. For some dances they could wear masks to represent gods, animals or
emotions. Mask help the people feel closer to the thing that is being represented
they feel that they are really seeing something other than the dancer behind the
mask. The costuming may also be more elaborate if they are representing a God or
someone important in their village, like the chief. Costumes can also be very simple
and just provide more movement as the dancers move. The costumes can also move
your focus to certain parts of the body. If, the performance focuses on one part

quality leads to crisis is not a surprise. Response from Sanlu
There were some shockingly basic steps ignored along the way. As of 3rd Aug 2008,
for instance, when the formula recall was in full swing, there was nothing on Sanlu s
website to suggest anything odd was going on. No announcement. No recall
information. No advisory to customers. Not hotline. No news since 14th Aug.
As well as the government officials in Shijiazhuang city had failed to report the
contamination to provincial and state authorities (until 9 September) in violation of
rules on reporting major incidents involving food safety. According to the People s
Daily, Sanlu wrote a letter to Shijiazhuang city government on 2 August 2008, asking
for help to increase control and coordination of the media, to create a good
environment for the recall of the company s problem products....to avoid whipping up
the issue and creating a negative influence in society.
The Wage Gap, Worker Discrimination And Varying...
In terms of attributing to the wage gap, worker discrimination and varying
preferences occurs largely based on views surrounding what jobs are male or female
dominated. Although worker discrimination and wage discrepancies are a reality in
Brazil, the labor market conditions for women are becoming better over time. Despite
gender segregation in the labormarket, the wages of women are sometimes evenly or
positively affected. For instance, For industries and occupations where women
receive higher remuneration than men, we observe that women have higher education
levels, indicating that their higher remuneration is due to individual characteristics
(Madalozzo 165). Even though a positive correlation has been observed regarding
women s education level and wage, in general, men still benefit more based on their
individual characteristics, which is why they are generally paid more. According to
Madalozzo, This difference in pay is decreasing but was still a significant 15.4
percent, on average, in 2007, and ...the present study improves the quantification of
this wage gap, showing that the trend of a decreasing gap remains, but is losing pace
overtime (165 66). In order to combat the presence of the wage gap, policies regarding
bettering women s education and incentivizing women to enter the labor market
should be implemented because the current system discourages women to enter the
market. According to Galor and Weil, ...increasing women s relative wages reduces

Memory Distortion
Memory vs. Experience Do we really know what is true to remember? Do we really
remember the actual memory? Although some people do not believe that people can
mentally delete parts of a memory, many cases prove this method of memory
distortion. The perception people remember that they had within a memory is what
forms the factual pieces of a memory. During the recall and retrieval process, a
memory is replayed consistently, but the more times it is replayed, the more times
new and inaccurate information is added to the memory. We do not choose between
experiences; we choose between memories of experiences. Our memory is tampered
with by the many factors that interfere with the encoding process of memory,
therefore, changing the memory altogether. Experimental work on memory distortion
has caught the consideration of the more extensive emotional wellness field, of the
legitimate calling, and of the overall population. One reason is this: In the most
recent decade, hundreds if not a great many of patients have risen up out of
psychotherapy charging their fathers and moms, their uncles and granddads, their
previous neighbors, their previous instructors and specialists, and endless others, of
sexually manhandling them years prior. The patients frequently guarantee that they
have stifled or separated the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some sense the trials in the deception worldview, in which individuals are given
transcripts said to have been given by different witnesses of a severe event, can be
considered as exhibitions of social impacts on memory. This is particularly valid for
such studies that have analyzed the credibility of the source giving the deceptive data
[Underwood 8: Pezdek, 1998]. Then again, efficient studies manipulating social
weight and gathering agreement on false recollections are only just now starting to
The Neolithic Time Period
The Neolithic time period , not a fair amount has evolved during the first period of
mankind . However, there was a considerable span for drastic change in society.
During this time period people were evolving from nomads to settlers. The Neolithic
era started when people started to learn how to grow their own food , captured
animals but, instead of eating them they domesticated them, and they started to live a
sedentary life style. To begin with, Neolithicage commerce when people discovered
agriculture. Agriculture allowed people to settle down and farm . They wanted to
find resources where they could settle for a long period of time in a certain area.
Resources for survival example like water, food , and shelter. It led to settlements
Essay on Biography of William Blake
How you live your life and the people you surround yourself with influence and
inspire your work and success. William Blake was a famous artist, engraver and
poet. However, it was not until 1863 that he became famous when Alexander
Gilchrist published his biography(Blake, William, and Geoffrey Keynes).Blake and
his poetry have been compared to Shakespeare (Kathleen Raine). As an artist Blake
was equated to Michelangelo. Being born during the time of both the American and
French Revolution, William Blakewas against both the Church and the State. Blake
was a Dualist, believing the earth is broken up into two; good and evil, Heaven and
Hell. He was a visionary and was known to many as a modern day prophet (in class).

In June of 1780, the Gordon Riots broke out. The Gordon Riots were non catholic
demonstrations in response to a bill repealing penalties against the practice of
Roman Catholicism . Houses and chapels were burned down and many people
were arrested and killed. In addition, many prisoners were set free. Blake witnessed
the burning of Newgate Prison from the front line. He was mixed in with a mob
who attacked the prison (Thomas Wright). Gilchrist argues that Blake was forced to
join the mob. However, many biographers argue that Blake supported the
revolutionists and joined the mob by choice (The Complete Work). August 18,
1782, William Blake, at the age of 24, married 20 year old Catherine Boucher. She
was the daughter of a Battersea market gardener. Though Blake and Catherine had a
happy life together, they did not have any children. Catherine was uneducated and
illiterate (Blake, William, and Geoffrey Keynes.). Blake taught Catherine how to read
and write as well as how to engrave. In 1783, Blake published his first collection of
poems Poetical Sketches. (The Complete Work). Many people influenced the writing
of this collection. This included Shakespeare, John Milton, Thomas Fletcher,
Augustan Poetry and many, many more. One of the poems in this collection, To the
Muses , is contemporary poetry that mocks the Augustan Poetry. The poems in the
collection reflect Blake s objection to
I Have That Feeling Again
I have that feeling again. It s not going away. The memories of what you said haunt
me. If you want her, have her. She s the one you really want. I get it. I ll never be
your first choice. It s always her. She s prettier and skinnier. Okay, if you didn t
make me think that you actually like me, I wouldn t be as hurt. You know I like
you. You mean the world to me. What do I mean to you? You probably just keep
me around because I m your back up plan and I buy you stuff. Other than that, you
could care less that I exist. I walked into your life and we immediately clicked. But
less than a week later, you already broke my heart. Thanks to her. Then for a couple
of weeks things were smooth sailing. You slowly, ever so slowly began to

I hate seeing you hurt, but if you play with fire you ll get burnt. Both your sister
and I tried to warn you. You didn t listen. I honestly think you are listening to your
mind and not your heart. I want you to be happy. You ve told me multiple times
that I m the one who makes you happy. So why don t you want to be happy. I cried
last night. I know I m losing you. I don t want it to be reality I just want it to all be a
dream and when I wake up I would be in your arms. I lost you God da** it. I
fu***** lost you. How did I let this happen? You promised you wouldn t let go.
You promised. You broke it. I ll just toss that promise in with all the other broken
ones. You wouldn t even make eye contact with me. Except for today, today you
couldn t keep your eyes off of me. Do you have something to say? Do you regret
what you did? I don t understand. If you have something to say to me just say it. I
won t be mad. I just want to know why. I set you free. Like you wanted. She can have
you. I m done with you. Unless you realize what you did. I don t know if I could take
you back again. What you did fu***** hurt. You knew that I ve had a hard time
recently. Then you go and make it even worse. I told you everything. You said you
wouldn t stop talking to me. GUESS WHAT YOU DID. What did I ever do to you. I
made you feel wonderful . Or did you lie about that too? You said I made you feel
like never before besides that one other person. I guess she made you
The Glass Menagerie Three Visions Of Time
Yzabelle Tud
Researching Academic Articles
Summary of Article: The third article that I found is written by Sam Bluefarb, and
the title of the article is The Glass Menagerie: Three Visions of Time. In this article,
Bluefarb discusses The Glass Menagerie and analyzes why it is considered a play of
time. For instance, the author emphasizes Amanda s crave for the past, Tom s
yearning for the future, and Laura s view of time being meaningless. Bluefarb
stresses that Amanda is obsessed with her past; consequently, she wants to mold her
past into Laura s future. On the other hand, Tom looks forward to the future because
the future offers him an escape from his darkened, present life that arose from his
mother s burdensome past. Unlike Amanda ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Abelson, and the article is titled Women Who Have No Men to Work for Them :
Gender and Homelessness in the Great Depression, 1930 1934. In this article, Elaine
S. Abelson elaborately explains the effects that the Great Depression had on
women, specifically working women. Millions of women had jobs before the
stock market crashed. However, the Great Depression caused working women to
lose their jobs at a faster rate than men. In addition, it was extremely hard for
women to find ways of earning income because many places of employment
discriminated against them. Abelson emphasizes that the majority of women who
were unable to support their families were forced to adapt to a homeless lifestyle.
However, the few married women who acquired jobs during the depression were
envied for taking away a man s
The Impact Of Cybersecurity On The Business World
Due the advancement of technology over the past few decades, cybersecurity has
become a more prevalent issue for businesses than ever before. Prior to Thanksgiving
in 2013, Target experienced the biggest cybersecurity breach in retail history. Target
had all the correct controls put in place to prevent the cybersecurity attack. In fact, six
months before the attack [Target] began installing a $1.6 million malware detection
tool made by the computer securityfirm FireEye, whose customers also include the
CIA and the Pentagon (Bloomberg, How Target Blew It). Target s security
ignored all
the alerts that went off regarding the cybersecurity attack, and stood by as 40 million
credit card numbers and 70 million addresses, phone numbers, and other pieces of
personal information gushed out of its mainframes (Bloomberg, How Target Blew It).
The Target incident is just one example (of many) that demonstrates the need for
heightened cybersecurity in the business world. Today, there are various disclosure
requirements under multiple financial reporting jurisdictions regarding the impact
and cost of cybersecurity breaches. These requirements and disclosures will be
discussed in more detail below under the different reporting jurisdictions, including:
U.S. GAAP, IFRS, the SEC, and SOX.
Disclosure Requirements for Cybersecurity Breaches
U.S. GAAP 275 10
IFRS
SEC On October 13, 2011, the SEC released guidance for registrants regarding

The Red Candle In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club
The great battle of books vs movies is never ending. A book provides insight of the
characters feelings while a movie needs to evoke emotions in a shorter time frame.
The Joy Luck Club, written by Amy Tan, was adapted into a film in 1993. Unlike
the Harry Potter series Amy Tan cowrote the screenplay, meaning she had the
ultimate decision of what makes it in the movie. Comparing both was quite
interesting knowing that Amy Tan could ve kept The Red Candle story and kept a
clean view of the aunts in the story. The book The Joy Luck Clubwas a novel of
intertwined stories of four women and their daughters. Reading each story was like
finding a puzzle piece that lead to fully understand the characters. One of the
important stories used in the book was The Red Candle. The Red Candle is a the
symbol of marriage in China and the marriage was considered complete if the candle
remained burning through their marriage night. Lindo Jong purposely blew out the
candle and decided that she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The four women supported each other and they became a family of their own. When
Suyuan Woo passed away the remaining three; Lindo, Ying Yang and An Mei sent
letters to find the twins Suyuan abandoned in China to inform them of the
information. Once the twins were found they paid for a trip to China for June Woo
to visit her sisters. In contrast the movie made the group of women seem a bit
manipulative. When they found the twins instead of informing them of their mother
s death, they pretended that their mother was coming to visit rather than June.
Leaving June to explaining that their mother died years ago right after getting off
the ship. The change made June s trip to China more dramatic than it was in the
book which wasn t completely necessary. I think the portrayal of the group of
women during that scene didn t do the book s description justice, All it did was add a
dramatic touch to the end of the

As an American society we have gone from a life expectancy of approximately forty years to large masses of people living into their 100s. Throughout human history, things as simple the common cold and even curable diseases could wipe out an entire countries population, now with the many medical advances these circumstances can be controlled instead of being lethal. .These innovations are allowing people to live a higher quality of life as well as continuous research is inevitably leading to the cure of many different devastating illnesses. That being said, the world as we know is not perfect. There have been many technological advances in and outside the world of medicine, some of which may have led society down a dark path. With this issue of modern medicine and pharmaceutical tycoons being highly debated, three different authors have very similar opinions that have been molded from different experiences. • 5. Buck Ruxton Case The Case of Buck Ruxton In September of 1935, a bundle of human remains was found by a tourist, under the bridge of a small stream in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. The authorities were notified and police quickly recovered approximately thirty different body parts from the stream. That discovery also led to the retrieval of body parts in other dumping sites across the neighboring area (Goff, 2000). The body parts were secured in various items of clothing and some were wrapped in sheets of newspaper. The special edition of the newspaper, as well as the presence of Calliphora vicina (blowflies), found on the bodies would inevitably lead investigators to the English town of Lancaster and the arrest of one Buktyar Rustomji Ratanji Hakim (Goff, 2000). ... The samples were examined by Dr. Mearns, who made the determination that they were Calliphora vicina, a species commonly known as blowflies (Goff, 2000). This entomological evidence led to the conclusion that the flies were approximately twelve to fifteen days old. Investigators honed in on the newspaper that was used to wrap the victims, that was dated September 15th, 1935. Fortunately, the newspaper was a special edition issue that was only distributed across a small area, so law enforcement subpoenaed the list of subscribers. This allowed police to shift their attention to the town of Lancaster, England (Goff,

After plenty of research, experience, and self evaluation, I think I ve found a fairly solid fit. A fast moving, creative environment surrounded by interesting people, whilst utilizing my love for literature, a career in publishingis calling my name. Specifically, a career as an editor. She claims that it is Romeo s name, Montague, that is her enemy, and not Romeo himself, although Romeo s name influenced who he was. Most of the time, names are given to people by their family members after they are born. However, there are also people who choose their own names. Most names have a meaning behind them. That meaning doesn t always represent who we are. In my case, my name has a story behind it. Everyone s names were chosen for a reason, even if that reason is insignificant. Before I was born, my mom and my dad knew they wanted me to have an Armenian name. They were considering many different names, some of which are hard for Americans to pronounce. For that reason, they narrowed the choices down to a couple names that were more simple. They wanted it to be easy for others to pronounce and spell. Those choices were Tamar, Maral, and Lilit. The night that they were driving to the hospital before I was born, they came across a deer on the road. Since Maral translates to deer in Armenian, they decided to name me that. Although I wasn t named after anyone in particular, the culture behind my name is important to me and my parents. Before asking my parents about it, I never knew that they wanted my name to be easy for others to pronounce. Compared to other names, my name was always difficult for my teachers and classmates to say correctly. In fact,

Under the leadership of Brigadier General (BG) James Gavin, his paratroopers were tasked with dropping in northeast Netherlands to secure bridges at the towns of Grave and Nijmegan. The 82nd Airborne Division s primary target was securing the bridges at Nijmegan to facilitate the Allied Forces XXX Corps, who would be arriving through Nijmegan to a town called Arnhem. Arnhem was a town that laid on the German / Dutch border. Allied Intelligence determined that two SS Panzer Divisions of German forces occupied that town. Within the 82nd Airborne Division was the 504 Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR). Assigned to the 504th PIR was Charlie Company 307th Engineer Battalion. On the third day of Operation Market Garden, the 82nd Airborne, under BG Gavin, was directed to make an assault across the Waal River to secure the Nijmegan Highway Bridge. The 504th PIR was the primary assault force, augmented with engineers from C Co 307th Engineer Battalion. Significant voices are influenced by the values and beliefs of the composer, as well as cultural, political and historical content. Composers use a range of language tools and features to successfully covey messages to their audience. John F. Kennedy s Inaugural Address, Severn Cullis Suzuki s Address to the Plenary Session, Earth Summit and Charlie Chaplin s Let us all unite, all provide excellent examples of a distinctive voice. Each of these distinctive voices is formed through the use of emotive language, tone, repetition and rhetorical devices. JFK s, Inaugural address states President Kennedy s vision and mission for his term in office. Kennedy discusses important topics such as human rights and foreign affairs, voicing the common belief of hope shared by his audience. The distinguishing voice Kennedy establishes is defined by his use of an inspirational, determined tone. It is evident that he has a goal of getting the audiences attention to understand his points in a meaningful way. Rhetorical devices help form Kennedy s characteristic voice. Through rhetorical questioning, Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort? Kennedy s use of anaphora emphasises the idea of coming together and moving forward. Anaphora is shown
  • 11. The Assumptions Of Ability Grouping, Student Tracking And... Abstract This paper will dive into four common unwarranted assumptions made from ability grouping (student tracking) and attempt to debunk the ideas. Ability grouping is the common educational practice of separating students based on actual or purported ability in the same grade into different instructional groups with differing levels of aptitude or achievement (Ainsworth 2013). The four assumptions that will follow were researched by the former presidential professor in equity in the graduate school of education and information studies at UCLA, Jeannie Oakes. Ability grouping or student tracking is in fact illegal in the state of California but, institutions still find alternative ways to implement the method. Keywords: Ability Grouping, Students Tracking Debunking the False Assumptions of Ability Grouping The four ability grouping assumptions are as follow: (1) Students learn better when they are grouped with other students who have similar academic skills or prior levels of achievement, (2) slower students develop more positive attitudes about themselves and their education when they are not in daily classroom contact with those who are brighter, (3) track placements are part of a meritocratic system with assignments earned by students and accorded through fair and accurate means, and (4) teaching is easier when students are grouped homogeneously, and teaching is better when there are no slower students to lower the common denominator in the classroom

  • 13. The Relations Of Democratic Peace The interactions between nation states compose the framework of the modern world. The world s affairs are shaped by the diplomatic engagements of nations with one another, with each country playing on its own interests and concerns on the global stage. While no tangible system of international law rigidly regulates diplomacy, philosophies exist attempting to describe and even predict the interactions between countries. Among these is the notion of democratic peace, that which predicts a largely pacifist interaction between states, particularly democracies. Democratic peace plays on an optimistic view of democracies shaping their diplomatic practices with one another in an amicable manner as it provides that democracies inherently respect each other and their corresponding ways, while also listening to their inherent accountability to their people. While ideal, democratic peace fails to describe historical exchanges between democratic states, even in those instances in which tense dealings did not result in warfare. An opposing thought is provided as the reason why such an ideal fails, and it follows that realist interactions between nations is based largely on the very survival of the states involved. As such, factors like international prestige, and perceived strength come into play, and given these factors strong link to a demonstration of strength through potential warfare, democratic peace fails to be an accurate representation of present diplomatic practice given
  • 14. The Day Will Come That You Won T Be Analysis Similar to gothic literature, one of the scenes in The Day Will Come That You Won t Be has a biblical parallel. In this scene, the characters follow part of the story of Abraham and Isaac. In the show, Negan fulfills the role of God (which he would, undoubtedly, appreciate), Rick is Abraham, and Carl is Isaac. Negan demands a personal sacrifice of Rick that will protect other people, but cause profound damage to his son and himself. Negan demands fulfillment up until Rick has resigned himself to cutting of Carl s arm. Negan does not need Rick to actually complete the act, he just needs Rick to accept his domination. It functions not only as a test of Rick s sense of duty to his people and the power of his fear, but also makes Rick grateful to Negan. In a very twisted way, Negan saves Carl by sparing him from the fate Negan had demanded of him. It is a little different than the original story, Negan comes out of the situation with Rick s obedience, fear, and maybe some reverence. Maybe it s not so different after all.... • 15. The Progressive Era Of Social And Political Reform During the time from the 1890s to the 1920s a period of social and political reform took place in the United States known as the Progressive Era. The era saw the expansion of political and economic freedom through the reinvigoration of the moment for woman suffrage, the use of political power to expand workers rights and efforts to improve democratic government by weakening the power of the city bosses and giving ordinary citizens more influence on legislation. The progressive reformers from this time gained a majority of their support from the education middle class of urban areas. Another term used to describe these reformers is Muckrakers. Muckrakers were investigative journalists who tried to make the public aware of the problems in society that needed fixing. They stemmed from yellow journalism, which was a style of reporting that used exaggeration to attract readers. In a speech made by U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, the term muckraker was used in a derogatory way, he borrowed the word from John Bunyan s Puritan story Pilgrim s Progress, which spoke of a man with a Muck rake in his hand who raked filth rather than look up to nobler things. However, it eventually came to take on a positive overtone due to the serious social issues of the progressive era the muckrakers had underlined. The muckrakers during the progressive era inspired Americans to take action and hence are responsible for the social change that took place at that time. Lincoln

Writing 2 Yijia Chen In the article, The self in the age of Information, Kenneth Gergen argues that under the information era, technology leads people to lose the self and reflect this lost on the writing. Discussing the same period, Jeremy Rifkin in the chapter A Postmodern Stage showed a more positive perspective about the change. To support his argument, Gergen elaborates damages in the community and institution that nurtured independent self, the direct erosion to solitary self. In the pre modern world, people due to the lack of communication and transportation tools, have fewer opportunities to get in touch with various people outside. Therefore, people form consistent relationships with others, which derive a strong sense of being somebody everyone is familiar with. However, the advances in communication enable people to move household often and be in contact with a wider range of friends leading to average weakening bonds with more and fast changing friends. As a result of the decrease in deep relationships, in Gergen s notion, people receive less sense of identification. Moreover, the multi voices raised today and the suspicions over speakers motivations confuse people from faith to distrust. Other than environmental factors, Gergen addresses the erosion of the essential self directly undermine the intelligibility of the tradition self. People can t make independent and rational decision because of the conflicting stands they held in the same time and if
  • 23. Paul s Letter For The Romans Paul s letter to the Romans is special in many ways. It has provided the church with such theological doctrine. Within its long text, Paul assures equal judgment by God as well as equal chances to pursue righteousness to God. Paul addresses the debacle of Israel and the implications of that on the Gentiles. Paul looks to the Roman house churches and tackles possible issues within their context. Paul encourages the Romans to respect and not resist governing authorities. One topic Paul does not touch explicitly is the role of women in the church, but implicitly Paul speaks volumes about women within the church. In chapter 16, Paul commends and greets several women. His language gives strong clues to the state of women in the ministry of the early church. This paper will explore the way Paul commends and greets Phoebe, Prisca, Mary, and Juniaand the implications of those greetings to reach beyond the belittling of women in the church. Women in the Early Church It is difficult to address the topic of women in the early church because culturally, Women were not accepted. Generally, it has not been acceptable for women to have a teaching role within the church. More conservative denominations may even limit that more. Aside from a general lack of woman s rights throughout time within many cultures, Christians cite the idea that women cannot have positions of authority within the Church from passages like 1 Corinthians 14:34 where Paul says, The women should keep silent in the

Chesapeake Bay Taxation Essay We, the state of Virginia propose, with the aid of of our neighboring states and the approbation of Maryland, to make taxation an act that can only be done by states to their own citizens, so that we may navigate along the Potomac River and enter the Chesapeake Bay without taxation. In order to identify the state to which people belong, identification would be needed for individual men to present when crossing into the waters of other states, which would be applied for by citizens to the head of their states. Each identification will cost approximately $54 for each individual copy to be made, and will be charged at $60. The money to make the identification for the middle states facing the problem with Maryland would come from neighboring states, North Carolina, New Jersey, and Delaware, and each will contribute $3,000.... In addition, as Virginia, and its Neighboring states have omnipresent farmland from which are harvested most of Disunia s agricultural goods, by removing the tax their interstate trading will be increased, and states in the north with a surplus of manufactured items which the middle states need but cannot access because of their inability to pass the Chesapeake Bay without tax, will have further trade opportunities, therefore increasing their pecuniary standing in the confederation. In addition, this law will balance out state treasuries, and make it possible for states with smaller amounts of money in the state treasury such as Rhode Island, Delaware, and Connecticut, to trade without putting additional and unnecessary monetary stress on them. Lastly, this will give states that aren t in a prime location regarding harbors for trade, equal opportunities to use the harbors of states on harbors and
  • 25. Essay Explain the Platonic Concept of Forms Explain the Platonic concept of Forms. Plato believed that reality is more than what we sense around the world (e.g. taste, smell, hear, see and touch), he believed that behind these physical realities lies a perfect version of them in which he called Forms and that the greatest thing we can learn is to have knowledge and understanding of them. Plato s theory means that what we can sense around us (for example a chair) is just a mere shadow of the perfect version which exists in the world of Forms. The perfect version of a chair is one in which for fills its purpose e.g. to be comfortable and to be sat on. Plato believed that everything had a perfect Form, from objects such as pens and books to things such as beauty and justice. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be traced backwards to every single item that is in the real world creating an infinite regression, and therefore we have to ask ourselves, how big is the world of Forms? Another reason why is it true to say that Forms teach us nothing about the real world is the queries of the Form of evil. If the Forms are perfect versions and what we have in the world of our senses are just mere shadows, how much worse can the evil get? And do we therefore really want to thrive to become the perfect philosopher if it means experiencing that? For example, if Hitler caused so much pain and suffering to so many people during the Holocaust, do we really want to go through that but of a worse/bigger scale in the world of Forms? And also in what form are is the evil in? In the form of famine and disease, murder and genesis or something much worse. Aristotle, another famous philosopher, argued against Plato s well known theory of Forms and stated that what we seen and experience is material whilst universals are only abstract projections of this. This completely contradicts Plato s theory and so do many other philosophers such as Thomas Aquinas. However, whilst it is possible that one of these theories are right there is no evidence to support it which is another one of the theories floors. Another common criticism of Plato s theory is that although the Form of good has had an influence of Christian teachings and theology, it is extremely difficult to see how
  • 26. The Importance Of Folk Music The reason why history exists is because some people felt that certain events were so important that they must be recorded down for future generations to see. Many forms of history exist in typical forms such as text or photos, but some of history s defining moments are displayed in the form of art. In the past before a written language was formed people passed down their history through oral means such as stories and music. Music especially played a role in the passing down of history because it was easy to remember things to the beat of a song. The reason why so many people remember the lyrics to a song rather than what they studied for a history exam they have coming up is because our brain can connect the lyrics to the beat which makes it easier to remember. One form of song which can play a huge role in a society s history and culture is folk music. Folk music defines the culture of the society and the history behind it. They tell a story of a key person, place, thing, or event that has occurred in that community and the impact it has had on that community. Because of their impact on society historians research a places folk music in order to get a better grasp on what made that place into what it is. Therefore, folk songs are just as legitimate to history as written documents and provide a unique knowledge that may not be understood by just reading documents. Many historians spend time researching about a place or event by looking at written forms of primary
  • 27. The Electric Conductivity in the Ionosphere Essay examples The electric conductivity in the ionosphere associates the electric current and the electric field by Ohm s law. The conductivity includes the Pedersen component ( Expression 1 ) parallel to the electric field and the Hall component ( Expression 2 ) perpendicular to the electric and the magnetic field. The conductivities usually concentrate between 100 and 130 km altitudes in the central E region where ions and electrons can move separately. Conductivities are proportional to plasma densities. Daytime plasmas are mainly created by the solar extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation into the neutral atmosphere. Thus daytime plasma densities depend on the solar zenith angle (SZA, Expression 3 ). Height profiles of such plasma densities are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In summary, SZA dependences are qualitatively different among previous studies. The purpose of this study is to find simple and essential approximations of conductances against SZA. In particular, we will express the Hall to Pedersen conductance ratio as a function of SZA. We will conclude that the daytime conductance can be understood by the Chapman theory after additional considerations including (1) upward gradient of the atmospheric temperature, (2) vertically flat plasma density profile in the topside E region, and (3) variations of conductance layer thickness. Conductances are also dependent of the incident solar flux and the local magnetic strength. Such additional dependences will be studied in the future after the SZA dependences are established. K-T Extinction Outline Dalia Rodriguez Historical Geology 205 November 25, 2015 KT Extinction Abstract The Cretaceous Tertiary extinction, also known as the K T extinction, was a global extinction event that struck the Yucatan Peninsula at the end of the end of the Mesozoic Era, 65 million years ago. Walter Alvarez first discovered a meteorite big enough to be called a small asteroid that hit the Earth, creating the Chicxulub crater. Once the asteroid struck the North American continent, there were igneous rocks underneath the crater that contained high levels of a rare siderophile element, iridium. This catrostopic event had a massive effect on the environment, as several mammals, birds, and plants became extinct. It also caused an impact winter that made it impossible for plants and plankton to photosynthesis, as 75% of inland animals and 90% of marine species were affected. Not only did it cause an impact winter, but the asteroid also caused volcanic eruptions, climate change and sea level rise. Geologists have also found rich dinosaur, plant and marine fossils to illustrate the K T extinction. This event not only caused species to become extinct, but it also had an adaptive radiation, as other species were able to diversify. Introduction The asteroid colliding with Earth left evidence in the planets core and mantle with iridium and shocked quartz. Iridium is present in extraterrestrial objects like asteroids and meteorites. The asteroid impact

It is totally true that people without jobs are not free because people without a job became homeless, street gang members, and slave. Also, people without jobs became to do suicide because they felt their life was empty and felt depressed. Being able to work is a blessing for life because not everyone can work even though they wanted to work. Think about this. What if a patient said I wanted to work for my people and for my country. Is that will be possible to work for him, according to the person s situation? People just noticed that the benefits of having a job when they did not have the ability to work. Jordyn Cooper SILC 4315.06 Andrepoint Article Review Cultural responsiveness and school wide positive behavior support although total opposites in theoretical foundations, when blended together in the school system can have a positive outcome for student s cultural equity. With the increasing clash of cultures between teachers and students, teachers today must practice being sociocultural conscious while, being culturally responsive to their students needs and behavior in order to be an effective teacher. These topics are important because although the demographics of the student population are quickly changing and are more diverse than ever, the demographics of the teacher workforce are staying predominately white. This reason is why I chose the articles, Toward a Conceptual Integration of Cultural Responsiveness and Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support, as well as, A Culturally Responsive Counter narrative of effective teaching. The student population is more diverse than ever before with non white enrollment up to 45% in 2008 from 32% in 1988 (Aud, Hussar, Planty, Snyder, Bianco, Fox, Drake, 2010). With the changing student demographics it is important that we as educators focus on educational practices that afford all students a level playing field in their educational experience. The structure of the real world problem is as follows. The company has a set of points of sale for a product that must be visited every month at a frequency determined by its sales volume by one of the nine company trucks travelling from a central depot to which they must return after their journey. One factor that is still relevant to our society is doing things that are forbidden from us. There is always that one person who is curious which makes them more anxious to do things that they are told not to do. When people are forbidden from doing something, most likely it will make them more interested in doing it. And then the bone spit out its saliva, which landed squarely in the hand of the maiden. ( Popul Vuh 1752). By going to the tree, the maiden faced the consequence of getting impregnated by the skull that was on top of the tree. If she would have listened to the people, then she wouldn t have been impregnated with the twins. These dances have been done for many years and the people have seen them since they were young. They are a very important part of West African culture and mean a great deal to their community. These dances can be described by the music, costumes, and the purpose of each piece. Music for West African danceis traditionally done with drums. Different rhythms call for different steps that have different intentions. The music may build, so the dancing would also start to develop off that and depending on what the performers are representing would determine the rhythm that they follow. People watching may also chant and clap along while the dancers perform. These chants are done to specific dances that happen during certain ceremonies. This makes the dance all inclusive so even if someone is not dancing they still are a part of the celebration. The dancers may also interact with people watching. People watching may also talk to the musicians that are playing for the dancers. The music is different for each dance and certain rhythms are set for certain moves that the dancers do. The dancers could also express more than one rhythm at a time. One part of their body be on a fast rhythm while another is on a slow rhythm. This can often tell how advanced the dancer is if they can do more than one rhythm means they are more advanced For each dance they do their costuming can be different depending on what they are representing. For some dances they could wear masks to represent gods, animals or emotions. Mask help the people feel closer to the thing that is being represented they feel that they are really seeing something other than the dancer behind the mask. The costuming may also be more elaborate if they are representing a God or someone important in their village, like the chief. Costumes can also be very simple and just provide more movement as the dancers move. The costumes can also move your focus to certain parts of the body. If, the performance focuses on one part

  • 41. The Wage Gap, Worker Discrimination And Varying... In terms of attributing to the wage gap, worker discrimination and varying preferences occurs largely based on views surrounding what jobs are male or female dominated. Although worker discrimination and wage discrepancies are a reality in Brazil, the labor market conditions for women are becoming better over time. Despite gender segregation in the labormarket, the wages of women are sometimes evenly or positively affected. For instance, For industries and occupations where women receive higher remuneration than men, we observe that women have higher education levels, indicating that their higher remuneration is due to individual characteristics (Madalozzo 165). Even though a positive correlation has been observed regarding women s education level and wage, in general, men still benefit more based on their individual characteristics, which is why they are generally paid more. According to Madalozzo, This diп¬Ђerence in pay is decreasing but was still a signiп¬Ѓcant 15.4 percent, on average, in 2007, and ...the present study improves the quantiп¬Ѓcation of this wage gap, showing that the trend of a decreasing gap remains, but is losing pace overtime (165 66). In order to combat the presence of the wage gap, policies regarding bettering women s education and incentivizing women to enter the labor market should be implemented because the current system discourages women to enter the market. According to Galor and Weil, ...increasing women s relative wages reduces fertilityby
  • 42. Memory Distortion Memory vs. Experience Do we really know what is true to remember? Do we really remember the actual memory? Although some people do not believe that people can mentally delete parts of a memory, many cases prove this method of memory distortion. The perception people remember that they had within a memory is what forms the factual pieces of a memory. During the recall and retrieval process, a memory is replayed consistently, but the more times it is replayed, the more times new and inaccurate information is added to the memory. We do not choose between experiences; we choose between memories of experiences. Our memory is tampered with by the many factors that interfere with the encoding process of memory, therefore, changing the memory altogether. Experimental work on memory distortion has caught the consideration of the more extensive emotional wellness field, of the legitimate calling, and of the overall population. One reason is this: In the most recent decade, hundreds if not a great many of patients have risen up out of psychotherapy charging their fathers and moms, their uncles and granddads, their previous neighbors, their previous instructors and specialists, and endless others, of sexually manhandling them years prior. The patients frequently guarantee that they have stifled or separated the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some sense the trials in the deception worldview, in which individuals are given transcripts said to have been given by different witnesses of a severe event, can be considered as exhibitions of social impacts on memory. This is particularly valid for such studies that have analyzed the credibility of the source giving the deceptive data [Underwood 8: Pezdek, 1998]. Then again, efficient studies manipulating social weight and gathering agreement on false recollections are only just now starting to

Prior to Thanksgiving in 2013, Target experienced the biggest cybersecurity breach in retail history. Target had all the correct controls put in place to prevent the cybersecurity attack. In fact, six months before the attack [Target] began installing a $1.6 million malware detection tool made by the computer securityfirm FireEye, whose customers also include the CIA and the Pentagon (Bloomberg, How Target Blew It). Target s security ignored all the alerts that went off regarding the cybersecurity attack, and stood by as 40 million credit card numbers and 70 million addresses, phone numbers, and other pieces of personal information gushed out of its mainframes (Bloomberg, How Target Blew It). The Target incident is just one example (of many) that demonstrates the need for heightened cybersecurity in the business world. A book provides insight of the characters feelings while a movie needs to evoke emotions in a shorter time frame. The Joy Luck Club, written by Amy Tan, was adapted into a film in 1993. Unlike the Harry Potter series Amy Tan cowrote the screenplay, meaning she had the ultimate decision of what makes it in the movie. Comparing both was quite interesting knowing that Amy Tan could ve kept The Red Candle story and kept a clean view of the aunts in the story. The book The Joy Luck Clubwas a novel of intertwined stories of four women and their daughters. Reading each story was like finding a puzzle piece that lead to fully understand the characters. When Suyuan Woo passed away the remaining three; Lindo, Ying Yang and An Mei sent letters to find the twins Suyuan abandoned in China to inform them of the information. Once the twins were found they paid for a trip to China for June Woo to visit her sisters. In contrast the movie made the group of women seem a bit manipulative. When they found the twins instead of informing them of their mother s death, they pretended that their mother was coming to visit rather than June. Leaving June to explaining that their mother died years ago right after getting off the ship. The change made June s trip to China more dramatic than it was in the book which wasn t completely necessary. I think the portrayal of the group of women during that scene didn t do the book s description justice, All it did was add a dramatic touch to the end of the
