2. Different Types Of Abortion
• Manual Vacuum Aspiration
• Suction Curettage
• D & C (Dilation and Curettage)
• D & E (Dilation and Evacuation)
• Saline
• Prostaglandin
• Hysterotomy
• D & X (Dilation and Extraction)
3. What is abortion?
the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy,
most often performed during the first 28 weeks.
Abortion ends a pregnancy by destroying and
removing the developing child.
The term "abortion" actually refers to any premature
expulsion of a human fetus, whether naturally
spontaneous, as in a miscarriage, or artificially
induced, as in a surgical or chemical abortion.
4. Why do people have abortions?
• Age- Most abortions are done on women under the age of 25.
most women feel that they are too young to have children,
therefore they carry out abortions.
• Financial situation- people that are finically unstable feel that
they cannot afford to raise a child. Many women do not want to
bring a baby into the world knowing that they are finically
unstable.
• Pregnancy resulting from rape
• Marital status- Most women seeking abortions are unmarried;
many others are separated from their spouse. Some women do
not want to have the responsibility of bringing up a child on
their own.
• Failure of birth control-
• To prevent the birth of a child with server medical conditions
5. Pro life argument
• Life begins at conception- therefore abortion is equivalent to murder as it is
the act of taking someone's life.
• No civilized society would allow one human being to intentionally take the
life of another human being, therefore abortion should be no different.
• Sanctity of life- all life is precious and created by god therefore no one has
the right to take anyone's life away, except from god.
• An abortion can result in medical complications later on in life such as the
risk of ectopic pregnancies doubles, and the chance of a miscarriage and
pelvic inflammatory disease also increases.
• Abortion could cause intense psychological pain.
• Abortion offends god- abortion is against the creation of God. Catholics and
most Christians believe that abortion is murder and that there are no
exceptions allowed.
• Life starts at the moment of conception- people believe that living beings
come alive all at once, even if it is only a cell. Religious people also believe
that the soul enters the baby at conception, therefore the foetus is a baby
from the very beginning.
6. Pro choice argument
• Religious ideology is no foundation for any law-
freedom from religion is allowed to all citizens.
• People who are victims of rape should not be forced
to keep the baby. Women should not be allowed to
be forced to carry out pregnancy from this
violation. People would argue that if women are
forced to keep the baby then they would have to
spend the rest of their time re-living what
happened.
• The government should not be allowed to make
medical or personal decisions, only doctors and
real experts in this area should be allowed to make
decisions about abortion.
• A women should be able to make decisions about
her own body.
