Creativity arises from the interplay of knowledge, creative thinking skills, and motivation. Knowledge requires both deep learning in one's interests as well as general awareness in other areas. Creative thinking skills include being open to new ideas, accepting criticism, persistence, and interest in collaboration. The three aspects of intelligence that support creative thinking are synthetic, analytical, and practical. Motivation can be intrinsic, arising from within, or extrinsic from external rewards or punishments.
