5. Within 7–10 years, a majority of entry
level jobs that primarily involve working on
a computer will be replaced by robots.
6. As work shifts from humans to robots,
a “digital workforce” will emerge, mirroring
the human organization. Robots will be
“part of the organization.”
7.
8. Companies that achieve long lasting
benefits at scale will integrate
continuous improvement and change
management practices into
their delivery model.
10. Do you?
1. Improve the process first
2. Automate the process first
3. Tweak then automate
11. Leading with Process Improvement will
generate higher volumes of more impactful
automation ideas.
12. “Let’s Automate Cost Tracking”
Analyst 1
Analyst 2
Analyst 3
Sends spreadsheet X
every day
Sends spreadsheet
Y every week
Sends spreadsheet
Z every three days
1. Accommodating every nuance would
make the bot huge
2. Excessive regression testing required
with changes
3. The automation would not be portable
across locations
4. Adding new locations would be difficult
5. Dilutes efficiency and quality benefits.
13. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3S
Let’s all agree to do step 2
the same way from now on…
Let’s eliminate step 3.
Hey! I’m upstream from the
process but if you could
automate my last step, it
would save me a lot of time
Step 0
1. The bot is much smaller
2. Making changes to the bot
is simpler
3. The bot can quickly scale
as locations are added
4. Benefits are 2-10x
“Let’s Improve Then Automate Cost Tracking”
15. 1. Find broken processes that leaders want
to improve
2. Quickly map and tweak the process with
relevant stakeholders before automating
3. “Go Upstream” if you can. Value will
compound.
18. 1.Help leaders identify and
develop new jobs
2.Waylay employee fears:
robots will improve careers not
destroy them
3.Focus on maintaining
enthusiasm vs. building buy-in
4.Help people understand RPA
benefits.
RPA & Change Management?
20. Intentionally integrate process improvement
and change management.
Lead with process improvement but
follow a “tweak” approach
Generate and sustain excitement as you go!
