A Study On Space Debris
MengYun Zeng(1239987) ESS 102 AC Erika Harnett April 14, 2016 Space Debris Probably most
people do not know but this is a severe thing that there is more than 170 million space debris
floating within 35000 km of Earth and over 29,000 are a size larger than 10cm (ESA). Even a 1–cm
debris probably could disable a spacecraft (ESA). What makes this problem worse is space debris
also crash into each other and create hundred more pieces each time and this chain reaction will
create a dense cloud of space debris in certain orbits so anything cannot traverse safely (National1).
The space debris is a serious problem that needs all the countries and organizations that launched or
planning to launch to space to get attention with. If people are still despite the serious consequences
caused by the space debris and no countermeasure are taken, the exponential growth of debris
creates by the collision "would become too hazardous to continue space operation in low Earth
orbit" (Whitehouse). In order to decrease the impacts of space debris, national space agencies and
organizations need to devising plans or following some guidelines to cleanup the space debris or at
least limiting the future space debris. The following paragraphs will explain what is space debris?
Where they come from? Why they caused so many problems? Where they cause problems? Also the
potential solutions for cleaning the debris. When we talking about the space junk people may think
about the wastes that astronauts

ABSTRACT
Modern wireless communications technology has almost become synonymous with digital satellite
communications. It is hence, a key element in the current era of globalization as it has so largely
been adopted as a primary means of communication. This paper attempts to investigate modern
digital satellite communications providing a progressive transition from a conceptual to a more
technical view of the digital communication process through a satellite from one earth terminal to
another.
INTRODUCTION
Satellite communications today, is an integral part of our everyday life and the world at large. From
providing in–flight communication in airplanes, GPS navigation systems to even determining long–
term patterns and statistical data of the atmosphere for climate monitoring and remote sensing, the
importance of satellite communication systems have become invaluable. More applicable to our
everyday life, it is used in telephone and television communication systems. Satellites are preferred
to other means of communications because they possess features not available in other
communication systems. For example, signals can be received and sent over thousands of miles also
with an added advantage of its immunity to political and geographical boundaries.

– The coverage area of a satellite greatly exceeds.
– Transmission cost of a satellite is independent of the distance from the center of the coverage area.
– Satellite to satellite communication is very precise.
– Higher bandwidths are available for use.
Disadvantage
– Huge initial cost
– Noise and interference
– Propagation delay
Conclusion
In conclusion, the use of satellite technology, particularly in the use of communications satellites has
grown rapidly in the past thirty years. Each day more and more uses for the satellites are being
discovered. Feeding this is the rapid advancement of technology that allows the quick
implementation of these uses.

The Current Methods Used For Extra Terrestrial Intelligence
DISCUSS THE CURRENT METHODS USED TO SEARCH FOR EXTRA–TERRESTRIAL
INTELLIGENCE, SUCH AS RADIOTELESCOPES AND SPACE PROBES. GIVE YOUR
OPINION ON HOW LIKELY IT IS THAT LIFE WILL BE DISCOVERED AND GIVE

WHAT IS EXTRA–TELESTRIAL INTELLIGENCE?
Extra–terrestrial Intelligence can be abbreviated to ETI, which asks the question; 'Are we alone in
this universe?' ETI is life discovered beyond Earth, not organisms that humans sent to space.
Scientifically, extra–terrestrial life may be titled; xenobiology, exobiology or astrobiology.

This allows communication satellites to remain in the same position in relation to the ground.
– Inclined orbit: An inclined satellite passes over a different part of the planet each orbit.
– Polar orbit: A polar orbit passes over the north and south poles each orbit crossing various places
in the equator each orbit.
– Elliptical orbit: An elliptical orbit has no specific speed or distance, it depends on the apogee
(furthest distance away) and perigee (closest to the surface).
The first artificial satellite was Sputnik 1, and satellites have continued to be launched since 1957.
Sputnik 1 was a small aluminium ball with four antennas attached, although modern ETI's have
more complex bodies they are still designed following the same basic structure. With
experimentation, these bodies have been designed to be as strong and light as possible with the same
essential uses. There is a platform named a bus inside satellites which has; antennas, solar arrays and
payload instruments attached. It also contains batteries, computers and thrusters. Satellites have
large panels attached as they have to charge themselves, these arrays can be tilted to allow for the
most amount of sunlight possible. If the satellite drifts into shade rechargeable batteries become the
new power source.

The Space Of Space Exploration
Space exploration has opened up so many new aspects to what is really out there and we have
accomplished many things in terms of discovery and proof. There are issues involved with space
exploration, though, such as space debris, astronaut safety, and the theory of space exploration really
being a mission to find an alternative livable space if Earth ever becomes uninhabitable.
Understanding the real reasons why we are going to such great lengths to find life in space could
change the outlook on our future. For a long time, our endeavors in space exploration were based
purely in the name of science. When we made our first accomplishments, we made history. One of
our most historical accomplishments was NASA's mission to the moon. Buzz Aldrin was a lunar
module pilot on the spaceflight Apollo 11 in 1969. He went alongside Neil Armstrong as the second
man in history to step foot on the moon. In his 2013 article in Astronomy, Buzz states, "Looking at
Earth from that perspective, everything I knew and loved lay suspended overhead, residing on a
small, fragile, bright blue sphere engulfed by the blackness of space" (p.24). This sight that he
explained not only changed his perspective, but brought unspeakable awe to humanity's front door
and changed our entire view of Earth. From that moment when these men landed on the moon, and
we saw our home from that distance, history was made. The successful outcome of this mission
opened up a whole new set of possibilities into the

An ever–growing competition and growing consolidation. DISH Network faces intense and
increasing competition from satellite TV providers, cable companies and telecommunications
companies, as the pay–TV market becomes larger. FCC regulations could impact the company's
ability to acquire cable–affiliated programming. DISH Network operates in a highly regulated
industry. The company is subject to significant government regulation, primarily by the Federal
Communications Commission (FCC). Any new rules and regulations could negatively affect
operations. There is a heavy dependence on third parties for programming services. The company's
programming agreements have terms ranging from less than one to up to several years and contain
various renewal and cancellation provisions. If they do not renew in time, or with good conditions,
they could lose customers and revenue due to the increased inconvenience of h network (Market
line, 2016). It is important that DISH Network analyze and understand the external risk factors of
their organization, in order to create a plan of action to effectively face these risk

The Importance Of Space Exploration
Human beings have been in space for more than fifty years and produced benefits that improve our
quality of life. We take many things in our everyday lives for granted that were a direct result of
space exploration. This is not limited to technological advancements, but reflected in art, literature,
film, technical innovation, global partnerships, and influenced culture on a global scale. Technology
is a part of daily life and Space exploration continues to be the catalyst for advancement. Satellite
technology is one example. After many years of satellite use for space exploration, satellite
television was introduced. "In 1978, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) introduced Public
Television Satellite Service" (Advances in Satellite TV: Changing the Way We Watch Television).
Shortly after, direct to home receivers were created (Advances in Satellite TV: Changing the Way
We Watch Television). Satellite broadcasting allowed television to be streamed all over the world
with stronger more reliable signals. Today most of the global population watches television.
Satellites provide the GPS system, which is mainly used as a system of navigation. GPS technology
is evolving today enabling things such as autonomous vehicles. These ideas used to be seen as
futuristic, but not anymore. In the near future we could see people driving places on what amounts
to auto–pilot.. The equipment company John Deere is already close to producing accurate self
driving farming equipment. During the

Reasons for the Decline of the Parallel Cinema Movement in...
It is an arduous task to single out one specific reason accountable for the decline of the parallel
cinema movement in India. There are numerous inextricable technological as well as economic
factors involved. A decade of 1980 to 2000 in India saw radical economic and technological
transformations. This was the period when Doordarshan exponentially expanded its network for the
upcoming Asian Games in 1982 and colour television took birth. More importantly, this was also the
period when the policy of economic liberalisation was launched. The liberalisation policy put an end
to Doordarshan's monopoly over broadcasting allowing the entry of satellite television. Shrewd
media moguls like Rupert Murdoch and Summer Redstone hastened to get a toehold in an emerging
economy that promised to become a burgeoning media market. In 1995, commercial internet came
to India, and took off rapidly enough to enable a dot–com boom. Both satellite TV and internet
captured the attention of the growing urban middle class eager for more media choice. These
technological changes induced by digitisation changed media habits and concurrently transformed
and took over both the production and exhibition of cinema. Large number of new players entered in
film production and the exhibition of films unlike earlier were not only restricted to theatres but
were simultaneously exhibited and promoted by satellite TV and the web.
Sudhir Nandgoankar, General Secretary of FFSI says, "The long march of the movement

The Race to Space Essay
The Race to Space
The tension that existed between the U.S. and Russia during the years after WWII was not only a
time that both countries patiently tried to keep the world from another war, but was also a time of
great rivalry in the exploration of space. As both counties diligently experimented with plans for
creating a way to get into the vastness of space, spies on both sides were already in place to steal
those ideas. And so the space race begun. Both countries wanted to be the first to succeed so
millions were spent as the world watched as the U.S. and Russia went head to head in a battle that
would change the world forever. The space race began with the launch of Sputnik 1 on October 4,

In late July of 1955, President Dwight D. Eisenhower announced that the United States would
launch several small satellites, which was to begin July 1, 1957. Within a couple days, the Russians
announced similar intentions, but the Soviet satellite would be larger than the American one. By
mid–1957, the official Soviet press suggested the first launch was months away. Few people in the
United States paid much attention to the prediction though. On October 4, 1957, Sputnik lifted off.
Sputnik was only in orbit for three weeks, but those who tracked it gained valuable information
about the destiny of the upper atmosphere and the manner in which it altered the satellite's orbit. On
January 4, 1958, after ninety–two days in orbit, Sputnik I re–entered the Earth's atmosphere and
burned up. On November 3, 1957, the USSR launched Sputnik II. It was a much heavier satellite,
which carried the first living mammal into space. It was a dog named Laika. Laika died after ten
days in space. Some of the information sent from the satellite showed that Laika was alive until
there was no more oxygen left on board. Sputnik II re–entered the Earth's atmosphere and burned up
on April 14, 1958, after 162 days in space. President Eisenhower announced on November 7, 1957
that James R. Killian would be the first White House science advisor and soon approved one billion

Essay The Sputnik Launch
The world has experienced very many huge moments, such big moments in which sometimes you
don't think it's really happening. October 4, 1957, was one of those days. Because that was the day
the world changed forever and there was no turning back. It was the day of the Sputnik launch.
Sputnik was a Soviet satellite that orbited in the earth's rotation 500 miles above the earth and
traveling at about 18,000 mph. It took approximately 98 minutes for it to rotate the earth which
meant it passed the United States seven times a day. It looked like it was from a whole another
world or out of a movie or a fantasy story. It consisted of a ball with four stem like structures
coming out and pointing down at the ground. The ball like structure ... Show more content on

The launch of the Sputnik had such a big impact on America because "America thought of
themselves as the world's technological leaders" (Richerme 35). Also "the Soviets, after all, were not
supposed to be good at technology" (DeGroot 3). This scared America and brought them into a big
crisis or as some call a race. This race was known as the space race and it was a very long and
twisted path that it bared on its shoulders. Now that after America and the Soviet Union where both
partaking in the space race they both had suspicions about each other. Eisenhower, on the other
hand, saw satellites as "pointless unless they provided something useful back on Earth" (DeGroot 5).
" A spy satellite, on the other hand, could provide accurate pictures of Soviet military capabilities,
thus enabling the United States to spend its defense budget wisely, without wasting huge sums on
challenging phantom forces" (DeGroot 5). America was worried about the Soviets spying on
America because of security issues so America wanted to pursue on building themselves a satellite
to "provide accurate pictures of Soviet military capabilities" (DeGroot 5). The only problem was
that " Flying over another nation's territory without permission was, however, illegal under
international law. What was not clear was whether the law applied to satellites" (DeGroot 5).

Pros And Cons Of Space Race
Do We Need Another Space Race? The possibility of a second space race has grown stronger than
ever recently. After the launch of the most affordable and the second most powerful rocket of all
time, the Falcon Heavy by SpaceX, the subject has been given new life. Following the successful
launch, Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX, stated that he wants to start a second space race. Already,
his wish has started coming true. After only a week after the first launch, many other companies
have already stated their own plans for rocket launches and development. However, throughout all
the excitement and speculations, people are forgetting to ask an important question: do we even
need another space race? The original space race took place from the estimated years of 1957 all the
way through 1975, starting with the launch of the first man made satellite, the Sputnik I, and ending
with the Apollo–Soyuz mission, which contained a Soviet cosmonaut and an American astronaut
shaking hands in outer space, closing off the space race with a rather symbolic ending. During the
space race, the United States and the Soviet Union, who were the strongest nations in the world at
the time, both competed to make the most scientific and technological ... Show more content on

There are a few downsides scattered around that are either entirely unavoidable or just simply need
to be worked out. The biggest problem that would most likely form is the increased amount of
pollution that would result from a higher launch rate for rockets and other space fairing vehicles.
The Falcon Heavy rocket used around 970,034 pounds of fuel during the test flight from February of
2018. SpaceX also plans on launching another rocket every two weeks sometime in the future,
which would unfortunately cause major environmental damage unless a new, less damaging fuel

Strategic Management Of Dish Network Essay
Strategic management in DISH Network is one of the most critical aspects of management.
Effective strategic management could be the difference of DISH Network is successful or a failing
organization. The successful implementation of the strategic management plan in a large corporation
like Dish is highly reliant on measurement and evaluation efforts during and after the
implementation phase. Strategic implementation is the process that puts plans and strategies into
action to reach goals. A strategic plan is a written document that lays out the plans of the business to
reach goals, and is put into action with strategic implementation. Strategic implementation makes
the company's plans happen. Strategic implementation is critical to a company's success, addressing
the who, where, when, and how of reaching the desired goals and objectives (Lorette, 2016). By
analyzing and identifying strategies from DISH over the past couple years that did not work out so
well versus strategies that were successful to build my case. I will evaluate barriers might have
gotten in the way of any less successful strategies, and what type of strategic evaluation efforts do
you think are necessary to keep an eye on progress in a large company like Dish. I will explain how
measurement of implementation process help assures DISH's success, and the evaluation process
helps to assure future success to the company. DISH Network was founded in 1980 by Charles

In the 1940s and 1950s cable television had very poor reception until "community antennas" were
built on mountain tops or high points. In the late 1950s "distant signals" began to change the focus
of cable's role from one of transmitting local broadcast signals to one of providing new
programming choices. By 1962 there were around 850,000 subscribers and well known corporate
names began investing in the business (NCTA, 2010). In the 70s the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) started to enact regulations that limited the cable operators programming. This
is the time that the business aspect of cable television became a part of American history. When the
cable companies can regulate what people are able to get for free or at a lower rate, they can charge
more for other syndicated programming. From 1984 to 1992 the cable industry forked over more
than 15 billion dollars on the wiring of America. This was the largest private construction project
since World War II. In 2001 there were more than twenty two million cable customers in the United
States and now there are over 100 million cable subscribers in the US (NCTA, 2010). From the first
broadcast that Hoover made to having 8 million television sets in America it only took about 25

The Nasa Space Flight Center Essay
The Goddard Space Flight Center states that there are 2,271 artificial satellites currently in space
orbiting the earth. An artificial satellite is a hand–made machine that orbits the planet earth to help
in many different ways in communications, documenting information, sending and receiving
signals. A satellite is a moon, planet, or a machine that orbit a planet or a star. There are many types
of satellites and each one is used for different reasons. Some satellites are used to send and receive
television signals. Some other satellites are used in communications by making it possible to send
and receive signals from phones, fax, internet and computers to people all over the world. Other
satellites are used in forecasting by giving information about the earth's weather to scientists. Also,
there is another type of satellites that take accurate picture of earth to show the environmental
situation such as resources, pollution and statistics of crops and water (NOAA, 2014). Satellites
improved a lot in the daily life uses such as weather forecasting, documenting information,
communication and positioning systems.
The idea of satellites The development of the invention started in 1952 when the International
Council of Scientific Unions decided to start a project named International Geophysical Year which
started on July1, 1957 and ended on December31, 1958. They put in considerations to launch the
artificial satellite in this year for mapping earth's surface (Verma, 2012).

What is a satellite?
A satellite is a small thing orbiting or circling a larger thing. The complete path it follows is called
an orbit. The moon is a example of a natural satellite of the earth. Manmade, or artificial satellites
are placed into orbit by rockets or space shuttles.
After World War II, the former Soviet Union successfully launched Sputnik I, the first artificial
satellite in 1951, into space. In 1958, the United States launched its first artificial satellite Telstar I
into orbit. Since then, many more satellites were made by different countries and launched into
space.

The closest point a satellite comes to the Earth is called its perigee. The farthest point is the apogee.
The time it takes a satellite to make one full orbit is called its period. The slope is the angle the
orbital plane makes when compared with the Earth's equator.
Isaac Newton's First Law of Motion sounds like this any given object there is in motion will stay in
motion unless something pushes or pulls on it. Without gravity an Earth–orbiting satellite would go
off into space along a straight line. With gravity it is pulled back toward the Earth. There is a
constant tug–of–war between the satellites tendency to move in a straight line, or momentum, and
the tug of gravity pulling it back.
An object's momentum and gravity have to be balanced for an orbit to happen. If the forward
momentum of one object is too great, it will speed past the other one and not enter into orbit. If
momentum is too small, the object will be pulled into the other one and crash. When these forces are
balanced, the object is always falling into the planet, but because it's moving sideways fast enough,
it never hits the planet.
Escape velocity is the speed an object must go to break free from a planet?s gravity and enter into
orbit. Escape velocity depends on the mass of the planet. Each planet has a different escape velocity.
The object?s distance from the planet?s center is also important. The escape velocity from the Earth

In Monsoon–2004, severe flood situations in the States of Assam and Bihar caused major

Television Without Cable Or Satellite Subscription Can...
Figuring out how to watch TV without a cable or satellite subscription can leave you feeling
overwhelmed. When my wife and I cut the cord, we went back and forth for weeks on the decision.
Ultimately, it was the best thing we ever did for our family.
We are saving thousands, and watching quality shows we enjoy without all of the garbage television
shows that comes with a cable bundle. Don't think we're missing out without cable TV.We watch the
current seasons of hit shows like "Game of Thrones", "The Walking Dead", and "Better Call Saul".
Watching sports without cable is easy. And most importantly, the kids are satisfied with all the
content available on Amazon Prime.
I know you'll be happy when you call the cable company and cut the cord once and for all, but I
wanted to share some tips and tricks that may make this decision easier.
Keep a TV Journal
Don't rack your brain trying to figure out everything your family watches. Simply write is down in a
journal. Hand everyone a small notebook and when they watch a show record the show title and
network in the notebook. This will give you an idea of your families viewing habits and let you
know which are the most watch networks.
Many will be surprised to find that 80–90% of the shows they watch are on NBC, CBS, ABC, and
FOX. Those broadcast networks are free using an over the air antenna. If you aren't close enough to
the towers, you can watch these networks online through Hulu+ and CBS All Access.

New Pricing Strategies For East Cleveland Cable Tv
New Pricing Strategies for East Cleveland Cable TV
If we plan on being the provider of choice for cable services in East Cleveland, then we need to start
planning pricing strategies for East Cleveland Cable TV. We offer the same services in the area as
our competitors AT&T Uverse, Direct TV, Dish, and Time Warner, but re–setting our prices will
draw new customers and keep current resident cable services (Kotler & Keller, 2012 pg.389). We do
not want to attract customers just for a period of time for promotional and discount prices, however;
our prices should be attractive without adding promotions and discounts.
Selecting A New Pricing Package for Cable Services:
Revisiting our pricing will help our cable company survive intense competition with our competitors
(Kotler & Keller, 2012, pg.389). Cleveland is a large city within Ohio whereas East Cleveland is a
just a small fraction within the city of Cleveland. If we are going to survive and continue to grow as
the main cable service provider for the city locally, we are going to have to increase sales within
East Cleveland. Lower cost for the same services as our competitors will generate higher sales;
maximizing the market share brings a high demand.
Determining Demand:
How we calculate our prices will affect the impact we will have for sales and marketing. We will
have to look at the elasticity demand for our cable service because lowering cost will generate more
total revenues (Kotler & Keller, 2012, pg.392). According

How The And Start Right From The Beginning Here Essay
I'm going to try and start right from the beginning here. When we think of data communication
nowadays, we think of digital information. We live in a world where technology is so abundant, that
we couldn't possibly imagine what life would be like without it. I'm not talking about having to
write letters, or use the telephone exchange, I'm talking about the beginning. Before there was data
communication, there was simply communication. So much about our evolution is unknown, that
we can't simply piece together the entire history of communication, but we as humans today do have
a brief understanding of how our species learnt to communicate, and how this has shaped our world
today. One of the first methods of communication (besides verbal) was paintings. Painting (or
drawing in general) is one of the earliest methods of communication, and is still very prominent to
this day. The act of turning thoughts or ideas into a physical representation develops in humans at a
very young age, and is the main form of communication used by babies up until they can speak. In
my person opinion, painting isn't a the best form of communication today, as writing is far easier to
understand. Painting is useful if you wish to convey your ideas through the use of metaphors, but the
practicality of using it today as a direct method of communication is limited. The next big
advancement in communication was the development of writing. Writing was developed in two
stages. The first forms of writing were

cost the jobs of about 2,800 employees, signal the end of an era in the entertainment industry, the

The Satellite Television Provider, Directv
In the world today, commercials are one of the basic essentials for a product's success. The satellite
television provider, DirecTV uses commercials as means to succeed. DirecTV commercials are
known to target a male audience. In this particular commercial they specifically targets 'manly' men.
The commercial starts off introducing Peyton Manning and Really High Voice Manning. Peyton
Manning owns DirecTV, has a deep voice, and wears a dark sharp suit. Whereas Really High Voice
Manning does not own DirecTV, has a high voice, and wears wrinkled khakis with a white and
yellow striped polo. The commercial further shows each of their lifestyles with and without
DirecTV. Peyton Manning is seen watching the football games through his mobile phone. He
watches in a locker room before a game and on his team bus. On the contrary Really High Voice
Manning is part of a singing barbershop quartet and watches the football games from the gym
locker. The commercial ends with Peyton Manning saying not to be like Really High Voice Manning
and to get DirecTV. Overall, DirecTV approaches an appeal to ethos by using Peyton Manning's
sense of credibility, manliness, and lifestyle to attract their male audience. One of the appeals
towards ethos is Peyton Manning's sense of credibility. Peyton Manning is part of the NFL, National
Football League. He holds a celebrity status among the sports world. Using a famous football player

Analysis Of 2016 At & T
Over the course of 2016 AT&T has found itself at the center of many business and news articles.
However, they are not stories of praise or of the bright future that AT&T faces but yet stories of
concern and challenges that lie ahead for the large world renowned telecommunication company.
Here we will take a deeper dive into the growing concerns of AT&T and form an environmental
analysis of the three most significant factors, in my opinion that AT&T is currently or will face in
the near future.
One of the biggest concerns for AT&T falls into the category of Threat of Substitution and is the
same concern that many other cable companies have and that is the waves and waves of cord cutters
that are consuming TV in a very different manner. We ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That leaves satellite margins at $42 and pushes DirecTV Now margins to slim, or even negative .
The only positive that AT&T can take away from this is that almost every other cable company is
facing the same issues. However, it could prove to be detrimental to one of AT&T's competitive
advantages, differentiated services.
Another looming concern posing a threat to AT&T ties in with the first concern of AT&T's new
cable plan through Direct TV, Direct TV Now and the free streaming feature the service offers.
Federal regulators raised new concerns about AT&T Inc.'s practice of excluding its new DirecTV
Now streaming service from data charges and, for the first time, lobbed similar questions at Verizon
Communications Inc. . Verizon similarly allows customers to stream NFL games from Twitter or its
go90 app without using data. The agency argues the practice could deter consumers from accessing
mobile–video services not affiliated with the carriers, such as those from Netflix Inc. or Hulu, which
is co–owned by Walt Disney Co., Comcast Corp., 21st Century Fox and Time Warner Inc. 21st
Century Fox and News Corp, parent company of The Wall Street Journal, share common ownership
. Both AT&T and Verizon are insistent that allowing customers to steam content without data usage
or charges is beneficial to customer, but most view this practice as a way to diminish competition in

communication where business and industry can transmit data, voice and video around the world

There are two basic types of VSAT networks: Mesh topology networks and star topology networks.
A mesh topology network is a point–to–point network consisting of multiple locations and antennas

larger modem and antenna called a "hub". A hub modem is a more complex unit compared to those
of an individual node and the hub antenna is slightly larger with more power capability (usually 4–

through their interactive television services, satellite internet access, satellite television and audio

subscribers who access their services. For a large organization such as Dish, concrete strategies are
required to push rival firms out of business. This essay will center its focus on the key strategies that
Dish has adopted over the years to remain in business and at the same time gain competitive
advantage. The first key strategy that Dish Corporation has adopted in its quest to gain competitive
advantage over its competitors is putting more emphasis on customer focus. Customer focus in the
latter perspective represents boosting services such as customer care. In the recent years, the firm

Economic Impact Of The Space Race
Economic Impacts of the Space Race By: Kimia
The space race was a competition between the United States and the Soviet Union that occurred
during the Cold War. They competed for dominance in space technology and spaceflight, which
spurred many significant inventions and events. Some of these inventions and events include the
first–ever landing on the moon, the first artificial satellite to be launched into the Earth's orbit, the
establishment of NASA, the invention of the microprocessor computer, the invention of satellite
communication technology, and other direct and indirect impacts. Each of the different events and
inventions that spawned from the space race have had significant impacts on the United States
economy.
After the end of World War II on September 2, 1945, a new era called the Cold War began. The Cold
War was a non–violent state of political and military tension between the democratic and capitalist
United States and the communist Soviet Union: two of the biggest powers of the world at the time.
However, they were drastically different in both economy and politics, allowing rivalry to build up.
They both wanted to become the most powerful nation of the world, and both feared that the other
nation would rise up to become the most powerful nation of the world.
Throughout the Cold War, the US and the Soviet Union, the USSR, tried to outspend and outdo each
other. They looked for any advantage they could get to achieve more attainments than the

A Study On Space Debris

  • 1. A Study On Space Debris MengYun Zeng(1239987) ESS 102 AC Erika Harnett April 14, 2016 Space Debris Probably most people do not know but this is a severe thing that there is more than 170 million space debris floating within 35000 km of Earth and over 29,000 are a size larger than 10cm (ESA). Even a 1–cm debris probably could disable a spacecraft (ESA). What makes this problem worse is space debris also crash into each other and create hundred more pieces each time and this chain reaction will create a dense cloud of space debris in certain orbits so anything cannot traverse safely (National1). The space debris is a serious problem that needs all the countries and organizations that launched or planning to launch to space to get attention with. If people are still despite the serious consequences caused by the space debris and no countermeasure are taken, the exponential growth of debris creates by the collision "would become too hazardous to continue space operation in low Earth orbit" (Whitehouse). In order to decrease the impacts of space debris, national space agencies and organizations need to devising plans or following some guidelines to cleanup the space debris or at least limiting the future space debris. The following paragraphs will explain what is space debris? Where they come from? Why they caused so many problems? Where they cause problems? Also the potential solutions for cleaning the debris. When we talking about the space junk people may think about the wastes that astronauts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Digital Satellite Communication Systems DIGITAL SATELLITE COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS By Oyudo Richard Chidiebube (Matriculation Number: 110805082) Department of Computer Sciences University of Lagos (Ref: CSC422/2014–15) ABSTRACT Modern wireless communications technology has almost become synonymous with digital satellite communications. It is hence, a key element in the current era of globalization as it has so largely been adopted as a primary means of communication. This paper attempts to investigate modern digital satellite communications providing a progressive transition from a conceptual to a more technical view of the digital communication process through a satellite from one earth terminal to another. INTRODUCTION Satellite communications today, is an integral part of our everyday life and the world at large. From providing in–flight communication in airplanes, GPS navigation systems to even determining long– term patterns and statistical data of the atmosphere for climate monitoring and remote sensing, the importance of satellite communication systems have become invaluable. More applicable to our everyday life, it is used in telephone and television communication systems. Satellites are preferred to other means of communications because they possess features not available in other communication systems. For example, signals can be received and sent over thousands of miles also with an added advantage of its immunity to political and geographical boundaries. The creation and launch of a typical satellite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This allows communication satellites to remain in the same position in relation to the ground. – Inclined orbit: An inclined satellite passes over a different part of the planet each orbit. – Polar orbit: A polar orbit passes over the north and south poles each orbit crossing various places in the equator each orbit. – Elliptical orbit: An elliptical orbit has no specific speed or distance, it depends on the apogee (furthest distance away) and perigee (closest to the surface). The first artificial satellite was Sputnik 1, and satellites have continued to be launched since 1957. Sputnik 1 was a small aluminium ball with four antennas attached, although modern ETI's have more complex bodies they are still designed following the same basic structure. With experimentation, these bodies have been designed to be as strong and light as possible with the same essential uses. There is a platform named a bus inside satellites which has; antennas, solar arrays and payload instruments attached. It also contains batteries, computers and thrusters. Satellites have large panels attached as they have to charge themselves, these arrays can be tilted to allow for the most amount of sunlight possible. • 11. The Space Of Space Exploration Space exploration has opened up so many new aspects to what is really out there and we have accomplished many things in terms of discovery and proof. There are issues involved with space exploration, though, such as space debris, astronaut safety, and the theory of space exploration really being a mission to find an alternative livable space if Earth ever becomes uninhabitable. Understanding the real reasons why we are going to such great lengths to find life in space could change the outlook on our future. For a long time, our endeavors in space exploration were based purely in the name of science. When we made our first accomplishments, we made history. One of our most historical accomplishments was NASA's mission to the moon. Buzz Aldrin was a lunar module pilot on the spaceflight Apollo 11 in 1969. He went alongside Neil Armstrong as the second man in history to step foot on the moon. In his 2013 article in Astronomy, Buzz states, "Looking at Earth from that perspective, everything I knew and loved lay suspended overhead, residing on a small, fragile, bright blue sphere engulfed by the blackness of space" (p.24). This sight that he explained not only changed his perspective, but brought unspeakable awe to humanity's front door and changed our entire view of Earth. From that moment when these men landed on the moon, and we saw our home from that distance, history was made. The successful outcome of this mission opened up a whole new set of possibilities into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Importance Of Space Exploration Human beings have been in space for more than fifty years and produced benefits that improve our quality of life. We take many things in our everyday lives for granted that were a direct result of space exploration. This is not limited to technological advancements, but reflected in art, literature, film, technical innovation, global partnerships, and influenced culture on a global scale. Technology is a part of daily life and Space exploration continues to be the catalyst for advancement. Satellite technology is one example. After many years of satellite use for space exploration, satellite television was introduced. "In 1978, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) introduced Public Television Satellite Service" (Advances in Satellite TV: Changing the Way We Watch Television). Shortly after, direct to home receivers were created (Advances in Satellite TV: Changing the Way We Watch Television). Satellite broadcasting allowed television to be streamed all over the world with stronger more reliable signals. Today most of the global population watches television. Satellites provide the GPS system, which is mainly used as a system of navigation. GPS technology is evolving today enabling things such as autonomous vehicles. These ideas used to be seen as futuristic, but not anymore. In the near future we could see people driving places on what amounts to auto–pilot.. • 21. Reasons for the Decline of the Parallel Cinema Movement in... It is an arduous task to single out one specific reason accountable for the decline of the parallel cinema movement in India. There are numerous inextricable technological as well as economic factors involved. A decade of 1980 to 2000 in India saw radical economic and technological transformations. This was the period when Doordarshan exponentially expanded its network for the upcoming Asian Games in 1982 and colour television took birth. More importantly, this was also the period when the policy of economic liberalisation was launched. The liberalisation policy put an end to Doordarshan's monopoly over broadcasting allowing the entry of satellite television. Shrewd media moguls like Rupert Murdoch and Summer Redstone hastened to get a toehold in an emerging economy that promised to become a burgeoning media market. In 1995, commercial internet came to India, and took off rapidly enough to enable a dot–com boom. Both satellite TV and internet captured the attention of the growing urban middle class eager for more media choice. These technological changes induced by digitisation changed media habits and concurrently transformed and took over both the production and exhibition of cinema. Large number of new players entered in film production and the exhibition of films unlike earlier were not only restricted to theatres but were simultaneously exhibited and promoted by satellite TV and the web. Sudhir Nandgoankar, General Secretary of FFSI says, "The long march of the movement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Race to Space Essay The Race to Space The tension that existed between the U.S. and Russia during the years after WWII was not only a time that both countries patiently tried to keep the world from another war, but was also a time of great rivalry in the exploration of space. As both counties diligently experimented with plans for creating a way to get into the vastness of space, spies on both sides were already in place to steal those ideas. And so the space race begun. Both countries wanted to be the first to succeed so millions were spent as the world watched as the U.S. and Russia went head to head in a battle that would change the world forever. Within a couple days, the Russians announced similar intentions, but the Soviet satellite would be larger than the American one. By mid–1957, the official Soviet press suggested the first launch was months away. Few people in the United States paid much attention to the prediction though. On October 4, 1957, Sputnik lifted off. Sputnik was only in orbit for three weeks, but those who tracked it gained valuable information about the destiny of the upper atmosphere and the manner in which it altered the satellite's orbit. On January 4, 1958, after ninety–two days in orbit, Sputnik I re–entered the Earth's atmosphere and burned up. On November 3, 1957, the USSR launched Sputnik II. It was a much heavier satellite, which carried the first living mammal into space. It was a dog named Laika. Laika died after ten days in space. Because that was the day the world changed forever and there was no turning back. It was the day of the Sputnik launch. Sputnik was a Soviet satellite that orbited in the earth's rotation 500 miles above the earth and traveling at about 18,000 mph. It took approximately 98 minutes for it to rotate the earth which meant it passed the United States seven times a day. This race was known as the space race and it was a very long and twisted path that it bared on its shoulders. Now that after America and the Soviet Union where both partaking in the space race they both had suspicions about each other. Eisenhower, on the other hand, saw satellites as "pointless unless they provided something useful back on Earth" (DeGroot 5). " A spy satellite, on the other hand, could provide accurate pictures of Soviet military capabilities, thus enabling the United States to spend its defense budget wisely, without wasting huge sums on challenging phantom forces" (DeGroot 5). America was worried about the Soviets spying on America because of security issues so America wanted to pursue on building themselves a satellite to "provide accurate pictures of Soviet military capabilities" (DeGroot 5). The only problem was that " Flying over another nation's territory without permission was, however, illegal under international law. What was not clear was whether the law applied to satellites" (DeGroot 5). America and the Soviets were in a battle to see which world power could be the best. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After the launch of the most affordable and the second most powerful rocket of all time, the Falcon Heavy by SpaceX, the subject has been given new life. Following the successful launch, Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX, stated that he wants to start a second space race. Already, his wish has started coming true. After only a week after the first launch, many other companies have already stated their own plans for rocket launches and development. However, throughout all the excitement and speculations, people are forgetting to ask an important question: do we even need another space race? The original space race took place from the estimated years of 1957 all the way through 1975, starting with the launch of the first man made satellite, the Sputnik I, and ending with the Apollo–Soyuz mission, which contained a Soviet cosmonaut and an American astronaut shaking hands in outer space, closing off the space race with a rather symbolic ending. In the 1940s and 1950s cable television had very poor reception until "community antennas" were built on mountain tops or high points. In the late 1950s "distant signals" began to change the focus of cable's role from one of transmitting local broadcast signals to one of providing new programming choices. By 1962 there were around 850,000 subscribers and well known corporate names began investing in the business (NCTA, 2010). In the 70s the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) started to enact regulations that limited the cable operators programming. This is the time that the business aspect of cable television became a part of American history. When the cable companies can regulate what people are able to get for free or at a lower rate, they can charge more for other syndicated programming. From 1984 to 1992 the cable industry forked over more than 15 billion dollars on the wiring of America. This was the largest private construction project since World War II. An artificial satellite is a hand–made machine that orbits the planet earth to help in many different ways in communications, documenting information, sending and receiving signals. A satellite is a moon, planet, or a machine that orbit a planet or a star. There are many types of satellites and each one is used for different reasons. Some satellites are used to send and receive television signals. Some other satellites are used in communications by making it possible to send and receive signals from phones, fax, internet and computers to people all over the world. Other satellites are used in forecasting by giving information about the earth's weather to scientists. Also, there is another type of satellites that take accurate picture of earth to show the environmental situation such as resources, pollution and statistics of crops and water (NOAA, 2014). Satellites improved a lot in the daily life uses such as weather forecasting, documenting information, communication and positioning systems. The idea of satellites The development of the invention started in 1952 when the International Council of Scientific Unions decided to start a project named International Geophysical Year which started on July1, 1957 and ended on December31, 1958. The time it takes a satellite to make one full orbit is called its period. The slope is the angle the orbital plane makes when compared with the Earth's equator. Isaac Newton's First Law of Motion sounds like this any given object there is in motion will stay in motion unless something pushes or pulls on it. Without gravity an Earth–orbiting satellite would go off into space along a straight line. With gravity it is pulled back toward the Earth. There is a constant tug–of–war between the satellites tendency to move in a straight line, or momentum, and the tug of gravity pulling it back. An object's momentum and gravity have to be balanced for an orbit to happen. If the forward momentum of one object is too great, it will speed past the other one and not enter into orbit. If momentum is too small, the object will be pulled into the other one and crash. When these forces are balanced, the object is always falling into the planet, but because it's moving sideways fast enough, it never hits the planet. Escape velocity is the speed an object must go to break free from a planet?s gravity and enter into orbit. Escape velocity depends on the mass of the planet. Each planet has a different escape velocity. The object?s distance from the planet?s center is also important. The escape velocity from the Earth is

  • 52. How The And Start Right From The Beginning Here Essay I'm going to try and start right from the beginning here. When we think of data communication nowadays, we think of digital information. We live in a world where technology is so abundant, that we couldn't possibly imagine what life would be like without it. I'm not talking about having to write letters, or use the telephone exchange, I'm talking about the beginning. Before there was data communication, there was simply communication. So much about our evolution is unknown, that we can't simply piece together the entire history of communication, but we as humans today do have a brief understanding of how our species learnt to communicate, and how this has shaped our world today. One of the first methods of communication (besides verbal) was paintings. Painting (or drawing in general) is one of the earliest methods of communication, and is still very prominent to this day. The act of turning thoughts or ideas into a physical representation develops in humans at a very young age, and is the main form of communication used by babies up until they can speak. In my person opinion, painting isn't a the best form of communication today, as writing is far easier to understand. Painting is useful if you wish to convey your ideas through the use of metaphors, but the practicality of using it today as a direct method of communication is limited. The next big advancement in communication was the development of writing. Writing was developed in two stages. The first forms of writing were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

T1/T3s could be used by NHS to provide reliable, landline–based communications between the rural office locations and a central hub, in turn providing dedicated connectivity to the New York City location. An IXC would be required to provide the long–haul dedicated services between NHS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 60. Analysis Of 2016 At & T Over the course of 2016 AT&T has found itself at the center of many business and news articles. However, they are not stories of praise or of the bright future that AT&T faces but yet stories of concern and challenges that lie ahead for the large world renowned telecommunication company. Here we will take a deeper dive into the growing concerns of AT&T and form an environmental analysis of the three most significant factors, in my opinion that AT&T is currently or will face in the near future. One of the biggest concerns for AT&T falls into the category of Threat of Substitution and is the same concern that many other cable companies have and that is the waves and waves of cord cutters that are consuming TV in a very different manner. The only positive that AT&T can take away from this is that almost every other cable company is facing the same issues. However, it could prove to be detrimental to one of AT&T's competitive advantages, differentiated services. Another looming concern posing a threat to AT&T ties in with the first concern of AT&T's new cable plan through Direct TV, Direct TV Now and the free streaming feature the service offers. Federal regulators raised new concerns about AT&T Inc.'s practice of excluding its new DirecTV Now streaming service from data charges and, for the first time, lobbed similar questions at Verizon Communications Inc. . Verizon similarly allows customers to stream NFL games from Twitter or its go90 app without using data. The agency argues the practice could deter consumers from accessing mobile–video services not affiliated with the carriers, such as those from Netflix Inc. or Hulu, which is co–owned by Walt Disney Co., Comcast Corp., 21st Century Fox and Time Warner Inc. 21st Century Fox and News Corp, parent company of The Wall Street Journal, share common ownership . Both AT&T and Verizon are insistent that allowing customers to steam content without data usage or charges is beneficial to customer, but most view this practice as a way to diminish competition in ... A star topology network is usually a larger network where multiple equipment sets (antennas and modems) are placed in various locations. These geographically dispersed equipment sets are also referred to as nodes. Each node transmits its signal through a satellite to a larger modem and antenna called a "hub". A hub modem is a more complex unit compared to those of an individual node and the hub antenna is slightly larger with more power capability (usually 4– 11 meters in diameter). Some of these inventions and events include the first–ever landing on the moon, the first artificial satellite to be launched into the Earth's orbit, the establishment of NASA, the invention of the microprocessor computer, the invention of satellite communication technology, and other direct and indirect impacts.
