Sme Mergers
It becomes very obvious the geographical location also play a significant role in the merger process,
which was not a factor in the Ole Jacob article. When two colleges are not geographically located such
as mentioned above a much larger problem exists. Research says Rutgers Camden is located in North
Jersey; Rowan University is located in South Jersey. The campuses are roughly half an hour apart by
car (assuming no traffic delays) or between 45 minutes to almost an hour apart by bus . This illustrates
that simply getting students, staff and faculty to and fro between campuses of one merged university
can become an issue that those considering non contiguous geographic mergers will have to face
(Elliot Major, 2001). Another contrast from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Given higher education s current process of reinvention and the history of mergers as part of American
higher education in particular, it is unsurprising that mergers continue to be seen as a way to solve
many of the cost issues facing colleges and universities today. It is also unsurprising that mergers are
growing more complex given the modern university environment s assorted real and intellectual
property, related enterprises, and physical assets. Indeed, many colleges, while not averse to the idea,
are cautious. A final contrasting point which makes the Skodvin, (1999) research more suspect and
less creditable is that laws have changed in recent years which has expanded the reasons why
educational institutions are looking harder at mergers and consolidations. The rational may have been
relevant for a particular segment of educational institutions at a particular time but certainly not

The Benefits Of Social Media In Education
Social media are the most ordinarily used media to connect with the world because of its many
advantages and benefits. Many students are already involved in social networks and using it their daily
activities including educational purposes. Social media have changed the ways of learning and
providing pieces of information on education. It has been used in education nowadays more than ever
and showing beneficial results out of that. Uses of social media are increasing continuously in
education and both students and educators are becoming dependent on it. The reason behind this is, it
is simple to access, effortless to use and easy availability. Among many of the advantages of social
media in education, applying it for communication purposes, sharing class materials, files etc. for
classroom projects as well as uses of QR codes are some of the leading ones.
Defining social media is a tricky task to do because of its constant change (Tess, 2013). Ober and
Wildman have explained that social media involve a vast range of PC and mobile platforms which
continue to develop constantly, launched and re launched, abandoned also ignored daily in countries
all over the world that consist of various forms of communication (Ober Wildman, 2013). Although
Facebook is dominant face of social media (Tess, 2013) and twitter is one of the popular micro
blogging website (Tess, 2013), however in recent times, various social networking sites, blogs, wikis,

NASA Management Failure and the Columbia Space Shuttle...
Introduction The Columbia space shuttle disintegrated on re entry into the Earth s atmosphere in
February of 2003. The astronauts on board had completed a two week mission and were returning
home. The program was halted for the next couple of years while the disaster was investigated. The
Columbia Accident Investigation Board reported on what if found to be the cause of the tragedy. After
take off a piece of insulation foam fell off and hit the external fuel tank and left wing. The damage to
the wing s thermal protection was unknown. On re entry the heat caused the aluminum airframe
structure to melt, causing the explosion. The report listed other factors contributing to this accident
including organizational problems. How NASA presented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They believed Columbia would survive re entry. The mission was allowed to continue. (Disaster,
2008) NASA had made a bad decision. The accident investigation report infers that the engineers
doubts and concerns not being effectively communicated to NASA s management. The wrong
reporting tool was used to convey technical data. Open discussion of concerns was not encouraged
and this resulted in failure to properly investigate issues. Senior executives did not encourage input
from the lower ranking engineers. The engineers saw potential danger from a foam strike to the
Columbia. The minutes and audiotapes of NASA s Mission Management Team reveal little discussion
other than from executives. Concerns regarding the foam impacts affect on the integrity of the orbiter
were quickly refocused to a discussion of how much additional maintenance might now be needed to
prepare Columbia for its next flight. Transcribed and audio evidence showed that many NASA
meetings were inconsistent and ineffective. NASA management meetings were condensed, sometimes
shaving multiple slide engineering analyses down to a single slide. The potential impact of a foam
strike on the orbiter is an example. Sometimes the slides presented would have factual errors or errors
in assumptions that an expanded briefing or technical data may have eliminated. The history of foam
strikes and external tank modifications is an example. Many key NASA

College Education Problems
Why the education system is flawed many students over the years due to the poor support they
provided? The education system in the United States has problems over the years because it has some
flaws of helping students to succeed. Students who attend community college or university will have
issues that will cause them to be in debt or could not complete it. The system tried many ways to bring
students accomplish their degree, but the problem is that students face issues that will affect their goal
of reaching their degree. The system has changed in order to fix some problems; however, the results
make the prices for most colleges so high that not many students could afford. Not many students are
rich because most students are on the benefits from social security or working. Students who need
help are most likely be the ones who will fail at a higher rate of the lack of support from college. Most
colleges are not doing the right job to solve the system; however, they did make some input such as
financial aid and tuition for certain classes. Many college students drop out of school due to problems
exist such as the lack of preparation, lack of globalism language, and financial aid needs.
First, the problem of the education system has enrolled new students that were unprepared in most
colleges. Community college (or four year college) is a school that brought students from high school
to learn advanced education by learning the college basics and focusing on their career.

Sexism In The Joy Luck Club
Throughout history men have been considered superior to women and sexism has always been a large
part of many societies. The divide between women and men drives Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club.
Through a sense of patriarchy, responsibility, and needing to prove oneself worthy, the female
characters in The Joy Luck Club find their experiences to be very different from that of their male
counterparts, demonstrating the despotic sexism of the Chinese culture during the 1940s.
As a patriarchal society, China favored the men over the women, particularly in marriage. At Lindo s
wedding, her husband, Tyan, yanked the scarf off [her] face and smiled at his friends and family, never
even looking at [her] (59), illustrating the clear male hierarchy. The woman doesn t even matter. All
that matters is the husband s success in life and a not becoming a widower. Not only is the woman
subordinate in marriage, but women are also subject to becoming concubines not for love, but because
of the prestige of owning what so many other men wanted (234), showing not only a lack of love and
passion in marriage but also a regard for women as property and a way to sexually pleasure oneself.
There is a complete lack of regard for women and their thoughts, feelings, and opinions. Often the
only way for women to survive, especially those who have been widowed, was to consent to be a man
s concubine because of his enormous wealth (234). If a woman did not have a man, husband or
otherwise, to take care

Congress to the second Round Table Conference. The conference was organized by the British
Government to discuss constitutional reforms in India because of increasing demands for swaraj.
However, there were no substantial results regarding India s constitutional future that was achieved at

Medieval Themes Reflected in Modern Literature and Movies...
The common themes often presented in tales of the Medieval times still make appearances in the films
and literature that are popular among our society today. The book The Kindness of Strangers, written
by Katrina Kittle, and the movie King Kong, directed by Peter Jackson, are two examples that portray
many known characteristics of the times of King Arthur, such as honor, chivalry, loyalty, and bravery.
The legend of King Arthur revolves around the Knights Code of Chivalry. Although there was not an
official Code of Chivalry, there were a multitude of well known ideals that all knights were to
represent. It was a system of morals that introduced certain qualities idealized outside of battle

The Impact on a Student s Performance from a Highly...
INTRODUCTION
Consider a student running so swiftly from boarding house to school for his/her class. And in the time
that he/she is right there in front of the door, the teacher welcome him with an eyes wide open and
uttered, Did I ever fail to tell you not to enter my class if you are late even in a single minute? And the
pitiful student left with nothing but a teary eyes. As you put your shoe to the students situation, what
would you feel? Will you feel discouraged or will you take it as a challenge not to be late again?
Supporting to that, this paper aims to appeal who are these teachers are and their effectiveness on
enhancing the students learning, the pros and cons of a high standard teacher, and the feedbacks of the
students once handled by a high standard teacher. To implement this study, the method to be used is by
interviewing some students once handled by a high standard teacher. We will know how and what do
they think and feel whenever these teachers enter to the classroom and how these happenings affect
their performance on that particular subject. Education is considered as learning itself. In education, a
teacher has its own way to make it profound, realistic, and a peculiar one. This may vary from person
to person or from teacher to teacher. Moreover, learning is a two way process. There is an interaction
between the educator and the learner. In every learning condition, you have to consider the barriers
also, and such barriers includes high

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Throughout history, Shakespeare has been given credit for the popularizing of tragedies, causing a
tragic hero to be seen as a reputable character. In Shakespeare s story Romeo and Juliet, two ill fated
lovers are caught between the bitter hatred of their two families. Knowing their parents would never
approve, Romeo and Juliet struggle to keep their love a secret. Though the story ends in what most
people would view as a tragedy, Romeo fails to meet the characteristics of a tragic hero established by
Aristotle, who first created the literary term. There are five distinguishing characteristics of a tragic
hero identified by Aristotle: noble birth, a flaw resulting in the character s eventual downfall, a
reversal of fate caused by the flaw, an increase in self awareness, and withdrawing a feeling of pity
from the audience. Romeo is born of a noble birth and has a major flaw that will cause his eventual
unfortunate fate, but he never achieves a greater sense of self awareness. In conjunction with not
enhancing his own self awareness, he also does not inspire the audience to feel sympathy for him.
When Shakespeare introduces the story of Romeo and Juliet, he gives the impression that Romeo will
develope into a perfect tragic hero. In the opening line of the prologue, the Montagues are described as
a wealthy and powerful family, Two households, both alike in dignity (1.Prologue.1). Romeo s noble
birth remains unknown until the Capulets bawl, at which Capulet explains to

Dawson Mcallister Gender Stereotypes
Gender Stereotypes The issue of gender stereotypes is a complex one. When people think about this
problem, they think that men and women have to have certain roles in society. The gender stereotype
that women are more emotional than men is a very common gender stereotype that is a problem in our
society. This stereotype was most common around 1952, yet the stereotype still occurs today through
the media. Judging a women to be the more emotional gender is bad for society because it shapes the
woman into being that stereotype. Even though the stereotype that women are more emotional than
men is often portrayed through society and the media, men are just as emotional as women. In
particular, men can get more emotional than women after a breakup. ... Show more content on

This stereotype is presented in The Hopeline by Dawson McAllister who writes about how and why
women are more emotional than men. The article states, Women are more prone to talk about what
they are thinking and feeling, and to demonstrate how they are feeling with their tears, facial
expressions, hand gestures, and body language (McAllister 8). After taking time to analyze the
evidence, McAllister is false because even though women often show their emotions, men are more
emotional deep down, but are not willing to show it. According to Elite Daily by Paul Hudson, he
states that, In this study, conducted by neurologists at Mindlab, men are actually much more sensitive
than women when it comes to being presented with emotional stimuli... Boys are taught to be ashamed
of the emotions that they experience, so they grow into men who are both emotional confused and in
denial... Don t cry. Don t pout. Don t complain Be a man an emotionless, stubborn man (Hudson 13).
As can be seen in the evidence, men have a bigger reaction to stimuli. Furthermore, while men are
taught to hide their feelings, women are taught to share their emotions with others, and this causes
men to tend to be more emotional. In conclusion, men are just as, sometimes more, emotional than
women, but they hide their emotions

The Greed of Music Industry Executives and Declining Record Sales
The music recording industry is in trouble. For several years now, sales of new and popular music
have steadily declined and show no sign of changing. The record companies are quick to blame the
growing popularity of the Internet; music is being traded in a digital form online, often anonymously,
with the use of file sharing programs such as Morpheus, KaZaA, and Imesh, to name a few. The RIAA

Not only are the companies themselves facing hard times, but the retail stores that sell music are also

This reflection begins at Guy s Hospital in London while she was studying forensics. Anil meets and
is sedately struck by a Sri Lanken medical student, who seemly arrives in the way a circus arrives. The
only time when as Anil describes he turned up from Sri Lanka in bangles and stilts (Ondaatje 142). It
had been the only time where she felt wanted by him. He had focused all of his attention on her, which
she liked, while it lasted. Throughout Anil s struggles, this was a breaking point. It was the the part of
her life that affected her the most surrounding the various discoveries she has made. In the story her
strong feelings of who and who not to trust are shown later on in the novel.
Anil s life takes her to Colombo where her work has her partnered with Sarath Diaysena. He has been
asked by the government to help Anil identify skeletons. Her interactions with Sarath create questions
of trust in her mind. Anil becomes suspicious of Sarath after a discussion with his landlord about
Sarath s wife. Sarath explained that his marriage had ended in tragedy with his wife s death. As Sarath
uncovers mysteries that are a result of violence, more mysteries cloud around his personal life. From
experience, part of his distrusting and odd behavior came from the unexpected death of his beloved
wife, who also held a small secret. At the time of the erupting conflicts, she committed suicide.

Essay on Frank Darabont s The Shawshank Redemption
Frank Darabont s The Shawshank Redemption The movie the Shawshank Redemption, based on the
book by Steven King, I believe is one of the best movies ever made. The portrayal of prison life in the
movie is the best I have seen and a star studded cast including Morgan Freeman supports the
characters and brings to life the everyday struggles of life behind bars. In this paper I will relate topics
from class to the movie and discuss information we have learned through out the semester. One of the
best things about this movie is its portrayal of prison life. There are many movies that deal with prison
and the life of prisoners while incarcerated, but Shawshank I feel does the best job of giving you a real
feeling of what prison life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film the inmates used cigarettes as money, a way to get things in the prison, a feat that seemed
easily accessible in Shawshank at the time, due to the guards taking bribes from delivery drivers and
the inmates themselves. It seemed to me that all of Shawshank was corrupt in its ways. In prison there
are different levels of confinement and this was shown to play a big part in the prisoners life at
Shawshank. If you were caught in the act of doing something against the rules or in Andy s case,
standing up to the warden, you were sent to solitarily confinement for a period of time. In the movie
Andy spent two months in solitary with only bread and water to survive. This to me is a hell of a way
to get what you want out of the inmates but some have nothing to lose so even solitary does not break
them. One of the subjects that the film deals with is the idea of institutionalization. The idea that
inmates that have spent so many years behind bars that they can no longer function in a free society. I
can only imagine how difficult it would be to one day have to get yourself up out of bed, make
yourself some food, and go to work in a society that has passed you by. After forty or fifty years of
inmate life you become depended on the prison it becomes your world, your security. The example of
this in the movie is

Hinduism Religious Text
Hinduism, Religious Texts and the Afterlife Hinduism s sacred texts are known as the Vedas which are
comprised of four ancient books written from 1200 BC to 100 AD. These Vedas are the Rig Veda,
Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and the Atharva Veda. Over time these books have been extended by other
texts known as Brahmanas, Aranyakas and Upanishads. Other texts include the epics: Ramayana and
the Mahabharata, as well as the Puranas or the history of the universe. The Puranas were designed for
and used by the average Hindu (Hinduism Sacred Texts). The earliest book is the Rig Veda, which is

One is supposed to conduct these rituals accordingly or will be punished in the afterlife. Shushan
explains, those who fail to burn plants after placing them on the alter to Yama will, in the afterlife, be
bound by the neck and dragged by those plants (205). However, this works both ways for the ones
conducting the rituals and sacrifices. One is rewarded for the sacrifices made in life in the afterlife.
Once again this is explained, If a cow is sacrificed it is there to be milked in Svargaloka (Shushan
205). Svargaloka is a realm of heaven. The Atharva Veda contains more detailed descritptions of
Svargaloka and really points out the distinct differences between Yamaloka, Svargaloka and Naraka.
Unlike the Rig Veda, the dead ascend through darkness in beams of light while being raised upwards
by gods of storm known as Maruts. The sinners, or moral transgressors, are met with lightning from
Yama s dogs, (Shyama and Shybala), while heading to the hell realms known as Paravatas. Once the
transgressors arrive they are met by evil terrors and the immortals are said to be sitting in a river

A Day At the Fair
A Day At the Fair Personal Narrative
It is Thursday, August 24th, the opening day of the Minnesota State Fair. I am here with my family, a
friend and his mom, and one of my sister s friends. It seems so long since last year s fair. I always look
forward to the state fair, even though it s pretty much the same every year.
We park at the same man s house every year. His house is right behind the mini donut stand on
midway parkway, across the street from the main gate. As we pull into his driveway, I feel a pang of
excitement run through me, and when I get out, I can smell it. The smell is familiar, distinctive. When
the telltale aroma wafts into my nostrils, I remember why come to this thing every year. We walk over

sides of the stage because you can t see the stage from the bleachers. There is a race every Labor Day,
the last day of the fair. You can hear the cars from all over the fairgrounds and it gets really, really
annoying after a while. Some artists appearing this year include Christina Aguilera, Goo Goo Dolls,
and Weird Al Yankovic. I plan on seeing Weird Al on Sunday.
The part of the Grandstand that we are going to now is the main building. It consists of two floors of

Chartres Cathedral Analysis
Chartres Cathedral
Chartres Cathedral is one of the most significant achievements of all the historical architecture.
Additionally, it is entirely preserved with its original details. The unique features of the cathedral are
intact, and thus when one visits the place, he or she is likely to encounter the authentic architecture
work as it was done many years ago. Chartres Cathedral symbolizes an atmosphere of awe and
holiness (Katzenellenbogen, 2). As such, it was built for religious purposes. However, it attracts the
nonbelievers as well. As a holy building, it has many glass windows to light the building. Due to its
height, a double flying buttresses is used to support the high nave. The cathedral was the first building
in history that used buttresses since it was considered as necessary for the peoples culture and as a
sign of authority. It was built to reflect a symbol of power since the religious leaders engaged in
politics too. The cathedral has many statuses that represent the Biblical aspects such as Elijah, Isaiah,
John the Baptist, Jeremiah, and Simeon (Katzenellenbogen, 9). The standings portray the Christian
faith that was used by the architectures while building the cathedral. The interior floor stands thirty six
meters high and is one hundred and twenty eight meters wide. The sizes show how vital it is and it can
host many peoples who visit for religious functions.

My individual record was also undefeated as well and it was strenuous, to say the least but also
rewarding. Day two we knew was going to be the toughest competition and most stressful. It s that
day that by the end, you know basically what you are competing for. Whether it is for the
championship title or to place overall top ten. All other competition gets done by the end of the second
day and for that to happen means a profusion of matches. The first match of the day was against a very
skillful Alabama team, we won respectfully and geared up for our next match. Giving it all I had was
not enough nor was the whole team s full effort enough to defeat the notorious club team from New
York. The loss was not taken lightly so we moved on knowing we needed to get two consecutive wins
in order to make it in the top 10. At this point in time, I was very anxious to see how strong our team
really is because I really thought we had more in us than what we put out on the mat the last match.
My record was now 4 1 which was looking very impressive. Moving into our next match I had opened
up the first match knowing it was important and I set the tone of the match I would say with a huge
win over a multiple time state champion from the Florida team. My team won that match, meaning
that we were going up against the returning champion team called Young Guns from Pennsylvania.

International Food Festival Sparknotes
The International Food Festival is a graphic novel that was put together by Parvati Nair, Alana
Susbilla, Izabella Gomez, and I. The novel is about an International food festival that takes place in
the united states and to be exactly it takes place in our present day time during Trump s presidency.
The food festival has desserts and dishes from all over the world. The protagonist of the graphic novel
are the international foods who are all nice and respecting of others. While, the antagonist of the
graphic novel are the American foods who believe that they are superior to the international foods.
The international foods stick up to the American foods hate and eventually at the end all of the foods
get eaten. The purpose of the graphic novel was to spread awareness about the amount of racism that
takes place in the United States. The amount of hate crimes in the United States has increased since

Exposure and Behavoiral Therapies
Final Essay
Exposure and Behavioral Therapies
December 12, 2006
In psychotherapy there are many different ways that a therapist can decide how to treat a client. In my
paper I will discuss how Exposure Therapy and Behavioral Therapy work together with a client. I will
focus on the nature of the problem, the process of change, theory in practice, multicultural
considerations, and the types of clients and clinical problems.
The Nature of the Problem: In both Exposure and Behavioral Therapy the main focus is on anxiety.
These anxieties area conditioned response (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.238 264). In Exposure
Therapy and Behavioral Therapy the client avoids situation where there will be confrontation or fear

Multicultural Considerations: Cultural differences may see exposure therapy as worse than the
disorder (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.252). Therapist should show empathy with clients instead of
using terrifying visualization scenes for the client to deal with. In Exposure therapy the therapist s
empathy is used as a more freighting scene. Trauma victims in search of sensitivity, support, and
empowerment are provided more, higher decibel pain. When there is no empathic and caring
relationship between clinician and client, psychotherapy, is not worth doing (Prochaska Norcross,
2005, p. 252). In these therapies the therapist focuses on the behavior or feared stimulus, rather than
deal with feels as much. Feelings of anxiety will be talked about while the client is going through the
process of visualization, and at the end of the visualization to rate where their anxiety is. Strengths
include a collaborative relationship between therapist and client in working toward mutually agreed
upon goals, continual assessment to determine if the techniques are suited to clients unique situation,
assisting clients in learning practical skills, an educational focus, and stress on self management
strategies (Corey. 2005, p.485). With the client and therapist on the same page about how to work
through the anxiety they can determine together would be more productive and helpful for the client.
The therapist also needs to help the client with consequences

Young Goodman Brown Mood
Young Goodman Brown, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a story about a man who ends up losing
his positive vision of all those who he used to look up to because of the wickedness of sin and the way
in which it turns good people bad so abruptly. In the quote above, the message that is being stated is
that the devil himself is not as terrible in its own skin and flesh, but as soon as he takes on the persona
or the body of another being, then the effect of his evil is magnified. However, Young Good Brown
focuses itself on a much deeper concept. In Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown, the elements and
ideas of mood, tempo, theme, and empathy, that arise from a simple, small, yet powerful quote, all
play essential roles in describing the idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goodman discovers that even highly respected people in the town of Salem fall victim to the force of
darkness. However, it is important to analyze that the individuals fall to sinful actions because of the
fact that the real threat of evil is quiet and lurking. In one instance, the second traveler states, sit here
and rest yourself a while; and when you feel like moving again, there is my staff to help you along.
Further proving the point of the way in which evil works, the second traveler, or the devil, never
forces Brown to attend the ceremony that takes place near the end of the short story, he only
encourages him to; however, the reader already knows that Brown intends to attend the ceremony
regardless. So, evil or the devil, simply aid us in doing what is already in our intention to do; though,
the actual action comes from what is already in our hearts to do. This is due in part to the natural
curiosity, again, that comes with being human. Humans are inclined to sin and the seeming less,
harmless, decisions that one makes on a day to day basis add up to dominate our very nature, just like
Brown s small decisions along his journey in the forest lead him to his final destiny. Thus, through a
miniscule, yet powerful quote,

That quote gives you a real sense of the suffering one feels while they are on death row. Although
Capote does not use the same metaphor in In Cold Blood, illness is also a part of the novel. Capote
uses mental heath as a statement when it came to Perry. Although Capote never comes right out and
says it, both him and Perry seem to have a little bit of mental illness. While Perry showed signs of
mental illness before the murders, his incarceration also seems to intensify it. Perry was diagnosed
with schizophrenia and extreme paranoia. With death constantly looming over his head, the paranoid
thoughts he suffered from continued and became more prevalent. Since 1983, over 60 people with
mental illness or retardation have been executed in the United States. It is also known that mental
illness increases thirty percent when in incarceration. In both novels the criminals were put to death in
inhumane ways. In The Last Day of a Condemned Man, the man is put to death by the guillotine, and
in In Cold Blood, hanging killed both Perry and Dick. While the guillotine was a new, and more
accurate way of killing than the axe, it still did not always work. Also, the beheading was done out in

Endagerment of the Black Rhino
Endangerment of the Black Rhino The first thought that comes to mind when a person mentions a
rhinoceros is that they are huge and nearly indestructible; however, this is not the case at all. The
population of the black rhinoceros and other rhinoceros in general is quickly diminishing due to
poaching and habitat destruction. In Kenya alone, the population has gone from 20,000 to less than
600. Their species is classified overall as critically endangered while the subspecies of Western Black
Rhinos has been declared extinct. The species is slowly disappearing and we need to do what we can
to save them before they re all gone. The Black rhinoceros or hook lipped rhinoceros is separated from
the white rhinoceros by their pointed or hooked upper lip that is used for feeding. The black
rhinoceros has two horns and although it is named the black rhino its colors range from a dark yellow
brown to a gray color. An adult usually weighs 1,800 to 3,100 lbs. but they have been reported as
weighing up to as much as 6,400 lbs. They can stand up to about 6 feet tall and be as long as 9 12 feet
not counting an average 2 foot tail. The longer of their two horns is typically about 20 inches but some
have been known to grow up to almost 5 feet. These horns have many purposes such as intimidation,
defense, and feeding. They have thick and durable skin designed to protect against the harsh
environments they live in. Adult black rhinos are generally solitary creatures with only mothers and

Food Allergies And Food Intolerances
Do you remember your days of trying to fit into the typical student stereotype during school just to be
accepted by your classmates? Now imagine yourself with a life threatening condition that must be
treated immediately and left untreated could lead to death within a matter of minutes. Children with
food allergies are constantly at risk for a life threatening reaction. Food allergies are caused by
abnormal immunological responses to a food, whereas food intolerances have a non immunological
basis (Begen). Food allergies and intolerances are classified as a food hypersensitivity where
individuals who suffer reproducible, objective symptoms whenever they eat a particular food (Begen).
The symptoms of food allergies and intolerances differ by their severity. Food allergy symptoms
include: anaphylaxis, digestive problems, hives, rashes, and swollen airways to the point of not being
able to breathe. Food intolerance symptoms are generally delayed, in comparison to food allergies,
and include the following: diarrhea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, cramping and pain in the abdomen.
Food allergies can affect a person s everyday life, more than you can think. Besides the physical
aspect, there is a social aspect to having a food allergy. It can affect a person through having to eat
different foods, sit at a different table, or being excluded from an event due to the severity of their

Immanuel Kant s Formalism Theory
Kant s Formalism Theory The theories of Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher, have had an impact
on the formulation and shaping of ethics today. Immanuel Kant graced this earth from 1724 to 1804.
During his eighty year life time, he formulated many interesting ideas regarding ethical conduct and
motivation. Kant is strictly a non consequentialist philosopher, which means that he believes that a
person s choices should have nothing to do with the desired outcome, but instead mankind simply
goes about doing good because it is morally correct. Kant theorizes that moral reasoning is not based
on factual knowledge and that reason by itself can reveal the basic principles of morality. Ideas

If you want to reach a specific goal, then you will accomplish these tasks. On the other hand,
categorical laws apply to everyone. Regardless of goals or desired outcome, the categorical imperative
commands unconditionally. (Shaw, 67) Kant developed another idea which exemplifies that of the
categorical imperative. The principle of universal acceptability states that as rational, moral beings,
individuals are bound by logic and its demands. Because logic is consistent, individuals all live by the
same moral law. in order to determine whether a rule is a moral law, we can thus ask if the rule
commands would be acceptable to all rational beings acting rationally. (Shaw, 67) Kant s view of
universal acceptability appears to be intertwined with echoes of the golden rule. Another famous
theory developed by Kant further explaining the categorical imperative is the idea of humanity as an
end and never merely as a means. Individuals should never treat someone a special way in an effort to
get gain. In other words, Kant developed the theory we hear in nursery school of, treat others as you
would like to be treated. Logically, this theory states that rational beings recognize their worth and the
worth of others. As a rational thinker, one would not want to be used as a means to an end. Immanuel
Kant s formalism theory poses many compelling and interesting points of view. On the surface, the
categorical imperative seems to be a great measuring device

As the book opens, we have Wes remembering a day that he and his older sister, Nikki, were playing a

very upset because Wes had hit a girl , and sent him to his room.
Wes father calmed Joy down by saying that Wes didn t know what punching a girl like that meant.
Wes father went up to speak to Wes about his behavior. As he knocked on the door and entered, he
calls Wes his Main Man. The author went on to say that the memory of his father, named Westley,
speaking to him after he had punched his sister, was only one of two memories he had of his father.
The other memory was him watching his dad die. Westley had not been feeling well, and eventually
drove himself to the hospital. The hospital staff did not know what to make of his symptoms, so for
his sore throat, they numbed it for him to relieve the pain, and sent him home to rest. Later he
collapsed and passed away from an acute epiglottitis. His death affected his entire family.
Wes spoke about how his mother, Joy, had emigrated to the U.S from Jamaica and had to learn how to
fit in with the other kids and society. We were given a history of her two husbands, Bill, and Westley.

Questions On Long Tail Keywords Long Essay
Long tail keywords Long tail keywords are those three and four keyword phrases which are very, very
specific to whatever you are selling. You see, whenever a customer uses a highly specific search
phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy. In virtually every case,
such very specific searches are far more likely to convert to sales than general generic searches that
tend to be geared more toward the type of research that consumers typically do prior to making a
buying decision. To help illustrate this phenomenon, let s take a look at the typical step by step buying
path that a customer travels on the way to a making a purchase. 1.Consumer becomes aware of a
product. 2.Consumer seeks information about that product in preparation for possible purchase.
3.Consumer evaluates alternatives to product (features, pricing, etc...). 4.Consumer makes their
purchase decision. 5.Consumer pulls out their credit card and completes the transaction. 6.Consumer
then evaluates the product after buying it and decides if they want to keep or return it. Using the above
six step path to a purchase as our model, you can probably already see that you want to target the
consumer who is somewhere around step four... Consumer makes their purchase decision. Because
once they have made their decision to buy something, that s when they start using very specific search
phrases to seek out their target purchase. Highly specific multi word phrases tend to be far

The Business Environment At Canadian Shield Insurance
The business environment at Canadian Shield Insurance suggests that it belongs to the Responsive
Solution Providers group in the Accenture IT Governance Model, which is characterized by a more
rapid rate of change and competitive advantage derived from operational efficiency. The insurance
industry constantly has to adjust to new government regulations and stipulations that affect many
business processes and systems. One major issue with the current ALPHA system is the complexity
involved in making modifications to the system whenever new regulations were put into place. In
addition, the sustainability for Canadian insurance companies [is] greatly depended on investments in
projects that increased customer service and improved operational efficiency (Stacey). Insurance
companies can gain competitive advantages over others by being efficiently superior, having a lower
cost structure, and providing better service to customers. Seamus believes that a new information
system will be essential to helping the company achieve this. Unfortunately, the new internal
information system, ISS, had already consumed an immense amount of time and money, making
decisions going forward that much more challenging. Decision Rights Seamus holds some of
responsibility of making a decision regarding Canadian Shield s IT system options, but also shares
decision rights with the head office (Assurance Centrale) since they have invested in Canadian Shield
s IS team to develop a enterprise wide

Analysis Of The Movie Man On Wire
The movie, Man on Wire is a documentary about wire walker, Philippe Petit, who proves his
impossible, yet inspiring dream above the clouds between the World Trade Center s Twin Towers was
indeed possible. During this documentary, Petit magically walked and danced across a wire, leaving
the audience filled with suspense and extremely sweaty palms. This project, completed by James
Marsh, was truly a job well done, because of the way he has Petit narrate the documentary and how he
recounts the events that unfold. This film kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time because of
the way the events were revealed by cross cutting between flashbacks that explain to the audience a
little about what is going on, rushing towards the unfolding of the morning before the adventure.
Supplemental to the vast amount of historical footage in the film, Marsh uses several aesthetics of
realism such as voiceovers, on camera interviews, textual information on screen to display facts, mise
en scene, handheld cameras, natural lighting, existing footage, real people and diegetic sounds.
Throughout the film, the filmmaker s obvious goal is not only about telling a story about a man, but
more significantly about an overall attitude towards life that refuses to acknowledge limits and
boundaries. James Marsh tells this amazing and brave story using film techniques like existing
images, on camera interviewing, real people, and mise en scene that create a truth about the world; a
world where everything

  • 2. Sme Mergers It becomes very obvious the geographical location also play a significant role in the merger process, which was not a factor in the Ole Jacob article. When two colleges are not geographically located such as mentioned above a much larger problem exists. Research says Rutgers Camden is located in North Jersey; Rowan University is located in South Jersey. The campuses are roughly half an hour apart by car (assuming no traffic delays) or between 45 minutes to almost an hour apart by bus . This illustrates that simply getting students, staff and faculty to and fro between campuses of one merged university can become an issue that those considering non contiguous geographic mergers will have to face (Elliot Major, 2001). Given higher education s current process of reinvention and the history of mergers as part of American higher education in particular, it is unsurprising that mergers continue to be seen as a way to solve many of the cost issues facing colleges and universities today. Indeed, many colleges, while not averse to the idea, are cautious. A final contrasting point which makes the Skodvin, (1999) research more suspect and less creditable is that laws have changed in recent years which has expanded the reasons why educational institutions are looking harder at mergers and consolidations. The divide between women and men drives Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club. • 11. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Throughout history, Shakespeare has been given credit for the popularizing of tragedies, causing a tragic hero to be seen as a reputable character. In Shakespeare s story Romeo and Juliet, two ill fated lovers are caught between the bitter hatred of their two families. Knowing their parents would never approve, Romeo and Juliet struggle to keep their love a secret. Though the story ends in what most people would view as a tragedy, Romeo fails to meet the characteristics of a tragic hero established by Aristotle, who first created the literary term. There are five distinguishing characteristics of a tragic hero identified by Aristotle: noble birth, a flaw resulting in the character s eventual downfall, a reversal of fate caused by the flaw, an increase in self awareness, and withdrawing a feeling of pity from the audience. Romeo is born of a noble birth and has a major flaw that will cause his eventual unfortunate fate, but he never achieves a greater sense of self awareness. In conjunction with not enhancing his own self awareness, he also does not inspire the audience to feel sympathy for him. When Shakespeare introduces the story of Romeo and Juliet, he gives the impression that Romeo will develope into a perfect tragic hero. In the opening line of the prologue, the Montagues are described as a wealthy and powerful family, Two households, both alike in dignity (1.Prologue.1). When people think about this problem, they think that men and women have to have certain roles in society. The gender stereotype that women are more emotional than men is a very common gender stereotype that is a problem in our society. This stereotype was most common around 1952, yet the stereotype still occurs today through the media. Judging a women to be the more emotional gender is bad for society because it shapes the woman into being that stereotype. The article states, Women are more prone to talk about what they are thinking and feeling, and to demonstrate how they are feeling with their tears, facial expressions, hand gestures, and body language (McAllister 8). After taking time to analyze the evidence, McAllister is false because even though women often show their emotions, men are more emotional deep down, but are not willing to show it. According to Elite Daily by Paul Hudson, he states that, In this study, conducted by neurologists at Mindlab, men are actually much more sensitive than women when it comes to being presented with emotional stimuli... Boys are taught to be ashamed of the emotions that they experience, so they grow into men who are both emotional confused and in denial... Don t cry. Don t pout. Don t complain Be a man an emotionless, stubborn man (Hudson 13). As can be seen in the evidence, men have a bigger reaction to stimuli. In this paper I will relate topics from class to the movie and discuss information we have learned through out the semester. One of the best things about this movie is its portrayal of prison life. There are many movies that deal with prison and the life of prisoners while incarcerated, but Shawshank I feel does the best job of giving you a real feeling of what prison life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the film the inmates used cigarettes as money, a way to get things in the prison, a feat that seemed easily accessible in Shawshank at the time, due to the guards taking bribes from delivery drivers and the inmates themselves. It seemed to me that all of Shawshank was corrupt in its ways. In prison there are different levels of confinement and this was shown to play a big part in the prisoners life at Shawshank. If you were caught in the act of doing something against the rules or in Andy s case, standing up to the warden, you were sent to solitarily confinement for a period of time. In the movie Andy spent two months in solitary with only bread and water to survive. This to me is a hell of a way to get what you want out of the inmates but some have nothing to lose so even solitary does not break them. One of the subjects that the film deals with is the idea of institutionalization. The idea that inmates that have spent so many years behind bars that they can no longer function in a free society. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to one day have to get yourself up out of bed, make yourself some food, and go to work in a society that has passed you by. After forty or fifty years of inmate life you become depended on the prison it becomes your world, your security. The example of this in the movie is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once again this is explained, If a cow is sacrificed it is there to be milked in Svargaloka (Shushan 205). Svargaloka is a realm of heaven. The Atharva Veda contains more detailed descritptions of Svargaloka and really points out the distinct differences between Yamaloka, Svargaloka and Naraka. Young Goodman Brown Mood Young Goodman Brown, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a story about a man who ends up losing his positive vision of all those who he used to look up to because of the wickedness of sin and the way in which it turns good people bad so abruptly. In the quote above, the message that is being stated is that the devil himself is not as terrible in its own skin and flesh, but as soon as he takes on the persona or the body of another being, then the effect of his evil is magnified. Further proving the point of the way in which evil works, the second traveler, or the devil, never forces Brown to attend the ceremony that takes place near the end of the short story, he only encourages him to; however, the reader already knows that Brown intends to attend the ceremony regardless. So, evil or the devil, simply aid us in doing what is already in our intention to do; though, the actual action comes from what is already in our hearts to do. This is due in part to the natural curiosity, again, that comes with being human. While Perry showed signs of mental illness before the murders, his incarceration also seems to intensify it. Perry was diagnosed with schizophrenia and extreme paranoia. With death constantly looming over his head, the paranoid thoughts he suffered from continued and became more prevalent. Kant is strictly a non consequentialist philosopher, which means that he believes that a person s choices should have nothing to do with the desired outcome, but instead mankind simply goes about doing good because it is morally correct. Regardless of goals or desired outcome, the categorical imperative commands unconditionally. (Shaw, 67) Kant developed another idea which exemplifies that of the categorical imperative. The principle of universal acceptability states that as rational, moral beings, individuals are bound by logic and its demands. Because logic is consistent, individuals all live by the same moral law. in order to determine whether a rule is a moral law, we can thus ask if the rule commands would be acceptable to all rational beings acting rationally. (Shaw, 67) Kant s view of universal acceptability appears to be intertwined with echoes of the golden rule. Another famous theory developed by Kant further explaining the categorical imperative is the idea of humanity as an end and never merely as a means. Individuals should never treat someone a special way in an effort to get gain. In other words, Kant developed the theory we hear in nursery school of, treat others as you would like to be treated. Wes father calmed Joy down by saying that Wes didn t know what punching a girl like that meant. Wes father went up to speak to Wes about his behavior. You see, whenever a customer uses a highly specific search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy. In virtually every case, such very specific searches are far more likely to convert to sales than general generic searches that tend to be geared more toward the type of research that consumers typically do prior to making a buying decision. To help illustrate this phenomenon, let s take a look at the typical step by step buying path that a customer travels on the way to a making a purchase. 1.Consumer becomes aware of a product. 2.Consumer seeks information about that product in preparation for possible purchase. 3.Consumer evaluates alternatives to product (features, pricing, etc...). 4.Consumer makes their purchase decision. 5.Consumer pulls out their credit card and completes the transaction. 6.Consumer then evaluates the product after buying it and decides if they want to keep or return it. This project, completed by James Marsh, was truly a job well done, because of the way he has Petit narrate the documentary and how he recounts the events that unfold. This film kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time because of the way the events were revealed by cross cutting between flashbacks that explain to the audience a little about what is going on, rushing towards the unfolding of the morning before the adventure. Supplemental to the vast amount of historical footage in the film, Marsh uses several aesthetics of realism such as voiceovers, on camera interviews, textual information on screen to display facts, mise en scene, handheld cameras, natural lighting, existing footage, real people and diegetic sounds. Throughout the film, the filmmaker s obvious goal is not only about telling a story about a man, but more significantly about an overall attitude towards life that refuses to acknowledge limits and boundaries. James Marsh tells this amazing and brave story using film techniques like existing images, on camera interviewing, real people, and mise en scene that create a truth about the world; a world where everything ...
