This document reviews philosophical assumptions in management research. It discusses four domains of epistemic assumptions based on combinations of objectivist or subjectivist ontology and epistemology. Positivism and neo-positivism fall under the domain of objectivist ontology and epistemology, prioritizing methodological reflexivity. Critical theory and pragmatic critical realism involve objectivist ontology and subjectivist epistemology, emphasizing both methodological and epistemic reflexivity. Postmodernism and parts of conventionalism involve subjectivist ontology and epistemology, prioritizing epistemic reflexivity over methodology. Overall, the document argues that management research requires an understanding of underlying philosophical assumptions and the ability to consider both methodological and
