REPORT WRITING
A REPORT ON COLLEGE LIBRARY.
According to the information collected on the visit by our group on 29th
of July to
the college’s library, the following report has been prepared.
The seating arrangement of the library for students to study and read the books.
Name ofLibrary: The name of the library is “Agnel Central Library”. It has been named
after Fr. Agnel.
In-charge of Library: Mrs. G. Jotilakshami. The in-charge deals with the provision and
maintenance of information, including: books, electronic resources, magazines,
newspapers and web-based and digital resources.

o The library is opened at around 8:45 and is open till 6 in the evening.
Lunch Timings: The library does not have official lunch timing but it is adjusted as the
time is available. This is done to cater to the needs of students/staff full time.
The various sections of library which houses a huge amount of books.
Total no. of persons working: There are a total of 6 people handling the functioning of the
library with efficiency. These include – 1 Librarian, 2 Asst. Librarians and 3 peons.
Total no. of books: Print Materials:
No. of Volumes : CRCE: 30,100 ATC: 9,776
No. of Titles : 14060
Book Bank : 602
Technical Journals : 49
Softwares Used: The library uses a fully automated software dedicated to the
maintenance of records. It currently uses the “Libsuite Software” made by a Soft-Aid
based in Pune.

Processof Thesis: The library is very co-operative towards the B.E./M.E. students working
on their thesis. It provides full help in terms of provision of books, reference material
and provides full support for the success of the projects.
Area: The library has an area of 400 sq. m. The total area houses the various sections of
library.
Computersand Printers: The library has a total of 36 computers out of which 32 are for
the Internet Centre and the remaining are for the use of library i.e. for the issuing and
returning of books and for searching online catalogue.
A student issuing a book at library, the computers and the staff of library.
 The computers are useful tool owned by the library to fast forward the process of
issuing/ returning of books.
 The library also has a printer which is used for the printing of documents as and when
needed which can be used by the staff as well as students (with permission).
 It also has Canon Xerox machine which is operated by the staff and can be used by the
students/ staff for Xeroxing of question papers, reference books and other uses.
(Students have to take coupons from the office for the usage of Xerox m/c.)

Annual YearlyBudget: The annual yearly budget of the library is Rs. 25, 00,000/- (Twenty
Five Lakh Rupees). This includes the funds needed for various books.
 Online PublicAccessCatalogue (OPAC):This enables students to reach library books from
any terminal inside the campus.
 Print Subscriptions: Library has subscribed more than 50 referred Journals and technical
magazines, in addition to all leading newspapers, periodicals.
The new arrivals are kept in a different section for easier access.
 E Subscriptions: In addition to hard copy subscriptions, Fr. CRCE library has subscribed to:
1) DELNET (DevelopingLibraryNetwork)underAICTE/DELNET Scheme whichfacilitateslocating
publicationsinotherlibrariesunderthe network.
2) IEEE / IET ElectronicLibrary(IEL)
3) ASME (AmericanSocietyof Mechanical Engineers) l AccesstoE-journals,conferenceproceedings,
magazinesandpublishedstandards.

are developedbyIITandIISCwithfundingsupportfromMHRD.
 Book Bank: Under thisscheme,studentscangettextbooksforthe entire semester.
 InstitutionalMembershipwithIIT,BombayLibrary:Thisenablesstudentsandfacultymembers
of the institute toaccessIITBombay,Library.
 OpenAccess Systeml MultimediaCentre: Multimediafacilitiesare available inside the library
to access technical,educational,generalandmanagementrelatedCDsandDVDs.
The magazines, journals, newspapers and plenty of other material available at the library.
Sections:The various sections of the library are divided according to the various
departments of engineering to facilitate easy search and finding of the books. The
various departments are:
1. Production Engineering, 2. Electronics Engineering, 3. Computer Engineering and 4.
Information Technology.

A student checking out the question papers available at the library.
Rules& Regulationsof Library:
 The students should compulsorily wear their ID cards in the library.
 The students should maintain silence and not disturb the other users of the library.
 The usage of mobile phones is not allowed in the library and is strictly prohibited. If a
student is caught using the mobile phone his/her phone will be confiscated.
 A student of degree is allowed to issue 4 books. The student of diploma can issue 2
books and a student of ITI can issue 1 book. The college staff can issue 27 books.
 The books can also be issued by the school staff.
 The students shall return the book within 8 days of issuing the book failing which a fine
of Re. 1 is applicable for every extra day after the date of return,
 If a student keeps a book issued from the library for the whole semester than he/she
has to pay the total cost of book as fine.
 If a student by any means loses the book issued from the library than he/she has to
provide a new copy of the same book as fine.
