A Brief Look at Bob Marley and the Wailers
Me only have one ambition, y know. I only have one thing I really like to see happen. I like to
see mankind live together Black, White, Chinese, everyone that s all (Bob Marley). Bob Marley s
main goal was to bring people together through his music, and influence everyone he could to
become a better person. Throughout Bob Marleys music career, he didn t know what kind of artist
he wanted to be until later in life, and once he knew what kind of artist he wanted to be, he
reached out to people and made many people enjoy reggae music and really understand the
message in his music, which was not to hate or discriminate because we are all equal.
On February 6, 1945 in Nine mile, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, Norval Sinclair Marley, a
European Jamaican captain of the Royal Marines, and Cedella Malcolm an eighteen year old
African Jamaican, had a baby boy together named Robert Nesta Marley, later known as Bob
Marley, because a Jamaican Passport official reversed his first and middle name. When Norval
and Cedella wanted to get married, Norvals family did not approve. They did not think a Captain
of the Royal Marines should be marrying an African Jamaican woman who was not wealthy, and
could not really do anything with her life. Although Norvals family did not want them to be
married they still got married, but it turns out Norval was not that great of a father or Husband.
As Bob was growing up, his father Norval was barely around, he never got to see Bob grow up.

Sunset Blvd Analysis
From coloring and lighting to music direction and the score, there are many ways for a film s
story to be told. Film noir mirrors its detective pulp book predecessors, where a strong narrative
character is key and the protagonist walks a fine line between hero and villain. The use of voice
over, black and white film, and evocative lighting techniques define the style we know today.
Modern films, such as The Artist (2011) and Sin City (2005), attempt to incorporate these creative
devices, but unlike their predecessors, these techniques don t support and further thematic
developments. In director/screenwriter Billy Wilder s classic features, Double Indemnity (1944)
and Sunset Blvd. (1950), use of voice over narrative, as well of the choice to... Show more content

The ability to color film has been around since the 1920s and in 1939, films like Gone With The
Wind (1939) and The Wizard Of Oz (1939) utilized these processes to create a film spectacle. Film
noir translates to dark film and Sunset Blvd. and Double Indemnity fit that both physically and
thematically. The use of black and white film blurs the lines between good and evil. Without the
use of color to easily distinguish the villains from the heroes, we are unsure of who we can and
cannot trust. The lack of color allows the viewer to focus on content and forces them to
concentrate on what is on screen. It is easier to make color look good on film, as it requires less
work. It is much harder to make color associate with the story. Black and white film requires the
skill of balance between dark and light in a scene. When done correctly, it can become a character
of its own, helping breath life into sets such as Norma s immense mansion. Both films exaggerate
the use of shadows giving the feel of a horror film. Lighting does more than draw focus on a
character. It can be used to showcase the deceitfulness of a character and highlight their sinister
deeds. Lighting can hide the truth from the audience and shroud the plot in mystery. In Sunset
Blvd., Norma is shown in the shadows while she is in her home. During the famous We had

What is Abortion?
As stated in the Merriam Webster Dictionary (2016) and Abortion (/e boar sheen) is the medical
procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause death of the fetus.
Abortions were widely used in the early eighteen hundreds and kept secret due public scrutineer.
Not only were they considered against the law in some places but were risky due to high risk of
infection from unsterile equipment used to perform the actions. Without today s current
technology, maternal and infant mortality rates during childbirth were extraordinarily high.
(National abortion Federation, 2016) as time contained states changed and modified their laws to
accommodate political agendas, these opposed to legal abortion had begun to fight absent any
stated funded abortion clines. Then there was Roe v. Wadethis was the first major Supreme Court
battle based on abortion laws and ethics. Roe v. Wade decision of the courts said that they
considered the constitutionality of a Texas statute made it a crime to obtain an abortion except
when it was necessary to save the life of the mother . (Harris, 2014) There was another Supreme
Court case that changed the views of the courts based on how they judge the frame work of

them making others harm themselves, not stopping no it s harming others, and even taking bullying

How Interest Groups Have On Preserving The Environment
As previously discussed in the lectures and readings, there are many types of interest groups. For
example, chapter three describes the four types of interest groups which are associational,
institutional, non associational, and anomic (Danziger, 72).While identifying various types of
interest groups, including their functions and constraints, this analysis will discuss the impact that
interest groups have on preserving the environmentin Florida. A concluding discussion of the global
commons, which refers to the sharing of the earth s resources (McCoy, Problematique Lecture), will
be used to argue in defense that even though in times of crisis, humanitarian rights must always take
precedence over that of state sovereignty, which refers to the idea that each state has complete
authority and is the ultimate source if law within its own boundaries (Danziger,114). Interests
groups can be many things, such as a group of individuals who focus on preserving the culture of
something or the wellbeing of something. But when talking about that of Political Interest groups,
its definition is then changed into a group of people that share the common objective of attempting
to influence the allocation of public values. But such groups can use a variety of strategies to
achieve this purpose (Danzinger, 69). The difference between
Interest groups and political parties is that a political party, even though still an organization of
people which seeks to achieve goals common

My Personality Type Of Enfj
After answering multiple questions for different situations I was able to obtain information
about my personality. ENFJ is a very unique and has various skill sets that will allow me as
individual to work in multiple roles. Occupations with good interpersonal skills that allow
productive collaboration through any working process. Although this personality can be
challenging it still has many benefits to help build careers successfully. There are many high
rank positions that this particular personality type would be effective in. Some examples are
sales, social services, community care, legal and the list goes on. In all of these roles there are a
broad range of occupations that would fit perfectly based on the personality type. However, the
ultimate focus is to reach their main dreams. Although they may see their selves as helpers or
enablers, this creates the challenge. Throughout the course of years, I tend to find out more about
myself. Every day is challenging and full of many surprises. However, the most challenging thing
in my life is working with other personalities. Only to find myself considered an ENFJ with a

Bookkeeping and Record Keeping Basics
Bookkeeping and Record Keeping Basics
Adapted from content excerpted from the American ExpressВ® OPEN Small Business Network
Proper bookkeeping is important to sustaining and expanding a business. Without it, you run the
risk of hitting cash flow crunches, wasting money, and missing out on opportunities to expand.
When you are devising or revising your bookkeeping routine, remember that the purpose of
bookkeeping is to help you manage your business and to enable tax agencies to evaluate your
business activity. As long as your bookkeeping achieves both of these objectives, it can and should
be as simple as possible.
The general guidelines here outline what you must take care of and provide ideas for how to keep

Keep a log of each category of expense, for tax purposes and write yourself a check for the total.
Write cash reimbursable in your check register to differentiate this from taxable income.
Alternatively, you can keep a petty cash record by writing a check to petty cash and keeping a log
of each expense paid out of petty cash.
Inventory Records
Keeping on top of your inventory records will enable you to prevent pilferage, keep inventory
holdings to a minimum, and track buying trends, among other things.
If you sell a large number of small ticket items for example, as in a stationary store you might
want to use a computer system to track inventory or tie your computer system into your sales by
having a POS (point of sale) inventory system. If you sell larger ticket items you may be able to do
it yourself on paper.
The crucial inventory information you need to capture is: date purchased, stock number of item
purchased, purchase price, date sold, and sale price.
Accounts Receivable
If your products or services are paid for at time of delivery, you will not need an accounts receivable
tracking system. However, if you provide services or products for which people pay you at a
later date, your accounts receivable records keep track of what is owed to you. You can monitor
accounts receivable by holding on to a copy of all invoices sent out or by keeping an accounts
receivable record. Either way, the information you need to capture includes: invoice date,

Compare the Way Poets Present Relationships in The...
Compare the way poets present relationships in The Farmer s Bride and The Manhunt .
In Charlotte Mew s The Farmer s Bride and Simon Armitage s The Manhunt , difficult relationships
are presented by speakers who are dealing with an emotionally closed partner. Both poems explore
how relationships are affected by mental health issues.
In The Farmer s Bride , the Farmer marries a girl without getting to know her. As the marriage
progresses, the wife s mental illness gradually develops at first she turn[s] afraid , until she tries to
run away, and will only speak to animals. This causes the farmer to become jealous, impatient and
possibly mentally unstable. In the fourth stanza, the farmer describes his wife as she is to nature ...

Even though the woman has not been to war herself, she puts in effort to try and understand her
partner s pain. His grazed heart is no longer whole, but not injured to the point of no return the
woman is trying to fix her partner. The word grazed could also represent a physical injuryhowever
the majority of her partner s injuries are buried deep in his mind for example, his Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder, which caused every nerve in his body to [tighten] this reiterates how he is
emotionally closed. The fact that the wounds are buried suggests that they are hidden and harder to
get at. However, in the last line, the woman states that she had come close to rebuilding their
relationship her efforts, although long winded, are working.
Simon Armitage repeats the phrase only then five times throughout The Manhunt . This emphasises
how difficult it is to recover a relationship when your partner has changed in this instance, due to
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He also juxtaposes the phrases passionate nights and intimate days .
This suggests that the love was not just physical but also emotional. The main technique Armitage
uses, however, is imagery to suggest fragility. His collarbone is described as damaged, porcelain
and his punctured lung as parachute silk the silk also suggesting luxury, and the parachute
representative of how he was injured in the army. In the tenth stanza, the bullet in his chest is

Analyzing Daniel Wallace s Big Fish
Big Fish Essay Daniel Wallace s Big Fish is full of difficult topics, including loss of a family
member or loved one. Edward s death hits his family hard, but not in the way one might expect,
seeing as they rarely see him. Though everyone has coping mechanisms to deal with death,
William s is unusual.William only understands his father through the stories he tells, so when
Edward dies, William remembers him through his stories. The stories that Edward recite are the
only way he and his son connect. Even on his deathbed, Edward s stories take the place of
meaningful conversations with his son. But I do take him seriously; this is the problem...Where s
your sense of humor? Give me a break son, I m dying here! (16 Wallace). While his son begs him
for meaningful dialogue, Edward attempts to reconcile himself that he was a good dad. William
never directly answers his father s questioning, instead choosing to smile and close the door. While

Before he began to die, Edward was home so infrequently that his son referred to him as an
itinerant dad. On the occasion that Edward is home, he uses his outlandish tales to teach his
son, but he can only fit his storytelling into the little slots of time he gives himself. The book
itself is proof that William barely knows his father s true nature, seeing as the entire book is told
in eccentric stories that are not within the realm of possibility. On his father s death, William
does not know how to confront Edward s passing, so instead, he turns him into a story. He says
All this time, my father was becoming a fish. I saw him dart this way and that, a silvery, brilliant,
shining life, and disappear into the darkness of the deep (180). By claiming that his father turned

The Age Of Turbulence By Alan Greenspan
After reading The Age of Turbulence by Alan Greenspan, the memoir truly shows the significance
of our economy in the United States. Alan Greenspan, who spent eighteen years as the chairman
of the Federal Reserve, showed great efforts to assure that America didn t experience an economic
disaster. Predicting the economic downturn that became the 1958 recession was my first forecast
of the economy as a whole (47 Greenspan). His mindset was constantly full of ideas that would
make the economy more stimulated. Greenspan explains the history he has in government, other
economic systems, and world issues that greatly affect the economy. He also made sure the rest of
the world would grow in a way to make more opportunities for all. His main... Show more content

The Federal Reserve has many jobs to accomplish such as moderating long term interest rates to
increase investment. When the economy is performing strongly, the Feds will raise interest
rates in order to slow down the economy. This may sound like a bad idea, but in reality it must
be done to ensure that our economy stays in equilibrium. We do not want our economy doing
too well but we do not want it doing too poorly either. When the Feds change the interest rates
the banks that borrow money from the Fed get directly affected because the loaning price of the
money either lowers or rises in response to the interest rates. On the other hand, when the Fed
lowers interest rates, it means the economy is performing poorly. Lowering interest rates makes
money more accessible for the banks to borrow. When the Fed tightens, the stock market tends
to not perform well. While the Fed had no explicit mandate to focus on the stock market, the
effects of the run up in prices seemed to me a legitimate concern (175 Greenspan). To explain,
higher interest rates creates a lower demand for stocks, causing stock prices to fall. Lower interest
rates creates a higher demand for stocks, causing stock prices to rise. When the demand for stocks
fall, the demand for bonds will increase. Interest rates and bond prices are inversely related. This
means that when interest rates rise, the demand for bonds fall. Alan Greenspan had a significant
contribution to why our economy is the way it is

Television programming reflected and animated several qualities of popular historical
consciousness that were new in the 1970s: a newfound interest in the everyday life and experience
of earlier times; a desire to understand the past on empathetic and emotional terms; and an idea of
history and the passage of time as contingent, flexible, and permeable. Although television is often
said to be a primary space for the formation, articulation, and reflection of culture in the United
States, because of the medium s unique relationship with history and temporality (Malgorzata J.

spread nationwide. The desire to understand past culture and the visual representation of our
history is the driving force for popularity for television. American Dad helps depict American
culture, because although American Dad is a sitcom they mention past events and their political
viewpoints are often expressed in episodes of American Dad. Specially, Stan Smith is extremely
controversial and is dead set on keeping terrorists out of America. This was very emotional for
Americans because American Dad came out after 9/11, which is a very touchy subject for millions
of Americans. However, American Dad pushes Americans through their emotional barrier and helps

In February 9, 2005, the TransCanada proposed a pipeline system that would be able to transport
crude oil from Canada into the United States. The pipeline was given the name the Keystone
Pipeline System. Originally, the pipeline was to run from Alberta, Canada to refineries in Illinois.
However, in 2008 another proposition was raised in order to extend the pipeline even further to
down to Texas. The proposition is known as the Keystone XL. The possible construction of the

Firstly, Canada itself is a foreign nation. In the attempt to close our doors to foreign dependency
on oil, we are actually becoming even more dependent on solely one foreign nation. The amount
of oil we will receive from Canada is a substantial amount since it will replace overseas imports
on foreign oil. Instead of being more reliant on our own oil, we are only shifting focus to rely on
another nation that is not in economic or political turmoil. Secondly, the Keystone Pipeline
itself is an export pipeline. Canada will be using the pipeline in order to transport crude oil to
refineries in the Gulf Coast. Once the crude oil reaches the Gulf Coast, refineries will refine the
crude oil into diesel and export it to Europe and Latin America. We will not be dependent on
these countries anymore for their oil, but we will be involved in the importing and exporting of
oil. In fact, this will actually pull the U.S. into a greater involvement with these nations.
According to Oil Change International, the only way that we can actually reduce our dependency
on foreign oil is to reduce our dependency on all oil as a whole. Throughout history, our energy
sources have been constantly changing, from steam, to coal, and now to oil. We are in need of a
new energy source and one that is actually reliable. Once we attain it, we will no longer be
dependent on oil.

Vagina Monologue Script Response
1.Describe the physical world of the play (Answer should be about 200 words):
The physical world in the play is very normal. Given that the monologue is taken from accounts of
various women from all over the world, there is no real thought of the physical world. The play
focuses on the internal emotions and thoughts of a broad spectrum of women, it s hard to really
pinpoint elements such as time, interior, and exterior. I would say that there isn t a constraint for
time, the play thoroughly details the response of several women as they are being questioned about
their anatomy and their feelings towards it. The play transitions from woman to woman and tells
separate stories that all become intertwined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think the author was also trying to debunk the stigma that society has held for centuries, which
teaches that women should be private and repressed about their sexuality and their vaginas.
3.What changes in this world? (Answers should be about 200 words):
The first image in the play details a group of women who are nervous and uncertain about what to
expect when discussing their vaginas. The first image provides the reader with a setting that
presents the women as shy and weary of what the outcome of this conversation is going to be. The
final image is when the author, Eve Ensler, begins to realize that the vagina is similar to the human
heart in many ways, and this helps her come to grips with her previous insecurities. The central
image was when one of the women recounts how a sexual encounter with a man she had relations
with helped her find her confidence and self love for herself and her vagina. The central image
helps bridge the gap that the women had in the beginning of the play and in the finale. The central
image was necessary to connect the first and last images of the play to show the reader that self
love and acceptance are a continuous journey and everyone has a different encounter or experience
that leads them to that realization.
4.What changes in you? (Answers should be about 200 words):
After reading the monologue, I had more of an understanding of the women and their feelings.

Battle Of Britain
The Battle of Britain was an extremely important piece of history that was almost completely
exclusive to air battles between the Royal Air Force and the German Luftwaffe. Luckily for Great
Britain, its air defense system was one of the most effective of its time. Luckily for Germany, the
Luftwaffe contained numbers that were far superior to Great Britain s, in terms of men and also the
amount of planes used in battle and in bombings. The Battle of Britainwas also the first big battle to
use radar on Great Britain s coast to its full potential. One of the biggest attacks planned by Hitler

The Luftwaffe s attacks were one hundred percent focused on their military supplies, but it all
changed when the Royal Air Force launched a retaliatory attack on Berlin, Germany. This
retaliatory attack angered Hitler to the point that he dropped the progress made on the British air
bases and changed his targets of attack to the British cities. These bombings on the British cities
later became known as the London blitz(http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/blitz.htm) and the
biggest city by far that was targeted was London herself. As the weeks went on, London
sustained more and more bombings, of course, the citizens of the British cities suffered
tremendously, being quite powerless. Though this kept taking its toll on Great Britain s citizens
the Royal Air Force had the tension of the attacks on their bases relieved and began its recovery.
The Royal Air Force had time to repair the airfields that were out of commission and severely
damaged. With these repairs completed on the air bases, the Royal Air Force was more than ready
for the next German attack. The attack fleet came soon enough and they came with around one

White Collar Crimes And Street Crimes
Crimes are one of the many things that all humans have in common. Whether it be a serious
crime or not, everyone can commit a crime and go to jail for it. There are two types of crime that
can be considered complete opposites of each other. They are white collar crimes and street
crimes. White collar crimes are considered nonviolent crimes committed by a person of
respectability and high social status in the course of his/her occupation such as fraud,
embezzlement, or bribery. On the other hand, street crimes are any criminal offense in a public

The reducing awareness for these crimes can be seen throughout the whole criminal justice system.
Just because one person committed a crime does not mean the whole company is not a scam or
that someone else is not doing the same. Most of the time it is the one person, but they will not
truly know until they investigate the whole business. The lack of statistics causes a decreasing
amount of awareness of this crime by not having the correct resources to see a trend. The ICCC
or Internet Crime Complaint Center is the current source of statistics regarding white collar
crimes, which primarily rely on victims to report victimization, that aids researchers who have
created estimated figures describing the range of costs associated with these crimes (Martinez).
If a report center relies on people s opinions, then some of the information could be false or
tampered with. If the statistics are relevant and correct, then the agents can look for a pattern in
the numbers to see which crime was the highest and when. Having correct statistics is one way to
reduce the lack of awareness. Another way to reduce it is with the help of NW3C. It is a nonprofit
organization that supports agencies in preventing and investigating economic and high tech crime.
It offers many ways to help better the cooperation and coordination among federal, state, and local
agencies responsible for economic crime. NW3C stands for National White Collar Crime Center.

Wilfred Owen Futility Poem
Poetry invites us into a different world and broadens our understanding of human experiences by
endorsing us with reality. Wilfred Owen s verse undermines the pervasion of ugliness and the
abhorrent physical and emotional consequences of war, stimulating us to witness the
dehumanisation of soldiers in conflict. Thus, revealing war s harsh reality and simultaneously
allowing the responder to learn the human experiences of war. Owen s bitterness in the poem Dulce
et Decorum Est, graphically unfolds the shocking experience of soldiers during a gas attack to
highlight the recurring theme of the horrors of war. Futility displays Owen s despairing voice as
he shares an existential angst, a critical loss of hope. Ultimately, the composers authentic ideas,
forms and language features allow responders to understand the human experiences of the reality of
war, taking us into a world full of mechanised warfare.
The immeasurable horrors of war can only be blinded by the truth of those who haven t seen or
heard of the reality of war. This is exposed by Owen s bitterness in Dulce et Decorum Est , to
broaden responders in understanding the horrific experiences of war and the impacts on ordinary
soldiers. At the beginning of the poem, hyperbolic exaggeration and metaphor emphasise how men
are physically injured, coughing like hags and limped on, blood shod . This enables the responder
to instantly imagine the horrific conditions of the limping progress of soldiers. The dramatic

Logical Fallacies In Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
What Pity Creates What are logical fallacies? Logical fallacies are defects that weaken
arguments. There are many types of logical fallacies such as the appeal to pity. What is the
appeal to pity? The appeal to pity is where an arguer tries to get people to accept a conclusion by
making them feel sorry for someone. In the play Death of a Salesman, playwright Arthur Miller
uses many logical fallacies, the appeal to pity being the most frequently seen throughout the play.
Linda and Willy use frequent appeals to pity when dealing with their eldest son Biff, creating a
dysfunctional and unhealthy relationship. At the beginning of the play Linda and Willy use the

His delusions are starting to take a real toll on the family as a whole. Especially Biff who takes
them the hardest because he cannot ignore them. This is due to the fact that Biff knows more
about the content of Willy s delusions than anyone else in the family does. When Willy was
supposed to have a special night out with his sons, he starts to have one of his many delusions.
Instead of dealing with his father, Biff just got up and left with Happy, his brother right behind
him. Biff and Happy left their father in a restaurant while he was in the middle of one of his
delusions. When Willy finally comes out of his delusion he cannot find either of his sons. That
is when Willy looks up to the waiter and says, But we were supposed to have dinner together,
(Miller Pg. 121 Act 2). When Happy and Biff finally get home later that night they have to face
their mother. Linda is angry and ashamed of both of her sons, especially of her eldest son Biff,
for leaving Willy all alone in the restaurant while he was in the middle of one of his delusions.
Linda believes they treated him worse than they would have treated any other decent human

you desert him there. There s no stranger you d do that too! (Miller Pg. 123 Act 2) Sadly Willy

Essay on The Comparison of Sigmund Freud and B.F. Skinner
The Comparison of Sigmund Freud and B.F. Skinner One name that jumps out at the mention of
psychology, or the study there of, is the name of Sigmund Freud. Sigmund Freud is also known as
the Father of Psychoanalysis. Freud was also known for having the tendency to trace nearly all
psychological problems back to sexual issues. Although only parts of his theory of psychosexual
development are still accepted by mainstream psychologists, Freud s theory of the Oedipal
Complex has become a cultural icon (Freud, Sigmund, 2012). Freud is known for developing the

changing of behavior by the use of reinforcement, either positive or negative, and which these
reinforcements are given after the desired response (About B.F. Skinner, Sept, 2012). Skinner
identified three types of responses or operant that can follow behavior. While behaviorism is no

Analysis of On the Waterfront Essay
On the Waterfront is a classic, award winning and controversial film. It received eight academy
awards in 1954, including best picture and director. The director, Eliza Kazan, in collaboration
with Budd Schulberg wrote the film s screenplay. Based on actual dockside events in Hoboken,
New Jersey, On the Waterfront is a story of a dock worker who tried to overthrow a corrupt
union. Marlon Brando superbly portrays the character of Terry Malloy. He is a young ex prize
fighter, now a dock worker given easy jobs because his brother is the right hand man of the corrupt

Since Kazan believed that communism was an evil threat to the American way of life, he tried
to portray his decision to testify as a heroic act of valor. He wanted to show the public that a
person who testifies is brave, not a coward. Throughout the film there are a number of references
to the code of silence, D n D , or Deaf and Dumb. This means that no matter how wretched the
circumstances are, a person never rats. The union thugs make a joke about the boy pushed off a
building because he threatened to talk to the crime commission, thus breaking the sacred code of
D n D: A canary. Maybe he could sing but he couldn t fly.
Kazan has one character, in particular, stress the importance of speaking out in life. Father Barry
believes that the truth will always set a person free. He says; There s one thing we ve got in this
country and that s ways of fightin back. Gettin facts to the public. Testifying for what you know is
right and what you know is wrong. What s rattin to them is telling the truth for you. Can t you see
that? Can t you see that?
This quotation is an example of Kazan crying out to the public for forgiveness. Later in the film,
Kazan tries even harder to gain acceptance, as there is an obvious parallel between his own
testimony and Terry Malloy s.
In the courtroom scene, Terry Malloy turns stoolie and betrays Friendly throughout his

Fermentation Lab
DISCUSSION
In reference to Figure 1, the results indicated that the liquid medium created through the juice of
strawberries resulted in the highest rates of fermentation. However, while initially at the 5, 10, and
15 minute marks, the rate of fermentation of strawberries was the lowest out of all of the liquid
mediums; from the 15 minute mark to the 20 minute mark, the height of the bubbles rapidly
increased. The second highest rate of fermentation was from the water, which was used as a
constant in the experiment. After the water, it was the grape juice that had the next greatest rate of
fermentation, subsequently proceeded by oranges, and then lemons which had the lowest rates of
fermentation. Each of the rates of fermentation was determined by looking at the height of the
bubbles, in the last 5 minute interval, the 20 minute mark of the lab. When comparing the results to
the hypothesis, it is seen that certain parts of the results do not support the hypothesis. It was
hypothesized that the liquid mediums created by fruits such as grapes, would result in a higher rate
of fermentation. It was then expected to be followed by oranges, strawberries, and lemons
respectively. However, the results show that when strawberry juice was... Show more content on

Climbing Up A Rock Face
There are many diverse climbing styles to choose from when it comes to ascending a mountain. The
styles include bouldering, traditional, sport, and the most basic, hiking. Of those climbing styles,
two stand out as complete opposites, bouldering and sport climbing. The sport of bouldering is like
math and sport climbingis like music. Both of these climbing styles require great skill and practice
just as math and music do.
In the sport of bouldering, an abundant of people consider it dangerous, there is no safety
equipment, nothing to rely on if he or she makes the wrong move. In sport climbing, the climber
uses heavy duty equipment just in case of a slip to prevent falling to the ground. When it comes
to bouldering it can be similar to math on account of both requiring a great deal of thought.
When working with math, the questions posed are referred to as problems, in bouldering, routes
up a rock face are also called problems. Before climbing up a rock face, the climber examines the
routes available to him or her and carefully plans out the best approach. They decide exactly
where they will place their feet and what is available for them to grab hold of on the ascent. To
reach the top the climber must pick a path that is suitable for them and meets their skill level. Much
like when it comes to executing math, one examines the problem in front of them and determines
the best approach to solving it. They determine what the ending result they want is and pick a

Analysis Of The Book Watchmen By Dave Gibbons
Watchmen written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons utilizes the literary tool of
symbols to connect ideas and themes. Time is a major theme throughout the comic and plays a
significant part in the structure and outcome of the story. This theme is successfully coupled to the
theme of destiny by the use of the clock and other symbols that are present throughout the comic.
Symbols such as clocks, the smiley pin, and the graffiti are utilized to efficiently connect the themes
of time, justice and the loss of innocence and morality throughout Watchmen. The combination of
all of these themes ultimately allude to Ozymandias decision to unleash chaos on Manhattan by
foreshadowing his betrayal and explaining how impossible it is to entrench the peace that he has
manufactured by unleashing this chaos. The clocks in Watchmen are used to foreshadow crucial
future events and connect the themes of morality and time. Other than the literal connection
between calling themselves Watchmen and recurring images of actual watches, doomsday clocks
and time in general plays a huge part in the arc of the comic s storyline. This is because of the
impending destruction that the world is to face at the hands of Ozymandias. Doctor Manhattan s
father was a watchmaker before learning that time is irrelevant and therefore useless. Jon himself
finds this out through his own experience with time and seeing back and forth through it. This is
particularly important because the whole reason he

How Can Social Justice Become A Fad
Movements such as Black Lives Matter and the gay rights movement have gained rapid popularity
in modern society. This spike of interest in social justice in pop culture has created a fad in which
celebrities, public figures, and regular citizens feel an underlying pressure to support social justice
movements which alter rightsfor large demographics of people. And while the cultural trend of
social justicebecoming a fad creates the illusion of a more progressive society, the truth of the
matter is that the popularity of such movements can be detrimental to the cause because it gives
the false appearance of universal acceptance when the stigma against oppressed groups is still
prevalent in society. Indubitably, fads will fade, which is especially threatening in the case of social
justice, which has a much greater consequence once the popularity surrounding it disappears.
Removing the illusion of progress and calling out the hypocrisy behind those who feign support for
their own personal gain and popularity can counter the insidious nature of the social justice fad.

However, one way you can combat this potential negative is to have the door regularly maintained
by a professional door serviceman.
Roller Garage Doors
A roller garage door is made up on one complete panel. When it rolls open, it rolls around itself
until the door is fully open. Because the door is a single piece that rolls, the amount of design
options for it are a lot less than a sectional door. However, this design limitation does mean you
can pick up an inexpensive roller garage door since it is not filled with fancy window inserts or
other advance panelling design.
Just like a sectional door, a roller garage door offers considerable security because the track is
safely tucked inside the garage. The main negative about a roller door is that there needs to be
sufficient space between the top of the garage door opening and the garage ceiling for the door to
be able to roll up into itself as the door opens.
While the final choice comes down to the type of door design you want for your home, be sure that
the installation of whichever door you choose is done by a professional installer. Installing the
guide tracks for either door can be a tricky task, so it is best left to those who have plenty of

However, I was not surprised by the outcome. Wrestling is predominantly a male sport, so not
many women took forward to joining the wrestling team. Society expects females and male to
adopt and fulfil in certain gender roles and expectations. Males are expected to be strong and
athletic while women are expected to be weak, passive, and nurturers. At an early age children
adopt a sense of what is gender appropriate of them to engage in, whether in a sport or activity.
Their theory of what is gender appropriate is followed throughout their childhood to when they
are matured. Based off the theory of what is appropriate of a female to engage in, males tend to
reject the idea of women being capable of doing activities the opposite gender could do. It was
stereotypical of the coach to deny my request to join the wrestling team due to the fact that he
judged me based on my gender, and was oblivious to what skills I inherit.... Show more content on

When gender equality in sports is denied, it most likely decreases a woman s interest in breaking
the gender roles. This is why most males enjoy P.E in high schooland joining a sports team
because they are not challenged by society s depiction of what a male can or cannot do. People
tend to reject females from joining most male dominated sports such as football, or wrestling. They

Existence After Physical Death Considered
Existence After Physical Death Considered To address the question, Is human survival of a physical
death an intelligible or defensible theory? in the affirmative, requires postulating that:
1) The definition of human includes the characteristic of a unique soul or spirit associated with
each physical human body and,
2) Miracles, events unexplained by men s physical and natural laws, can occur and,
3) A substance dualist philosophy that the body including the brain is physical matter but the mind
containing our knowledge, memories, and thoughts is not physical matter and unique to each
individual.
Thus it is possible that the soul/spirit, absent the physical matter of the body, could retain its
spiritual existence via a miracle and absent the physical body, after death.
Let us examine each of these premises. The human spirit is defined as 1: the immaterial essence,
animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life, 2: a supernatural being or essence, soul
(Merriam Webster). Allowing the belief that human beings have unique spirits that are immaterial,
survival of physical (material) death is both defensible and intelligible. The human spirit encompass
thoughts, emotions, memories, etc. all immaterial entities which govern the way human beings
exist, in this life and perhaps the afterlife.
In my previous paper (Thompson, On Miracles), I postulated that, since a miracle is an
unexplainable event, according to man s understanding of his world, it

Be A Woman Programmer
In the essay How to Be a Woman Programmer by Ellen Ullman, published by The New York
Times, the author addresses the multiple ways in which gender prejudice is alive and in the
computer science industry today. While women still face discrimination, the inequality is more
apparent than ever in the workplace.
A point Ullman makes is that women in the computer science industry must prove themselves
further than their credentials. Ellen Ullman says But no matter how strong the social structure,
there is always that cheek slapped moment when you are alone with the anti women prejudice: the
joke, the leer, the disregard, the invisibility the inescapable fact that the moment you walk through
the door you are seen as lesser, no matter your credentials (Ullman, 2013), meaning that, even
though the woman is more than qualified, she must still prove herself even when nobody is
watching.
Ellen Ullman writes about an account she had with a former employer. She says about the
encounter I had a boss who said flatly, I hate to hire all you girls, but you re too damned smart. By
all he meant three but, at the time, it was rare to find even one woman in a well placed technical
position. (Ullman, 2013)
According to Rich and Walker Second wave feminism, beginning in the mid 1960s, tended to focus
on the under representation of women in the workplace. This was expressed with the creation of the
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (which

Humanistic Approach
Comparing and analyzing the biological and humanistic approaches to personality can be a
difference of opinions. Abraham Maslow studied the development of personality. Maslow
developed his own personality theory based on the basic human needs. His hierarchy of needs
pyramid shows the influences of human needs to the formation of unique individual personality.
There are biological factors that influence the formation of individual personality that play a factor.
By reviewing the relationships between biological factors and Maslow s theory of personality you

According to Maslow, the biological factors are important to the personality theory.
Physiological and biological needs in conjunction depend upon the same things. Physiological
needs are the very basic needs such as air, water, food, sleep, sex, etc. When these are not
satisfied people may feel sickness, irritation, pain, discomfort, etc. These feelings motivate
people to focus on alleviating them as soon as possible to establish homeostasis. Once the
feelings are alleviated, people may think about other things. The body needs are biological and
consists of the needs for air, food, water and a temperature range as do the physiological needs.
These needs can be very strong because if deprived over time, the person will die. The
relationship of the biological factors to personality is important because an individual is ready to
act upon the growth needs if and only if the deficiency needs are met. When the needs are met
people attempt to get more accomplished, therefore causing them to generate their very own
personality traits. Looking at the basic aspects of humanistic theory, it is somewhat incompatible
with the biological explanations of personality. According to the biological explanation of
personality, the general idea of Maslow s hierarchy is that everyone is born with specific needs. If
people do not meet those base needs, they are unable to

Farhad Manjoo
In How Netflix is Deepening our Cultural Echo Chambers , Farhad Manjoo uses the remake of
One Day at a Time to emphasize the imperative shift of an era focused on streaming that entails a
narrow set of refined references. By first exhibiting a remade show on a platform such as Netflix,
the re examination of reality is displayed to be evolving the mainstream identity of millions. From
broadcasting, cable then to streaming the secular depiction of being a vast wasteland emerges into
the view of a bubbling sea of creativity that allows for collective groups of individuals to be
recognized. Manjoo insinuates that through the shared references viewers attained through television
, nothing thereafter will have the direct mass impact of a singular movement of culture that the
medium television had at its peak. Although seemingly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The variety does not leave people trapped within an echo chamber that they subjected themselves to,
but instead challenges multiple discourses on multiple levels. Not all individuals think or perceive
the world as the same, but the bubbles that appear individually constructed are socially constructed,
hence, variety is needed. Although Manjoo does not denote that variety is important it is still
worthy to reinstate. The core issue that Manjoo has throughout this dialogue with the reader is that
there is a loss of conversation between shared references and that the viewer will shut everything
out, forcing themselves into an echo chamber that according to Manjoo they already dwell in.
However, this is not accurate in reality, since being presented with more unknown cases causes
more questioning, more dialogue, within that echo chamber that defines the

Analysis Of Sleepwalking Defense By Lindsay Lyon
After reading Lindsay Lyon s article about sleepwalking defense , it s clear this is a controversial
pled. The thought of being able to do anything in your sleep is an outrageous concept to grasp, let
alone use as a defense in a court room. Out of seven different cases in this article, there s only two
that I could come to terms with. State v. Bradley and Pennsylvania v. Ricksgers both involved the
murderof their significant others with a single gunshot during an unconscious state. In my opinion,
these cases are most relevant to the sleepwalking defense because it s more believable to think
one action took place before someone waking up then multiple actions. The Regina v. Parks case
was a far stretch to try and use sleepwalking defense.

The Effect Of Temperature On Rate Of Enzyme Activity
Period 1
10/05/15
The Effect of Temperature on Rate of Enzyme Activity of Different Enzymes
Abstract/Purpose:
The main objective of this experiment was to determine how different factors, such as the type of
enzyme and the temperatures that each of the enzymes were exposed to, could affect the rate of
enzyme activity. In order to measure this, a potato enzyme and liver enzyme were placed in four
different temperatures for 24 hours. Each enzyme was then placed in a test tube with hydrogen
peroxide and the rate of enzyme activity was measured. The result was that the rate of enzyme
activity decreased as the temperature increased for the liver enzyme, but increased for the potato
enzyme.
Introduction/Hypothesis:
An enzyme is usually a protein that works as a catalyst, which is anything that helps to speed up, or
catalyze, the chemical reaction (Bolster Moss, n.d.). To speed up a chemical reaction, enzymes
lower the activation energy, which is the initial energy required for a reaction to occur by applying
heat. However, enzymes are very substrate specific, only acting on specific reactants, which are the
substrates, and consequently, enzymes are selective in the chemical reactions that they catalyze.
Since an enzyme is a protein, each enzyme has a specific amino acid sequence, which determines its
shape and eventually, the reactions that it will catalyze. In this way, an enzyme supports the
biological theme that form fits function. Each substrate binds to the enzyme

Granting Equal Rights For Gay And Lesbians And Gay Rights
hroughout mankind s history, gays and lesbians have become fairly known as another scapegoat to
societies venomous opinions about accepting anything new or unfamiliar in order to balance out
any negative baggage left behind by previous generations. In order to accept them for who they are,
we must not abolish anymore given rights from them due to the misconception that homosexuality
could break the mindset through fear and righteousness of Christ; that we must beat them down
until eradicated from the planet. Restricting all equal rights to the LGBTQ community could
threaten the pillar of society and eventually, the destruction of equal common grounds for everyone.
Granting equal based rights and legal marriage rights under the authorized laws, must be expanded
far enough to not only the common men and women, but as well for the gays and lesbians too on
this planet.
In consideration of what has been happening as of current, most cases are being that the LGBTQ
community has been the reason that there has been a change with the sudden bump of the
increased rate of children s being adopted from either the orphanages or foster homes. Most gay
couples nowadays are considering to start a family, but could never adopt until the states could
finally pass a law where gay and lesbian could adopt a kid, (...) And several states allow gay couples
to adopt children (Jaweed Kaleem, 41 42). Despite that, there are still a majority of people who
cannot accept the fact now that gay couples

Gender Criticism and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
Gender Criticism and The Turn of the Screw
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James continues to stir up an immense amount of controversy for
such a short novel. Making a definite, educated decision on the actual truth considering the
countless inquiries that develop while reading this story proves more difficult than winning a
presidential election. That being understood, taking one particular side on any argument from a
close reading of the story seems impossible, because the counter argument appears just as
conceivable. Any side of the controversy remains equally disputable considerably supported by
textual evidence from the novel. One issue which, like the rest, can be answered in more than one
ways is why Mrs. Grose believes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a story predominantly populated by people of the lower class, living servants like Mrs.
Grose and a governess, which is our narrator, and the not so living servants like Miss Jessel and
Quint. It is interesting to see how throughout the novel the Governess is proud to place herself
slightly above the other servants, just as Mrs. Grose places Miss Jessel above Quint, however the
fact of the matter was that to the rest of society, these people were all considered to be on the same
bottom level of the socio economic ranking at the time. Robbins brings up an interesting idea in his
criticism that Henry James is trying to explain the standpoint of society throughout the novel,
which is that society felt that servants were not meant to be part of real society but were meant
to just blend into the background and do their job without really being noticed or acknowledged.
He basically uses the ghosts as symbols, even reminders of the fact that the governess is just like
them, in the way that she is below most of society since she is an upper class servant, and is
therefore invisible and something less than [a] human being (336). The housemaids, the
dairywoman, the gardener, and an old pony were all said to be equivalents to each other, therefore
making these servants comparable to a pony, which is definitely not making them on the same
level as other human beings, let alone those of a higher class. James is

Essay On Locavore Movement
A Multilateral Movement
Every Tuesday, of every summer a local foods market pops up in Thiensville, Wisconsin just a
ten minute drive away. Every week my friends and I go at lunchtime to eat food grown on local
farms. Fruits and vegetables of every color and every flavor. Juices and tea made from local herbs.
Even an ice cream truck made with local dairy products. The locavore movement in all it s glory. I
am proud to be a proponent of a movement that has gained so much popularity in past years.
Although locavore practices have proven to be difficult to maintain and unpredictable in
production, the widely popular movement has incited change resulting in healthier eating practices
along with profitable advancements for the local economy.

are no longer practical in centralized societies. Developed nations have moved on from these
practices, so they are only realistic in developing nations. There is an entirely other side to the
locavore movement that is not widely known about, a side intentionally hidden from the public. In
a 2014 article entitled, Limits of the Locavore, written by Margaret Grey, Grey asserts, Labor and
the Locavore shows that our society s tendency to idealize local food allows small farmers to pay
workers substandard wages, house them in shoddy labor camps, and quash their ability to unionize
to demand better working conditions (Dissent). In essence, the locavore movement is glamorized to
a point, allowing local farms to practice unfair labor methods. The labor aspect of the locavore
movement is not pretty, and often not talked

Fice Of National Drug Control Policy
The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) was created by the Anti Drug Abuse Act of
1988 to aid in the declination of illicit drugs within the United States. The ONDCP advises the
president on drug control issues, coordinates drug control activities and related funding across the
Federal government, and produces the National DrugControl Strategy. Within the National Drug
Control Strategy, several goals of the ONDCP are projected. Specifically, this strategy illuminates
seven core goals. The goals are to prevent drug use in communities; seek early intervention
opportunities in health care; integrate treatment for substance use disorder into health care and
supporting recovery; break the cycle of drug use, crime, and incarceration; disrupt domestic drug
trafficking and production; strengthen international partnerships; and improve information systems
to better address drug use and its consequences. The purpose behind these core goals are to aid in
the reduction of substance abuse at an individualistic level so that society can deviate away from
illicit drugs as a whole. One prevention mechanism the ONDCP employ is knowledge. More finely,
the development and distribution of information on youth drug, alcohol, and tobacco use. Examples
of such information can occur by supporting substance abuse prevention on college campuses,
expanding research on understudied substances, or preparing reports on health risks of youth
substance use. This prevention tactic is successful

classmates were people she had known since kindergarten or even preschool. However, she did

was ostracized before she made friends with Sara and Bethany because she dressed and talked
differently than her classmates. Sara was strongly influenced by her older sister, she would often

Response To Lucretius Definition Of Pain
Here, we get a glimpse of Lucretius definition of pain. For him, a healthy body filled with pleasure
is one where all the atoms inside the body including the ones constructing the mind and the spirit
are situated at the appropriate or required positions. Any significant deviation from the said
position is interpreted by us as pain. Thus, to Lucretius, the hedonist, a pleasurable and happy life
is one that is absent from pain, and a man in either in pain or pleasure, though he does mention
cases, though poorly explained, where the pain is considered as pleasure during sexual affairs. The
binary division between pleasure and pain will later help us understand Lucretius motivation for

The sheer volume of ideas passing through our minds, coupled with the fact that motion of our
limbs also originate from the heart when the mind first creates the image of our legs moving

ridiculous as imagining oranges growing on apple trees, i.e. producing arguments having no
observational or logical basis. Furthermore, Lucretius emphasizes on the regularity of human
thoughts of a large population: we all fear the unknown, shy from pain and are drawn towards
pleasure, tend not to rely upon reason unless encouraged by others. He says humans originally do
not differ in personality (just as all lions are predatory and goats cowardly) and he assigns the
variety we encounter to the difference in culture and upbringing. Thus, it seems reasonable to
conclude not all thoughts are based on the utter unpredictability of the swerve and human nature is

St. Augustine Religion
St. Augustine is considered one of the most profound popes that the Catholic Church has ever had,
not only from his popular texts, but the fact that he unified members of the church, and up bring
their mural at a turbulent time. St. Augustine was born in modern day Algeria(then part of the
Roman Empire) in 354 AD. Eventually, near the age of 17 18, he travelled to Carthage to excel in
his studies. Here, he met the future of the mother of his child, and remained with her for over
fifteen years. Soon however, he eventually left his old hedonistic life behind to join the priesthood.
This is when he would eventually start to write more of his popular work.
St. Augustine wrote many texts, reportedly up to one hundred. The most popular however ... Show

This included stealing of his neighbors fruit for no other reason besides the fact that he wanted to
commit the sin. Then he would boost about sleeping around with women even though he hadn t
because he wanted the attention. These experiences are how Augustine believed that humans were
inclined towards original sin, and could only be saved from the grace of God. Next, in his work
about the Holy Trinity, Augustine wrote about how the Holy Trinity was one substance,
including the Father, the Son, and the Spirit, and not separate. This does not, however, make
three gods or three creators. The Father, the Son and the Spirit are each one Person, and any
person affirms himself for himself (De Trin, VII, 11). Lastly, in the City of God, Augustine wrote
that the fall of the Roman Empire was not at the hands of the Christians. In this, he also
emphasized his original position on original sin, and include statements of good versus evil.
Furthermore, Augustines work were vital to debating points in the first council that defined the
Holy Trinity(First Council of Nicaea), set up by Constantinople. Augustine spent his final days in
Hippo. Here, he carried out a miracle of curing a sick man. Apart from this however, he fell ill
while Germanic Tribesmen called Vandals invaded the Roman Empire territory in Africa, and took
over Hippo. Shortly after, he died from his illness on August 28th, 430(age 75)

  • 2. A Brief Look at Bob Marley and the Wailers Me only have one ambition, y know. I only have one thing I really like to see happen. I like to see mankind live together Black, White, Chinese, everyone that s all (Bob Marley). Bob Marley s main goal was to bring people together through his music, and influence everyone he could to become a better person. Throughout Bob Marleys music career, he didn t know what kind of artist he wanted to be until later in life, and once he knew what kind of artist he wanted to be, he reached out to people and made many people enjoy reggae music and really understand the message in his music, which was not to hate or discriminate because we are all equal. On February 6, 1945 in Nine mile, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, Norval Sinclair Marley, a European Jamaican captain of the Royal Marines, and Cedella Malcolm an eighteen year old African Jamaican, had a baby boy together named Robert Nesta Marley, later known as Bob Marley, because a Jamaican Passport official reversed his first and middle name. When Norval and Cedella wanted to get married, Norvals family did not approve. They did not think a Captain of the Royal Marines should be marrying an African Jamaican woman who was not wealthy, and could not really do anything with her life. Although Norvals family did not want them to be married they still got married, but it turns out Norval was not that great of a father or Husband. As Bob was growing up, his father Norval was barely around, he never got to see Bob grow up. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Sunset Blvd Analysis From coloring and lighting to music direction and the score, there are many ways for a film s story to be told. Film noir mirrors its detective pulp book predecessors, where a strong narrative character is key and the protagonist walks a fine line between hero and villain. The use of voice over, black and white film, and evocative lighting techniques define the style we know today. Modern films, such as The Artist (2011) and Sin City (2005), attempt to incorporate these creative devices, but unlike their predecessors, these techniques don t support and further thematic developments. In director/screenwriter Billy Wilder s classic features, Double Indemnity (1944) and Sunset Blvd. (1950), use of voice over narrative, as well of the choice to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ability to color film has been around since the 1920s and in 1939, films like Gone With The Wind (1939) and The Wizard Of Oz (1939) utilized these processes to create a film spectacle. Film noir translates to dark film and Sunset Blvd. and Double Indemnity fit that both physically and thematically. The use of black and white film blurs the lines between good and evil. Without the use of color to easily distinguish the villains from the heroes, we are unsure of who we can and cannot trust. The lack of color allows the viewer to focus on content and forces them to concentrate on what is on screen. It is easier to make color look good on film, as it requires less work. It is much harder to make color associate with the story. Black and white film requires the skill of balance between dark and light in a scene. When done correctly, it can become a character of its own, helping breath life into sets such as Norma s immense mansion. Both films exaggerate the use of shadows giving the feel of a horror film. Lighting does more than draw focus on a character. It can be used to showcase the deceitfulness of a character and highlight their sinister deeds. Lighting can hide the truth from the audience and shroud the plot in mystery. In Sunset Blvd., Norma is shown in the shadows while she is in her home. During the famous We had ... • 7. How Interest Groups Have On Preserving The Environment As previously discussed in the lectures and readings, there are many types of interest groups. For example, chapter three describes the four types of interest groups which are associational, institutional, non associational, and anomic (Danziger, 72).While identifying various types of interest groups, including their functions and constraints, this analysis will discuss the impact that interest groups have on preserving the environmentin Florida. A concluding discussion of the global commons, which refers to the sharing of the earth s resources (McCoy, Problematique Lecture), will be used to argue in defense that even though in times of crisis, humanitarian rights must always take precedence over that of state sovereignty, which refers to the idea that each state has complete authority and is the ultimate source if law within its own boundaries (Danziger,114). Interests groups can be many things, such as a group of individuals who focus on preserving the culture of something or the wellbeing of something. But when talking about that of Political Interest groups, its definition is then changed into a group of people that share the common objective of attempting to influence the allocation of public values. But such groups can use a variety of strategies to achieve this purpose (Danzinger, 69). The difference between Interest groups and political parties is that a political party, even though still an organization of people which seeks to achieve goals common ... Without it, you run the risk of hitting cash flow crunches, wasting money, and missing out on opportunities to expand. When you are devising or revising your bookkeeping routine, remember that the purpose of bookkeeping is to help you manage your business and to enable tax agencies to evaluate your business activity. As long as your bookkeeping achieves both of these objectives, it can and should be as simple as possible. Keep a log of each category of expense, for tax purposes and write yourself a check for the total. Write cash reimbursable in your check register to differentiate this from taxable income. Alternatively, you can keep a petty cash record by writing a check to petty cash and keeping a log of each expense paid out of petty cash. Inventory Records Keeping on top of your inventory records will enable you to prevent pilferage, keep inventory holdings to a minimum, and track buying trends, among other things. If you sell a large number of small ticket items for example, as in a stationary store you might want to use a computer system to track inventory or tie your computer system into your sales by having a POS (point of sale) inventory system. If you sell larger ticket items you may be able to do it yourself on paper. The crucial inventory information you need to capture is: date purchased, stock number of item purchased, purchase price, date sold, and sale price. Accounts Receivable If your products or services are paid for at time of delivery, you will not need an accounts receivable tracking system. However, if you provide services or products for which people pay you at a later date, your accounts receivable records keep track of what is owed to you. You can monitor accounts receivable by holding on to a copy of all invoices sent out or by keeping an accounts receivable record. • 10. Compare the Way Poets Present Relationships in The... Compare the way poets present relationships in The Farmer s Bride and The Manhunt . In Charlotte Mew s The Farmer s Bride and Simon Armitage s The Manhunt , difficult relationships are presented by speakers who are dealing with an emotionally closed partner. Both poems explore how relationships are affected by mental health issues. In The Farmer s Bride , the Farmer marries a girl without getting to know her. As the marriage progresses, the wife s mental illness gradually develops at first she turn[s] afraid , until she tries to run away, and will only speak to animals. This causes the farmer to become jealous, impatient and possibly mentally unstable. In the fourth stanza, the farmer describes his wife as she is to nature ... The fact that the wounds are buried suggests that they are hidden and harder to get at. However, in the last line, the woman states that she had come close to rebuilding their relationship her efforts, although long winded, are working. Simon Armitage repeats the phrase only then five times throughout The Manhunt . This emphasises how difficult it is to recover a relationship when your partner has changed in this instance, due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He also juxtaposes the phrases passionate nights and intimate days . This suggests that the love was not just physical but also emotional. The main technique Armitage uses, however, is imagery to suggest fragility. • 11. Analyzing Daniel Wallace s Big Fish Big Fish Essay Daniel Wallace s Big Fish is full of difficult topics, including loss of a family member or loved one. Edward s death hits his family hard, but not in the way one might expect, seeing as they rarely see him. Though everyone has coping mechanisms to deal with death, William s is unusual.William only understands his father through the stories he tells, so when Edward dies, William remembers him through his stories. The stories that Edward recite are the only way he and his son connect. Even on his deathbed, Edward s stories take the place of meaningful conversations with his son. But I do take him seriously; this is the problem...Where s your sense of humor? Give me a break son, I m dying here! (16 Wallace). The book itself is proof that William barely knows his father s true nature, seeing as the entire book is told in eccentric stories that are not within the realm of possibility. On his father s death, William does not know how to confront Edward s passing, so instead, he turns him into a story. He says All this time, my father was becoming a fish. I saw him dart this way and that, a silvery, brilliant, shining life, and disappear into the darkness of the deep (180). • 12. The Age Of Turbulence By Alan Greenspan After reading The Age of Turbulence by Alan Greenspan, the memoir truly shows the significance of our economy in the United States. Alan Greenspan, who spent eighteen years as the chairman of the Federal Reserve, showed great efforts to assure that America didn t experience an economic disaster. Predicting the economic downturn that became the 1958 recession was my first forecast of the economy as a whole (47 Greenspan). His mindset was constantly full of ideas that would make the economy more stimulated. Greenspan explains the history he has in government, other economic systems, and world issues that greatly affect the economy. He also made sure the rest of the world would grow in a way to make more opportunities for all. His main... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Federal Reserve has many jobs to accomplish such as moderating long term interest rates to increase investment. When the economy is performing strongly, the Feds will raise interest rates in order to slow down the economy. This may sound like a bad idea, but in reality it must be done to ensure that our economy stays in equilibrium. We do not want our economy doing too well but we do not want it doing too poorly either. When the Feds change the interest rates the banks that borrow money from the Fed get directly affected because the loaning price of the money either lowers or rises in response to the interest rates. On the other hand, when the Fed lowers interest rates, it means the economy is performing poorly. Lowering interest rates makes money more accessible for the banks to borrow. When the Fed tightens, the stock market tends to not perform well. While the Fed had no explicit mandate to focus on the stock market, the effects of the run up in prices seemed to me a legitimate concern (175 Greenspan). To explain, higher interest rates creates a lower demand for stocks, causing stock prices to fall. Lower interest rates creates a higher demand for stocks, causing stock prices to rise. When the demand for stocks fall, the demand for bonds will increase. Interest rates and bond prices are inversely related. This means that when interest rates rise, the demand for bonds fall. Although television is often said to be a primary space for the formation, articulation, and reflection of culture in the United States, because of the medium s unique relationship with history and temporality (Malgorzata J. 83). The desire to understand past culture and the visual representation of our history is the driving force for popularity for television. American Dad helps depict American culture, because although American Dad is a sitcom they mention past events and their political viewpoints are often expressed in episodes of American Dad. Specially, Stan Smith is extremely controversial and is dead set on keeping terrorists out of America. This was very emotional for Americans because American Dad came out after 9/11, which is a very touchy subject for millions of Americans. In the attempt to close our doors to foreign dependency on oil, we are actually becoming even more dependent on solely one foreign nation. The amount of oil we will receive from Canada is a substantial amount since it will replace overseas imports on foreign oil. Instead of being more reliant on our own oil, we are only shifting focus to rely on another nation that is not in economic or political turmoil. Secondly, the Keystone Pipeline itself is an export pipeline. Canada will be using the pipeline in order to transport crude oil to refineries in the Gulf Coast. Once the crude oil reaches the Gulf Coast, refineries will refine the crude oil into diesel and export it to Europe and Latin America. We will not be dependent on these countries anymore for their oil, but we will be involved in the importing and exporting of oil. In fact, this will actually pull the U.S. into a greater involvement with these nations. According to Oil Change International, the only way that we can actually reduce our dependency on foreign oil is to reduce our dependency on all oil as a whole. The first image provides the reader with a setting that presents the women as shy and weary of what the outcome of this conversation is going to be. The final image is when the author, Eve Ensler, begins to realize that the vagina is similar to the human heart in many ways, and this helps her come to grips with her previous insecurities. The central image was when one of the women recounts how a sexual encounter with a man she had relations with helped her find her confidence and self love for herself and her vagina. The central image helps bridge the gap that the women had in the beginning of the play and in the finale. The central image was necessary to connect the first and last images of the play to show the reader that self love and acceptance are a continuous journey and everyone has a different encounter or experience that leads them to that realization. 4.What changes in you? • 33. How Can Social Justice Become A Fad Movements such as Black Lives Matter and the gay rights movement have gained rapid popularity in modern society. This spike of interest in social justice in pop culture has created a fad in which celebrities, public figures, and regular citizens feel an underlying pressure to support social justice movements which alter rightsfor large demographics of people. And while the cultural trend of social justicebecoming a fad creates the illusion of a more progressive society, the truth of the matter is that the popularity of such movements can be detrimental to the cause because it gives the false appearance of universal acceptance when the stigma against oppressed groups is still prevalent in society. Indubitably, fads will fade, which is especially threatening in the case of social justice, which has a much greater consequence once the popularity surrounding it disappears. Removing the illusion of progress and calling out the hypocrisy behind those who feign support for their own personal gain and popularity can counter the insidious nature of the social justice fad. Popularity can be powerful in the sense that movements can gain a lot of traction by drawing attention to problems; however, this power is often wasted by the inability to utilize public outrage into an effective method of ... While there is not currently an equivalent study for homes located down under, it is generally agreed you will see a good return on your investment when you do quality renovations. However, one way you can combat this potential negative is to have the door regularly maintained by a professional door serviceman. Roller Garage Doors A roller garage door is made up on one complete panel. When it rolls open, it rolls around itself until the door is fully open. Because the door is a single piece that rolls, the amount of design options for it are a lot less than a sectional door. However, this design limitation does mean you can pick up an inexpensive roller garage door since it is not filled with fancy window inserts or other advance panelling design. Just like a sectional door, a roller garage door offers considerable security because the track is safely tucked inside the garage. The main negative about a roller door is that there needs to be sufficient space between the top of the garage door opening and the garage ceiling for the door to be able to roll up into itself as the door opens. While the final choice comes down to the type of door design you want for your home, be sure that the installation of whichever door you choose is done by a professional installer. Thus it is possible that the soul/spirit, absent the physical matter of the body, could retain its spiritual existence via a miracle and absent the physical body, after death. Let us examine each of these premises. The human spirit is defined as 1: the immaterial essence, animating principle, or actuating cause of an individual life, 2: a supernatural being or essence, soul (Merriam Webster). Allowing the belief that human beings have unique spirits that are immaterial, survival of physical (material) death is both defensible and intelligible. While women still face discrimination, the inequality is more apparent than ever in the workplace. A point Ullman makes is that women in the computer science industry must prove themselves further than their credentials. Ellen Ullman says But no matter how strong the social structure, there is always that cheek slapped moment when you are alone with the anti women prejudice: the joke, the leer, the disregard, the invisibility the inescapable fact that the moment you walk through the door you are seen as lesser, no matter your credentials (Ullman, 2013), meaning that, even though the woman is more than qualified, she must still prove herself even when nobody is watching. Ellen Ullman writes about an account she had with a former employer. She says about the encounter I had a boss who said flatly, I hate to hire all you girls, but you re too damned smart. By all he meant three but, at the time, it was rare to find even one woman in a well placed technical position. Physiological needs are the very basic needs such as air, water, food, sleep, sex, etc. When these are not satisfied people may feel sickness, irritation, pain, discomfort, etc. These feelings motivate people to focus on alleviating them as soon as possible to establish homeostasis. Once the feelings are alleviated, people may think about other things. The body needs are biological and consists of the needs for air, food, water and a temperature range as do the physiological needs. These needs can be very strong because if deprived over time, the person will die. The relationship of the biological factors to personality is important because an individual is ready to act upon the growth needs if and only if the deficiency needs are met. When the needs are met people attempt to get more accomplished, therefore causing them to generate their very own personality traits. • 45. The Effect Of Temperature On Rate Of Enzyme Activity Period 1 10/05/15 The Effect of Temperature on Rate of Enzyme Activity of Different Enzymes Abstract/Purpose: The main objective of this experiment was to determine how different factors, such as the type of enzyme and the temperatures that each of the enzymes were exposed to, could affect the rate of enzyme activity. In order to measure this, a potato enzyme and liver enzyme were placed in four different temperatures for 24 hours. Each enzyme was then placed in a test tube with hydrogen peroxide and the rate of enzyme activity was measured. The result was that the rate of enzyme activity decreased as the temperature increased for the liver enzyme, but increased for the potato enzyme. Introduction/Hypothesis: An enzyme is usually a protein that works as a catalyst, which is anything that helps to speed up, or catalyze, the chemical reaction (Bolster Moss, n.d.). To speed up a chemical reaction, enzymes lower the activation energy, which is the initial energy required for a reaction to occur by applying heat. However, enzymes are very substrate specific, only acting on specific reactants, which are the substrates, and consequently, enzymes are selective in the chemical reactions that they catalyze. Since an enzyme is a protein, each enzyme has a specific amino acid sequence, which determines its shape and eventually, the reactions that it will catalyze. In this way, an enzyme supports the biological theme that form fits function. Each substrate binds to the enzyme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Robbins brings up an interesting idea in his criticism that Henry James is trying to explain the standpoint of society throughout the novel, which is that society felt that servants were not meant to be part of real society but were meant to just blend into the background and do their job without really being noticed or acknowledged. He basically uses the ghosts as symbols, even reminders of the fact that the governess is just like them, in the way that she is below most of society since she is an upper class servant, and is therefore invisible and something less than [a] human being (336). Thus, to Lucretius, the hedonist, a pleasurable and happy life is one that is absent from pain, and a man in either in pain or pleasure, though he does mention cases, though poorly explained, where the pain is considered as pleasure during sexual affairs.
