gorges and canyons

3. Ages Davis’s Rivers
- A youthful river is a
river with steep
gradient and flows
quickly, very few
tributaries. Its channel
erodes deeper
-A mature river is less
gradient and steep
than the youthful and
flows slower, and
more tributaries

-Old river is low
gradient and low
erosive energy
characterized by flood
plains.
-Rejuvenated river is a
river with gradient and
is uplifted by tectonic
plates

5. Climate & Location
-Rivers can be located
everywhere as long as
it can flow
downstream
-The climate varies
where the river is
located.
Like in Alaska the
climate can drop 40
degrees below 0.
In the Nile the
temperature can be
60-80*F.
