Recent advancements in machine learning have enabled market innovators to build insights from IoT sensors in the wild. These insights can be used to solve complex real-world challenges. The lack of security in typical vision-based IoT solutions is especially concerning, as they are typically responsible for managing sensitive data (PID, CCTV) or critical systems (cars, machinery). Security is rarely the first thought for developers of new types of solutions, but making systems secure after the fact is difficult since a holistic approach is required.
Exacerbating this challenge of achieving end-to-end security, the development and deployment of IoT systems often involves multiple handovers of responsibility, which can make achieving end-to-end security difficult. And, due to the complexity and diversity of these systems, security bodies have been unable to prescribe “silver bullet” solutions. IoTlondon - mbed based IoT Gateway talk
The document describes an IoT gateway solution based on the mbed microcontroller board. The gateway connects wireless sensor nodes using various communication protocols to cloud services. It has a modular, open source software design that allows new sensor nodes and cloud outputs to be added without code changes. Thanks to rapid advances in neural network algorithms, we’ve made tremendous progress in developing robust solutions for numerous computer vision tasks. Face detection, face recognition, object identification, object tracking, lane marking detection and pedestrian detection are just a few examples of challenging visual perception tasks where deep neural networks are providing superior solutions to traditional computer vision algorithms.
Compared with traditional algorithms, deep neural networks rely on a very different computational model. As a result, the types of processor architectures being used for deep neural networks are also quite different from those used in the past.

Thanks to rapid advances in neural network algorithms, we’ve made tremendous progress in developing robust solutions for numerous computer vision tasks. Face detection, face recognition, object identification, object tracking, lane marking detection and pedestrian detection are just a few examples of challenging visual perception tasks where deep neural networks are providing superior solutions to traditional computer vision algorithms.
Compared with traditional algorithms, deep neural networks rely on a very different computational model. As a result, the types of processor architectures being used for deep neural networks are also quite different from those used in the past.
In this talk, Talluri explores the diverse processor architecture approaches that are gaining popularity in machine learning- based embedded vision applications and discusses their strengths and weaknesses in general, and in the context of specific applications.Delivering the IoT ecosystem
