Production Process Evaluation
Research
• During the research process of this unit I decided to research video game posters as
that was one of my main ideas to produce, During this process I reviewed an array
of video game posters, ranging from the pre 1990 era to modern posters. When
reviewing these poster I analysed them thoroughly by analysing the colours and
what effect the colours have on the audience. I then analysed the characters on the
poster and what effect it will have on the audience that view the poster. For
example I reviewed the poster for red dead redemption, in this poster I analysed
how the merge between the white and red in the poster emphasises the
redemption of the main character in the story line. I also analysed how there are
two silhouettes of the main character in the poster, one silhouette is in dark colours
and another in white, this also emphasises the main characters battle with in
himself.
Planning
• During my planning to make my video game poster I researched existing posters online and
used these posters to pick out the main colour schemes that had been used and which text
font. I also used existing posters to influence my poster, for example I decided to use
silhouettes for the characters on my poster as that is the modern technique used on posters.
One strength of the planning was that I was able to layout my poster making different ideas
on what would work together, what colours and fonts and silhouettes I could use to attract
my audience. Another strength of this process was that I was able to interview some
consumers of video games, this then meant that when I was planning the layout of my
posters and what to use on the posters I knew what the consumers were looking for in
posters, so I was able to target it at them. One weakness of the planning was that I wasn’t
really able to experiment with the different colours and fonts I had gathered when making
my layouts. But I don’t think this had any effect on my product as I think all elements of the
poster that I chose worked well together.
Time Management
• I think I managed my time okay with this unit, I completed my project within the
time limit, I don’t think personally there is anything I could have added to it to
make it better. I also managed to create all my assets for my poster in the time
given for this unit.
Technical Qualities Existing ProductMy Product
When comparing my product to
an existing product there are
some clear differences. For
example my product the
existing product looks to be
drawn and spent months on by
a professional designer. Where
as with my poster I did not draw
my poster and got my assets
from the internet from the
internet as the assets are copy
right free therefore I can use
them. One similarity between
my poster and the existing
poster is that they both include
silhouettes of the characters
instead of showing the
characters in detail. I think this
adds mystery to the poster.
Aesthetic Qualities

Audience Appeal
When making my poster I kept the audiences answers to my survey
and questionnaire in mind for example the audience of people that
answered my survey are people aged between the ages of 18-30,
therefore I made my poster mature themed as to attract the audience.
I have done this by adding the 18 rated pegi logo to the bottom left of
the poster. This is clearly showing that the game is for a mature adult
audience. But I have not added any content to the poster that would
stop anybody from looking at it. My audience also all answered saying
that they played on the PS4 console therefore I added the PS4 banner
to the poster as to attract the audience, if I had a mix of answers with
regards to the consoles I would have made another poster and just
changed the banner at the top to an Xbox banner for example. My
audience also said that they prefer to play horror games and FPS
games (first person shooters), That is why I have made a zombie video
game poster as it is horror themed and everyone loves zombies.
Although I have not advertised the game as a FPS I have added a
soldier to the poster to show consumers that the game is a shooter.
My audience have also expressed that they are casual players,
therefore I have tried to make my poster feel like it has some casual
elements, for example Rockstar is a very big company that makes
amazing games, but the games they make are also casual you can play
them and come back anytime and not lose anything unlike competitive
games. Therefore my audience will be attracted to the game because
they know that the game is casual and they can play it as much as they
like without losing anything in game.
