Improper Antibiotic Use Antibiotics ( Antibiotics ) (...

Improper Antibiotic Use Antibiotics have been the answer to many bacterial infections for the past
70 years (Antibiotic/ Antimicrobial Resistance). Antibiotics are medicines used to treat infections
or diseases caused by bacteria ( What are Antibiotics? ). Antibiotics were prescribed to cure many
diseases. Doctors prescribed many antibiotics during World War II. World War II was the start of
the antibiotic era. Just when antibiotics were being greatly produced, bacteria started to evolve and
became resistant to these medicines. What is antibiotic resistance? According to the U.S. Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention, Antibiotic resistance occurs when an antibiotic has lost its
ability to effectively control or kill bacterial growth ( General Background ). Improper use of
antibiotics causes antibiotic resistance and has many effects associated with it. People may be
drug abusers and this can cause resistance in the body. Some people will only take antibiotics
because they believe it is the only way they will get better. When a person uses drugs to get rid of
a sickness they may start to overcompensate, but when they do, the drug may have less of an
effect because the body has become so used to the drugs medicine. That is because the bacteria has
found a way to avoid the effects of the antibiotic. The appropriate use of antibiotics, often called
antibiotic stewardship, can help preserve the effectiveness

Leadership Influences Throughout My Career
1.Leadership is creating an environment where individuals within your sphere of influence are
inspired to move forward with the short term goals, plans, missions, and strategic intent of an
organization while performing within the bounds of that organizations moral and ethical boundaries.
2.The leadership influences throughout my career stem mostly from positive interactions with my
supervisors. Although there are some instances where negative attitudes and leadership affected my
professional career, those moments are far outweighed by the positive influences I have routinely
been fortunate enough to experience. To be fair, I had created situations early on in the Coast Guard
that put some individuals in a position to make some tough decisions. I would not have been
faced with the effects of poor leadership in these instances had I not acted in certain ways. Both
positive and negative experiences can be filled with leadership influence and addressing both is the
only way to fully cover what has affected me throughout my career.
3.In 1997 I was a Fireman Apprentice onboard the CGC DILIGENCE and considered myself a
hard worker dedicated to the unit and Coast Guard missions. For the most part there was nothing
too noteworthy that happened for the first 10 months I was onboard that created a specifically
memorable positive leadership moment, there was a consistent 10 months of supervisors staying
involved and encouraging me early in my career. Their actions set the

In Many Cases, A Patient Increases Their Odds Of A Cesarean
In many cases, a patient increases their odds of a cesarean section if they chose to be induced
without causation. A study was conducted between the years of 1999 to 2000 with 3215
nulliparous women. The findings of this study showed that nulliparous women are at a significantly
higher risk of needing a cesarean section if they were electively induced (Luthy et al., 2004).
Multiple studies have looked at nulliparous versus multiparous women and have found that elective
inductions do not look to increase the odds of a woman needing a cesarean section in multiparous
women. Researchers have begun to look at other possible relationships between patients who
undergo an elective induction that results in a caesarean sectionand they have found... Show more

Elective inductions have not been proven to have a significant increase in the need for a
cesarean section. One thought for why there has been an increase in cesarean sections is that
some patients chose to ask their physician for an elective cesarean section. Some woman chose
to do so because they had their previous child by cesarean section and do not want to attempt a
vaginal delivery, while others feel a cesarean section would allow them to chose their own date
and time for a delivery. Minkoff et al. looked at ethical aspects of an elective cesarean section.
They concluded that there is no substantive justice based consideration for performing a cesarean
section (Minkoff et al., 2004). Minkoff et. al also stated that there is no self governed obligation
for anyone to offer a cesarean section in an ethically and legally suitable informed consent process
(2004). The researchers agree that if a patient initiates a request for a cesarean section to her
physician, that physician should respond with informing the patient about the process and request
that the patient reconsiders the procedure given the new information. This ensures that the patient
is rightfully informed of any possible complications and the basics behind a cesarean section. If a
patient returns and still requests for an elective cesarean section, it is ethically permissible for a
physician to implement her request (Minkoff et al.,

Accounting Systems And The Operation Of A Business
Accounting systems are important to the operation of a business. They system helps organize a
lot of information that helps owners make necessary decisions regarding their companies. It also
helps keep up with purchases and sales and other things such as stocks. The system helps make
sure that a business can afford certain items. Keeping good records is a mandatory requirement of
a successful business. If the records are off by a lot, or even a little, it can change the whole look
of the business in regard to taxes, investors, and many other important aspects of business. Another
important aspect of business that owners must understand is what assets and liabilities are, and also
the stockholders equity. These are all shown in detail on the balance sheetwhich is discussed in the
next paragraph. An asset in its simplest form is a resource owned by a business. This could be
anything from cash and equipment, to patents and trademarks. Liabilities are debts or other
payments that the company owes. These can range from notes and bonds payable to deferred taxes
and accrued liabilities from the past. The last thing an owner must understand is the stockholders
equity. This is the claim that the owner has to the assets. These are all related and shown in detail
on a balance sheet. As the name implies, the assets must equal the liabilities plus the stockholders
equity. These three things are used to determine many things including assets to debt ratio which
can help determine

Reflections on Society in Literary Works
In Gabriel Garcia Marquez s I Only Came to Use the Phone and William Golding s Lord of the
Flies characters experience dehumanization through isolation from society. While some might
believe that Marquez and Golding use the trapped characters actions to criticize society, it they
are actually doing the opposite. All immoral behavior done by characters in these literary works
are done in the absence of society, showing that the authors are actually portraying society as the
stabilizing element of our morality, and the structure of our humanization. Without society, for
characters like Maria, Jack, Roger and Ralph, the essence of humanity is lost and the line
between man and beast blurred. In the beginning of both stories there is still a great presence of
society. In Lord of the Flies, directly after the plane crash the boys set up a mini society on the
island. The vote for a leader and choose Ralph, much like we do in society today. The text even
states that This toy of voting was almost as pleasing as the conch. (Golding, 22) This of course
shows how the boys crave and choose structure and civility over chaos and anarchy... at first.
Voting is something that we do in a democratic society and the conch itself is a symbol of
democracyand order. Both of these things please the boys, which demonstrate that the structure of
society is keeping them humanand civilized. In the beginning of I Only Came to Use the Phone the
main character, Maria is torn away from society

America History Teach Us About The Dangers Of Racism
What does this episode in US history teach us about the dangers of racism?
I think this period in history aptly depicts racism as a very sad, narrow minded, damaging, and
ugly mentality. Anyone who has ever been a target of anything gossip, slander, teasing or felt
isolated, ostracized, friendless, misunderstood or misjudged should have a heart for and the ability
to empathize with other people. Sadly, while this episode in history (and many others) clearly
demonstrates the dangers and horrors of racism, there are still many who choose to embrace the
warped mentality from which it springs. History has shown us this repeatedly. Personally, I
cannot comprehend such a perspective, as it has no basis in any kind of rational, reasonable,
logical principle or ideal. But then, I was always the scrawny kid that stood up for the underdog
and fought off bullies, even if they were twice my size and I ended up being the one that took a
beating. To me, racism represents a corrupted mentality; a level of arrogance, entitlement, and
repackaged, relabeled bullying that is heartbreaking and deplorable. And it is not just Caucasians
who have throughout history fallen prey to the ugly tentacles of racism. Beneath the surface, almost
every nation, even otherwise very hospitable Asian nations, have some racist views of another
nation or nations which they perceive as worse than them. Hopefully, humanity will eventually
learn from history, and we can once and for all end the vicious cycle of

Two empirical research studies were compared in the comparison matrix.
The articles were located in the Grand Canyon University library. Article one written by Baum and

Subsequent Venture Growth. Article two written by Connelly, et al. (2000), is entitled: Exploring
the Relationship of Leadership Skills and Knowledge to Leader Performance. Article one contributes
to the dread of personal characteristic and the effects they may have on entrepreneur, was to

leader. Article two examines leadership characteristics and capabilities. . Baum and Locke (2004)
study contributes to the revival of interest in understanding the effects of entrepreneurs personal
characteristics, importance between the relationship of traits and subsequent venture growth among
entrepreneurs. Connelly, et al (2000) argues that, the nature of the leader capacities impact leader
behavior and performance. Baum and Locke (2004) researched entrepreneurial traits, skill,
motivation and winter growth.
The queries in the study addressed several hypotheses: (RQ1): Does passion and tenacity directly
predict venture growth? (RQ2): What direct effects are related to venture development? (RQ3):
Does passion and tenacity increase skills among entrepreneurs? (RQ4): Does tenacity and passion

Derivative Is A Complex Subject Of Calculus
Derivative is a complex subject of calculus. In calculus, derivative is a key term developed by both
Newton and Leibniz. With function f (t), the first derivative is defined asf^ (t)= df/dt=
lim┬(h→0)⁡〖(f(t) f(t h))/h〗. There is also a second derivative known as second order
derivative. The second order derivativeis defined: f^ (t)= (d^2 f)/(dt^2 )= lim┬(h→0)⁡〖(f^
(t) f^ (t h))/hгЂ—
=lim┬(h→0)⁡〖1/h {(f(t) f(t h))/h (f(t h) f(t 2h))/h}〗
=lim┬(h→0)⁡〖(f(t) 2f(t h)+f(t 2h))/h^2 〗
(Podlubny, 1998). The general idea of derivative has been for several times as the topic has been
dropped and brought up again for further research. Over the years, derivative has been defined in
many algorithms and methods, such as methods for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, early mathematicians solved these questions with what later became known as
derivative. Derivative has developed or created the ideas of extrema, tangent, and limit
(Anderson, Katz, and Wilson, 2004). Derivative contributed towards the mathematical world from
an early stage to the development of other rules. Derivative was mentioned early in the 1660 s to
develop new methods and rules. Many of the methods known today and that have been developed
over the years all derived because of the use of derivative. Derivative supports the evidence of
many proofs such as extreme, tangent, and limit. Newton and Leibniz both saw derivative in a
different way. Newton and Leibniz both created calculusseparately, as in Newton and Leibniz were
not working together for the creation of calculus. They both created or invented calculus by the
development of derivative. For example, in the first step of creating calculus, Newton and Leibniz
took the idea and concepts of derivative and integral. The general concepts of derivative and integral
came from the methods for finding tangents, extrema, and area. The general concept of derivative
and integral came from the methods of finding other solutions. Another invention they came across
while inventing calculus was the notation to solve the concepts of derivative and

Subliminal Perception Essay
Subliminal Perception
Subliminal Perception is a signal or message embedded in another object, designed to pass below
the normal limits of perception. These messages are indiscernible by the conscious mind, but
allegedly affect the subconscious or deeper mind. Subliminal techniques have occasionally been
used in advertising, but the purpose, effectiveness and frequency of such techniques is debated. It
is proven though that stimulation below the level of a person s conscious awareness can be shown
to have on some aspects of behavior. Following my research regarding, subliminal perception, I
came to the conclusion that it is used in advertising, but I am not sure to what extent. Companies
such as KFC and McDonald s use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the majority of beer and alcohol ads prominently feature attractive women, naturally
leading to a unconditioned response. Classical conditioning is also used by well known brands, in
which a uncconditioned stimulus might consist with a well known brand symbol that implies
products that have certain qualities. The print advertisement that I chose for classical conditioning
is from Geico. The Strong brand symbol of the Geico Gecko did not happen over night, but through
strong marketing campaigns supported by repetition, The Gecko has become a household symbol.
Sensory Perception:
Sensory perception is defined as, The immediate response of our sensory receptors (eyes, ears, nose,
mouth fingers) to the basic stimuli such as light, color, sound, odor texture. Formed with the
process by which people select, organize and interpret these sensations. Understanding the role that
the touch, taste, smell and sight play in marketing is important. It is our senses that interpret
information and give us meaning to what objects are around us.
Smell:
Scent marketing is taking interesting turns as manufacturers and marketers find innovative ways to
put scents into products.
The print work I chose to exemplify the smell perception is Air Wick. This particular
advertisement, although it is smaller than the average size, it offers a wide array of sensory stimuli.
While the print

How Does Larkin Use Figurative Language In Mr Bleany s...
In both of Duffy s poems she uses enjambment to create a quick pace in the poem and reflect a
rush of feelings, which also reflect the speakers disjointed thoughts. For The Suicide this could
reflect the emotions within the poem and similar to Miss Havisham it shows a continuous pain
and heightened emotions. However, Larkin s poems are more tightly structured. Mr Bleaney for
example still has enjambment but however reflects the individual s life being more structured. The
persona talks in third person about Mr Bleaney s life and represents it as bland. In both of Larkin s
poems he presents individuals who are shown as oppressed, and controlled by women, although in a

The indefinite pronoun something shows her uncertainty and doubt. She is also uses crude
language in her vulgarism fuck off . Her imperative expresses her strong feelings about her
feelings towards others, and maybe her own mental state of mind. An example of Duffy s use of
imagery is in the semantic field of death and violence in despair, lies, blood, horrid, bloody,
claws ; this lexis is violent and harsh, it expresses the individual s thoughts and actions of
violence. Some are also common nouns which could be objects of her violence (knife, glass)
representing that she s harming herself. Similarly Larkin uses a semantic field of objects which
represent Mr Bleany s life, also representing the lack of characteristics in the individual s life.
The line bed, upright chair, sixty watt bulb, no hook includes lots of concrete nouns which show
the room as dull and lifeless, and suggests he s only left behind these pointless objects. The use
of adjectives such as thin and frayed describing the room could represents Mr Bleaney also as
old and delicate. Larkin also uses imagery to tell us more about the individual s lives. In Mr
Bleaney the comment he was at the bodies, until they moved him refers to him as possibly a
deceased body at the funeral home, and then we get this image of the box in the last stanza
which also suggests death and a funeral. The words create an image of death, which suggests
sadness and loneliness. The description of Mr Bleaney s room is used as imagery to tell us
more about My Bleaney s life. The austereness of his room, reflects the bareness of his life. The
premodifying adjectives used such as, frigid wind and fusty bed gives us the image of his cold
place, and that he was confined to this

Solitude Cannery Row Analysis
While solitude and loneliness may appear similar, ... all resemblance ends at the surface
(Estroff, 2003). Solitude is a desirable way to deal with problems when life begins to be too much
as it was for Doc. Solitude also gives one an opportunity to start anew, as the burrowing gopher
hoped it could. However, when solitude carries on for too long, it takes a strong will and a definite
goal to avoid loneliness, the undesirable offspring of isolation and rejection. Doc wanted to get
away from his life after he likely had trouble with love, so he chose solitude in Cannery Row, but he
overstayed his solitude. Doc s walk from Chicago to Florida over a breakup with his girlfriend
shows how deeply affected by love he can be. Coupled with the sad story of a lost lover in the
poem that Doc memorized and read at the end of Cannery Row, it is safe to say that Doc
suffered badly from an issue in his love life, so he chose solitude in a place with no one similar
to him in which he could start his life again. Solitude can be a beneficial way to deal with such
events and it could have been great for Doc until he lacked the motivation to leave solitude in

The Pros And Cons Of Current Account Deficit
The current account is an important component of the balance of trade system of our country. It is
a measurement of a country s trade where the value of the goods and services it exports. A current
account deficit represents negative sales abroad. A country undergoing current account deficit
results in foreign liabilities and debt with the rest of the world. This further leads to payback of
foreign current accountreserves. Current Account includes imports and exports of goods and
services and unilateral transfers of goods and services. Current account deficit in simple words is
the economic situation when the total imports are more than the exports. This means that the
country is importing more than exporting which requires the country to pay for the goods and
services it imports. This leads to an unfavorable economic situation. The present record is a... Show

A positive current record adjust demonstrates that the country is a net moneylender to whatever
is left of the world, while a negative current record adjusts shows that it is a net borrower from

the measure of the overflow, and a present record shortfall diminishes it by that sum. A nation s
adjust of current account is the net or distinction between the nation s exports of products and
enterprises and its imports of merchandise and ventures, disregarding all money related current
accounts, speculations, and different segments, over a given timeframe. A nation is said to have a

Creating Art Is Important In My World
In every corner of the Earth, there s art. In houses, nature, outside. If you don t notice, you aren t
looking hard enough. Creating art is extremely important to me. All types ranging from music,
painting, using Prisma colors and more. Art has always been present in my life, but I began to
get serious about it when I visited my Aunt s home last year. I saw my cousin sketching in a
small notebook with a black pen. I asked her what she was doing, and she showed me some
pages. It mesmerized me. Her drawings were so flawless, but best of all, they looked like fun.
From that day forward, I vowed to make art a part of my world, including all the practicing, art
block and the different mediums of art.
It really is as they say, practice make perfect . I ve been drawing for two years now and I can
definitely see improvement in my artwork. Adding drawing to your daily life, even if it s just a
small doodle, can help you in the long run. Any famous artist you can think of didn t just wake
up with talent, they practiced. Even Mozart had to practice for over ten years before becoming
the musical genius he was. It s not only about practicing for long periods of time, it s about
working on things you re not good at. For example, I usually draw faces, so I can t draw bodies.
What I do now is pick one of my favorite characters and and sketch their entire body. It helps to
add something you enjoy drawing to something you re not good at. In order to practice, you have to

How Do You Agree That Bill s Father Is A Reckless Driving
A behavioral psychologist would say that Bill participates in unhealthy and risky behavior such
as drinking heavily and driving recklessly because he has been influenced by her family to act
like that. For example, Bill s father could have been an alocholic and a careless driver. His father
may drink a lot, so naturally Bill may do the same and pick up his father s behaviors.
Additionally, Bill s father could have tought Bill how to drive. Assuming that Bill s father is a
reckless driving, Bill could have learned that it is acceptable to drive in a careless manner. Bill s
father could have influenced Bill s behavior and tendency to drink heavily, drive recklessly, and
participate in unhealthy and risky behavior. A socio cultural psychologist

Bronfenbrenner s ecological model and Dynamic System Theory share many differences but both
explain how environmental factors may affect human processing and functioning at different
levels. Each take into account how the environment can positively or negatively affect a person s
life and their perception of life, when dealing with a stable and traumatic experience. They both
consist of subsystems or levels that gives social workers possible explanations to how a person
can deal and perceive well being, trauma and resilience. Also both include an importance of time as

The Consequences Of Underage Drinking
Consequences of Underage Drinking While alcohol may not be the most dangerous of drugs, it
is harmful nonetheless. There have been many research studies done by the National Institute of
Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism that prove this to be true. Binge drinking is drinking with the
purpose of getting drunk, and is the most common form of alcohol consumption while it is also
the most dangerous. There have been numerous researches by other organizations and scientists
that have demonstrated just how dangerous underage drinking can be. These facts cannot be
denied and further the belief that underage drinking is very serious and dangerous. Not only
does a person run the risk of being arrested for illegal activity, a person can also be harmed. The
true problem in this situation is that many people do not realize just how dangerous underage
drinking can be. A night simply meant for laughs and dancing with friends can lead to much
more. There may not be any immediate consequences. There may not even be consequences with
the law. However, the danger is very real. Underage drinking is very common in the United
States. Alcohol is the most commonly used and abused drug in the United States, even more so

Produce a new look for a website.
3.1.2 Formal Report
===================
The problem that was in need of solving was to produce a new look for wow.com to target the 17
to 25 year olds. The look that the company were trying to aim for was young, energetic, dynamic
and flexible.
I firstly set out by comparing some current documents such as flyers, letters and invoices. This
helped me as I could gather the best parts from these documents and use them to give me ideas to
create new ones.
The documents that I selected had to be 3 of a kind that were from three companies with two of a
flyer and a letter.
I the started off by researching and designing a logo for the new look wow.com. I produced four
prototypes of the logo and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also had to produce a job application form which had to be on the website. I looked on the
Internet for examples of application forms and selected the best ones and took ideas from them.
Next document on the agenda was an invoice. I brought in some invoices and used them to compare
and to help me design mine.
I then had to actually make the website for which wow.com would put their new range on. I created
mine by using an online website builder;
I used this as I don t have much knowledge on building websites. This website had to include a
homepage, an order form and a catalogue. I new what kind of look I was aiming for at the start
and I thing I achieved it.
To help improve my website I created a questionnaire to be answered by the first few customers.
This is so I could make improvements to it straight away and also to satisfy other customer s needs.
The questionnaire had two parts to it, the questions and answers section which was design so that I
could get exactly what I wanted and secondly the tick box section which provided me with what
generally what they thought of the website. I then produced the results and incorporated the
improvements into the final design.
Overall I think what I have produced has been exactly what the company has been looking for and
I feel that they will be happy with what I have given them. All of the stationary is stylish and

Creon In Sophocles Antigone
THESIS: In Sophocles s Antigone, Creon is shown as an immoral character through his actions
towards his family; however in the end, he realizes his faults, so the audience empathizes with him.
Creon s immorality, which stems from his arrogance, causes a negative effect on his family
because he puts civil law above family law. As a result of his demands to punish those who try to
honor the fallen Polynices, Creon immorally destroys his ties to his family. Sophocles first suggests
this when Creon sentences Antigone to death with little hesitation because he believes he was
betrayed and must prove a point. In the play Antigone, Sophocles states Since I caught her, alone
of all entire people, in open rebellion, I will not make myself a liar to the city, but kill her
(Sophocles 666 669). To illustrate that Creon cares more for his public... Show more content on

Additionally, Creon mentions how he must not make [himself] a liar to the city, which depicts
him as trying to justify his edict on Antigone. Therefore, through the language and behavior of
Creon, Sophocles proves that Creon has no morale when it comes to making civil law superior to
family law. In his article The Two Worlds of Antigone, Vincent J. Rosivach argues, Creon s
mistreatments of Polynices and Antigone were political acts which denied the ties of family
(Rosivach 24). To depict how Creon came to the conclusion of executing his niece so quickly,
Rosivach explains that the motive was purely political. However, this also reaffirms the previous
statement illusrating how Creon often puts his loyalty to the government above the loyalty to his
own blood. Creon does not care about the outcome of his actions or the affect they have on those he
loves, which causes

Dalton Conley You May Ask Yourself Summary
Dalton Conley describes labeling theory in Chapter 6 of You May Ask Yourself as the belief that
individuals subconsciously notice how others see or label them, and their reactions to those
labels over time form the basis of their self identity (Conley, 2011:203). In other words, over time,
a person s self identity changes to fit the character other people impose upon them. An action itself
isn t necessarily deviant unless society decides it is. Labeling theory can go either way, either
positive or negative. While not necessarily deviant, an example of the self fulfilling (or Pygmalion)
prophecy created by labeling is from You May Ask Yourself, Chapter 13. Conley (2011) makes
reference to a study by Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson who administered IQ tests to a group
of students. They then proceeded to randomly select a fifth of the students for their experiment, and
communicated to their teachers that they were particularly bright (basically labelling them.) At the
end of the year they retested all of the students, and found that the ones they had singled out as
higher potential ended up performing better on the test than their peers. The researchers found that
the label they had attached to the students led to the teachers... Show more content on

What Does The Nutritional Deficiency Affect A Large...
Research by Bruce Ames, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UC Berkley,
suggests that micronutrient deficiencies affecting a large percentage of Americans (2% to over
20% for certain nutrients) is responsible for DNA damage that is essentially equivalent to that
caused by radiation exposure This is believed to be a major cause of cancers. Micronutrients and
Macronutrients Before going into Ames findings, we should clarify what constitutes nutritional
deficiency. Nutrients can largely be divided into macro and micronutrients. Macronutrients are
those consumed in large quantities and consists of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. These are the
nutrients that are known best, and they are the ones responsible for giving the body energy, among
other vital functions. Macronutrient deficiencies affect a large number of people in poorer
countries, but for the most part, Americans are not deficient in macronutrients. Micronutrients, in
contrast, are those that are needed in relatively small quantities and consists of various vitamins,
minerals, and certain other essential nutrients. Among those examined by Ames are folic acid,
VitaminB12, Vitamin B6, niacin (Vitamin B3), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, iron
, and zinc. Deficiency in
these nutrients can result in DNA damage through DNA strand breaks and oxidative lesions.
Chromosomal aberrations such as double strand breaks are a strong predicative factor for human
cancer (Ames 2001). Thus, it is suggested that

Arizona Laws Are Used For Determine Spousal Maintenance,...
Arizona laws are used to determine spousal maintenance, child support and family support
awards and amounts. In some cases, the court finds a temporary family support award
appropriate. Laws and specifications regarding the handling of awards varies when comparing
awards as set down in a final Decree to a temporary family support award. This differences
between how the two types of financial awards are handled can lead to difficulties in interpreting
the law as pertaining to the situation at hand. Such seemed to be the case with Maximov v.
Maximov.
Background of the Case: Ronit Maximov, Respondent Appellant, v. Eitan Maximov, Petitioner
Appellee
Ronit Rosenberg and Eitan Maximov were married on August 7, 1998. Eitan petitioned for a
dissolution of marriage on October 26, 2005. At that point in time, the couple had one child and
Ronit was pregnant with a second child. The decree of dissolution was entered by family court on
July 30, 2007. Included in the final Decree were changes to the temporary family support awarded
prior to the court proceedings that were made effective prior to the date on which Eitan filed a
petition requesting a modification. Ronit attempted to address concerns through post trial motions
that were denied. This appeal followed.

Ever since I was a young child, my dreams were filled with Emus, Emus, and more Emus. Those

my house where all of the shoes were sitting. I grabbed the only pair I could put on by myself,
my rad kicks, Buzz Lightyear on the sides with two giant Velcro straps. I tightly wrapped the
Velcro and hopped up ready to go. My reflection transparently looked back at me in our door. I
wore my favorite shirt, a souvenir I had gotten in New York a year before with a giant yellow
taxi on the front of it. In my cargo shorts I held my whopping four dollars and 35 cents. I loved
the jingle the coins made because my Grandma would always tell me how it reminded her of her
fallen brother. With a twist of the door handle, I was off. I took two steps at a time down our
concrete stairs and didn t even bother with the railing. The pet store I was going to was three
blocks away, on the corner of Alberta and 30th. My eagerness to get my Emu compelled me to
break into a quick sprint and all of my personal landmarks blurred past me. The place where I
dropped my Ice cream cone, the part of the sidewalk that they dug up to replace a pipe, and the
little corner store that had the lollipops my mom would sometimes treat me to. I heard her call me

Human Skeletal System And The Human Body
The femur, is the longest, heaviest, and strongest bone in the entire human body. In the human
body, all of the body s weight is supported by the femurs which are located in the human thigh.
The femur is classified as a long bone and extends from the hip down to the knee. The head of the
femur articulates with the pelvis to form the hip joint. The neck is a narrow connection between
the head of the femur and the diaphysis of it. The diaphysis is the shaft of the bone and the facet is
the small smooth articular surface at the end of the femur. The femur is made up of spongy bone,
compact bone, bone marrow, arteries, and veins. The femur bones are responsible for transmitting
force from the tibia to the hip joint. The femur is a very important part of the skeletal system. When
discovering the skeletal system and its interrelations you can learn a lot about the body. The human
skeletal system consists of exactly 206 bones, it also contains tendons, ligaments, and cartilage that
connects them together. The skeletal system performs vital functions such as support, movement,
protection, bloodcell production, calcium storage, and endocrine regulation. Infants are born with
270 bones, but some of them fuse together as the body develops. A bone in the skeletal system are
typically dense and tough on the outside, like a compact bone. When going deeper in the bone the
next layer is called spongy bone, which is lighter and more flexible. Some of these bones contain

The Little Albert Experiment
The Little Albert experiment has become a famous case study that has been discussed by a
plethora of professionals in the psychology industry. In 1920, behaviorist John Watson and his
assistant Rosalie Rayner began to conduct the first experiment that had been done with a child.
Watson and Rayner chose Albert because they thought he was stable; he was accustomed to a
hospital environment due to his mother s career as a wet nurse, he was healthy and showed little
emotion. Stability played a major factor in choosing Albert for this case study because Watson
wanted to ensure that they would do as little harm as possible with the experiment. The
conditioning of Albert began with a series of emotional tests that became part of a routine in which
Watson and Rayner were determining whether fearreactions could be called out by other stimuli
than sharp noises and the sudden removal of support ( ). Watson s method of choice for this
experiment was using principles of classic conditioning to create a stimulus in children that would
result in fear. Since Watson wanted to condition Albert, he used a variety of objects that would
otherwise not scare him. These objects included white rat, dog, blocks, rabbit, fur coat, wool and a
Santa Claus mask. To begin the experiment, Watson and his team started off by questioning if a
loud noise would cause a fear reaction. The sound of choice for this part would be a hammer on a
suspended steel bar. The first strike of the bar startled the

India does not have one consolidated Consumer Price Index, instead we have different indices
for different population groups each giving more weightage to the goods consumed by members
of the respective group. Earlier India had separate CPIs for Industrial Workers, Agricultural
Labourers, Rural Labourers and Urban Non Manual Employees. However, the last index has
been replaced in 2011, by one that measures prices changes in goods and services consumed by
the rural and urban population. We used the Consumer Price Index as opposed to using the price
data from the Wholesale Price Index as the later measures wholesale price changes whereas we
are mainly interested in studying variations in retail or consumer s purchase prices for the
purpose of this project. Hence, we obtained price data from the Labour Bureau of India website.
The price index we used was Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. This was chosen as it
is the index mostly widely used for calculating salaries and allowances and as our product, being
part of individual s diets, will be a major constituent of the expenditure incurred by consumers and
calculating arbitrage possibilities using consumer prices from this index seemed most

Challenges Of China Resource Corporation
The most significant challenges China Resource Corporation faced prior to 6S were government
intervention, over diversification, lack of strategy, lack of centralized reporting, and short term
focused managers. New policies in the economy during the late 70s under Deng ended CRC s
monopoly for China s trade. The introduction of special economic zones (SEZs) and joint venture
partnerships reduced CRCs value position as the mediator, as it was no longer necessary for firms
to work thru CRC to access the goods and benefits. CRCs broadening of interests and portfolio
diversification grew rapidly due to the loss of its monopoly. The expansion of investments caused
overinvestment and overcapacity which cut into returns and it became evident that the company s
assets and operations were poorly controlled and too diverse. Even with improved operations
through cutting offices and unprofitable companies as well as improved financial management,
CRC subsidiaries remained separated with little centralized reporting or integration into the
corporate strategy. Many of the companies were opportunity driven rather than strategic and the
quality of performance assessment, reporting, and management varied significantly across the
subsidiaries, making it challenging for managers to see and address each company s opportunities.
Managers were more concerned with hitting yearly benchmarks than long term strategy. Utilizing
6S, Jiang Wei was trying to address the business profitability and long

Miss America Pageant Reflection By John Oliver
Humor s powerful, influential qualities that key in on deficient human behaviors combined with
societal constructs that evolve from them in a way that reveals their absurdity, often to a
hilarious degree, is what makes satire entertaining and, often, interestingly informative.
Comedians that engage in satire deliver a message that may be considered rude if spoken by any
other means. Satire disarms the audience and pardons the comic from responsibility for their
criticisms, and is an especially powerful tool in repressive political and social realms. Last Week
Tonight with John Oliver uses the satirical news format as a means to address the ridiculousness
of beauty pageants as it continues to objectify women in a climate in which social constructs are
shifting towards feminist equality and persuasion of the audience to agree with the commentary.
Considering the context of the Miss America Pageant reflection by John Oliver in his satirical
news program, his goal is to select a particular topic to deconstruct and discuss the inadequacies
with a humoristic flair. The social climate from the early 20th Century introduction of the Miss
America Pageant to current day is vastly different, and while the pageant evolved over the last 90
plus years, the basic tenets remain. Today s woman is considered to be independent, strong,
intelligent and the physical appearance is but a side note. However, the pageant maintains the focus
on physical appearance, which to many is

Analysis Of Loung Ung s First They Killed My Father
Loung Ung s First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers follows her
struggles as a child during the Angkar rule. Children in Cambodia directly suffered from trauma,
which obviously dismisses the myth that children experience less pain than adults. The importance
of Ung s book is the emotional impact she has on the reader because she gives a voice to the victims
and to the dead. As Americans, this topic, the Cambodian genocide does not get taught commonly
in education. It shows the trauma that the citizens went through and how it affected the country.
The organization of the story follows Loung Ung s life from the day they left their home to the
day she left for America. Since, this story is from a child s point of view there is less of a
political importance and more emotional based. Each chapter contributes to Loung Ung s main

parents. If you are born in Athens to parents who are not citizens, you are not a citizen. It is as
simple as that, but should it be? Those metics who were born and raised in Athens, or whom
helped us contribute to the war in some significant way, should be granted citizenship. In Athens,
as we stand today, Metic are not allowed the right to own property, which, as we all know is
crippling in our society. They are however forced to pay taxes. Taxed without rights to vote or to
serve on our juries. They pay to be excluded. This willingness to remain in Athens as opposed to
wherever they may have originated from, or where their parents may have originated from, should
be taken as a compliment on our part. The city we run, is such that they are not only willing to stick
around through that, but that they stuck with us through a losing war. A majority of our medics are
wealthy and intelligent people. Some among us, the Solonians, believe that wealthy, and therefore
intelligent, business minded peoples should control the government of Athens, but then would turn
around and tell you that these wealthy, and therefore intelligent, individuals should not be granted
citizenship. Solon himself has been said to have offered Athenian citizenship to those foreigners
who would relocate to his city and earn a trade. How can the origin of one s parents change so
much about a person? Lysias for example, a wealthy medic, helped us to regain our city from the
tyrannical rule of the thirty tyrants by donating a large sum of money to my cause. I have, as of this
moment, not pay Lucius back, and yet here he sits, Not hounding me for the

  • 2. Improper Antibiotic Use Antibiotics ( Antibiotics ) (... Alaina Thomas English Comp. 2 Professor Sheets 3/2/2016 Improper Antibiotic Use Antibiotics have been the answer to many bacterial infections for the past 70 years (Antibiotic/ Antimicrobial Resistance). Antibiotics are medicines used to treat infections or diseases caused by bacteria ( What are Antibiotics? ). Antibiotics were prescribed to cure many diseases. Doctors prescribed many antibiotics during World War II. World War II was the start of the antibiotic era. Just when antibiotics were being greatly produced, bacteria started to evolve and became resistant to these medicines. What is antibiotic resistance? According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Antibiotic resistance occurs when an antibiotic has lost its ability to effectively control or kill bacterial growth ( General Background ). Improper use of antibiotics causes antibiotic resistance and has many effects associated with it. People may be drug abusers and this can cause resistance in the body. Some people will only take antibiotics because they believe it is the only way they will get better. When a person uses drugs to get rid of a sickness they may start to overcompensate, but when they do, the drug may have less of an effect because the body has become so used to the drugs medicine. That is because the bacteria has found a way to avoid the effects of the antibiotic. The appropriate use of antibiotics, often called antibiotic stewardship, can help preserve the effectiveness ... • 3. Leadership Influences Throughout My Career 1.Leadership is creating an environment where individuals within your sphere of influence are inspired to move forward with the short term goals, plans, missions, and strategic intent of an organization while performing within the bounds of that organizations moral and ethical boundaries. 2.The leadership influences throughout my career stem mostly from positive interactions with my supervisors. Although there are some instances where negative attitudes and leadership affected my professional career, those moments are far outweighed by the positive influences I have routinely been fortunate enough to experience. To be fair, I had created situations early on in the Coast Guard that put some individuals in a position to make some tough decisions. I would not have been faced with the effects of poor leadership in these instances had I not acted in certain ways. Both positive and negative experiences can be filled with leadership influence and addressing both is the only way to fully cover what has affected me throughout my career. 3.In 1997 I was a Fireman Apprentice onboard the CGC DILIGENCE and considered myself a hard worker dedicated to the unit and Coast Guard missions. For the most part there was nothing too noteworthy that happened for the first 10 months I was onboard that created a specifically memorable positive leadership moment, there was a consistent 10 months of supervisors staying involved and encouraging me early in my career. Their actions set the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. In Many Cases, A Patient Increases Their Odds Of A Cesarean In many cases, a patient increases their odds of a cesarean section if they chose to be induced without causation. A study was conducted between the years of 1999 to 2000 with 3215 nulliparous women. The findings of this study showed that nulliparous women are at a significantly higher risk of needing a cesarean section if they were electively induced (Luthy et al., 2004). Multiple studies have looked at nulliparous versus multiparous women and have found that elective inductions do not look to increase the odds of a woman needing a cesarean section in multiparous women. Researchers have begun to look at other possible relationships between patients who undergo an elective induction that results in a caesarean sectionand they have found... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elective inductions have not been proven to have a significant increase in the need for a cesarean section. One thought for why there has been an increase in cesarean sections is that some patients chose to ask their physician for an elective cesarean section. Some woman chose to do so because they had their previous child by cesarean section and do not want to attempt a vaginal delivery, while others feel a cesarean section would allow them to chose their own date and time for a delivery. Minkoff et al. looked at ethical aspects of an elective cesarean section. They concluded that there is no substantive justice based consideration for performing a cesarean section (Minkoff et al., 2004). Minkoff et. al also stated that there is no self governed obligation for anyone to offer a cesarean section in an ethically and legally suitable informed consent process (2004). The researchers agree that if a patient initiates a request for a cesarean section to her physician, that physician should respond with informing the patient about the process and request that the patient reconsiders the procedure given the new information. This ensures that the patient is rightfully informed of any possible complications and the basics behind a cesarean section. If a patient returns and still requests for an elective cesarean section, it is ethically permissible for a physician to implement her request (Minkoff et al., ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Accounting Systems And The Operation Of A Business Accounting systems are important to the operation of a business. They system helps organize a lot of information that helps owners make necessary decisions regarding their companies. It also helps keep up with purchases and sales and other things such as stocks. The system helps make sure that a business can afford certain items. Keeping good records is a mandatory requirement of a successful business. If the records are off by a lot, or even a little, it can change the whole look of the business in regard to taxes, investors, and many other important aspects of business. Another important aspect of business that owners must understand is what assets and liabilities are, and also the stockholders equity. These are all shown in detail on the balance sheetwhich is discussed in the next paragraph. An asset in its simplest form is a resource owned by a business. This could be anything from cash and equipment, to patents and trademarks. Liabilities are debts or other payments that the company owes. These can range from notes and bonds payable to deferred taxes and accrued liabilities from the past. The last thing an owner must understand is the stockholders equity. This is the claim that the owner has to the assets. These are all related and shown in detail on a balance sheet. As the name implies, the assets must equal the liabilities plus the stockholders equity. These three things are used to determine many things including assets to debt ratio which can help determine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Reflections on Society in Literary Works In Gabriel Garcia Marquez s I Only Came to Use the Phone and William Golding s Lord of the Flies characters experience dehumanization through isolation from society. While some might believe that Marquez and Golding use the trapped characters actions to criticize society, it they are actually doing the opposite. All immoral behavior done by characters in these literary works are done in the absence of society, showing that the authors are actually portraying society as the stabilizing element of our morality, and the structure of our humanization. Without society, for characters like Maria, Jack, Roger and Ralph, the essence of humanity is lost and the line between man and beast blurred. In the beginning of both stories there is still a great presence of society. In Lord of the Flies, directly after the plane crash the boys set up a mini society on the island. The vote for a leader and choose Ralph, much like we do in society today. The text even states that This toy of voting was almost as pleasing as the conch. (Golding, 22) This of course shows how the boys crave and choose structure and civility over chaos and anarchy... at first. Voting is something that we do in a democratic society and the conch itself is a symbol of democracyand order. Both of these things please the boys, which demonstrate that the structure of society is keeping them humanand civilized. In the beginning of I Only Came to Use the Phone the main character, Maria is torn away from society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. America History Teach Us About The Dangers Of Racism What does this episode in US history teach us about the dangers of racism? I think this period in history aptly depicts racism as a very sad, narrow minded, damaging, and ugly mentality. Anyone who has ever been a target of anything gossip, slander, teasing or felt isolated, ostracized, friendless, misunderstood or misjudged should have a heart for and the ability to empathize with other people. Sadly, while this episode in history (and many others) clearly demonstrates the dangers and horrors of racism, there are still many who choose to embrace the warped mentality from which it springs. History has shown us this repeatedly. Personally, I cannot comprehend such a perspective, as it has no basis in any kind of rational, reasonable, logical principle or ideal. But then, I was always the scrawny kid that stood up for the underdog and fought off bullies, even if they were twice my size and I ended up being the one that took a beating. To me, racism represents a corrupted mentality; a level of arrogance, entitlement, and repackaged, relabeled bullying that is heartbreaking and deplorable. And it is not just Caucasians who have throughout history fallen prey to the ugly tentacles of racism. Beneath the surface, almost every nation, even otherwise very hospitable Asian nations, have some racist views of another nation or nations which they perceive as worse than them. Hopefully, humanity will eventually learn from history, and we can once and for all end the vicious cycle of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Derivative Is A Complex Subject Of Calculus Derivative is a complex subject of calculus. In calculus, derivative is a key term developed by both Newton and Leibniz. With function f (t), the first derivative is defined asf^ (t)= df/dt= lim┬(hв†’0)вЃЎгЂ–(f(t) f(t h))/hгЂ—. There is also a second derivative known as second order derivative. The second order derivativeis defined: f^ (t)= (d^2 f)/(dt^2 )= lim┬(hв†’0)вЃЎгЂ–(f^ (t) f^ (t h))/hгЂ— =lim┬(hв†’0)вЃЎгЂ–1/h {(f(t) f(t h))/h (f(t h) f(t 2h))/h}гЂ— =lim┬(hв†’0)вЃЎгЂ–(f(t) 2f(t h)+f(t 2h))/h^2 гЂ— (Podlubny, 1998). However, early mathematicians solved these questions with what later became known as derivative. Derivative has developed or created the ideas of extrema, tangent, and limit (Anderson, Katz, and Wilson, 2004). Derivative contributed towards the mathematical world from an early stage to the development of other rules. Derivative was mentioned early in the 1660 s to develop new methods and rules. Many of the methods known today and that have been developed over the years all derived because of the use of derivative. Derivative supports the evidence of many proofs such as extreme, tangent, and limit. Newton and Leibniz both saw derivative in a different way. Newton and Leibniz both created calculusseparately, as in Newton and Leibniz were not working together for the creation of calculus. They both created or invented calculus by the development of derivative. For example, in the first step of creating calculus, Newton and Leibniz took the idea and concepts of derivative and integral. The general concepts of derivative and integral came from the methods for finding tangents, extrema, and area. The general concept of derivative and integral came from the methods of finding other solutions. These messages are indiscernible by the conscious mind, but allegedly affect the subconscious or deeper mind. Subliminal techniques have occasionally been used in advertising, but the purpose, effectiveness and frequency of such techniques is debated. It is proven though that stimulation below the level of a person s conscious awareness can be shown to have on some aspects of behavior. Classical conditioning is also used by well known brands, in which a uncconditioned stimulus might consist with a well known brand symbol that implies products that have certain qualities. The print advertisement that I chose for classical conditioning is from Geico. The Strong brand symbol of the Geico Gecko did not happen over night, but through strong marketing campaigns supported by repetition, The Gecko has become a household symbol. Sensory Perception: Sensory perception is defined as, The immediate response of our sensory receptors (eyes, ears, nose, mouth fingers) to the basic stimuli such as light, color, sound, odor texture. Formed with the process by which people select, organize and interpret these sensations. Understanding the role that the touch, taste, smell and sight play in marketing is important. It is our senses that interpret information and give us meaning to what objects are around us. Smell: Scent marketing is taking interesting turns as manufacturers and marketers find innovative ways to put scents into products. The print work I chose to exemplify the smell perception is Air Wick. This particular advertisement, although it is smaller than the average size, it offers a wide array of sensory stimuli. For The Suicide this could reflect the emotions within the poem and similar to Miss Havisham it shows a continuous pain and heightened emotions. However, Larkin s poems are more tightly structured. Mr Bleaney for example still has enjambment but however reflects the individual s life being more structured. The persona talks in third person about Mr Bleaney s life and represents it as bland. Some are also common nouns which could be objects of her violence (knife, glass) representing that she s harming herself. Similarly Larkin uses a semantic field of objects which represent Mr Bleany s life, also representing the lack of characteristics in the individual s life. The line bed, upright chair, sixty watt bulb, no hook includes lots of concrete nouns which show the room as dull and lifeless, and suggests he s only left behind these pointless objects. The use of adjectives such as thin and frayed describing the room could represents Mr Bleaney also as old and delicate. Larkin also uses imagery to tell us more about the individual s lives. In Mr Bleaney the comment he was at the bodies, until they moved him refers to him as possibly a deceased body at the funeral home, and then we get this image of the box in the last stanza which also suggests death and a funeral. The words create an image of death, which suggests sadness and loneliness. The description of Mr Bleaney s room is used as imagery to tell us more about My Bleaney s life. Solitude is a desirable way to deal with problems when life begins to be too much as it was for Doc. Solitude also gives one an opportunity to start anew, as the burrowing gopher hoped it could. However, when solitude carries on for too long, it takes a strong will and a definite goal to avoid loneliness, the undesirable offspring of isolation and rejection. Doc wanted to get away from his life after he likely had trouble with love, so he chose solitude in Cannery Row, but he overstayed his solitude. Doc s walk from Chicago to Florida over a breakup with his girlfriend shows how deeply affected by love he can be. Coupled with the sad story of a lost lover in the poem that Doc memorized and read at the end of Cannery Row, it is safe to say that Doc suffered badly from an issue in his love life, so he chose solitude in a place with no one similar to him in which he could start his life again. Creon In Sophocles Antigone THESIS: In Sophocles s Antigone, Creon is shown as an immoral character through his actions towards his family; however in the end, he realizes his faults, so the audience empathizes with him. Creon s immorality, which stems from his arrogance, causes a negative effect on his family because he puts civil law above family law. As a result of his demands to punish those who try to honor the fallen Polynices, Creon immorally destroys his ties to his family. Sophocles first suggests this when Creon sentences Antigone to death with little hesitation because he believes he was betrayed and must prove a point. In the play Antigone, Sophocles states Since I caught her, alone of all entire people, in open rebellion, I will not make myself a liar to the city, but kill her (Sophocles 666 669). Dalton Conley You May Ask Yourself Summary Dalton Conley describes labeling theory in Chapter 6 of You May Ask Yourself as the belief that individuals subconsciously notice how others see or label them, and their reactions to those labels over time form the basis of their self identity (Conley, 2011:203). In other words, over time, a person s self identity changes to fit the character other people impose upon them. An action itself isn t necessarily deviant unless society decides it is. Labeling theory can go either way, either positive or negative. While not necessarily deviant, an example of the self fulfilling (or Pygmalion) prophecy created by labeling is from You May Ask Yourself, Chapter 13. Conley (2011) makes reference to a study by Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson who administered IQ tests to a group of students. They then proceeded to randomly select a fifth of the students for their experiment, and communicated to their teachers that they were particularly bright (basically labelling them.) Research by Bruce Ames, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UC Berkley, suggests that micronutrient deficiencies affecting a large percentage of Americans (2% to over 20% for certain nutrients) is responsible for DNA damage that is essentially equivalent to that caused by radiation exposure This is believed to be a major cause of cancers. Micronutrients and Macronutrients Before going into Ames findings, we should clarify what constitutes nutritional deficiency. Nutrients can largely be divided into macro and micronutrients. Macronutrients are those consumed in large quantities and consists of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. These are the nutrients that are known best, and they are the ones responsible for giving the body energy, among other vital functions. Macronutrient deficiencies affect a large number of people in poorer countries, but for the most part, Americans are not deficient in macronutrients. Micronutrients, in contrast, are those that are needed in relatively small quantities and consists of various vitamins, minerals, and certain other essential nutrients. Among those examined by Ames are folic acid, VitaminB12, Vitamin B6, niacin (Vitamin B3), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, iron , and zinc. Deficiency in these nutrients can result in DNA damage through DNA strand breaks and oxidative lesions. Chromosomal aberrations such as double strand breaks are a strong predicative factor for human cancer (Ames 2001). Thus, it is suggested that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The diaphysis is the shaft of the bone and the facet is the small smooth articular surface at the end of the femur. The femur is made up of spongy bone, compact bone, bone marrow, arteries, and veins. The femur bones are responsible for transmitting force from the tibia to the hip joint. The femur is a very important part of the skeletal system. When discovering the skeletal system and its interrelations you can learn a lot about the body. The human skeletal system consists of exactly 206 bones, it also contains tendons, ligaments, and cartilage that connects them together. The skeletal system performs vital functions such as support, movement, protection, bloodcell production, calcium storage, and endocrine regulation. Infants are born with 270 bones, but some of them fuse together as the body develops. A bone in the skeletal system are typically dense and tough on the outside, like a compact bone. When going deeper in the bone the next layer is called spongy bone, which is lighter and more flexible. Some of these bones contain bone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Little Albert Experiment The Little Albert experiment has become a famous case study that has been discussed by a plethora of professionals in the psychology industry. In 1920, behaviorist John Watson and his assistant Rosalie Rayner began to conduct the first experiment that had been done with a child. Watson and Rayner chose Albert because they thought he was stable; he was accustomed to a hospital environment due to his mother s career as a wet nurse, he was healthy and showed little emotion. Stability played a major factor in choosing Albert for this case study because Watson wanted to ensure that they would do as little harm as possible with the experiment. The conditioning of Albert began with a series of emotional tests that became part of a routine in which Watson and Rayner were determining whether fearreactions could be called out by other stimuli than sharp noises and the sudden removal of support ( ). Watson s method of choice for this experiment was using principles of classic conditioning to create a stimulus in children that would result in fear. Since Watson wanted to condition Albert, he used a variety of objects that would otherwise not scare him. These objects included white rat, dog, blocks, rabbit, fur coat, wool and a Santa Claus mask. To begin the experiment, Watson and his team started off by questioning if a loud noise would cause a fear reaction. The sound of choice for this part would be a hammer on a suspended steel bar. The first strike of the bar startled the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She discusses the result of students not being taught how to take care of themselves. A report by a business research group by the name of, The Conference Board, found that incoming graduates were lacking skills such as communication and decision making (Whelan 258). Employers want to hire strong, skilled leaders who can perform tasks in the correct manner. When a fresh college graduate is put into the job market, who knows if they will be able to make important company decisions, communicate effectively on the phone or in person. If an over involved parent has done these things for their son or daughter all their life, they are not going to know how to handle specific situations in which they will need a select set of skills. India does not have one consolidated Consumer Price Index, instead we have different indices for different population groups each giving more weightage to the goods consumed by members of the respective group. Earlier India had separate CPIs for Industrial Workers, Agricultural Labourers, Rural Labourers and Urban Non Manual Employees. However, the last index has been replaced in 2011, by one that measures prices changes in goods and services consumed by the rural and urban population. We used the Consumer Price Index as opposed to using the price data from the Wholesale Price Index as the later measures wholesale price changes whereas we are mainly interested in studying variations in retail or consumer s purchase prices for the purpose of this project. Hence, we obtained price data from the Labour Bureau of India website. The price index we used was Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. This was chosen as it is the index mostly widely used for calculating salaries and allowances and as our product, being part of individual s diets, will be a major constituent of the expenditure incurred by consumers and calculating arbitrage possibilities using consumer prices from this index seemed most ... • 39. Challenges Of China Resource Corporation The most significant challenges China Resource Corporation faced prior to 6S were government intervention, over diversification, lack of strategy, lack of centralized reporting, and short term focused managers. New policies in the economy during the late 70s under Deng ended CRC s monopoly for China s trade. The introduction of special economic zones (SEZs) and joint venture partnerships reduced CRCs value position as the mediator, as it was no longer necessary for firms to work thru CRC to access the goods and benefits. CRCs broadening of interests and portfolio diversification grew rapidly due to the loss of its monopoly. The expansion of investments caused overinvestment and overcapacity which cut into returns and it became evident that the company s assets and operations were poorly controlled and too diverse. Even with improved operations through cutting offices and unprofitable companies as well as improved financial management, CRC subsidiaries remained separated with little centralized reporting or integration into the corporate strategy. Many of the companies were opportunity driven rather than strategic and the quality of performance assessment, reporting, and management varied significantly across the subsidiaries, making it challenging for managers to see and address each company s opportunities. Managers were more concerned with hitting yearly benchmarks than long term strategy. Utilizing 6S, Jiang Wei was trying to address the business profitability and long ... • 40. Miss America Pageant Reflection By John Oliver Humor s powerful, influential qualities that key in on deficient human behaviors combined with societal constructs that evolve from them in a way that reveals their absurdity, often to a hilarious degree, is what makes satire entertaining and, often, interestingly informative. Comedians that engage in satire deliver a message that may be considered rude if spoken by any other means. Satire disarms the audience and pardons the comic from responsibility for their criticisms, and is an especially powerful tool in repressive political and social realms. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver uses the satirical news format as a means to address the ridiculousness of beauty pageants as it continues to objectify women in a climate in which social constructs are shifting towards feminist equality and persuasion of the audience to agree with the commentary. Considering the context of the Miss America Pageant reflection by John Oliver in his satirical news program, his goal is to select a particular topic to deconstruct and discuss the inadequacies with a humoristic flair. The social climate from the early 20th Century introduction of the Miss America Pageant to current day is vastly different, and while the pageant evolved over the last 90 plus years, the basic tenets remain. Today s woman is considered to be independent, strong, intelligent and the physical appearance is but a side note. • 41. Analysis Of Loung Ung s First They Killed My Father Loung Ung s First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers follows her struggles as a child during the Angkar rule. Children in Cambodia directly suffered from trauma, which obviously dismisses the myth that children experience less pain than adults. The importance of Ung s book is the emotional impact she has on the reader because she gives a voice to the victims and to the dead. As Americans, this topic, the Cambodian genocide does not get taught commonly in education. It shows the trauma that the citizens went through and how it affected the country. The organization of the story follows Loung Ung s life from the day they left their home to the day she left for America. Since, this story is from a child s point of view there is less of a political importance and more emotional based. Each chapter contributes to Loung Ung s main point because as the story develops so does the affect on Ung. Each chapter Loung becomes more aware with her surroundings and forced to grow up quick. The Khmer Rouge wanted to get rid of social classes and make everyone equal and to do so Loung Ung s father states, The Khmer Rouge are executing people perceived to be a threat against the Angkar. • 43. Revised Speech On Voting Rights Revised Speech One Dear friends, and to all that are gathered here today at the Pnyx, what I come to talk to you about today is voting rights. I have come to appeal to your logical sides, as opposed to your emotional ones. Any Athenian of sound mind cannot make an argument against voting rights for slaves and Metics. Metics, as we all know, are the foreign residents of Athens, however, many of our Metics are Athenian born. Our current definition of citizenship is outdated and should be adjusted. As it now stands, the only true Athenian citizens are those born in Athens to both Athenian born parents. If you are born in Athens to parents who are not citizens, you are not a citizen. It is as simple as that, but should it be? Those metics who were born and raised in Athens, or whom helped us contribute to the war in some significant way, should be granted citizenship. In Athens, as we stand today, Metic are not allowed the right to own property, which, as we all know is crippling in our society. They are however forced to pay taxes. Taxed without rights to vote or to serve on our juries. They pay to be excluded. This willingness to remain in Athens as opposed to wherever they may have originated from, or where their parents may have originated from, should be taken as a compliment on our part. The city we run, is such that they are not only willing to stick around through that, but that they stuck with us through a losing war. A majority of our medics are wealthy and intelligent people. Some among us, the Solonians, believe that wealthy, and therefore intelligent, business minded peoples should control the government of Athens, but then would turn around and tell you that these wealthy, and therefore intelligent, individuals should not be granted citizenship. Solon himself has been said to have offered Athenian citizenship to those foreigners who would relocate to his city and earn a trade. How can the origin of one s parents change so much about a person? Lysias for example, a wealthy medic, helped us to regain our city from the tyrannical rule of the thirty tyrants by donating a large sum of money to my cause. I have, as of this moment, not pay Lucius back, and yet here he sits, Not hounding me for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
