This document discusses the role of Universities UK (UUK) in supporting open access following the Finch Report recommendations. It outlines several challenges, including monitoring costs, international developments, and ensuring value and competition in publishing. UUK will coordinate stakeholders to gather evidence, avoid duplication, and address issues. Its open access group will focus on developing the evidence base, coordinating research, commissioning new research, advising on policy and infrastructure. The group includes representatives from UUK, publishers, funders, libraries, and learned societies.
