6. After Rasulallah (s) passed away, some Muslims elected
Abu Bakr as the first Khaliph
AbuBakr was not appointed by Allah(swt) and Rasulallah(s)
These Muslims ignored the announcement at Ghadeer where
Prophet Muhammad (s) said
"For whoever I am his Leader 'Ali is his
Leader."
The Muslims were now ruled by the Khilafah system of Caliphs.
The first Caliph was Abu bakr , followed by Umar and Uthman.
Sunni Muslims believe Imam Ali (s) as the 4th Caliph
We Shia believe what Allah and Rasulallah (s) commanded
us to follow that Imam Ali (s) was the First imam and leader of
Muslims after Rasulallah (s).

9. Muawia son of Abu Sufyan
Muawia was appointed governor of Syria
by Umar.
Muawia was corrupt and used public
money to buy loyalty from people
Muawia also ordered every mosque in
Syria to abuse Imam Ali every Friday Juma
When Imam Ali (s) became the ruler, he
tried to remove the corrupt Muawia, but
Muawia refused and fought the imam in
battle of Siffin.
Muawia also fought Imam Hasan (s). He
bribed Imam Hasan’s army to leave the
Imam. Imam was left with very few
supporters and had to make a peace
treaty.
Muawia killed many innocent people.
He also bribed Imam Hasan’s wife Joda to
poison the Imam

10. Muawia appointed his son
Yazid as the next Caliph.
Yazid was a sinner, a
drunkard, and gambler .
Yazid was responsible for
killing imam Husayn (s) in
Karbala.
Yazid sent his army to
attack Mecca and Madina,
killing many people and
almost destroying the

Ahlulbayt . When he heard the news of the killing of
Imam Hussain (S), he went to Rasulallah’s (SAW) grave
and said “as you killed us in Badr we have killed your
Grandson Husain”

He apointed Hajjaj as governor. Hajjaj’s most
pleasurable hours were spent torturing to death
any of the friends and supporters of Imam Ali

harassing and killing the Shias. The Bani abbas oppressed and
imprisoned Imam Musa Al Kadhim (s) and all his followers
