3. Introduction
Hazrat Imam Hassan (R.A) was the eldest son of Hazrat
Fatima Zahra (R.A) and Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib (R.A) and
grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Peace be upon
Him.
He (R.A) is the second Imam of the followers of
Ahl al-Bayt.
He was born in Medina, on the night of the 15th day of
Ramazan, three years after the hijra (624 AD).
4. His others name
Alqab:
“Al-Sibt”, “Al-Sayyid”, “Al-Zaki”, “ Al-
Mujtaba”, “Al-Taqi”, “Tayyab”, “Amin”,
“Safwa tulaah”and “ Shabeeh –e-Rasool”.
Kunayah:
His Kunayah was “Abu Muhammad”.
5. Education
He (R.A) nearly six years and four months of
His childhood days spent with His grandfather
Holy Prophet (PBUH). Hassan (R.A) was very
dear to His grandfather. He learn basics of
Islam’s haddiths and Quran from his
grandfather. And the next 25 years of his life in
Madinah was with his father ‘Ali (as) and with
his younger brother Husain (as).
6. His devotion for Islam
Imam Hassan ( R.A) performed the Hajj on
foot twenty-five times. When he mentioned
death, he wept. When he mentioned the
grave, he wept. When he mentioned the
resurrection, he wept. When he mentioned
crossing the sir at (a kind of bridge which
only the righteous can cross on the road to
Paradise), he wept.
7. His Outstanding Merits:
Imam Hassan (AS) is the Prince of the youth of
Heaven.
He was one of the five persons whom the Prophet
(PBUH) covered with his cloak.
He was one of the twelve Imams whose obedience
Allah (SWT) made serving on people.
He was among those who were purified from sins as
the Qur'an says.
The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) loved him
and asked Allah (SWT) to love those who love him.
8. Some Golden Sayings by Hazrat
Hassan(R.A):
•kindness is giving in prosperity and adversity.
•The best wealth is contentment and the worst
poverty is humiliation.
•Whoever relies on the excellence of Allah’s
choices, doesn't wish to be in other than the
situation that Allah has chosen for him.
•Jest eats away one’s dignity, and the one
remaining silent increases in dignity.
9. His Death:
Imam Hassan (R.A) was given poison several times.
Then Imam Hassan(R.A) died on the 28th of Safar in the
year 50 A.H.
His Burial: Imam Hassan (AS) buried in (the
cemetery of) al-Baqi beside his grandmother.
11. Introduction:
Hazrat Imam Husain (R.A) was the son of
Hazrat Fatima Zahra (R.A) and Hazrat Ali bin
Abi Talib (R.A) and grandson of Prophet
Hazrat Muhammad Peace be upon Him.
Imam Husain (R.A) is the third Imam of the
followers of Ahl al-Bayt after Imam Hassan
(R.A).
Imam Husain was born on the 3rd of Sha'ban,
in 4th year of Hijrah in Medina.
13. Education
He (R.A) nearly six years of His childhood days
spent with His grandfather Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Hassain (R.A) was also very dear to His grandfather.
He learn basics of Islam’s haddiths and Quran from
his grandfather. And from his father ‘Ali (R.A) and
with his elder brother Hassan (R.A) learn the ways
to spend life according to Islam.
He also grew up to be loved by the companions of
the Holy Prophet. They all valued his advice even at
that young age.
14. His devotions for Islam:
He has performed Hajj 24 times during his life.
When he mentioned the standing before Allah
(SWT), he fainted. When he mentioned
Paradise and Fire, he shock as the sick person
did. So he asked Allah (SWT) to make him enter
Paradise and to protect him from Fire.
15. The event of karbla:
On the death of Muawiya, when Imam Hussain (as) refused to
oath his allegiance to Yazeed,
He sent Muslim bin Aqeel(ra) to Kufa to find out about the
18,000 apparently ready to take the pledge of his allegiance.
Yazid sent the Amir of Basra, Ibn Ziyaad, to Kufa and the
situation reached a stage where Muslim bin Aqeel was
martyred.

16. While on the way to Kufa and still a few days' journey away from
the city, he received news that the followers of Yazid in Kufa had
put to death the representative of the Imam in that city. The city
and its surroundings were placed under strict observation and
countless soldiers of the enemy were awaiting him
Approximately seventy kilometres from Kufa, in a desert
named Kerbala, the Imam and his followers were surrounded by
the army of Yazid. For eight days they stayed in this spot during
which the circle narrowed and the number of the enemy's army
increased.
17. On the ninth day of the month the last challenge to choose
between "adherence or war" was made by the enemy to the Imam.
The Imam asked for a delay in order to worship overnight and
became determined to enter battle on the next day.
On the tenth day of Muharram of the year 61hijri /680 AD the
Imam lined up before the enemy with his small band of followers,
less than ninety persons consisting of forty of his companions,. That
day they fought from morning until their final breath, the Imam,
the young Hashimites and the companions were all martyred.
18. The army of the enemy, after ending the war, plundered the
Haram of the Imam and burned his tents. They decapitated the
bodies of the martyrs, denuded them and threw them to the
ground without burial.
19. Sayings of the Imam Hussain (R.A.)
"Avoid being cruel to anybody who does not have any
helper except God."
Worst of the people is the one who gives (surrenders) his
dooms day for his world (material gains).
Do not perform any good work for the sake of people's
praise and do not abandon it for fear of shame.
