MCE Lesson on Spiritual purification of the soul

1. He who takes guidance from other than Allah has gone astray. Imam Ali (as)
Not of those who have earned your anger
Or of those who have gone astray
Allah is angry on hypocrites, and who harassed and killed, the Prophets, Imams and the
servants of Allah
Know your Salaat

2. Blessings of Allah on us
• Allah has blessed us with a
capacity to remember
things.
• Imagine if we did not have
this blessing?
• write down passwords,
• Learn how to drive
• Find our way home

3. Our clothes and bodies can get dirty and smelly.
We can easily clean ourselves and
clothes with soap and water

4. OUR SOULS TOO GET DIRTY WITH SINS.
Unfortunately, we cannot use soap and
water to remove these stains

6. When we die, our bodies stop
functioning and remain in the
grave, our souls continue to
exist and go towards the next
stage-Barzakh

7. Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as) said,
‘Each believer has a bright soul.’

8. When he/she commits a sin, a dark dot
appears on his/her bright soul.

9. If he/she repents, the dark dot will
disappear.

10. But if he/she continues to sin, the darkness
will increase..

11. ..until it covers his entire soul. The soul is covered entirely in darkness
of sins . Then, the person will never return towards goodness.’
A soul that is covered in the
darkness of sins, will not be
able guide and the person will
continue to sin and will not be
successful in the hereafter

12. You are successful if your
soul is pure.
The more our soul
becomes pure, the closer
we are to Allah (swt)
A pure soul can guide us
to what is right and avoid
what is wrong

13. What is a sin?
A sin is committed when we do an action that Allah
(swt) has asked us NOT to do
• is when Allah (swt) has made some
things and actions compulsory for
us. They are good for us and will
lead to success
Wajib
• is when Allah (swt) has forbidden
some things and actions. These
things are not good for us and will
put in danger our success.

14. FIRST STEP IN PURIFYING OUR SOULS
WHEN DOING A GOOD DEED, OUR INTENTION (Niyyah)
SHOULD BE THAT THIS IS FOR THE SAKE OF ALLAH (SWT) ONLYAND
TO GET CLOSE TO HIM.
DO NOT DO GOOD DEEDS TO SHOW OFF, OR DO IT TO
IMPRESS SOMEONE OR TO GET CLOSE TO OTHER THAN ALLAH
QURBATAN ILLALAH –MEANS SEAKING NEARNESS TO ALLAH
• THE NEARER WE GET TO ALLAH (SWT) THE MORE PURIFIED
OUR SOULS BECOME

Be aware of our actions. Stop and think if we
are going to doing something that will bring
sins on us. Then we should stop and not go
ahead
Dua is a very powerful tool.
Recite duas asking Allah to forgive
what we have done

which a person washes himself five times a day – cleansing him from all dirt.”
