This document provides instructions for a watercolor practice lesson on creating value scales. Students will create four value scales with nine values each for different colors. To do so, they will: 1. Receive watercolor paper with a grid drawn on it to divide the paper into boxes. 2. Choose a dark shade of one color and paint samples from dark to light in boxes of one strip by adding more water between samples. 3. Repeat for three more strips with different colors, being careful not to touch the box edges. 4. Indicate two strips for the teacher to grade on box size and accurate value representation.
