2. PLATE NO. 11: 6 COLOR WHEEL
AND COMPLEMENTARY PAIRS
Orientation: Portrait
Materials: Pointed Brush, Acrylic Paint (Red,
Blue and Yellow), Mixing Plate, Pencil, Ruler,
Eraser
Procedure:
1) Do the standard margin system for portrait oriented plate and presentation.
2) Create a circle with a diameter of 6 inches and divide into 6 equal parts.
3) Paint Blue, Yellow, and Red in 1 part of the circle, skipping one triangle part after each primary
color.
4) In between mix the color blue and yellow in between blue and yellow parts to produce green,
mix yellow and red in between red and yellow parts to produce orange; lastly, mix red and blue
in between the parts of red and blue to produce either, violet or purple.
5) Create 3 separate boxes below the circle measuring 1.5 x 4 in and divide in the middle (you
will create basically a 1.5x2 box); On the left side of the box color it with primary colors only and
on the right side color it with its complementary secondary color pair. (Blue and Orange, Red
and Green, Yellow and Violet/Purple)

4. PLATE NO. 12: 12 COLOR
WHEEL AND COLOR
TEMPERATURES
Orientation: Portrait
Materials: Pointed Brush, Acrylic Paint (Red,
Blue and Yellow), Mixing Plate, Pencil, Ruler,
Eraser
1) Do the standard margin system and presentation for portrait oriented plate.
2) Draw a 6 inch diameter and divide into 18 parts. Paint each part accordingly similar to plate no. 11.
To create the tertiary colors, add 25% more color on the secondary color, for example: by adding
25% more red in orange will produce red-orange, likewise, by adding 25% more yellow on orange
will create yellow-orange.
3) Below the Color Wheel, create two separate rulers measuring 1.5 x 8 in (the two rulers are separated
by a .25 inch space); Divide each rule into 1.30 in (expect the last to be longer than the others)
forming 6 parts.
4) Color the top ruler with Cool Colors: Green, Blue-Green, Blue, Blue-Purple, Purple, Red Purple.
Color the lower ruler with Warm Colors: Red, Red-Orange, Orange, Yellow-Orange, Yellow, Yellow-
Green
5) Label each ruler as Color Colors and Warm Colors accordingly.

6. GENERAL PROCEDURE FOR PLATES NO. 13 TO 15
1) All plates will be done in Landscape Orientation with its proper margin and presentation
(plate no. title, materials, score and date submitted)
2) After doing the margin divide into 3 parts measuring 2.5 inches in height and 11 inches in
width. On the right side of the rule, place a bar measuring 1 inch and indicate the no. of
brush you used for that area. Divide each ruler lightly with your pencil into .5 inches
3) Each plate will use 3 kinds of brushes in different points (suggested points are any 3 from #1
to #12)
4) The plates are titled as Plate no. 13: Flatbrush Brushstroke Exercises
