Working Title:
Car Chase
Audience:
• Not aiming this game at a specific gender however there are a lot more men who play
games rather than woman. So, if the game naturally appeals to a specific gender I would
try and aim the game towards males. Also, the reason that males may like it more is the
idea of a police car chase centered around action.
• For age I would aim for 16 + as I don’t plan on developing a kid’s game. To differentiate
this idea from a kid’s game I may include some gore*.
• For the psychographics I chose to focus on Explorers because they tend to be the younger
generation below the age of 25 which also shows the largest sector of people who play
video games.
• They also are more likely to be the first people to try a new game or a game which may be
unheard of as they seek discovery
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
• I have previously never attempted anything like this however I am keen to learn as I go
trying different approaches. My only previous photoshop Experience is with editing
photographs and making posters however I have never tried pixel art. Because of this I
plan to keep it simple However if I find that what I plan to do is easy for me I will add more
complex animations. This may be done in levels starting out very basic and after each
level is passed the animations increase in complexity. I have also not tried to apply sound
effect to a video so I will start by adding the basic sounds in and experimenting with them.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
A game which consists of a police car chasing a sports car along roads or other surfaces in a bird
eye view style. This will also consist of 8 levels increasing in difficulty also with slight changes in
design for each level. Also, in game currency which can be used at store to purchase skins for
police cars. For the background I will also include different scenery from countryside lakes to city
beaches. However, it will be stationary while the cars move along the roads in different scenes.
There will also be areas for the car to hide to escape the cop cars, but the main goal is to make it
to the finish line. In the game there will be one car against 1-8 cop cars. For the sound effects I will
need a song along with sound effects for a police car and cars driving sounds. I may also use
other small sounds for specific situations.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plane to evaluate the final product through self-reflection along with peer reviews through asking
people their thoughts on what to improve. I will ask at least 5 people in order to gain a general
sensuous for the feedback along with my opinion.
The evaluation will not only improve the final product but also help improve my skills and find out
what I do well and what I don’t do so well. Some of the skills learnt from this project along with the
evaluation may be useful for the audio project which is next.
