11. Sarah’s Office colleagues including Boss (John)Institutions: We have decided to use the institution ‘Twisted Pictures’ as their most popular genre of film is horror. The most successful and well known film to date they have distributed is the ‘Saw’ collaboration.
12. Discussion of films that have inspired us: Trailers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O76m3kpgPTQ The hills have eyes (2006) We think that ‘The Hills have Eyes’ trailer has a good use of camera angles and different techniques that would have been done during editing. Also the way that they have created tension from the start of the trailer although no reference to any horror scenes, but you know that something is going to happen. The decent Within this trailer we like the wording that is used between some of the shots, and have included this on our storyboard draft. The fact that the majority of the trailer is within a darkened scene creates and atmosphere for the audience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5I1q4KhKNU
13. Discussion of films that have inspired us: Posters The Saw collaboration. This film inspired us as it is the same genre as the film trailer we are creating, secondly our institution that we picked is the same institution that made these films “ twisted pictures”. We like the types of posters that are quite simple although create an atmosphere to attract the correct audience to come and see the film, like these two below. We like the posters that focus on the face of one of the characters within the film so show their emotions. This is the poster that was used to advertise Saw 2, we believe this is a good cover as it makes the audience think about what is going on and what does it mean. The shadowed effect is an idea that we would like to investigate with later on when taking the photos. This poster inspired us because of the way that the audience is drawn into her face and the blood.
14. Outlining idea of our film trailer Auburn Place - Main Setting WORK 1. Girl at work with colleagues 2. Given files to do late that night, she has to stay behind 3. Rings to tell not going to be home late NIGHT 4. See girl working 5. Flash of someone walking by 6. Checks behind her but nobody there HOME 7. Putting food on sister lap and pour drink for disabled sister 8. Washing her hair 9. Put to bed 10. Phone call about working late the next day. Writing on screen WORK 11. Little girl listening to iPod as she has gone work with sister 12. Girls goes back sees sister missing 13. There's a search (fast clips) 14. See's sister at work 15. flashes, screams etc. 16. Title 17. Crossing out on picture. This is Auburn Place which is the main setting in our film trailer. We have chosen this as it worked well before, for the ‘scary’ effect, which would also be a generic convention.
15. Target Audience Our audience will be targeted at adults over the age of 18, because of references of violence, language, etc. We have chosen this age group as our target audience as we think it would appeal to them more, and also we would like to take that extra step further with our trailer from what a 15 certificate would be. It is going to be aimed at both genders, although the trailer may appeal more to the male gender because of the violence, language etc.
16. Institution: Twisted Pictures We have chosen ‘Twisted Pictures’ to distribute our film. The reason for this is because of the existing reputation that they have for creating horror/thriller films. The most popular and successful film they have probably ever distributed is the ‘Saw’ collaboration. We believe that most of the films that they distribute are targeted at a similar age group as of what our film is going to be targeted at.
