1) Listening Skill :
To be a good speaker, be a good listener.
One of four language skills.
It is a psychological process that involves
● Receiver (receiving message)
● Message (constructing meaning from it)
● Sender (responding to messages)
Listening skill is a process of receiving, interpreting and
reacting to a message from the speaker. No conversation is
complete without listening.Thus act of skillful listening is the
basis for developing intelligence.
Hearing and listening are two different terms.
1) Hearing is a physical
response or act to
perceive (understand)
sound through the ear.
2) It is a passive process.
1) Listening requires concentration
so that your brain processes
meaning from words and
sentences. It leads to learning.

2) Speaking skill :
❖ Speaking skill is an ability to convey or express one’s
message, information, ideas, feelings, thoughts,
opinions verbally in suitable manner in front of others
based on different matters.
❖ It is one of the most interactive and productive skill.
❖ It develops understanding through communication.
❖ It also develops inter - personal skills (team working).
3) Reading skill :
★ Reading skill is the ability of an individual to read, comprehend and
interpret written words on any reading material such as books, article,
newspapers etc.
★ It is an integral part of modern life.It helps to discover new things by
enabling to educate yourself in any area or field of life.
★ Henceforth, it develops mind, imagination power, creative thinking in
order to do research.
★ There are strategies of reading comprehension : re- read the text,
activate prior knowledge, infer the meaning, summarize the story, use
context clues, locate key words, visualize properly and evaluate
understanding.

4) Writing skill :
➢ Writing skill is a important and powerful tool used in everyday life.
➢ It includes all the knowledge and abilities related to expressing ideas through the
written word.
➢ Writing is used to store information, make a permanent record, and for
communication.
➢ It can be pictograph- or alphabet-based.
➢ Examples of writing skill : Grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary, clarity,
brevity, engagement, proofreading, revising, professional writing skills, note taking,
letter writing, email writing, MS Office, business writing, communication skills.
