This document discusses the real-time water quality monitoring system for the River Ganga. The objectives are to assess pollution levels, understand how pollutants behave, evaluate effectiveness of controls, and track water quality trends. The network includes over 100 monitoring stations along the main stem and tributaries of the Ganga in 4 states. Stations continuously measure 19 parameters including ammonia, BOD, pH and more. Data is collected, validated, processed and disseminated online for public access. The workshop will discuss experiences with similar projects, available technologies, implementation models and options for CPCB.
