ClO2 IMPLEMENTATION STATUS-Jhajjar
• ClO2 system awarded to M/s Purita Water Solution Pvt Ltd.
• LOA No: IGSTPP/CS/18-19/CRN-3089/LOA-3555 dated: 13.11.2019
• Capacity: 2X80 Kg/hr for CW system and 2X13 Kg/ hr for PT & RO systems
• Indent for NaClO2 (31%) and HCl (30% min) raised.
• Estimated expenditure towards chemicals will be Rs 1 Cr/month.

Unit- startups and preservation: Current
Practices
Shut Down- Preservation
The Sampling lines are kept full open to flushed during shut down.
The boiler is preserved wet and turbine is preserved dry with Instrument air with low RH.
Daily Air vent line sample is analyzed for RH for Turbine.
Periodic recirculation of boiler water is ensured using BCC pumps to homogenize the
chemical concentration dosed.
Start-up
When unit is lit up, the samples lines are hammered in order to clean any blockages.
Boiler is filled from FST and 100% Condensate is polished through CPU.
The clearance for rolling is given on MS silica values below 20ppb.
CBD is kept open till silica remains under limits and reducing trend after synchronization.
Condensate polishing reduced to minimum keeping all the parameters under limit.
Clearance for turbine rolling is recorded at MS silica under 20 ppb and Sodium under 5ppb.
The C&I dry panels are charged for ACC, pH And Conductivity measure.

Steam Water Cycle
• Sampling lines get choked very frequently and chemistry is not getting representative sample when at low
pressures during Unit lit up.
• Portable iron analyser be listed in mandatory equipment's for Fe estimation during start up as per LMI.
Source standardization for such analyzers are to be provided.
Condensate Polishing Unit
• CPU fines removal is a big issue. The ARU vessel is so lengthy that fines does not travel till back wash
outlet line and get re-settled before reaching it. It is evident from the resin samples that a lot of attrition of
resin has taken place.
• Corrosion in Acid alkali dosing pumps and lines are a major issue. The availability of these equipment's
becomes a major constraints at CPU and DM area. Alternatives or action plan to be suggested. CPU acid
dosing lines and tanks are heavily corroded. Need recasting.
CW System:
• Requirement of side screen filters due to high TSS. Limiting value of TSS/ Turbidity in CW Channel.
• NABL Labs for testing treatment chemicals.

Other:
• Vendor enlistment & procurement guidelines for RO & UF cartridges.
• Chemistry team harbingers won Plant level PC in 2020 and stood second in
2022.
• Research paper published in CORCON journal on CW system preservation
during long shut down.
• OS/ NETRA can initiate the NOCET type competition for chemistry executives.
• For FGD-Lime stone 90% and hydrated lime 83% purity specifications,/ PDI &
site inspection/ quality checks guidelines. Manpower requirements.

  • 2. 2 2 ClO2 IMPLEMENTATION STATUS-Jhajjar • ClO2 system awarded to M/s Purita Water Solution Pvt Ltd. • LOA No: IGSTPP/CS/18-19/CRN-3089/LOA-3555 dated: 13.11.2019 • Capacity: 2X80 Kg/hr for CW system and 2X13 Kg/ hr for PT & RO systems • Indent for NaClO2 (31%) and HCl (30% min) raised. • Estimated expenditure towards chemicals will be Rs 1 Cr/month.   • 3. 3 3 Unit- startups and preservation: Current Practices Shut Down- Preservation The Sampling lines are kept full open to flushed during shut down. The boiler is preserved wet and turbine is preserved dry with Instrument air with low RH. Daily Air vent line sample is analyzed for RH for Turbine. Periodic recirculation of boiler water is ensured using BCC pumps to homogenize the chemical concentration dosed. Start-up When unit is lit up, the samples lines are hammered in order to clean any blockages. Boiler is filled from FST and 100% Condensate is polished through CPU. The clearance for rolling is given on MS silica values below 20ppb. CBD is kept open till silica remains under limits and reducing trend after synchronization. Condensate polishing reduced to minimum keeping all the parameters under limit. Clearance for turbine rolling is recorded at MS silica under 20 ppb and Sodium under 5ppb. The C&I dry panels are charged for ACC, pH And Conductivity measure.

  • 7. 7 7 Any other station-specific requirement or agenda/critical constraint Steam Water Cycle • Sampling lines get choked very frequently and chemistry is not getting representative sample when at low pressures during Unit lit up. • Portable iron analyser be listed in mandatory equipment's for Fe estimation during start up as per LMI. Source standardization for such analyzers are to be provided. Condensate Polishing Unit • CPU fines removal is a big issue. The ARU vessel is so lengthy that fines does not travel till back wash outlet line and get re-settled before reaching it. It is evident from the resin samples that a lot of attrition of resin has taken place. • Corrosion in Acid alkali dosing pumps and lines are a major issue. The availability of these equipment's becomes a major constraints at CPU and DM area. Alternatives or action plan to be suggested. CPU acid dosing lines and tanks are heavily corroded. Need recasting. CW System: • Requirement of side screen filters due to high TSS. Limiting value of TSS/ Turbidity in CW Channel. • NABL Labs for testing treatment chemicals.
  • 8. 8 Other: • Vendor enlistment & procurement guidelines for RO & UF cartridges. • Chemistry team harbingers won Plant level PC in 2020 and stood second in 2022. • Research paper published in CORCON journal on CW system preservation during long shut down. • OS/ NETRA can initiate the NOCET type competition for chemistry executives. • For FGD-Lime stone 90% and hydrated lime 83% purity specifications,/ PDI & site inspection/ quality checks guidelines.
