This document discusses an SME MMR research project on centrifugal isotropic finishing of 3D printed metal parts. It includes 3D optical maps of unfinished and finished part surfaces, showing that centrifugal ball finishing processing reduced the surface roughness from 159 microinches to 4.9 microinches. The project is led by Dave Davidson and Jack Clark and aims to develop a hands-free finishing process for 3D printed scrap metal parts.
