The basic rules of rugby are to pass the ball back if unable to advance forward, run with the ball to score points called tries, and immediately release the ball if tackled or bringing an opponent to the ground. There are 15 players per team and games consist of two 40-minute periods with a 5-minute break. Scoring includes 5 points for a try, 2 points for converting a try with an additional kick, and 3 points for dropping the ball over the goal from open play. Lineouts restart play when the ball leaves the field and line judges help indicate this.
