This document provides an annual safety performance review for electrical engineering in the mining industry. It includes statistics on raw coal production, metal production, incidents by event subtype from 1990-2014, electrical incidents from 1999-2014, and initiatives to improve safety, such as explosion protected equipment audits and proximity detection reviews. Key safety issues discussed are electrocutions, earthing systems, and ensuring electrical competency. The review aims to identify trends and drive further safety improvements industry-wide.
