The target of this project was the reconstruction of an abandoned house
situated in a protected zone with Heritage Character Design Guidelines.
The intention was to make the house as light as possible whilst at the
same time to turn the house into residential use. The architect used the

03 PHARMACY
The architect was commissioned to design a pharmacy located in Volos
(Gr).The challenge was to create an outstanding feature in order that it
would standout and become known in the area. In this project the
architect used a lighting element that travelled from pavement to the
roof ending in a cross, this is known as the symbol of a pharmacy in
Greece. The 3D element of the design created a sensation of a larger
space.

05 FOUR STAR STONE HOTEL
Therequirementofthisclientwastoexpandhisexistingcompanyinthe
tourist sector by building a new 4 star hotel in the mountain of Pelion
(GR). As the land was outside of the village of Portaria the idea was to
create a new building with all the necessary services. The project
involves a restaurant, café, store with local products and fully equipped
apartments. The materials that were selected are stone and wood in
order to go blend with the old village nearby. The land is situated in a
protected zone with very strict Heritage Character Design Guidelines.
Therefore, the design solutions were limited. However, the project
achieves all the requirements of a 4star hotel whilst fulfilling all neces-
sary specifications including those for special needs and disabilities.

08 ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Archaeology in Greece can be compared to the relationship of
mother and child… giving life again to the buried ruins. In
Elikoneion Museum the idea was to create a ‘’reverse archaeolo-
gy’’ and that was to build an under - earth museum where the
archaeological findings go back into the earth. In an area with
extraordinary archaeological findings and bound by the beauty
and the importance of a Greek theatre of the classical period and
a Roman Aqueduct which were the core of the archaeological
area, the project respected these values and brought the site to
life making their existence more visible.
The design archetypes of the Theatre and the Aqueduct formed
the plan of the Museum… The other guidelines were the
Archetypes of the Mycenaean era and Greek tombs that were
found in the area which formed the rest of the project. The
particular elements that characterize Elikoneion museum project
are: the fact that the museum is underground, the tholos input
and the bright path which incorporates the curved part of the
auditoriumandescapingtotheaqueductbecomingtheexitofthe
museum.
Our desire to allegory, the choice to make the underground
museum comes from the fact that not so large theatre will make
even less if behind it had created a compact building. On the
contrary the path- "aqueduct" which appears as a prospect
behind the theatre, having as form a curve that is born from the
centre of 'orchestra, just as the curve of the auditorium exalts
even more the existence of the theatre. Continuing the theme of
this curved path, with its large openings, we can say that it not
only takes the form of 'aqueduct but also its function: for us
instead of water brings light and air in our museum by creating
spaces where the brightness and darkness oppose, the museum
where the exit permits the outside world comes in, not only to
visit but also for make it work, breathe and illuminate it. Without
these contrasts have been impossible to create sensations, it
would be a space without a soul, a real grave. Now the tomb
breathes, there is the game between the two worlds, that of the
past and the present, that of the darkness and the light.
Eventually,butnotbecauseitisofminorimportancethetholosat
the entrance of our museum also has a great relationship with
the fact of being underground, given that absolutely takes the
shape of the tombs.

09 OUTDOOR EXHIBITION
TheprojectconcernedthetransformationofasquareinLivorno(IT)that
is used as an open parking area into an open exposition space. The
master plan idea was to transform the history of the place in forms …The
selected elements were as follows:
Water: As Livorno is full of canals
Wood & Sailing fabric: As Livorno was a navy commercial center.
Metallic structure: That represents the wind that comes from the sea.
Concrete panels: That are representing the Venetian fortification
system (Fortezza).
The wind outlines the start of the exhibition…the visitor enjoys the
exhibition by a walk in a wooden deck spatial covert by sailing fabric,
then the exhibition continues in the Fortezza where a labyrinth of solid
concrete panels were created in order to change the feelings of the
visitor as they walked through a totally different space.

This exam of landscape design took place in the University of Florence
(IT). The overall concept was to create a new urban green space and
meeting area in Florence. The project contains a linear space “garden”
that guides to an open theatre where people can meet. The project
incorporates aspects of architecture, botany and soil sciences. In
addition the exam was all presented with hand draw designs as the pc
evolution wasn’t so strong in 2002, this made even stronger the contact
between the architect and the project as every tree was designed
carefully in hand.

  • 22. 08 ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM Archaeology in Greece can be compared to the relationship of mother and child… giving life again to the buried ruins. In Elikoneion Museum the idea was to create a ‘’reverse archaeolo- gy’’ and that was to build an under - earth museum where the archaeological findings go back into the earth. In an area with extraordinary archaeological findings and bound by the beauty and the importance of a Greek theatre of the classical period and a Roman Aqueduct which were the core of the archaeological area, the project respected these values and brought the site to life making their existence more visible. The design archetypes of the Theatre and the Aqueduct formed the plan of the Museum… The other guidelines were the Archetypes of the Mycenaean era and Greek tombs that were found in the area which formed the rest of the project. The particular elements that characterize Elikoneion museum project are: the fact that the museum is underground, the tholos input and the bright path which incorporates the curved part of the auditoriumandescapingtotheaqueductbecomingtheexitofthe museum. Our desire to allegory, the choice to make the underground museum comes from the fact that not so large theatre will make even less if behind it had created a compact building. On the contrary the path- "aqueduct" which appears as a prospect behind the theatre, having as form a curve that is born from the centre of 'orchestra, just as the curve of the auditorium exalts even more the existence of the theatre. Continuing the theme of this curved path, with its large openings, we can say that it not only takes the form of 'aqueduct but also its function: for us instead of water brings light and air in our museum by creating spaces where the brightness and darkness oppose, the museum where the exit permits the outside world comes in, not only to visit but also for make it work, breathe and illuminate it. Without these contrasts have been impossible to create sensations, it would be a space without a soul, a real grave. Now the tomb breathes, there is the game between the two worlds, that of the past and the present, that of the darkness and the light. Eventually, butnotbecauseitisofminorimportancethetholosat the entrance of our museum also has a great relationship with the fact of being underground, given that absolutely takes the shape of the tombs. • 28. This exam of landscape design took place in the University of Florence (IT). The overall concept was to create a new urban green space and meeting area in Florence. The project contains a linear space “garden” that guides to an open theatre where people can meet. The project incorporates aspects of architecture, botany and soil sciences. In addition the exam was all presented with hand draw designs as the pc evolution wasn’t so strong in 2002, this made even stronger the contact between the architect and the project as every tree was designed carefully in hand. 10 MARTINI Florence (Italy) Landscape Exam in the University of Florence Concrete, Stone 2003 Design location client materials year charge of 55
