Results found the traditional method overcosts the product by Rs. 6.82 per unit while ABC more accurately calculates the cost as Rs. 136.68 per unit. The study recommends Vikash Industries adopt ABC to better control costs and integrate with continuous improvement programs. ABC will provide more accurate product costs to support decision-making.

that a company should know about barriers of AMT & their inter relationship if they wanted to accomplish more
in the organisation with tea work and get more busy from the employees. It is important that all workers know
the vision and goal why a company is implementing AMT. Advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) has
been viewed strategic weapon to gain competitive advantages by manufacturing organisation .
The small and medium scale industries (SMISs) are under increasing pressure to adopt advanced manufacturing
technology to be competitive or simply to survive. The successful implementation of AMT will requires the
companies to have a workforce with higher level of skills, a flexible organizational structure and include a new
culture in managing and training a workforce in the manufacturing industries. The ability of the workers to run

The proposed framework has synthesized previous studies and integrated related studies through conducting a
complete literature review. This paper is a theoretical construction that synthesizes previous studies .this model
can provide managers with practical solutions through granting in depth understanding of whole internal
external technological and environmental and awarding empirical insight into overcoming barriers to the
adoption and implementation of AMT.

Advanced manufacturing technology adoption in manufacturing companies in kenyaeSAT Journals
Abstract Over the past few decades, manufacturing has evolved from a more labor-intensive set of mechanical processes to a sophisticated set of information based technology processes. With the existence of various advanced manufacturing technologies (AMTs), more and more functions or jobs are performed by these machines instead of human labour. This study was undertaken in order to research the extent of AMTs adoption in manufacturing companies in Kenya. In order to investigate a survey was conducted via questionnaires that were sent to 183 selected AMT manufacturing companies in Kenya. 92 companies responded positively. All the surveyed companies were found to have a measure of investment in at least two of the 14 types of AMTs investigated. In general the company surveyed showed that the level of AMT adoption in Kenya is very low with investments levels at a mean of 2.057 and integration levels at a mean of 1.639 in a scale of 1-5. Modelling Production Performance of Small Scale Production PlantIJAEMSJORNAL
This document presents a study that developed a model to evaluate capacity utilization (CU) of small-scale production plants. The model considers key inputs like plant operators, capital, research and development spending, energy usage, and machinery maintenance expenditures. The dependent variable is CU of the plant. The model is tested on a small-scale water production plant. Results show the plant's average CU was 74% over six months. All inputs were positively correlated to CU, with major inputs significantly contributing to it. The model explained about 80% of CU with inputs. The model's estimated outputs were within 2% of actual recorded outputs. The model was found to be statistically significant and useful for small-scale plants to evaluate production performance.

This paper represents the methodology applied in increasing the OEE of an Organization by exchanging the feed mechanism from a conveyor to a Chute system.
Modelling Production Performance of Small Scale Production PlantIJAEMSJORNAL
This document presents a study that developed a model to evaluate capacity utilization (CU) of small-scale production plants. The model considers key inputs like plant operators, capital, research and development spending, energy usage, and machinery maintenance expenditures. The dependent variable is CU of the plant. The model is tested on a small-scale water production plant. Results show the plant's average CU was 74% over six months. All inputs were positively correlated to CU, with major inputs significantly contributing to it. The model explained about 80% of CU with inputs. The model's estimated outputs were within 2% of actual recorded outputs. The model was found to be statistically significant and useful for small-scale plants to evaluate production performance.

The model provides a tool for managers to accurately allocate resources for energy-saving activities based on appropriate cost drivers.

A methodology for improving enterprise performance by
analysing worker capabilities via simulation

In this paper we outline a methodology for improving the overall performance of
small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) by analysing worker capabilities
through simulation and modelling. We firstly examine key performance indica-
tors (KPIs) of the SME in its as-is state. The primary KPIs we examine are the
resource constraint metrics (RCMs) and customer misery index (CMI). The
RCMs help to identify the skill that is the biggest contributor to the overall
system constrainedness. The CMI is a measure of customer demand satisfaction.
By increasing the supply of the most heavily constrained skill we should increase
the flow of work orders through the system, which will in turn result in a reduced
CMI, or at least provide a potential for more work orders to flow through the
system. We run a set of experiments on data from a real factory, which upgrades
the skill sets of workers with the most heavily constrained skill, and then we look
at the system improvement. The overall impact of this experimental methodology
is that it can make recommendations to an organisation about which worker to
upgrade with which skill, and how the training should be implemented, to yield
the optimal improvement to the enterprise.

1. Introduction
Managing directors of SMEs (small to medium sized enterprises) consistently find
personnel capability a limiting factor in influencing key performance measures.
Consequently worker training is viewed as an important tactical decision scenario for
an organisation. Previous research has shown that the implementation of training
programmes in companies can yield substantial productivity gains (Bartel 1994), and is
important for a company’s growth and its ability to stay competitive (Mital et al. 1999).
As part of our research we carried out a survey on 40 SME owner-managers on whether
or not a computer aid such as simulation would be a useful tool for making a decision
on worker training. The results are shown in Figure 1. Over 80% of participants either
agreed or strongly agreed that a computer tool that could rank candidate workers based
on the improvements they could bring to the enterprise would be useful in making a
decision on worker training.

This study examines factors affecting adoption and implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in discrete manufacturing companies in India. A survey was conducted of 30 manufacturing companies. The results suggest ERP is more likely to be adopted if production characteristics are compatible with ERP capabilities. However, statistical analysis showed the decision-maker's computer knowledge was more important than other factors, including production characteristics, in the decision to adopt ERP. The factors affecting implementation level were less clear. Contrary to expectations, manufacturing method did not appear significant in this sample.

This paper deals with the applications of optimization principle in optimizing
profits of a production industry using linear programming to examine the production
cost and determine its optimal profit. Linear programming is an operation research
technique which is widely used in finding solutions to managerial decision problems.
However, many enterprises make more use of the trial-and-error method. As such,
firms have been finding it difficult in allocating scarce resources in a manner that will
ensure profit maximization and/or cost minimization.
This paper makse use of secondary data collected from the records of the
Landmark University Bakery on five types of bread produced in the firm which
include Family loaf, sliced family bread, Chocolate loaf, medium size bread, small
size bread. A problem of this nature was identified as a linear programming problem,
formulated in Mathematical terms and solved using AMPL software. The solution
obtained revealed that Landmark bakery unit should concentrate much more in
production of 14,000 loaves of Family loaf and 10,571 loaves of Chocolate bread
while others type should be less produced since their value is turning to zero in order
to achieve a maximum monthly profit of N1,860,000. From the analysis, it was
observed that Family loaf and the Chocolate bread contributed objectively to the
profit. Hence, more of Family loaf and Chocolate bread are needed to be produced
and sold in order to maximize the profit

Using data from 41 years in Patna’ India’ the study’s goal is to analyze the trends of how often it rains on a weekly, seasonal, and annual basis (1981−2020). First, utilizing the intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) curve and the relationship by statistically analyzing rainfall’ the historical rainfall data set for Patna’ India’ during a 41 year period (1981−2020), was evaluated for its quality. Changes in the hydrologic cycle as a result of increased greenhouse gas emissions are expected to induce variations in the intensity, length, and frequency of precipitation events. One strategy to lessen vulnerability is to quantify probable changes and adapt to them. Techniques such as log-normal, normal, and Gumbel are used (EV-I). Distributions were created with durations of 1, 2, 3, 6, and 24 h and return times of 2, 5, 10, 25, and 100 years. There were also mathematical correlations discovered between rainfall and recurrence interval.
Findings: Based on findings, the Gumbel approach produced the highest intensity values, whereas the other approaches produced values that were close to each other. The data indicates that 461.9 mm of rain fell during the monsoon season’s 301st week. However, it was found that the 29th week had the greatest average rainfall, 92.6 mm. With 952.6 mm on average, the monsoon season saw the highest rainfall. Calculations revealed that the yearly rainfall averaged 1171.1 mm. Using Weibull’s method, the study was subsequently expanded to examine rainfall distribution at different recurrence intervals of 2, 5, 10, and 25 years. Rainfall and recurrence interval mathematical correlations were also developed. Further regression analysis revealed that short wave irrigation, wind direction, wind speed, pressure, relative humidity, and temperature all had a substantial influence on rainfall.
Originality and value: The results of the rainfall IDF curves can provide useful information to policymakers in making appropriate decisions in managing and minimizing floods in the study area.

helps in applying simulation system model which could be used as
before an existing system is altered or a new system built, to reduce
the chances of failure to meet specifications, to eliminate unforeseen
bottlenecks, to prevent under or over-utilization of resources, and to
optimize system performance.
Material and Methods
The study was conducted by considering different materials
and methods to achieve the goal of this study. The literature reviews
and arena software applications were utilized to come up with good
solution. Simulation, in particular discrete event simulation, has
still not gain industries wide acceptance as decision support tool for
performance evaluation. The researchers have provided the example of
the application of discrete event simulation in evaluating performance
of a production line in the case company. The data was collected from
an Ethiopian Plastic industry production line and the simulation model
is built using arena software simulation. A simulation model provides
a visual animation of the line to see how product will flow through
the line. An ARENA®
simulation model was developed, verified, and
validated to determine the daily production and potential problem
areas for the various production levels in the plastic industry.
Discussion and Results
Production process flow
In general, there are 5 main workshops in Ethiopia plastic industry.
Rawmaterialsintheformofgardenhoseandmasterbatcharesuppliedby
foreign countries like Asia and in domestic like Elsewady Cables Ethiopia
and directed to raw material store for storing and quality checking.
They will be sent to two operating process continuous and injection
section and turn on heat treatment and take the melted plastic with
screw thread then forced into mold. The bundle will be prepared by
hauloof. After the product is finished it will be inspected and then
packaging will be done. Finally; the product will be kept in finishing
storage as shown in Figure 1. The other process is continues (extrusion)
process flow which begins at raw material receiving, and balling unit
machine as indicated by Figure 2.
Data analysis
The collected data through the means of interviews, direct
observation and company document review were analyzed. Fitting

Model formulation
In modeling design the type of analysis is performed on workers
and machine performance. The products that are selected are the one
those most often produced. They are considered as one of the main
products of Ethiopia Plastic Industry in this case company. The working
period in Ethiopia Plastic Industry is five days and a half day within
eight working hour consideration. This means the working days from
Monday to Friday 8:00 working hours and on Saturday 4:00 working
hours are utilized in the company. The three models for the arena
simulations are workers distribution models, continuous extrusion
models, and injection models as shown in Figures 4-6.
Model verification
Verification assesses the correctness of the formal representation
of the intended model, by inspecting computer code and test runs, and
performing consistency checks on their statistics [20]. More specifically,
verification consists in the main of the following activities:
Inspecting simulation program logic.
✓✓ Performing simulation test runs and inspecting sample path
trajectories. In particular, in a visual simulation environment
(like Arena), the analyst inspects both code printouts as well as
graphics to verify (as best one can) that the underlying program
logic is correct.
✓✓ Performing simple consistency checks, including sanity checks
as well as more sophisticated checks of theoretical relations hips
among predicted statistics.
✓✓ In simulation modeling, each part of model run with different
set of inputs and the obtained outputs were compared by using
throughputs and little’s formula with real outputs.
Model validation
Validation activities are critical to the construction of credible
models. The standard approach to model validation is to collect
data (parameter values, performance metrics, etc.) from the system
under study, and compare them to their model counter parts. These
parameters will prove the validity of the data and simulation.
Number of replication estimation
A good design of simulation replications allows the analyst to
obtain the most statistical information from simulation runs for the
least computational cost. In particular, minimizing the number of
replications and their length is necessary to obtain reliable statistics.
In order to decide the number of replication the model must run some
initial set of replication so that sample average, standard deviation and
confidence interval are computed. This initial set of replication is shown
in Table 4.

which type of distribution to use, the authors have compared the
square error of each distribution. The larger the square error value, the
further away the fitted distribution is from the actual data. The data was
analyzed by using real recorded time from the operation areas of the
selected product in the case company section. These data supported the
analysis of validation, verification and number of replication estimation
as discussed in the next sections [7].
Model assumption
In Ethiopia Plastics Industry, there are three shifts per day. Workers
distribution through the specified time per shifts can be delayed by
different kind of incidents. The actual working time for whole system
is 8:00 working hours per day. Since it is not expected that a person
will work without some interruptions, the operators may take time for
their personal needs. Assumptions are taken for modeling the variation
of workers performance at time to rest, machine failure, and power
off. The model for one shifts are modeled and analyzed. In the study
only polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe line is selected. Raw material is
assumed as a constant input, no interruption of operation is occurred in
continuous and random for injection. The manufacturer working time
is 8:00 working hours per day. Distribution is fitted to input analyzer;
it evaluates the distribution’s parameter and calculates a number of
measures of the data. In order to select which type of distribution is
used, the author has compared the square error of each distribution.
The larger the square error value, the further away the fitted distribution
is from the actual data (19). Therefore the following fit all summary
orders in worker performance distribution from smallest to largest
square error. From the table it can be seen that triangular is the one
with smallest square error and thus it is selected. Line indicates that the
data normal distribution and the blocks are the actual data’s situation
histogram expression when compared to the normal distribution. The
normal distribution is skewed to the right (Tables 1-3, Figure 3 [18,19]).

Conclusion
In this study worker and machine performance in manufacturing
system using simulation has been used. The simulation is done by using
Arena software. The performance measure used is throughput and it is
directly related to waiting time; work in process, resource or capacity
utilization. Simulation models were built for the continuous (extrusion)
and injection workshops separately and finally a model is prepared
for the purpose of conducting the computer based simulation. The
problems identified are the throughput time from the existing system is
low because of occurrence of bottlenecks, and waiting time identified.
Workers agent should be assigned on the machinery and workers
performance to focus on each operating system due that the number
of recycle products can be reduced. Otherwise, the company continues
like this for a long time and it will be difficult for them to compete in
today’s market. Therefore, to improve the existing performance of the
company, resource utilization improvement is a mandatory.
