• 95% believe that that youth today have easy access to drugs3
• Research shows 30% of people with a mental illness will have
a substance abuse problem in their lifetime and 53% who
abuse drugs will have a mental illness. 4

The mother can have up to two children with her, aged
between 0 and 6 years
One year follow-up at the Habitations Communautaires
Portage is available
Specialised and unique therapeutic community adapted to the
needs of mothers and their children
Psychological and physical security
Women can keep her family together while seeking drug
addiction treatment
Treatment is conducted in a warm and caring environment
A highly qualified and multidisciplinary team will take care of
the mother and her child/children throughout your
treatment

Daily therapy groups on substance abuse and parenting
Socio-cultural and recreational activities for both mothers
and children
Individual case management
Family support
Daycare services adapted to the needs of the children

Mentally Ill Chemical Abusers
(MICA)

Orientation
Introduction to the program structure during outpatient phase of four to six weeks.
Participants spend the day at the centre from Monday to Friday.
Residential Phase
Approximately six months, depending on the individual’s needs
Community meetings and psycho-educational groups
Workshops
Socio-cultural and recreational activities
Development of social competencies
Transition Phase
While still living in residence, participants spend six weeks developing an exit plan in
preparation for reintegration into mainstream society.
Participants are active in society : volunteer work, education, employment
Aftercare Follow-up
External support groups and individual counselling are available

Eliminate the abusive consumption of drugs
and alcohol
Gain a better understanding of one's mental illness

I have the right to say what I feel Program length from 6 to 8 months, based on individual need The mother can have up to two children with her, aged between 0 and 6 years One year follow-up at the Habitations Communautaires Portage is available Specialised and unique therapeutic community adapted to the needs of mothers and their children Psychological and physical security Women can keep her family together while seeking drug addiction treatment Treatment is conducted in a warm and caring environment A highly qualified and multidisciplinary team will take care of the mother and her child/children throughout your treatment

I have the right to say what I feel Orientation Introduction to the program structure during outpatient phase of four to six weeks. Participants spend the day at the centre from Monday to Friday. Residential Phase Approximately six months, depending on the individual’s needs Community meetings and psycho-educational groups Workshops Socio-cultural and recreational activities Development of social competencies Transition Phase While still living in residence, participants spend six weeks developing an exit plan in preparation for reintegration into mainstream society. Participants are active in society : volunteer work, education, employment Aftercare Follow-up External support groups and individual counselling are available
