This document provides information about Ms. Chin's 7th grade English classroom. It lists the class periods and required supplies. It outlines the tardy policy, the grading policy which weights summative assessments at 60% and formative at 40%, and the late work policy allowing students 1-2 days per absence to make up work for partial or full credit. 3. Required Supplies:
•100-sheet composition book
•Two-pocket folder (any color)
• Notebook paper
• Blue/Black Pen or Pencil
*Kleenex donations will be greatly appreciated.

4. •Homework will be assigned as needed to
complete class work. Class work may include daily
activities and/or major assignments.

5. First Tardy: Verbal Warning to Student
Second Tardy: Verbal Warning to Student
Phone Call to Parent/Guardian
Third Tardy: Office Referral

6. The NISD English Department grading policy:
• 60% Summative assessments
• major papers, tests, projects, assessments
that assess mastery
• 40% Formative assessments
• benchmarks, homework, assignments that
assess progress

7. • It is the student’s responsibility to ask for and complete make-up
work when absent.
• Make-up work must be completed in a timely manner (within one
day for each day absent).
• Consideration will be taken in cases of extended absences.
• Students will be given a minimum of 2 days for every day absent
to complete make-up assignments.
• This holds true for both excused and unexcused absences.

8. • Formative assessments can be turned in/corrected within a
reasonable time frame for a maximum grade of 75%.
• Summative assessments can be turned in/corrected for full credit.
• It is the student’s responsibility to turn in late assignments.
