School Supplies Required Supplies: Pen/Pencil Notebook Paper Composition Book or Spiral Notebook Folder with Pockets and Brads
Homework  Students are required to  read outside of school  for a minimum of  100 minutes  per week.  Students will be responsible for choosing their reading materials and dividing their reading time according to their individual schedules.  Reading logs will be turned in weekly  to track student progress and to provide opportunities for students to reflect on what they have read.  Parent/Guardian signatures are encouraged

Grading Policy The NISD Reading Department grading policy is as follows:   50% Formative Assessments (7 th  Grade 40%) Benchmarks Homework Assignments that assess progress   50% Summative Assessments  (7 th  Grade 60%) Tests  Major papers or projects  Assignments that assess mastery District Benchmark Assessments are given  twice  during the school year
Make-Up Work  Students will be given a minimum of 2 days for every day absent to complete make-up assignments. This holds true for both excused and unexcused absences.
Formative assessments  can be turned in/corrected within a reasonable time frame for a maximum grade of 75% Summative assessments  can be turned in/corrected for full credit
