200 Word Essay On Respect
Crafting a 200-word essay on respect may seem deceptively simple, given the brevity of the
word limit. However, distilling a meaningful and comprehensive exploration of the concept
within such constraints is a challenging task. Respect is a multifaceted topic that spans various
dimensions—cultural, interpersonal, and self-respect, among others. Conveying a nuanced
understanding of respect demands thoughtful selection of words and careful structuring of ideas
to capture the essence succinctly.
The challenge lies not only in defining respect but also in exploring its significance and
manifestations across different contexts. Balancing conciseness with depth requires precision in
language and clarity in conveying ideas. Additionally, choosing examples that resonate
universally within the tight word limit adds another layer of complexity.
Despite its apparent simplicity, the task demands a profound understanding of respect and
effective communication skills. Every word becomes pivotal, and the essay must strike a
harmonious chord between brevity and substance.
In conclusion, the difficulty in composing a 200-word essay on respect lies in navigating the
delicate balance between comprehensive coverage and the stringent word limit. It challenges the
writer to distill complex ideas into a concise yet impactful form, requiring finesse in both
conceptualization and expression.

Football Should Not Be In High School Essay
Football should not be done away with in high school because it tends to build
character, is good for some of the players future, and brings community together.
Letting go of football or any other sport in high school would make a great impact on
school life. Sports tend to help students be better people, do well on school work and
set a good example for others to follow.
Players in football teams build character by learning how to work together and
experiencing the state of winning or losing. It teaches young men the dedication it
takes to make something you want happen. Coaches push these athletes almost
completely to the max so they ll see for themselves how much effort is put into
obtaining a longing goal. Football players develop social skills and begin to have
more respect for others around them no matter who they are. Not only do they learn
life skills they also start to see themselves as a positive images boosting their self
esteem.
Outstanding football players have the opportunity to get a scholarship based on
their playing abilities. This can set them for a really bright future. On average
professional athletes with a 10 year contract get paid 27.5 million dollars a year.
Being one of these players is obviously not for everyone. However, the ones that are

Of course, people from all around are not going to come and watch a high school
play football but the ones that will come are in the community. Many love watching
football games and supporting their favorite local high school. At those games,
people are able to interact with others allowing them to make new friends. This helps
create unity among a particular community. Community is important because of all
the benefits that come with it. More and more people will help fund school activities
and this will allow new doors to open to students. Besides that, a person is better off
in a community than by
Roman Concepts of Military Leadership Essay
Leadership can be defined as the process of influencing people by providing
purpose, direction and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and
improving the organization. While the wording comes from the United States
Army s Leadership manual, the same principles applied to the men who served in
the Roman army, both the Republic and the Empire. From 508 BC to 1453 the
Roman s would be a considered a superpower in the world with all roads leading to
Rome as the old proverb explains. A superpower is maintained with a strong
military and Rome was no exception. During her reign, Rome saw a vast number of
generals and leaders that would stand out over time. Three of these leaders would be

Trajan would continue to move across towards Decealus and his armies, building
roads, bridges and forts to engage his enemy. Trajan s forces did not have a grand
victory initially. The Dacian s resisted his efforts and the weather played into the
enemy hands as Trajan and his forces took heavy casualties. Cassius Dio reported
that Trajan used his own robes to help make bandages for his wounded, and had an
altar and funeral rites in honor of his fallen. While Decebalus may have claimed
victory in the first Battle of Tapae, the second Battle of Tapae would belong to
Trajan, pushing Decebalus and his forces back. Decebalus would have some
success with hit and run type tactics, as he knew better than to attack the heavily
fortified Roman camps and attempted a winter campaign to try and relieve some of
the pressure that Trajan s forces had put on his. The true Roman tenacity would
again come to the forefront, as Decebalus retreated to the mountains to resist, but
Trajan s forces would isolate these strongpoints and take them down one by one.
Trajan would return to Rome to celebrate his Truimp in 102 AD after defeating
Decebalus who is seen on the column dedicated to Trajan s victory kneeling and
begging for mercy. Trajan showed Decebalus mercy and he would come to regret it,

Research Paper On Animal Shelter
If an animal shelter was dangerously low on supplies for their animals then
someone needs to help them out. Giving donations to them would be the right thing
to do. It would be awful if you just had to throw the animals out on the street after
being taken care of for so long. They wouldn t know what to do or how to take care
of themselves. The other option would be to throw all of them in the pound and we
all know what happens whenever poor helpless animals get thrown in the pound.
Usually the animalsget put down, as in killed, whenever they do not get adopted in a
certain amount of time. One good reason to give the community animal shelter
donations is so the animals don t have to live on the street when they do not have any
other place to wonder to. An animals should never have to endure that kind of pain,

Dropping you re poor pet off at some random location is never the right choice. Just
because you can t afford to take care of your pet anymore does not mean you can t
afford to send them to an animal shelter? Without animal shelter there would be so
many more stray animals out on the street, not knowing what to do or how to get
food. The last and final reason why we should start giving donations to this animal
shelter is because there are some animals out there that will never have a home or
that doesn t even know what a family is. An animal shelter would provide a place
to call home. Without food and supplies these people need to take care of these
animals, there will be no animal shelter. And all of these reasons I just listed for you
would come true. The animals that are in the animals shelter right now would be
homeless and without a place to call home. No animal should have to go through

In 1992, sales units in faucet mounts are 3 times more than those in pitchers. It seems
that Brita had tried to take the market share from faucet mounts system at first. They
might struggle to inform customer with pitcher system s benefits, so they could be
known as a consideration set. And after that, as people s needs for purified water
were growing, they could enlarge their market.

(1)Product
In fact, Brita has focused their R D into the taste of water not the technology of
purification. If they focused on the numerically expressed technology, it might be
easily threatened by competitors with better number. They targeted their purification
system with emotional and sensitive benefits (abstract but in comparable) not
functional competition.
And they set up the efficient business model, could make customer loyalty with

They kept insisting trustful price. They reimburse retailers not to feature the price
below their MAP(minimum advertised price).

drug stores.

The Gap Between Medicaid And Medicaid Essay
We all have this confusion between Medicaid and Medicare some people don t
know the difference between the two or don t even know what either of them are.
The Federal government has two different programs to provide health insurance
coverage to citizens in the United States, which are Medicare and Medicaid. The
two programs, while helpful to those individuals who qualify, are not available to
everyone. I m here to briefly explain and discuss the two programs, their
similarities, and their differences and hopefully get people to understand each
program. This become important in our lives because once we reach the age limit
of where we can t provide or take care of our illnesses these programs come into
play on your health care options. This topic I choose has a big connection into our
class because this is something we need to be aware of when it our time to retire
and know that we have some type of insurance to support with our health. Once we
get to the age where we can pay for things we need the Medicareor Medicaid program
to help us get the care that we worked hard for and most importantly deserve. First, I
would like to start off with Medicare. President Johnson signed the Title XVIII of the
Social Security Act, known as Medicare, into a law on July 30, 1965 with full
coverage in the beginning of 1966. To qualify for Medicare you have to be 65 and
older, people who are under the age of 65 with certain disabilities, and people of all
ages with End Stage Renal Disease,
What Is The Significance Of The Globe Theatre
The Globe Theatre is an open air playhouse which is considered one of the most
famous theatres in the world. Many of Shakespeare s plays were written so that they
could be performed in the theatre, and he was a part of the company that constructed
and owned it. The theatre was built during a time whereby there was an entertainment
vacuum in London, and was thus hugely popular amongst the masses for the variety
of plays that graced its stage. Unfortunately, it was shut down and demolished in less
than a hundred years but it remains as one of theatrical history s most significant
icons.
Shakespeare s Globe Theatre was originally an Elizabethan theatre that was built in
1599 in London, and it was named as such due to the fact that Shakespeare wrote
multiple plays which were staged there. It was one of the major theatres in the area it
was built in (Southwark) along with the Rose Theatre, Hope Theatre and Swan
Theatre. As a dramatist, Shakespeare was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is presumably Lord Chamberlain s Men s motto, and it was paired with a logo
that depicted Hercules carrying the world (the globe) on his shoulders. The theatre s
third level housed a small structure supported by columns from the stage, and this
was where announcements were made and flags which advertised new plays were
flown here.
Shakespeare s Globe Theatre was truly the most magnificent theatre that was built
in its time, and a replica of it exists today in the same location it was originally built
in. Other replicas such as the Panasonic Globe Theatre in Tokyo have also been built
around the world, albeit not as accurate as the first one in Southwark is. This
effectively proves how iconic the Globe Theatre is in our world, both in the past and
present. Hence, one can anticipate the theatre s strong foothold over architectural
design for new theatres for generations to

Appearance:
This bird has a striking appearance of a series of round feathers that adorn the bird s
body, giving it the illusion of having scales. Their legs are built to run and evade
predators, as the grasslands themselves are open with not a lot of trees or logs to
hide. Their wingspan averages 14 15 inches.
Classified Name: Callipepla squamata
Other Names: This bird is found in several other states such as Texas, Kansas, and
New Mexico to name a few. Therefore, this bird goes by other names as well, with
popular ones such as cotton top ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will primarily eat seeds and plants, so they affect the amount of seeds in the
area. If they were to decrease in size, the number of insects and grain would rise.
Because they are prey, they must take advantage of the tall grasses to hide from
predators such as raccoons, coyotes, foxes, and even other birds of prey that include
some eagles and falcons.
Consumer Type:
Scaled Quails largely live off of seeds and plants such as roots and weeds. They also
eat lots of seeds and some grains. With their diet of both plants and insects, they are
an omnivore. They are a forager for greens (grasses, roots and weeds) as it supports
them.
Range:
This type of quail likes desert like environments, so they take to the states of Kansas,
Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico, states all known for their grasslands
and dry climates.
Types of Symbiotic Relationships
Service Mutualism: The scaled quail has many relationships, ranging from it s diet
to environment. The scaled quail will take the seeds and other plants it finds to
survive. In turn, the bird will help spread the seeds, allowing opportunity for new
growth for the plant. Overall, this in itself is a mutualistic relationship, as the birds
gets a means of food and helps the plant by spreading its seeds. Since it helps the
plant transport it s seeds, it belongs in the category of service mutualism. The scaled
quail will use any available cover it runs across. Thus, a
The Pros And Cons Of The Eugenics Movement
In the 19th century progressive era the idea of eugenics began to take form and
became a widely spread political, scientific, and social movement. Throughout history
there have been numerous political leaders and scientist who have sought to alter the
human race to design a purer society. The thoughts of purifying humans can be
mostly commonly associated with the Holocaust which was one of the lowest points
in the history of civilization. Similarly, in ideas The EugenicsMovement focused on
mitigating undesirable traits from generation to generation. The idea that
improvement of human kind like breeding can t be left up to nature, but with the use
of the eugenics program it would better society. By sterilizing the mentally ill and
feeble minded, eugenicists goals were to better public health, restrict immigration,
and regulate reproduction. In these efforts, the movement sought to isolate the pure
American genes and save them from being tainted by bad genes.
Bettering the public health of America falls under negative eugenics. Eliminating
people with genetic diseases, disabilities, and disorders was the goal to controlling
public health. Harry Hamilton Laughlin was a popular American Eugenicist who
greatly contributed to eugenics policy. He advocated for compulsory sterilization of
the unfit to be spread throughout America and for laws to be placed in all states. In
his primary source, he states that [s]terilization prevents the transmission of their
weaknesses to children,
Maupassant s The Necklace
In Guy de Maupassant s The Necklace Mathilde Loisel, a middle class housewife,
fantasizes about leading a life of wealth. Mme. Loisel is a proud woman. She feels
herself born for all the delicacies and all the luxuries . Since she was born into a
middle class family, she lacks access to the comforts of an upper class life.
Thinking that her beauty should earn her a higher place in society, she is
discontent. She stopped seeing her wealthy former schoolmate because she
suffered ceaselessly when she came back. Seeing Mme. Forestier, whom Loisel had
once viewed as a peer, in a higher social status than herself disgusts Loisel. She

Loisel s pride causes her to make her first mistake shortly before the ball.
Committed to the belief that there s nothing more humiliating than to look poor
around other women who are rich, she decides that to merely have a dress is not
good enough. She tells her husband that she wants jewelry. So she asks her old
school friend (whom she otherwise avoids) if she can borrow a necklace, which as
far as she knows may be worth thirty six thousand francs. She uses this necklace at
the ball, dancing with other men than her husband, while he sleeps in the back room.
Between the hours in a crowded ballroom and the long walk to find a cab in the
night, it was not at all improbable that the seemingly valuable necklace would have
been stolen. Whether the necklace is stolen or just misplaced, it is indeed lost. Had
she stopped to think, Mme. Loisel may have realized that there was some risk in
borrowing a necklace that she thought was so expensive. Also, the impression she
makes at the ball would not likely have much bearing on her life later on. Her
refusal to wear natural roses shows us that one of her worst fears is to appear poor.
Thus to prevent injury to her pride she makes a gamble in which winning will bring
little, and losing, although the chance of such is overlooked, has drastic
Just War Theory Essay
Just War Theory
Price reduced due to problems with format
One of the perennial realities of human existence is war. From the earliest recorded
events of human history all the way through to modern times, human communities
have engaged in armed conflict as a method of dispute resolution. While war has been
a constant part of the human experience, there has also been a tendency within
virtually all human civilisations to limit the extent of war and the methods by which
warfare may be conducted.(1) In Western civilisation, this limitation on warfare has
taken shape as an effort to limit both the determination of when war is appropriate
and the means used in battle.(2) Within the Western moral, legal, and political arena,

SOURCES OF JUST WAR THEORY 1. The Religious Sources of Just War Theory
Many of the key thinkers who have expounded on just war theory through the
centuries have identified themselves with the Christian faith, both in its Catholic and
Protestant varieties. Just war theory has also gained a general acceptance among
Christian theologians, philosophers, and jurists as a method of passing judgement on
the morality or immorality of a particular conflict.(8) The general Christian
conception of just war theory forms the core of secular just war theory and as such
has had a tremendous influence on the secular conception of the just war.(9) Early
Christian approaches to war were largely pacifistic in nature, due to a focus in the
early Church to the notion that Christians were distinct from the rest of society.(10)
However, with the growing Christianization of the Roman Empire, and the increasing
political and social influence of the Christian Church, Christian theologians during the
fourth and fifth centuries began to develop justifications for the use of force which
would eventually take

The political system of governance in a country determines the extent of the
involvement of the state in the labour relationship. In a democratic system, the
intervention of the state is supposed to be limited. The free market system determines
the labour relationship. In this environment the role of trade unions is limited as is
that of conflict and industrial action. Labour legislation covers the bare minimum and
employers are often only responding to the demands of the market. On the other side
of the political spectrum, the state controls and owns all productive resources. The
labour relationship is regulated and there is no need for trade unions. Between these
extremes, countries have, to a greater or lesser degree, some form of regulation of the
labour relationship through legislative frameworks. In advanced democracies, the
fundamental human rights of individuals and employees are protected by the
constitution. Labour market intervention in these countries is normally because of
economic reasons. In South Africa, there has always been state intervention in the
labour relationship. During the apartheid era there was a dual system in labour
relations. There was a legislative framework governing white workers and a separate
framework governing other workers. The implemented recommendations of the
Wiehahn Commission in 1979, lead to

These two films: Star Wars and Star Trek are films which have to do from the first

movies starting with children and ending with the elderly. These two series of films I

Star Wars information:
Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise, centered on a film series created

Football Vs Basketball Compare And Contrast
Sports have been played for centuries around the world. Two of the most admired
sports are football and basketball. They are especially popular in America; football
is ranked the most popular, and basketball is ranked the third most popular. Football
became a sport in the United states in 1869; however, basketballwas not a sportin the
United statesuntil 1891. Both basketball and football are considered to be team
sports. While football and basketball have their similarities, football has a longer
playing time, has more people playing with protective equipment, and is played
outdoors with a smaller ball on a larger field. When observing the differences
between football and basketball, one cannot help but notice the differences in playing
time. Football games at the professional and college level go on for sixty minutes.
They have two, thirty minute halves or four, fifteen minute quarters. On the other
hand, basketball at the professional level goes on for forty eight minutes, and at the
college level, forty minutes. College basketball has only two, twenty minute halves.
Professional basketball has four, twelve minute quarters. Football playing times at

football player s protective gear includes things such as a helmet, shoulder pads,
gloves, cleats, a mouthguard, and a jockstrap. To the contrary, basketball has only
five players on the court at a time. Basketball players also do not need protective gear
since it is considered to be a non contact sport; however, protective gear such as knee
pads, elbow pads, or a mouth guard is
Monetary Policy And Its Effects On Economic Market
Generally, interest rates are positive, but they can also be negative due to the
monetary policy by government. A negative interest rate is defined as an interest rate
below zero, in which the person, bank, etc. lending the money pays interest to the one
borrowing the money in dictionary.cambridge.org. In other words, a negative interest
ratemeans banks must pay people or firms if they loan money from banks.
Furthermore, a negative interest rate also means people must be charged if they put
their money in savings account of a bank. Thus, this policy is major to encourage
everyone instead of hoarding their cash but spending, investing, and extending more
loans. Negative interest rate policy first came out in the early 1970s, when the Swiss
government ran a negative interest rate regime to counter its currency appreciation
due to investors fleeing inflationin other areas of the world. Then, in 2009 to 2010
Sweden and in 2012 Denmark used negative interest rates to stem hot money flows
into their economic market. Next, in 2014 the European Central Bankinstituted a
negative interest rate that only applied to bank deposits intended to prevent the
Eurozone from falling into a situation of deflation. Recently, this year on January 29th
the Bank of Japan announced its benchmark interest rate below zero in an attempt to
counteract the effects of falling oil prices and China s slowdown. (BoJ joins the party

Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451 Comparison to the Matrix
Essay
Ray Bradbury s novel Fahrenheit 451 speculates on a future society in which there
is no real knowledge, just a façade of lies because there are no testaments of truth,
books. This book shares a plot much like that of the Warner Brothers blockbuster,
Matrix, in which the human race is kept in the shadow of the truth by being put
into a virtual reality. In both stories a destroyed civilization is being suppressed by
an evil leader. Also, in both of these works have an average man rise from the ashes
of his previous life and become instruments in the changing of the way life is. Of
course, no story would be complete without the tenacious leaders who push the

with equipment to combat the lack of knowledge in the population. ?He picked up
something no larger than a .22 bullet,? says Montag when Faber is giving Montag
an earpiece to let Faber help him in whatever situation he may be in and to coach
him through the process of his mission against the ignorance. Morpheus also
combats their dark forces by uploading cool new programs to enhance his strengths.
For example, Morpheus tells tank to upload fighting programs to Neo and Neo
responds, ?I know kung fu!?
To illustrate another comparison of characters, Beatty, a chief of the fire station and
promoter of the saying ?Ignorance is bliss,? is responsible for getting rid of
knowledge and replicating his own ignorance onto others. Agent Smith does exactly
the same action, replication, yet his action is literal. Beatty, the destroyer of
knowledge and of enlightenment is totally and completely the same as Agent Smith
in Matrix. Beatty knows the truth, what most do not know, about life, and what?s in
books. Beatty talks up a storm to those in the dark and essentially turns others into a
living copy of him. Both men are deliberately trying to put the world out of the loop
by making all others just as they are. Agent Smith jabs his hand into an innocent and
they are turned into him. Beatty has already put his thoughts into his fellow firemen
and can be shown when Beatty explains his ideas at the greasy poker table. None of

The Law Of Sexual Offences Act
In 2003, the Sexual Offences Act was introduced to remedy the problems in the
law of sexual offences. Two important provisions were created. Section 74
introduced a statutory definition of consent, where a person consents if he agrees
by choice, and has the freedom and capacity to make that choice ; and section 76
introduced a list of conclusive presumptions on the absence of consent. The
provisions were introduced to clarify the law on consent, which prior to the Act
was scarce and unclear. However, from their inception the amendments have been
criticized for generating further confusion. First, the relationship between s.74 and
76 is ambiguous, whether s.76 is an exhaustive list of deceptions or whether other
deceptions fall under s.74 has an impact on the case law, as illustrated in McNally
and Assange. Second, the correct interpretation of s.76 is still unclear, the Courts
fluctuating between wide and narrow applications. To conclude, this essay will
ultimately look at a provision from the old 1956 Act which had it been re enacted
might have clarified the law. The relationship between Section 74 and 76 of the
SOA One of the confusions that has arisen from the case law, is whether section 76
is an exhaustive list of deceptions, or whether other deceptions will fall under s.74.
Recent case law shows a confusion in the application of the two provisions. In

Why Chain Of Command Is Important
Why is proper chain of command important? Because it helps run all units smoothly.
It defines who is accountable to whom, clarifies who needs to be contacted when a
Soldier has issues or concerns that may arise or when a Soldier needs to be
recognized for doing something outstanding. When the first line supervisors do their
part correctly there should not be any room for any mistakes. Grant it, there may be
miscommunication sometimes but supervisors should always strive to put their
Soldiers uppermost in their mind. Each Soldierhas someone they have to obey orders
from. In the Army, there will always be someone over you, your supervisor.

It is about executing what you have been told and executing it in a professional
matter. If the chain of command is used properly, it will provide smooth
communications which is setting a standard to providing direction in the assignment
of duties. The Army does things intentionally, like arrange things to happen with an
organized flow which creates structure for information to flow from any side of the
ranks, from the highest rank all the way down to the lowest rank.
When subordinates use the proper channels, it provides for information to move in
a rapid and effective way. Which helps the organization in so many ways. It helps
the organization, the Army, by keeping the higher chain of command informed of
all the difficulties the lower enlisted endure and experience every day. Every level,
does not matter which rank you are you will always play and have an important role

Source 4 is a book called Mastering Modern British History from Norman Lowe

thesis Conservative Party hindered the country s economic development. It criticises
that the Conservative Party emphasised the improvement in world trade rather than
improving the economic policies. This caused an economic failure. It accuses the
Conservative Party for hindering the country s economic development. The
introduction of the stop and go approach caused this as well. The stop and go
approach caused Stagflation. This is a situation where an inflation rate is high, the
economic growth rate slows down, and unemployment remains steadily high.
Considering the faults under the Conservative Party the government did not perceive
their opportunities to improve the economic failures. The government had no
coherent economic policy (they used stop and go). There was no structured financial
strategy (the budget was used to buy votes). The investment in the Research and

Analysis Of The Wounded Warrior Memoir
From January 8 to January 10, 2014, the first Wounded Warrior Pacific Invitational
was held in Honolulu, Hawaii. Hosted at the Pearl Harbor Hickam bases, this event
included a total of 150 athletes. The Wounded Warrior Pacific Invitational was the
largest joint service competition outside of the annual Warrior Games. At the event,
servicemembers from the Special Operations Command, Army, Coast Guard, Navy,
Air Force and Marines took part in the various competitions.
The goal of these events is to highlight the wounded warrior initiative and showcase
the potential that wounded warriors have to take part in everyday life like athletic
events. To support this goal, sailors throughout Hawaii volunteered their time and
energy to help wounded warriors get to each event. These sponsors created a lasting
impact by providing support and cheering on the competitors.
The Wounded Warrior Program
At the Wounded Warrior Pacific Invitational, specialists helps wounded warriors work
through athletic reconditioning. By preparing for a basketball game, they were able
to build strength and get back in shape. As a result, the former servicemembers are
able to have fewer secondary medical conditions. While the event provides a health

Why Does The Concentration Of An Enzyme Formed
Increase...
The concentration of PNP formed increase with time, The reason behind this is
because enzymes are powerful catalysts. They can accelerate the reactions by a factor
of as much as a million or more. In this experiment, with the lapse of time, more
substrate binds to the enzyme s active site of which the surface is lined with amino
acid residue with substitute groups that bind the substrate and catalyse its chemical
transformation. Enzymereduced the activation energy of this reaction. This enzyme
catalysed reaction takes a different route . The enzyme and substrate form a reaction
intermediate. Its formation has a lower activation energy than the reaction between
reactants without a catalyst. Therefore more PNP formed.
The rate of an enzyme catalysed
The, Capital One, And Bowsart
Hey guys, hope you re all enjoying your placements. They sound great! I
mentioned last week that the Network sent out a newsletter for artists to submit
their artwork for three desired, upcoming events: Bridgepoint, Capital One, and
Bowsart. We extended the deadline because we were not receiving enough
submissions. Bridgepoint is only open to members of the Network, but Capital
One is open to artists and other non members. Thus far, we have received much
more submissions for the Capital One event. Location is key. Capital One is set in
a corporate building and can generate more cliental. My task was to transfer each
artists submission from the website into a document for the board. An artist can
submit up to three images for each event. For example, only 8 pieces of artwork are
selected by a jury to be showcased at Bridgepoint and CapitalOne. I went through
each submission, uploaded each of their images, and inserted a description for the
artwork, which included, the artists name, title of the piece, size by inch, and the
medium. I then imported this information into an excel spreadsheet for our records to
note payment and membership information. I viewed a range of fascinating artwork
ranging from oil paintings, watercolour, acrylic on canvas, sculpted canvas,
photography etc. Later on, an artist came by to the office because she required
assistance submitting her artwork online. My LSS was happy to help take
photographs of her paintings. I edited the pictures
The Different Cultural Landscapes Of Montreal
Montreal has a lot of different cultural landscapes. Each different section in
Montreal brings out the diversity because of how many different ethnic groups
there are. Montreal is known for their diversity. For example, if you want a taste of
China, you can go to China town and see their way of living. Italy is just around
the corner if you visit Saint Laurent Boulevard between Jean Talon Street and St.
Zotique Street. We can also go a step further and visit Haiti in the town of Saint

Amy Tan s The Joyluck Club Essay
Even though people do not read books anymore, stories still travel amongst people.
Whether these stories are anecdotes between friends, or historical lessons from
parent to child, stories pass around like a ball in a game of catch. However, not
many stories possess aspects that allow them to hold the title of interesting . The
novel The Joy Luck Club, by Amy Tan, is about a group of eight girls who tell the
story of their life from their own perspectives and how the events they encountered in
the past developed their characters, making their diverse behaviors and actions
understandable. They explain the misfortune and sadness in their life, and how never
giving up and moving forward blessed their lives with luck and joy. However, what...

The reason that this story is powerful, however, is because Rose changes. When
Ted tells her that he wants to have a divorce, she sulks for a few days, but then
realizes her problem. Calling him over, she gives him the divorce papers, his name
still there, but lacking hers. His shock was appropriate, since the viewers too felt
the same surprise. The story takes a powerful turn, as Rose felt nothing, no fear,
no anger (219). She no longer feared disappointing him and being different from
him. She developed from the little girl who would listen to others, into an adult
who made her own decisions. She finally learned, like her mother, how to swim
against the tide. The development of Rose s character aids the story into being
powerful, but there was also another aspect that makes this true. Moreover, Rose s
story is powerful because it holds misfortune that makes the reader upset. Powerful
stories do more than just develop characters; they make the reader understand the
character. They make the reader agonize over the pounds of misfortune piling onto
a character s back, forcing them to carry excess burdens. The two main hardships
that burden Rose are the death of her younger brother and her divorce. Going to the
beach with her family, her mother assigns the task of watching over her youngest
sibling, Bing. At first, she does a good job of doing so, teasing him in the process,
adding the sweet comic relief that gives the reader time to laugh and
Twentieth Century And Vatican II Essay
TWENTIETH CENTURY AND VATICAN II The twentieth century was a witness
to a new social organization of the state and the rising of totalitarian regimes, which
represented a threat to the principles of the individual that the Church defended.
Popes Pius XI and Pius XII defended the rights of each person in their statements.
These notions signified also a development in the idea of religious freedom.
However, it would be PopeJohn XXIII and the Second Vatican Councilwho would
affirm clearly the stance of the Church on this issue. The totalitarian states claimed an
ethical state that would be free from any kind of relationship with religions. Thus,
religion became only a private practice in some European states. Meanwhile, the
Catholic Churchcontinued to demand a thesis/hypothesis kind of relationship with
the states, which was in place since the nineteenth century. Herminio Rico S.J.
explains in his book John Paul II and the Legacy of Dignitatis Humanae that the
thesis principle was that the Catholic Church was the true religion and as true
religion, only she should be allowed to have public worship. In addition, the state
should have the Church as the official religion and any other religions should be
forbidden of worshiping in public to prevent the faithful to fall in error. Rico goes
ahead to explain that the hypothesis was that exceptions to the thesis should be made
in those places where the public order or severe animosity against the Church
interfered with the ideal
The Unknown Citizen By Auden
The Unknown Citizen, written by W. H. Auden, is a poem that describes a man
who lived a life most people would see as ideal. The man illustrated by this poem
did what society expected him to do, which resulted in a model life. This poem,
however, can be seen in more than one way. Some may see the story in the poem
as a description of a man who had an unfulfilling life because he did exactly what
was expected of him. Instead of trying something new, exploring the world, or
making a change, the man did what everyone else regarded as acceptable. W. H.
Audens poem can be seen from two perspectives: the man who lived an ideal life
that many people sought to have or the man who lived an unfulfilling, ordinary life
which caused him to blend in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
W. H. Auden s poem, The Unknown Citizen, is a great example of this because one
can find at least two meanings within the poem. One person could see the poem as
a description of a perfect man while someone else could see the poem as a message
to be unique and make a change in the world. The man in the poem fulfilled society s
expectations, but at the same time, the man may not have had a fulfilling life. These
two ideas could not be the only interpretations of the poem. Other readers may
discover their own meanings or explanations of the poem. Overall, the speaker in The
Unknown Citizen describes the life of an unknown man, but the reader must decide

Disneyland Is A New World Of Yesterday, Tomorrow, And

Over the entrance to Main Street in Disneyland is a quote by Walt Disney reading
Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy
(Disney). Even then Walt Disney knew what this park is because here I stand with
my Aunt Laura, Cousin Ricky, and Sister Monica with among the thousands around
us staring off at the dark and distant gates, waiting for entry through to the happiest
place on earth. We all stand with impatience and excitement, for we know what is to
come will surely be an adventure into a new world filled with amazing attractions
and attacks on nostalgia that if only for a moment can take someone back to their
childhood.
First thing I see after crossing the threshold is a rather large Mickey Mouse flower
pattern that is a beacon to all that enter, calling all visitors to take a picture as the
perfect backdrop, however, we decide to walk past and walk through, as Walt Disney
called it on the sign above, yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy. A wave of nostalgia
washes over me, and a brief childlike wonder set in at the sight of Main Street.
Shaken out of my nostalgia, I hear the sound before I see a marching band playing,
the trolley in the distance, and kids and adults alike lining up to take a picture with
Disney characters. My Aunt Laura among them, wanting to take pictures, and my
Cousin Ricky reluctantly obliges. Now, we are heading up Main Street, seeing the
early 20th century style architecture and I can see the Disney castle in the
Wildland Fire Essay
Virtually everywhere in the United States is affected to one degree of another by
wildland fires. Even if a community is not directly involved with the fire itself,
chances are that some of its members have gone to help fight wildland fires in other
areas of the country by providing manpower, financial support, or other humanitarian
aid.
Policies regarding the handling of wildland fires continue to change and evolve as
new information is learned each fire season. Attitudes have changed between
complete wildland fire suppression to no suppression at all. We now seem to have
reached a balance between the two schools of thought and fall somewhere in the
middle.

605). Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it only changes form. There are several
sources of heat. These sources are chemical, mechanical, electrical, and nuclear.
Chemical The most common source of heat for the purpose of firefighting comes
from chemical reactions. When something burns, it is the result of a chemical
reaction where heat is being released. Pyrolysis is the decomposition or
transformation of a compound caused by heat. (Coleman, et al. 81)
Mechanical The mechanical source of heat deals the heat that is created from
friction. Friction is a resistive force that occurs from the rubbing or compression of
materials. For firefighters, this source of fire is seen mostly in industrial machinery
(Coleman, et al. 81).
Electrical An electric current exists when there is a net flow of charge through a
given area. Electrons flow from the negatively charged region to the positively
charged region. This is usually accomplished by using an electrical conductor which
allows the electrons to pass freely through the material (Serway, et al. 709). This flow
of electrons can generate heat when collisions between the molecules and electrons
occur. These collisions then cause the molecules to break apart thus releasing heat.
Some common examples of electrical energy are lightning, static electricity, and
wiring outlets (Coleman, et al. 82). For the wildland firefighter, lightning is probably

The Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover

mankind. Within a single moment, love can become hate. There is a vicious cycle
of love and hate that will continue for many years to come. Its part of the human

Difference Between John Smith And William Bradford s
Journals
John Smith and William Bradford were two authors of the 1600s, who wrote
journals about the the way they lived in the New World. John Smith s journal was
filled with adventure and talked about how heroic he was to persuade people to
come to America. William Bradford s journal was about his voyage to coming to
America and his spiritual teachings and beliefs. The three main difference between
John Smith and William Bradford s Journals are their styles of writing, preconceived
notion of the Native Americans, and their reasons for coming into America.
The first difference between John Smith and William Bradford journals was their
writing styles and point of view, since they had different audiences and purposes.

Slum Problem In Slums
In India, the capital city of Delhi has a long history and has been an important
political centre of India as well as several empires. (Wikipedia, 2017, May) Delhi
has a population of around 18 million and it is one of the biggest metropolises city
in the world, but Delhi faces a major crisis in the sector of health care as nearly half
of its people live in slums and unauthorised colonies without any proper disposing of
their waste. (Dhananjay, 2012, Oct 4] The purpose of this report is to find out why
the slum issues remain even after many years.
Slums in Delhi has been around since the late 70s and it has since continued to
grow in the number of the population living in slums. Slums comprise a social
cluster that engenders a distinct set of health problems. With estimated half of its
population living in such communities, this neglected population has a wide
spectrum of health conditions. (Lee W Riley, Albert L Ko, Alon Unger and
Mitermayer G Reis,2007, Mar 7) Water and sanitation in slums are the major cause
of the high death rates as diseases spread around and they do not have good access
to healthcare. The water that they fetch is not the water we drink instead it is not
clean and purified for drinking, it is contaminated with diseases that are the major
cause for huge death rates, especially in children.
The issue still exists and does not persist is because mainly of the huge corruption in
India`s government. Corruption in India can be traced back to the country`s

Theme Of Good Bye To The Sunset Man
Good Bye to the Sunset Man , in Lee Smith s, Dimestore, is written as a tribute to
bidding her only child, Josh, farewell. At the age of thirty two Josh passed away
after his fearless battle against schizophrenia. Smith reminisces on her past life,
exposing the reader to all the pain inflicted on her, but also insuring that it is
possible to see the beauty in those moments. Life s moments will not always result
the way humans would prefer, but that does not mean those moments are not worth
holding onto. I will illustrate how the central theme, the gift of life, will tie into
various elements of Lee Smith s essay, Good bye to the Sunset Man . Have you ever

The significance is first introduced when the author writes, Like Hal, Josh was a

memories, is centered around the fact that Lee has traveled to Key West to part

of the essay, the gift of life. I remember on our last trip together, the sun was so

I plan on making a budget each month and stick with it. Another financial goal of

Catching a lacrosse ball isn t hard as long as whoever is throwing it to you has
good aim and doesn t hit your face. When catching a lacrosse ball you want to
make sure that your right and left hand are in the same position as picking up
ground balls. Your lacrosse stick has to be towards your right and the back of your
lacrosse stick has to be facing you so that the opening is facing forward. You want
to have your lacrosse stick bent forward so that the person knows you re ready to
catch the ball. Always be sure that when someone is throwing the ball towards you,
your lacrosse stick moves towards whatever direction the ball is heading towards.
For finalization, the ball can be felt when you are holding your lacrosse stick. You
want to get your hands into the same position you were in for catching, make sure
that your right foot is forward and bent, also that the bottom of your lacrosse stick
is in front of your body and the head of the stick is behind your head but to the
right. Now you are able to just throw the ball, but when you do it make sure that the
ball is towards the center in your net so that your throw can be as accurate as
James Prescott Joue Research Paper
James Prescott Joule, the eminent English physicist, is widely known for his
scientific contributions. However, I admire him for another reason as well: his
ability to reconcile the role of science with that of his Christian faith. Although he
lived in a day where religion and science were often antagonistic, he remained a man
fully committed to both. His epitaph is from John 9:4: I must work the works of him
that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. Although
Catholicism is relatively uncommon in China, I claim this faith, and share Joules
perspective that faith does not provide complete truth apart from scientific inquiry.

Compared with chemical propulsion, it is much safer and more efficient due to jts
lesser dependence on propellants to produce the overall same effect. NASA
actively propels the development of Solar Electric Propulsion which is a strong
sign that electric propulsion is definitely a promising research direction. However,
two main problems issues still needed to be solved. Firstly, most of electric
propulsion devices are designed for spacecraft; however, low amounts of electrical
power are available onboard. Secondly, electric thrusters work with small flows of
propellants which result in knockdown acceleration. Both of these could be solved by
finding better alternative propellants or coming up with innovative design methods.
As one of the world leading technology institutions, Princeton set up the Electric

Jackie Robinson And The Civil Rights Movement
In the pre dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, the 1940s were rife with racial
tension. Nearly all public institutions were segregated. Libraries, schools,
transportation, the armed forces. Sports teams were just as rigorously divided into
two sects the Negro leagues and the major leagues. There was no question about
which division a black man would play for. Nobody dared cross the rift between
whites and blacks; they were too afraid. Eventually, however, all it took was one man
to begin breaking down the barrier. Jackie Robinsons time in baseball s major leagues
broke color lines and brought about significant social changes both on and off the
field. Jack Roosevelt Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia.
His parents, Mallie and Jerry Robinson, were from poor sharecropping families and
had four other children Willa Mae, Edgar, Frank, and Matthew Mack (who later
became a silver medalist at the 1936 Summer Olympics). When Jackie, the
youngest, was barely one year old, his father left the family. Mallie Robinson
moved her children from Cairo to a relatively poor neighborhood in Pasadena,
California. Jackie Robinson was often excluded from activities and spent a short
time in a gang (he was persuaded to abandon it by a friend). In 1935, Robinson was
enrolled at John Muir High School, where he was inspired by his athletic older

Artifacts
The level of artifacts at the surface, Aspect the organization culture that you can see,
hear, and feel. Artifacts consist the visible products of the group, such that the
architecture of it is physical environment; like technology, language, and products,
style, embodied in clothing, manner of address, and emotional displays. Its myths
story told about the organization Cultures. It is ceremony, values and observable
rituals.
The most important point to be made about this level of the culture is that it is both
easy to observe and very difficult to decipher. The Egyptians and the Mayans both
built highly visible pyramids, but the meaning of pyramids in each culture was very
different.

Janet Mcnulty s Solaris Seethes
Solaris Seethes by Janet McNulty is an epic space adventure that is reminiscent of
stories like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and perhaps even a bit of Battlestar
Galactica. The story is centered on Rynah, a female from the planet Lanyr that is
forced to delve into the ancient myths of her people in order to save her planet. Her
grandfather was known for his belief in the ancient myths and he built Solaris, a
highly intelligent AI system living in the walls of an old spaceship, created to help
with the adventure. Solaris Seethes quickly turns into a space adventure when Solaris
summons four Earthlings, all from different time periods to the ship to help Rynah
on her quest. The crew travels through space in search of six ancient crystals to save
Lanyr, and an epic journey ensues! They encounter space pirates, man eating plants,
and several other surprises that all promise imminent doom for the crew.... Show

McNulty did a nice job creating attention grabbing. What I mostly liked was how
all four of the humans that come to Solaris are from different time periods on Earth.
You have a man that lives in B.C. times, a Viking warrior, a teenage girl from 2014,
and an inventor from 2080. This certainly made the book more unique and adds some
depth to the story. In addition, the character Solaris adds a comedic undertone to a
somewhat serious book. Solaris is downright sassy, and although she is simply an AI
system, she seems to have thoughts, feelings, and intuition; the same as any

You keep lying! screamed Raskolnikov, no longer able to restrain himself. You re

Both of them had experienced sufferings beyond what one can imagine.
Dostoyevsky felt that suffering gives one the chance of puri6cation and
transformation. Through his many ordeals of suffering, ranging from the near death
of his sick children or his epileptic seizures, to his early imprisonment and exile to
Siberia, Dostoyevsky felt that he eventually reached the point of happiness The way
of salvation is the way of suffering could often be heard mumbled from Dostoyevsky
s mouth. For these reasons, critics believe that Raskolnikov may have been a direct
symbol of Dostoyevsky and his suffering. (Kjetsaa, 346 349)
Dostoyevsky most likely modeled Crime and Punishment after his own experiences.
Since the two men s lives had striking similarities, many people believed that was
evidence to prove their thinking. As Raskolnikov was overcome with tremendous
suffering, sent to Siberia, and fell madly in love with a beautiful woman; so did
Dostoyevsky within his lifetime. I do believe that the character (Raskolnikov) was
the epitome of Dostoyevsky s life. (Timoney)
Nightmares
Even when Raskolnikov was asleep he received painful messages of others who were
suffering, just as he was. In one particular instance, before the double murder,
Raskolnikov is brought back to the poverty he suffered throughout his childhood. He
once again feels a great empathy toward the suffered, but this time
Dogs Are Not Tame Wolves Essay
Dogs were the first animal, and the only large carnivore, to be domesticated. in both
appearance and in both Dogs are not tame wolves, but how they became these
unique companions to people is still being debated. There are several theories on
how the evolution from wolf to dog came about. One theory is that the human
environment attracted wolves. Wolves started following people around to take
advantage of food scraps that were left behind. Eventually, wolves lost fear of people,
and people lost fear of wolves. The benefits of this new relationship were not just one
way. Wolves also helped humans by sniffing out prey and helping them hunt. Success
likely meant the humans would share their food with wolves. This is a very popular
theory, but it has been disputed. Archeological digs show that the early dogs were not
eating the same mammoth meat that the humans were eating. Instead, their main diet
consisted mostly of less popular human meat such as reindeer. The prehistoric dogs
also had many broken teeth and severe facial wounds. Although these injuries could
be from fighting with other dogs, many scientists believe the dogs had been beaten
with sticks, leading many to assume the relationship between man and prehistoric dog
was not as companionable as the theory would suggest. The conflicts with this first
theory, have led some scientist to suggest a different theory. Some scientists propose
that humans brought wolf pups to camp, possibly after finding them in
Hate Speech Stereotypes
According to the new FBI numbers, 47 percent of hate crimes in 2014 were
motivated by race, over 20 percent by anti LGBT animus, and approaching 19
percent by religion (Potok 2). The use of hate speech leads to imminent hate crimes,
especially when such speech is ramped within politics. Hate speech should be seen
as a precursor to more serious crimesand violence because hate speechcauses society
to be more accepting toward certain violent behaviors and hate speech allows for
negative stereotypes to be used against marginalized groups of people.
First, the constant use of hate speech allows society to become immune and more
accepting toward violence. Last August, a 58 year old homeless Latino man was

During Trump s speech announcing his presidential bid back in June, Trump said,
When Mexico sends its people, they re not sending their best... They re brining
drugs. They re brining crime. They re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people,
according to CNN (Zaru 1). More importantly, Trump caters to the idea that
Mexicans are criminals who are only known for stealing American jobs and taking
money from Americans. According to the 2010 Census data, less educated native
born men age 18 39 had an incarceration rate of 10.7 percent, which is more than
triple the 2.8 percent rate among foreign born Mexican men, and five times greater
than the 1.7 percent rate among foreign born Salvadoran and Guatemalan men
(Ewing et al. 1). Therefore, the assumptions and fallacies Donald Trump, along with
many other GOP presidential candidates spew about Mexicans and illegal
immigrants, is far from the truth, seeing as native born men are more likely to
commit crimes than immigrants. According to the Washington Post, former GOP
presidential candidate Ben Carson suggested that Muslims might be dangerous, and
even compared Muslim Syrian refugees to dogs, saying, If there s a rabid dog
running around in your neighborhood, you re probably not going to assume
something good about that dog. It doesn t mean you hate all dogs, but you re putting
your intellect into motion (Ehrenfreund 4). Subsequently, after terrorist attacks in

Earl Birney Essay
English ISU
The poet we will be analyzing in this essay is the poet Earl Birney. He was born in
Calgary, Alberta, and raised on a farm in Erickson, near Creston, British Columbia.
He was born on 13 May 1904 and died on the 3 September 1995. The two poems we
will be looking at today are the poems Bushed, and The Bear on the Delhi Road.
These poems demonstrate how nature is both beautiful and dangerous at once and all
we can do is watch. Through the next couple of paragraphs, we will look at examples
and quotations from the poems to further understand this message in his poems.
Firstly, we will look at nature in the poems by Earl Birney. In the first poem bushed
we have a few examples of nature. Shattered it into the lake lap of a mountain
(Bushed, Earl Birney, line 2). This shows a scene from nature and further examples
can be shown. But he found the mountain was clearly alive (Bushed, Earl Birney,
line 10). In the second poem The Bear on the Delhi Road more examples can be
seen. By the road the Himalayan Bear (The Bear on the Delhi Road, Earl Birney, line
2). By observing these quotations throughout the poems we can see that the theme of
nature is present throughout the poems.
Secondly we can draw the link between nature and danger ... Show more content on

In the poem Bushed there are two good examples of this. He took then to waiting
(Bushed, Earl Birney, line 18). This shows the man in the poem is powerless and
all he can do is wait. Another example is this And now he could only, bar himself in
and wait (Bushed, Earl Birney, line 28 and 29). This demonstrates the man lack of
ability to do anything against nature but wait. In the poem The Bear on the Delhi
Road there is another example. About him two men bare (The Bear on the Delhi
Road, Earl Birney, line 5). This shows that even two men together are no match for
nature in this example the Bear is nature. These examples prove our powerlessness

Essay on Stereotypes in media
Bringing Down the House featuring Steve Martin and Queen Latifah is a clever
comedy that creatively showcases the sociolinguistic phenomena covered in this
course. The film is about a tax attorney named Peter, played by Martin, who stumbles
into an online lawyer chat room and meets Charlene, played by Latifah. The two chat
frequently, mostly about court cases, and eventually decide to meet in person. When
the day finally comes, Peter is greeted at the door with who he thought would be a
middle aged Caucasian woman, but happened to be Charlene, a black womanwho just
escaped from prison. Thinking this was a mistake, Peter tries to kickout Charlene but
is later convinced she is the one who he was speaking with in the chat room. Charlene

In attempt to do so, he uses Sarah s language that he believes she would be more
inclined to listen to. The father s usage of the modern hip hop language is an
example of generational conflict. Implied by other clips in the movie, we conclude
the father s environment as an attorney requires him to use a more conservative
language that has been more or less designated to his generation. This contrasts with
the daughters modern and hip hop language that incorporates many slang
terminologies, non standard English sentences and phrases, and a very relaxed
tone. Although we see the father is able to put a couple sentences together,
everything from his tone and range clearly show his inexperience to the speech. An
example to showcase his failure is when he attempts to say an he try da get al up in
dat. The father used the same expression but with different pronunciation. Peter says
and he tried to get all up in that, which is clearly too formal for this speech and loses
the flavor of what makes the language so authentic to the hip hop generation. Peter
and Sarah both speak standard English, but this is another example of how it can
vary. Even though the two are family and from the same class, their generation gap
influences the variation of English they speak.
In this clip of the film, in attempt to help clear Charlene s name, the father
How Does Shakespeare Show Loyalty In King Lear
Kent s devotion to King Lear causes him to dismiss who he used to be Earl of Kent
along with the power he had. Kent s loyalty gave him the ability to see what was
happening in the kingdom and not be blinded by the devil like actions of other
characters in the play. Shakespeare reinforces what loyalty is, by subliminally
addressing it throughout the play and emphasizing why loyalty should be a feature
we look at a person.
Kent, a servant of King Lear, who believes loyalty is the best policy, demonstrates the
meaning of what being loyal is, by supporting King Lear and helping him see the
truth behind the actions of his two out of three daughters, Goneril and Regan.
Although banned by King Lear himself, after trying to defend Cordelia the ... Show

Kent exclaims, What a brazen faced varlet art thou, to deny thou knowest me! Is it
two days ago since I tripped up thy heels and beat thee before the King? Draw, you
rogue: for, though it be night, yet the moon shines; I ll make a sop o the
moonshine of you: (2.2.37) Kent, now Caius, felt the need to confront Oswald for
his past wrongdoings he committed against King Lear, but heed the purpose of the
confrontation by acting as if he was bothered by Oswald forgetting who he was.
The significant thing to remember is the reason why Kent acted so harshly
towards Oswald. Oswald before this confrontation, disrespected King Lear.
Oswald when he returned from telling Goneril the eldest daughter of Lear that her
father is here, he did not return back with her. Lear then asked Oswald, who he,
King Lear was, as if he was trying to make Oswald recognize the position a King
stands and the position a servant stands. To assert why he came back without
Goneril. Oswald replied with My Lady s father (1.4.20). King Lear, after hearing
this became furious, for Oswald said My Lady s father not my king nor my lord,
which is what Lear is used to hearing, this offended Lear. Lear, even after giving up
his power believes everyone should treat him as if he still has power, as if he was
actually still the king. The thought of him being King still sustain, implying that
when a servant or anyone that works in the kingdom speaks to him, they
Bystander Effect
The Bystander Effect
Everybody wants to be a hero and to change the world. To make it a better place
and make a difference. So why then in the face of danger do we back down? Why
do we just stand by as cruel things happen to good people. Science has coined this
term as the bystander effect. The bystander effect is defined as, a social
psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which individuals do not offer
any means of help to a victim when other people are present. You can see this effect
in full in the movie, The Hunger Games, as people just stand by and let the killing of
innocent children happen year after year.
Now this might seem like a crazy idea because in you mind if someone really
needed help you would always help. This is not always the case though. In the book,
No One Helped : Kitty Genovese, New York City, and the Myth of Urban Apathy, the
author, Marcia Gallo, highlights the events that happened that lead to the
understanding of the event known as the Bystander Effect. It was because of this
event, that the term bystander effect was first used and brought to light not only to
the scientific community but also to the public. March 27, 1964 Kitty Genovese ...

And more importantly, why does this happen. Well there are a number of different
reasons that this happens.in the book, Bystander Apathy and the Territorial
Imperative, A.R Gillis and John Hagan highlight the science behind the Bystander
Effect. They highlight the finding that one of the reasons that people fail to get
involved is the idea of disorganization; the idea that in high stimuli situations, such
as city life, one s stress is increased and the need to blend in and not cause attention
increases. Another reason that people fail to get involved is because they do not
know the other people involved. It has been studied that if a friend was in trouble a
person would feel socially accountable to help rather than with a
I Want To Become A Career In Music
Loud music blared throughout the house while everyone attempted to sleep. Yes, It
was me, a promising young producer with a passion for music.By the time I was 14,
I was marketing and selling beats online. At a young age, I began surrounding myself
with other producers and audio engineers, and as a result, I began to learn useful
techniques to become more successful. It is quite difficult being a consistent music
producer, therefore, I am compelled to work diligently to diversify my music.
Because of my experiences with music I ve grown to have exceedingly strong traits
of versatility and commitment. I ve also become remarkably resilient to hardships. I
ve made beats for popular artist such as Post Malone, Famous Dex, Lil Lonnie,...

With the help of beat sales and self studying methods, I was able to secure my first
studio, in which I produced a few beats that only received a couple dozen views at
a time. A few years later, after constant study, struggle and perseverance, through
self doubt and peer pressure, I was able to become an average producer. I receive
over two million views on my youtube channels and over a million views on my
website monthly. People buy my beats to help fund me for future development.
During school, I always receive notifications from. different people asking for a
unique beat or to license one that they took interest in. I fell in love with making
beats and I was ecstatic to find out that there was a career that could further
develop my skills. My love for beats keeps me dedicated to becoming one of the
best producers, even if it takes a long time. This dedication allowed me to not only
be committed to my music, but also, to everything I do. This devotion also caused
me to become a tenacious individual that doesn t let any obstacle interfere with my
goals
Being in high school often presented me with many adversities. I was facing peer
pressure, the weird change in environment, and basically every other typical
problem a freshman faced. When I told people about my love for producing beats,
many people doubted my skills and tried to kill my dreams. However, I refused to let
go of my passion for making beats and continued to strive for my goal,
Student Mentorship Program For The Community College
Essay
Student Mentoring in the Community College
Student Population Served
Student Success is now considered a vital element in the community college role. We
must teach our students, and equipped them with skills to achieve their educational
goal, as well as their career goals thereby, surviving in the workplace. Therefore, I am
proposing a student mentorship program that targets all students enrolling at Mohave
Community College (MCC). The program will encourage participation from the
concurrent enrolled high school students, as well as students that are classified within
the at risk category. Each student at registration will receive information regarding
the program, and encourage to participate when attending orientation.
Identified Need
The implementation and formulation of the program are highly informed by the fact
that certain groups of students desperately need interventions to enhance their
academic performance and increase their retention rates (Stromel, 2000). The
program has identified six types of students who require mentor consisting of the
nontraditional adults; students in remedial studies; students exhibiting low classroom
participation; learners with low campus or community involvement; anyone who
lacks positive role models, and students complaining about time. Therefore, with the
tremendous increase of nontraditional and remedial students at MCC which, exhibit
low motivation skills, time management abilities, and failure to socialize (Campbell,

200 Word Essay On Respect

  • 1. 200 Word Essay On Respect Crafting a 200-word essay on respect may seem deceptively simple, given the brevity of the word limit. However, distilling a meaningful and comprehensive exploration of the concept within such constraints is a challenging task. Respect is a multifaceted topic that spans various dimensions—cultural, interpersonal, and self-respect, among others. Conveying a nuanced understanding of respect demands thoughtful selection of words and careful structuring of ideas to capture the essence succinctly. The challenge lies not only in defining respect but also in exploring its significance and manifestations across different contexts. Balancing conciseness with depth requires precision in language and clarity in conveying ideas. Additionally, choosing examples that resonate universally within the tight word limit adds another layer of complexity. Despite its apparent simplicity, the task demands a profound understanding of respect and effective communication skills. Every word becomes pivotal, and the essay must strike a harmonious chord between brevity and substance. In conclusion, the difficulty in composing a 200-word essay on respect lies in navigating the delicate balance between comprehensive coverage and the stringent word limit. It challenges the writer to distill complex ideas into a concise yet impactful form, requiring finesse in both conceptualization and expression. 200 Word Essay On Respect200 Word Essay On Respect

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, people from all around are not going to come and watch a high school play football but the ones that will come are in the community. Many love watching football games and supporting their favorite local high school. At those games, people are able to interact with others allowing them to make new friends. • 3. Roman Concepts of Military Leadership Essay Leadership can be defined as the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and improving the organization. While the wording comes from the United States Army s Leadership manual, the same principles applied to the men who served in the Roman army, both the Republic and the Empire. From 508 BC to 1453 the Roman s would be a considered a superpower in the world with all roads leading to Rome as the old proverb explains. A superpower is maintained with a strong military and Rome was no exception. During her reign, Rome saw a vast number of generals and leaders that would stand out over time. Three of these leaders would be Trajan, Marius and Scipio Africanus.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trajan would continue to move across towards Decealus and his armies, building roads, bridges and forts to engage his enemy. Trajan s forces did not have a grand victory initially. The Dacian s resisted his efforts and the weather played into the enemy hands as Trajan and his forces took heavy casualties. Cassius Dio reported that Trajan used his own robes to help make bandages for his wounded, and had an altar and funeral rites in honor of his fallen. While Decebalus may have claimed victory in the first Battle of Tapae, the second Battle of Tapae would belong to Trajan, pushing Decebalus and his forces back. Decebalus would have some success with hit and run type tactics, as he knew better than to attack the heavily fortified Roman camps and attempted a winter campaign to try and relieve some of the pressure that Trajan s forces had put on his. The true Roman tenacity would again come to the forefront, as Decebalus retreated to the mountains to resist, but Trajan s forces would isolate these strongpoints and take them down one by one. Trajan would return to Rome to celebrate his Truimp in 102 AD after defeating Decebalus who is seen on the column dedicated to Trajan s victory kneeling and begging for mercy. Trajan showed Decebalus mercy and he would come to regret it, as the
  • 4. Research Paper On Animal Shelter If an animal shelter was dangerously low on supplies for their animals then someone needs to help them out. Giving donations to them would be the right thing to do. It would be awful if you just had to throw the animals out on the street after being taken care of for so long. They wouldn t know what to do or how to take care of themselves. The other option would be to throw all of them in the pound and we all know what happens whenever poor helpless animals get thrown in the pound. Usually the animalsget put down, as in killed, whenever they do not get adopted in a certain amount of time. One good reason to give the community animal shelter donations is so the animals don t have to live on the street when they do not have any other place to wonder to. An animals should never have to endure that kind of pain, maybe not physically, but mentally.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dropping you re poor pet off at some random location is never the right choice. Just because you can t afford to take care of your pet anymore does not mean you can t afford to send them to an animal shelter? Without animal shelter there would be so many more stray animals out on the street, not knowing what to do or how to get food. The last and final reason why we should start giving donations to this animal shelter is because there are some animals out there that will never have a home or that doesn t even know what a family is. An animal shelter would provide a place to call home. Without food and supplies these people need to take care of these animals, there will be no animal shelter. And all of these reasons I just listed for you would come true. The animals that are in the animals shelter right now would be homeless and without a place to call home. No animal should have to go through

  • 7. The Gap Between Medicaid And Medicaid Essay We all have this confusion between Medicaid and Medicare some people don t know the difference between the two or don t even know what either of them are. The Federal government has two different programs to provide health insurance coverage to citizens in the United States, which are Medicare and Medicaid. The two programs, while helpful to those individuals who qualify, are not available to everyone. I m here to briefly explain and discuss the two programs, their similarities, and their differences and hopefully get people to understand each program. This become important in our lives because once we reach the age limit of where we can t provide or take care of our illnesses these programs come into play on your health care options. This topic I choose has a big connection into our class because this is something we need to be aware of when it our time to retire and know that we have some type of insurance to support with our health. Once we get to the age where we can pay for things we need the Medicareor Medicaid program to help us get the care that we worked hard for and most importantly deserve. First, I would like to start off with Medicare. President Johnson signed the Title XVIII of the Social Security Act, known as Medicare, into a law on July 30, 1965 with full coverage in the beginning of 1966. To qualify for Medicare you have to be 65 and older, people who are under the age of 65 with certain disabilities, and people of all ages with End Stage Renal Disease,
  • 8. What Is The Significance Of The Globe Theatre The Globe Theatre is an open air playhouse which is considered one of the most famous theatres in the world. Many of Shakespeare s plays were written so that they could be performed in the theatre, and he was a part of the company that constructed and owned it. The theatre was built during a time whereby there was an entertainment vacuum in London, and was thus hugely popular amongst the masses for the variety of plays that graced its stage. Unfortunately, it was shut down and demolished in less than a hundred years but it remains as one of theatrical history s most significant icons. Shakespeare s Globe Theatre was originally an Elizabethan theatre that was built in 1599 in London, and it was named as such due to the fact that Shakespeare wrote multiple plays which were staged there. It was one of the major theatres in the area it was built in (Southwark) along with the Rose Theatre, Hope Theatre and Swan Theatre. As a dramatist, Shakespeare was ... The theatre s third level housed a small structure supported by columns from the stage, and this was where announcements were made and flags which advertised new plays were flown here. Shakespeare s Globe Theatre was truly the most magnificent theatre that was built in its time, and a replica of it exists today in the same location it was originally built in. Other replicas such as the Panasonic Globe Theatre in Tokyo have also been built around the world, albeit not as accurate as the first one in Southwark is. This effectively proves how iconic the Globe Theatre is in our world, both in the past and present. Hence, one can anticipate the theatre s strong foothold over architectural design for new theatres for generations to

  • 10. The Scaled Quail By Rebecca Robertson The Scaled Quail By Rebecca Robertson 3/2/17 Appearance: This bird has a striking appearance of a series of round feathers that adorn the bird s body, giving it the illusion of having scales. Their legs are built to run and evade predators, as the grasslands themselves are open with not a lot of trees or logs to hide. Their wingspan averages 14 15 inches. Classified Name: Callipepla squamata Other Names: This bird is found in several other states such as Texas, Kansas, and New Mexico to name a few. They will primarily eat seeds and plants, so they affect the amount of seeds in the area. If they were to decrease in size, the number of insects and grain would rise. Because they are prey, they must take advantage of the tall grasses to hide from predators such as raccoons, coyotes, foxes, and even other birds of prey that include some eagles and falcons. Consumer Type: Scaled Quails largely live off of seeds and plants such as roots and weeds. They also eat lots of seeds and some grains. With their diet of both plants and insects, they are an omnivore. They are a forager for greens (grasses, roots and weeds) as it supports them. Range: This type of quail likes desert like environments, so they take to the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico, states all known for their grasslands and dry climates. Types of Symbiotic Relationships Service Mutualism: The scaled quail has many relationships, ranging from it s diet to environment. The scaled quail will take the seeds and other plants it finds to survive. In turn, the bird will help spread the seeds, allowing opportunity for new growth for the plant. Overall, this in itself is a mutualistic relationship, as the birds gets a means of food and helps the plant by spreading its seeds. Since it helps the plant transport it s seeds, it belongs in the category of service mutualism. The scaled quail will use any available cover it runs across. Thus, a
  • 11. The Pros And Cons Of The Eugenics Movement In the 19th century progressive era the idea of eugenics began to take form and became a widely spread political, scientific, and social movement. Throughout history there have been numerous political leaders and scientist who have sought to alter the human race to design a purer society. The thoughts of purifying humans can be mostly commonly associated with the Holocaust which was one of the lowest points in the history of civilization. Similarly, in ideas The EugenicsMovement focused on mitigating undesirable traits from generation to generation. The idea that improvement of human kind like breeding can t be left up to nature, but with the use of the eugenics program it would better society. By sterilizing the mentally ill and feeble minded, eugenicists goals were to better public health, restrict immigration, and regulate reproduction. In these efforts, the movement sought to isolate the pure American genes and save them from being tainted by bad genes. Bettering the public health of America falls under negative eugenics. Eliminating people with genetic diseases, disabilities, and disorders was the goal to controlling public health. Harry Hamilton Laughlin was a popular American Eugenicist who greatly contributed to eugenics policy. He advocated for compulsory sterilization of the unfit to be spread throughout America and for laws to be placed in all states. In his primary source, he states that [s]terilization prevents the transmission of their weaknesses to children,
  • 12. Maupassant s The Necklace In Guy de Maupassant s The Necklace Mathilde Loisel, a middle class housewife, fantasizes about leading a life of wealth. Mme. Loisel is a proud woman. She feels herself born for all the delicacies and all the luxuries . Since she was born into a middle class family, she lacks access to the comforts of an upper class life. Thinking that her beauty should earn her a higher place in society, she is discontent. She stopped seeing her wealthy former schoolmate because she suffered ceaselessly when she came back. Seeing Mme. Forestier, whom Loisel had once viewed as a peer, in a higher social status than herself disgusts Loisel. Loisel s pride causes her to make her first mistake shortly before the ball. Committed to the belief that there s nothing more humiliating than to look poor around other women who are rich, she decides that to merely have a dress is not good enough. She tells her husband that she wants jewelry. So she asks her old school friend (whom she otherwise avoids) if she can borrow a necklace, which as far as she knows may be worth thirty six thousand francs. She uses this necklace at the ball, dancing with other men than her husband, while he sleeps in the back room. Between the hours in a crowded ballroom and the long walk to find a cab in the night, it was not at all improbable that the seemingly valuable necklace would have been stolen. Whether the necklace is stolen or just misplaced, it is indeed lost. Had she stopped to think, Mme. Loisel may have realized that there was some risk in borrowing a necklace that she thought was so expensive. Also, the impression she makes at the ball would not likely have much bearing on her life later on. Her refusal to wear natural roses shows us that one of her worst fears is to appear poor. Thus to prevent injury to her pride she makes a gamble in which winning will bring little, and losing, although the chance of such is overlooked, has drastic
  • 13. Just War Theory Essay Just War Theory Price reduced due to problems with format One of the perennial realities of human existence is war. From the earliest recorded events of human history all the way through to modern times, human communities have engaged in armed conflict as a method of dispute resolution. While war has been a constant part of the human experience, there has also been a tendency within virtually all human civilisations to limit the extent of war and the methods by which warfare may be conducted.(1) In Western civilisation, this limitation on warfare has taken shape as an effort to limit both the determination of when war is appropriate and the means used in battle.(2) Within the Western moral, legal, and political arena, the connected ... The Religious Sources of Just War Theory Many of the key thinkers who have expounded on just war theory through the centuries have identified themselves with the Christian faith, both in its Catholic and Protestant varieties. Just war theory has also gained a general acceptance among Christian theologians, philosophers, and jurists as a method of passing judgement on the morality or immorality of a particular conflict.(8) The general Christian conception of just war theory forms the core of secular just war theory and as such has had a tremendous influence on the secular conception of the just war.(9) Early Christian approaches to war were largely pacifistic in nature, due to a focus in the early Church to the notion that Christians were distinct from the rest of society.(10) However, with the growing Christianization of the Roman Empire, and the increasing political and social influence of the Christian Church, Christian theologians during the fourth and fifth centuries began to develop justifications for the use of force which would eventually take

The political system of governance in a country determines the extent of the involvement of the state in the labour relationship. In a democratic system, the intervention of the state is supposed to be limited. The free market system determines the labour relationship. In this environment the role of trade unions is limited as is that of conflict and industrial action. Labour legislation covers the bare minimum and employers are often only responding to the demands of the market. On the other side of the political spectrum, the state controls and owns all productive resources. The labour relationship is regulated and there is no need for trade unions. Between these extremes, countries have, to a greater or lesser degree, some form of regulation of the labour relationship through legislative frameworks. In advanced democracies, the fundamental human rights of individuals and employees are protected by the constitution. Labour market intervention in these countries is normally because of economic reasons. In South Africa, there has always been state intervention in the labour relationship. During the apartheid era there was a dual system in labour relations. There was a legislative framework governing white workers and a separate framework governing other workers. The implemented recommendations of the Wiehahn Commission in 1979, lead to

A negative interest rate is defined as an interest rate below zero, in which the person, bank, etc. lending the money pays interest to the one borrowing the money in dictionary.cambridge.org. Section 74 introduced a statutory definition of consent, where a person consents if he agrees by choice, and has the freedom and capacity to make that choice ; and section 76 introduced a list of conclusive presumptions on the absence of consent. The provisions were introduced to clarify the law on consent, which prior to the Act was scarce and unclear. However, from their inception the amendments have been criticized for generating further confusion. First, the relationship between s.74 and 76 is ambiguous, whether s.76 is an exhaustive list of deceptions or whether other deceptions fall under s.74 has an impact on the case law, as illustrated in McNally and Assange. Twentieth Century And Vatican II Essay TWENTIETH CENTURY AND VATICAN II The twentieth century was a witness to a new social organization of the state and the rising of totalitarian regimes, which represented a threat to the principles of the individual that the Church defended. However, it would be PopeJohn XXIII and the Second Vatican Councilwho would affirm clearly the stance of the Church on this issue. The totalitarian states claimed an ethical state that would be free from any kind of relationship with religions. Thus, religion became only a private practice in some European states. Meanwhile, the Catholic Churchcontinued to demand a thesis/hypothesis kind of relationship with the states, which was in place since the nineteenth century. Herminio Rico S.J. explains in his book John Paul II and the Legacy of Dignitatis Humanae that the thesis principle was that the Catholic Church was the true religion and as true religion, only she should be allowed to have public worship. In addition, the state should have the Church as the official religion and any other religions should be forbidden of worshiping in public to prevent the faithful to fall in error. (Dhananjay, 2012, Oct 4] The purpose of this report is to find out why the slum issues remain even after many years. Slums in Delhi has been around since the late 70s and it has since continued to grow in the number of the population living in slums. Slums comprise a social cluster that engenders a distinct set of health problems. With estimated half of its population living in such communities, this neglected population has a wide spectrum of health conditions. (Lee W Riley, Albert L Ko, Alon Unger and Mitermayer G Reis,2007, Mar 7) Water and sanitation in slums are the major cause of the high death rates as diseases spread around and they do not have good access to healthcare. The water that they fetch is not the water we drink instead it is not clean and purified for drinking, it is contaminated with diseases that are the major cause for huge death rates, especially in children. The issue still exists and does not persist is because mainly of the huge corruption in India`s government. Corruption in India can be traced back to the country`s

His epitaph is from John 9:4: I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. NASA actively propels the development of Solar Electric Propulsion which is a strong sign that electric propulsion is definitely a promising research direction. However, two main problems issues still needed to be solved. Firstly, most of electric propulsion devices are designed for spacecraft; however, low amounts of electrical power are available onboard. Secondly, electric thrusters work with small flows of propellants which result in knockdown acceleration. Both of these could be solved by finding better alternative propellants or coming up with innovative design methods. As one of the world leading technology institutions, Princeton set up the Electric Propulsion and Plasma Dynamics Laboratory to focus on the lithium Lorentz force accelerator. Because of enthusiasm Princeton shows in the electric propulsion and efforts made to push its development, I wish I could have the opportunity to join the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at Princeton and study with Professor Edgar Choueiri. Libraries, schools, transportation, the armed forces. Sports teams were just as rigorously divided into two sects the Negro leagues and the major leagues. There was no question about which division a black man would play for. Nobody dared cross the rift between whites and blacks; they were too afraid. Eventually, however, all it took was one man to begin breaking down the barrier. Jackie Robinsons time in baseball s major leagues broke color lines and brought about significant social changes both on and off the field. Jack Roosevelt Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia. His parents, Mallie and Jerry Robinson, were from poor sharecropping families and had four other children Willa Mae, Edgar, Frank, and Matthew Mack (who later became a silver medalist at the 1936 Summer Olympics). When Jackie, the youngest, was barely one year old, his father left the family. Mallie Robinson moved her children from Cairo to a relatively poor neighborhood in Pasadena, California. Jackie Robinson was often excluded from activities and spent a short time in a gang (he was persuaded to abandon it by a friend). In 1935, Robinson was enrolled at John Muir High School, where he was inspired by his athletic older brothers to play sports. Soon he was playing at varsity level in many events, including football, baseball, and track and field. He

There are several theories on how the evolution from wolf to dog came about. One theory is that the human environment attracted wolves. Wolves started following people around to take advantage of food scraps that were left behind. Eventually, wolves lost fear of people, and people lost fear of wolves. The benefits of this new relationship were not just one way. Wolves also helped humans by sniffing out prey and helping them hunt. Success likely meant the humans would share their food with wolves. This is a very popular theory, but it has been disputed. Archeological digs show that the early dogs were not eating the same mammoth meat that the humans were eating. Instead, their main diet consisted mostly of less popular human meat such as reindeer. The prehistoric dogs also had many broken teeth and severe facial wounds. Although these injuries could be from fighting with other dogs, many scientists believe the dogs had been beaten with sticks, leading many to assume the relationship between man and prehistoric dog was not as companionable as the theory would suggest. The conflicts with this first theory, have led some scientist to suggest a different theory. Some scientists propose that humans brought wolf pups to camp, possibly after finding them in

The program will encourage participation from the concurrent enrolled high school students, as well as students that are classified within the at risk category. Each student at registration will receive information regarding the program, and encourage to participate when attending orientation. Identified Need The implementation and formulation of the program are highly informed by the fact that certain groups of students desperately need interventions to enhance their academic performance and increase their retention rates (Stromel, 2000). She was really excited, but tried to keep her smile down to just a grin. Shouldn t we still vote? Just to be fair.
