The Importance of Improving Communication Skills in the...
My biggest challenge while trying to move up the corporate ladder is interpersonal communication
with co workers and presentation speeches in front of the owners and financial managers. During my
childhood, I did not have the opportunity to communicate with my parents or examples of loud
arguments and negative personal attacks. Humans develop language and social skills from its
surroundings so I guess I can blame mine on my dysfunctional family. At least I did almost five years
ago. When the Director of Finance promoted me to senior accountant, his only constructive criticism
was to attend different communication courses to groom me for the Assistant Director of Finance
position.
The frustration of feeling misunderstood and being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even in the present day, people are judged by the color of their skin and in the corporate world by
gender. I don t have to go far for a great example. In my corporate world, being a Caucasian woman is
like fighting an uphill battle. No matter how many classes I complete, it does not stop others from
asking and responding defensively or seeing me as a threat.
Now, I find myself in a conflict with some of the male directors, which affects my emotions, mental
state, and personal beliefs. It may be a result of an individual s perceptual and personal discomfort.
Style, selective perception, halo effect, poor attention and retention, defensiveness, close mindedness,
insufficient filtration are the Individual or Psychological barrier . (Jain, 2009)
A list of the do s for breaking the barrier:
Allow employees access to resources, self expression and idea generation.
Express your expectations to others.
Use less of absolute words such as never , always , forever , etc.
Be a good, attentive and active listener.
Filter the information correctly before passing on to someone else.
Use specific and accurate words which audiences can easily understand.
Try and view the situations through the eyes of the speaker.
Maintain eye contact with the speaker and make him comfortable.
Write the instructions if the information is very detailed or complicated.
Oral communication must be clear and not

Essay about Borgata Case Study Industrial Orgnizational...
Industrial/Organizational Psychology Mod 2 Critical Thinking
As former Director of Marketing for Monster.com, I am very familiar with the benefits and pitfalls of
high volume/high quality recruiting. If I were conducting the extensive recruitment that the Borgata
required, I would have done exactly the same thing and relied on outside expertise and technology to
attain recruitment goals. As John Schadler of Hotel and Motel Management states: Instead of the
traditional recruitment effort (the standard black and while, all text ad in Sunday s classified section),
hotels and resorts are using colorful full page ads in lifestyle magazines, witty dialogue in radio
advertising and dramatic visuals on outdoor billboards to attract the best ... Show more content on

The Borgata wisely chose to use an integrated solutions marketing and recruitment technology
company to assist them. Just prior to my being hired by Monster.com, Monster had experienced a
huge problem with a similar recruiting effort for the Transportation Security Administration and we
were still dealing with the aftermath. Rather than select Monster.com for help, Borgata chose a
company that offered similar services named PeopleSoft and achieved satisfactory results (Business
Wire, 2003.)
Many factors go into the recruiting and screening of a large volume of applicants, particularly within a
short time frame. While electronic media has certainly altered the landscape of recruiting, it would not
be efficient to broadcast across millions in order to obtain suitable candidates. Obviously it is most
cost and time effective to mine from applicants that already fit specific target demographics such as
physical proximity to workplace, background and skills, etc. PeopleSoft at that time was a software
driven company, but Monster.com as the largest database company in the world, had not only the
software but also the capacity to specifically target the most appropriate demographics in order to
enhance the quality of the recruitment by mining from their own

Animal Domestication History
Looking back at the history of animal domestication, dogs were the one of the first animals to be
victimized. Evidence dates back to about 15,000 years ago. Even in the early ages, dogs were deemed
as sincere guardians and hunters. They have played a vital role in the history of warfare starting from
ancient times.
Dogs were used by Egyptians, Persians, Slavs, Romans and Greeks. The Molossus dog was thought to
be the most powerful dog by the Romans and underwent intense training for war. The Romans and
Greeks exploited dogs for the purpose of defense. During the Late Antuquity, Atilla the Hun used
Molosser dogs. The Spanish conquerors of Mexico and Peru in the 16th century used armored dogs
who were skilled to kill the locals. Dogs were also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hind legs are firm and bulky whereas the front legs are relaxed and flexible. This permits faster
and longer strides while maintaining stability. The claws attached to their feet help them to gain speed
and have a firm grip on the ground. War dogs have a sharp sense of hearing which can go up to as far
as 35,000 hertz. One of the essential qualities that dogs have is their loyalty. They are always
defending and protecting their handlers. Working dogs possess the ability to detect change in the
environment and react to it accordingly. The are able to detect those changes that human beings are
unable to, making them more efficient and reliable. They are trained to act as an alarm for any sort of
incoming danger. Patrol dogs are aggressive dogs that attack the provoker and relentlessly bark to
warn the people nearby. Explosive dogs have an acute sense of smell and hence are trained to
differentiate between the various explosives and drugs. The tradition of use of military dogs is still
alive in the modern world. As of 2011, 600 police dogs took part in the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Stereotyping In Classroom
I was surprised that the author felt the need to tell students to avoid stereotyping their professors.
However, I felt this was a good point to mention, since making assumptions about people should have
no part in the classroom. I was also surprised that the author seemed upset that students presumed her
to be a nice person when she had clearly stated she was not a nice teacher on the syllabus. Hoping
your professor is nice and understanding is not stereotyping; it is students expecting college to be like
high school.
I think the best piece of effort given by the author is to make the extra effort. The author advises that if
you are given a chance to do another draft or lab, take it. If your professor suggests attending an on
campus event,

Asia Minor Research Paper
Asia Minor was known as Anatolia to the people of the ancient world. It was referred to as the land
where the sun rises (Mark), by the Greeks. Throughout history, Asia Minor was occupied by several
great empires and witnessed their rise and fall. It lay near the Mediterranean, Caspian, and Black seas
and was the perfect spot for different groups to build their civilization on and trade with other regions.
With all of the different cultures that invaded, each developed its own mythology. So, Asia Minor
shares an assortment of interesting mythological history with cultures like the Greeks, Hittites, and
Romans. Asia Minor, which is now mostly present day Turkey, is a region with a rich historical and
mythological background due to its location ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anatolian communities began to develop agriculture in the 8th century B.C. The Anatolians became
big trading partners with the people of Sumer due to their large supply of minerals and precious metals
from the mountains. Later, at around 2000 B.C., the success of these river valleys attracted the Indo
European tribe of the Hittites. The Hittite empire dominated for 450 years, conquered Babylon, and
was even able to fight Egypt to a draw. The accomplishments of the Hittites survived in future
advanced cultures like the use of iron and chariots in war. The Persians, Greeks, and Assyrians were a
few of the peoples that later came to take the place of the Hittites. Around the time the Greeks came to
power was where many of the greatest accomplishments were made. Two of the seven wonders of the
world were built in Asia Minor. They were the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus and the Mausoleum of
Halicarnassus in Caria. The first western philosopher, Thales, was born in Ionia and began scientific
inquiry and methods. Herodotus, the `Father of History was born at Halicarnassus.(Mark) Pythagoras
was also born in Asia Minor, and the apostle Paul was born in Cilicia. The idea of coinage began in
Asia Minor, which is the trade of coined money and goods. When Rome took over, roads and cities
improved and Christianity prospered. Later, the Byzantine and Ottoman empires rose and fell until the

Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill Analysis
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill the story of a Lioness
During the dawn of the new century, a young black woman taps on her microphone, surrounded by
everything from the romantic twang of a harp to the rustic beat of the timpani drum. Her hair twisted
in locks, envelopes her face the studio lights streaming on her face make her look like a lion,
courageous and proud of herself, her ideals and her vision. This isn t even the beginning. Lauryn Hill s
story starts in a township named after the Prince of Orange, in New Jersey where she grew up
listening to Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and Gladys Knight. As a freshman in
high school Hill (now going by L. Boogie) started Tranzlator Crew with Pras Michel. Later, Wyclef
Jean replaced one of their original female singers and they renamed their band to the Fugees (inspired
by the word refugee an offensive term for Haitian Americans) and focused mostly on genre bending in
reggae, rock and soul.
During the early Fugees days Jean and Hill started dating. However, there was always a healthy
competition between Jean and Hill, with both trying to outdo the other vocally and professionally.
Ultimately, they continued their relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Daisy Confidante In The Great Gatsby
You re just embarrassed, that s all, and luckily I added: Daisy s embarrassed too. In F. Scott Fitzgerald
s, The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, the narrator, plays a character with the most supportive of roles.
Nick spends most of his time throughout the deceitful tale of Gatsby being a somewhat true friend to
the main character, Jay Gatsby, earning the title of confidante when Gatsby feeds his personal life to
the mouth that is Nick s lent ear. Nick also receives credence from many of the other characters. But
for a soul like Nick, living in the 1920s doesn t seem to be his era. The 1920 s was an era for being
easy going, partying, and investing in the stock market. An era such as this created a perfect setting for
The Great Gatsby by using the dreamlike of the age to create the beautiful drama of Jay, Daisy, and
Tom. Likewise, Nick Carraway proves that his persona is the only one carrying the characteristics of a
legendary confidante. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Is The Rhinoceros
If everyone around you, including your family, wore pink clothes to fit in, would you wear them too?
What if I switched the option of pink clothes to turning into a rhinoceros? In the play Rhinoceros by
Eugene Ionesco, the main character, Berenger, is introduced as a man who lacks interest in his image
and responsibilities. You could say that he battles with the expectations of being an adult. We usually
describe an adult to be seen as a person that is more responsible, has a job and knows their direction in
life. Rather than pretending to be the common perception of an adult, Berenger is upfront about his
feelings of resentment towards his job, not being responsible and finding no purpose in life except for
his love for partner Daisy. Unlike his friends, he is true to his identity, and surpasses the will to turn
into a rhinoceros. Contradictory to how his friends claim they were responsible, smart ... Show more

He thoughtfully relates Nazis to large beasts that are known for moving in masses and causing
destruction. In the play, the rhinoceroses rapidly increase in size, almost like an epidemic. In history,
following Hindenburg s death in 1934, Hitler s gain in power resulted in storm troopers threatening
political parties against the Nationalist Socialist German Worker s Party. With storm troopers, political
rallies and propaganda by his side, Hitler rapidly increased the Nazi Party between 1933 and 1937.
His troops enforced rules and forced citizens to support him by causing destruction and threatening to
do worse. As the play progresses, the rhinoceroses become superior and are seen as beautiful
creatures. The characters believe in the mentality of a race being more dominant and acceptable.
Similar to Hitler s infatuation with the Aryan race, the rhinoceroses emphasize how Hitler tried to
convince a nation that one race was supreme, and that violence and genocide would benefit the

SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF HISTORICAL EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY TRENDS IN
ESTABLISHING THE CAUSAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HPV AND CERVICAL CANCER:
For centuries, the etiology of cancer of the cervix remained unknown and there were several attempts
by past scientists to establish the cause of cervical cancer without much success. However, the earliest
breakthroughs came in the 1930s while Dr Richard Shope of the Rockefeller University was working
on wild rabbits that had developed horn , which upon further analysis, was caused by a virus that
could be transmitted. This discovery played a crucial part in the subsequent studies by Dr Zur Hausen
(Cummings 2011).
According to Moghissi and Mack (1968), one of the earliest epidemiological studies to probe into the
relationship between sexual intercourse and cervical cancer involved prostitutes in a prison in the U.S
whose exceptional social peculiarities bordered on sexual intercourse with multiple partners. This
epidemiological study concluded by identifying early exposure to coitus and multiple sexual partners
as the primary etiologic bases for the development of cancer of the cervix.
In the classic research by Gagnon involving the study of 13,000 Canadian Nuns, he found no single
case of cervical cancer (cited in Fenoglio 1982). This was a significant finding in that it concretized
the association between sexual exposure and cancer of the cervix thereby paving the way for further
descriptive studies to investigate the relationship.

Is The Line Between Freedom Of Religion And Public...
Where is the line between freedom of religion and freedom from religion? What is my role as a
teacher in a classroom to ensure that students are given their rights per the first amendment? Where is
religion s place in the classroom, or should it be welcome at all within the walls of public education?
These are just a few questions that come to mind in context of religion and education when planning
for my future classroom. Consequently, there are questions that remain unanswered when asked of
instructors within the education program, due to fear of being incorrect or misleading. As a preservice
teacher, I feel completely unprepared for when these issues arise in my classroom and have an
uncomfortable feeling in regards of legality in terms of the situation. However, I am not naive to think
that there is a definitive answer about what is right and wrong in terms of religion and public
education. With this concept in mind, the intent of this paper is to create a descriptive protocol for
teachers handle situations in the classroom that will neither suppress nor indoctrinate his/her students

discussion of what qualifies as religion. Deep in the middle of the bible belt, Oklahoma is notorious

How Did The Capture Of Nazi Germany s Recovery During The...
When the Great Depression began, the British Empire suffered for high unemployment and poverty.
The empire was still recovering from the Great War and the Depression surprised many government
officials. Soon enough, the government took emergency measures to balance the budget and restore
confidence in the pound by issuing an emergency budget, which immediately instituted a round of
cuts in public spending and wages. Public sector wages and unemployment pay were cut by 10%, and
income tax was raised from 4s 6d to 5s in the pound. However, these measures were unsuccessful as
unemployment rose and the gold standard dropped. After years of measures to combat against the
depression, a slow recovery begun in 1934 because of the withdrawal from the gold standard and the
devaluation of the pound. As a result, British exports became more competitive on world markets.
During that period of recovery, Nazi Germany was born as Hitler took complete control of the country.

They result in the following environmental threats like greenhouse effect, acidification, over
fertilization and depletion of the ozone layer. Impact of metals increasing levels of heavy metals such
as mercury and lead in the ground raise the risk of these leaking into the rivers, lakes and seas. These
elements cannot be broken down when repeatedly absorbed by organisms and they reach toxic levels.
Exploitation of the natural environment The eco cycle dictates that natural resources are returned to
the environment at the same rate as they are extracted. The use of fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural
gases which are used in transport or to facilitate transport are extracted more than what can be
returned thus going against the principle of eco cycle. Expansion of transport requirements involves
bringing down of tree and extracting from the ground which affects the environment. An example is
the bypass that is running parallel to the Nairobi national park that is going to affect how the wildlife

All living things ultimately depend on this process. The compounds plants make during
photosynthesis provide nutrients and energy to organisms that consume plants. Organisms that
consume the plant eaters gain nutrients and energy from them, so both energy and materials are passed
from organism to organism. Plants capture light energy and transform it into chemical energy. This
chemical energy is transferred from plants to animals via the food chains. Respiration: the process by
which cells obtain energy. In this process, organic molecules, particularly sugars, are broken down to
produce carbon dioxide and water, and energy is released. Without photosynthesis there would not be
energy or carbohydrates available for the growth and reproduction of (almost) all organisms. In
addition photosynthesis produces oxygen, which is essential for the release of energy in cells by the
process of respiration. Uses of Energy by Organisms Energy from respiration powers all the processes
of life. Some energy is released as heat. Other activities include: * Growth * Muscle contraction and
movement * Synthesis of complex chemicals * Repair of damaged cells * Reproduction Aerobic

biochemical reactions. It s a controlled process occurring as a sequence of around 50 different

Cinematic Techniques In Tim Burton Films
In Tim Burton films and shorts he uses cinematic techniques such as lighting, music/sound, and
editing to his advantage to portray and emphasize the atmosphere of specific scenes in his movies.
Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Burton
edition) all facilitate these methods distinctively. These techniques influence and the manipulate the
audience s view on the film. If the music/sound is cheerful in the beginning the audience will most
likely perceive and predict that the whole movie will be jubilant. Concerning lighting, If a scene has
faint, shadowy illumination the scene will most likely be identified as glum or sullen. The opposite of

For instance in The Nightmare Before Christmas there is a fine example of music/ sound affecting the
mood when comparing the two towns (Christmas and Halloween). Both of the towns music represents
the characters and the ideals that each town is set on. In Halloween town the music is dark, mysterious
and contains snake charmer melodies showing that it is based on being scary and mysterious just like
Halloween. The opposite of this is in Christmas town where the neighborhoods are filled with
cheerful, upbeat, repetitive music which convey the happiness of Christmas and the townspeople in
general. Music/Sound also has a major influence in Edward Scissorhands . For instance in the segment
of the movie where Edward has a flashback and the invention room is being showed you can hear the
rhythmic thump to the machinery making cookies, this sound conveys to the audience a
mysteriousness of the factory and the robots and questions what this has to do with Edward. In
addition to this there is also a scene when Kim goes outside to see what Edward is doing and
encounters him making snow from ice sculpture. She has never seen snow so when this interaction
happens there is a melodic, angel music being placed with this scene. However when she ventures to

United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund Essay

November 8, 2016
Introduction In this paper I m going explore United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund
(UNICEF) and what they do to provide food and nutrition to people in developing countries. Also in
this paper I will be exploring Community food banks and what they do to provide food and nutrition
to people in need in the U.S. There is a statement in our text that obesity results from over nutrition. Is
this always true? Is it possible to be obese and lack adequate nutrition? Which foods contribute most
to obesity? How nutritious are those foods?
United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund (UNICEF)
What they do to provide food and nutrition to people in developing countries UNICEF was created in
1946 to provide relief to children in countries devastated by World War II. After 1950 the fund
directed its efforts toward general programs for the improvement of children s welfare, particularly in

The Pros And Cons Of Flag Burning
On August 22, 1984, Gregory Lee Johnson was arrested for setting the U.S. flag on fire. His simple act
of protest led to the Supreme Court ruling that flag burning is protected under the First Amendment as
free speech, thus overturning his conviction. The flag symbolizes freedom, and part of that freedom is
being able to express dissatisfaction with the government. However, some see flag burning not merely
as a demonstration of opinion, but as an attack on national unity and American values. Should it be
illegal to burn the U.S. flag as an form of protest, or is this method within the rights of American
citizens? Johnson set the stars and stripes ablaze at the 1984 Republican National Convention after
participating in a protest march against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concerning the outcome of Texas v. Johnson, Justice William Brennan delivered the opinion of the
court: If there is a bedrock principle underlying the First Amendment, it is that government may not
prohibit the expression of an idea simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or
disagreeable. Flag burning may be offensive to loyal Americans, but it is not threatening enough by
itself to justify punishment. Brennan also stated that we do not consecrate the flag by punishing its
desecration, for in so doing we dilute the the freedom that this cherished emblem represents. In
Johnson s case, the Supreme Court valued constitutional principles rather than patriotic preferences.
The Supreme Court s stance on flag burning has remained the same since. Nevertheless, thirty years
after United States v. Eichman, there is still controversy over whether or not it should be legal. A
recent example of the present discussion on flag burning is a tweet made by President Donald Trump
in 2016: Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag if they do, there must be consequences
perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail! However, without a reason to change the law besides
personal opinion, the Supreme Court is not likely to reverse their decision and make flag burning

The Riverton Community Pool Is Located Just Off Of Forest Ave
The Riverton Community Pool is located just off of Forest Ave in Portland, and is attached to the
Riverton Community Center, including a library and gymnasium, and Riverton Elementary. The
facility features a large parking lot with plenty of spaces for both employees and patrons. After
entering the building, the location of the pool is not extremely clear; there are no signs directing
patrons to the pool area. The production space is well lit by lights that are around the pool (but not
above), and does not smell of overwhelming chlorine. The pool is 25 meters long with six lanes. The
pool also has a shallow and deep end, with the shallowest point being four feet deep, and the deepest
point being 13 ½ feet deep. The floor surrounding the pool is made of tile to prevent patrons from
slipping and falling when the floor is wet. The walls surrounding the building are made of
cinderblocks that were painted white. These types of walls tend to echo, so the ceiling and upper walls
are lined with sound panels to reduce the extra noise. The temperature of the water falls anywhere
between 80 and 83 degrees fahrenheit so patrons do not overheat when swimming. The air is also kept
around 83 degrees to help keep patrons warm when they exit the water. Unfortunately, a master plan
was unable to be located online or at the facility. Master plan documents typically contain a table of

Analysis of Real Altruism Essay
Helping someone in need or getting the feeling of wanting to help someone in need is something that
happens in everyone s life. It is a common thought that animals help each other expecting to gain
something in return. But in some cases, helping is not linked to immediate returning benefits or these
are inexistent. This type of behavior has caught the attention of psychologists interested in
understanding the ideas and thoughts behind it. Can this be considered real altruism? Psychologists
have been studying this issue suggesting different ideas to explain altruistic behavior. This essay will
talk about altruism and some of the real ideas over the thinking that altruistic behavior comes from
real altruistic ideas, helping with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evolutionary psychologists like Rushton (1991) argue how altruism is part of evolution that originates
from genetic purposes. Most studies show that people would rather help a relative or a friend that they
have known for a long time instead of someone they are not related or don t have a connection too. It
is understandable that helping a relative or someone we have known for a while could be a normal
thing and bring us benefit in some way, but it is hard to explain when people and animals show
compassion for complete strangers. This apparent altruistic behavior suggests that real altruism does
exist. To study this opinion some tried to look at the emotions and cognitive things that were
happening to the person before they were helping this person. Piliavin, 1981, as cited in Hogg and
Vaughan, 2008, suggested that the act of not helping someone in need could result in costing the
people around them. These could be either an emphatic or of a personal nature. That is, the person
helping someone may feel bad if choosing not to help someone. They did a study on three cognitive
areas a person standing there goes through before knowing or thinking what the outcome may be from
helping that person. First the person suffers from physiological arousal, which means to feel
distressful or uncomfortable in the troubles of that person. Secondly, the person around this person
needs to deal with this feeling. As explained by Vaughan and Hogg, this feeling alone

Essay On Italian Stereotypes
Slicked back hair, tank tops with tomato sauce stains. These are just some of the things you might
think about Italian people when they come to mind. But, are Italian stereotypes real? How do they
happen? Why are certain stereotypes associated with Italian people? During this speech, I will inform
you about Italian stereotypes, mannerisms and traditions and if they re real. Some have happened to
me in my daily life and some I have researched so I could tell you about them today. I will soon touch
on Italians and food, Italians and family and of course, Italians and mannerisms.
It could involve making the food, eating the food and what happens when eating it at the table. So, let
me tell you a story... I was in Montreal to see my grandparents. I arrived at their house with my family.
Once we settled in, I started snooping around being the nosey person I am. I went to my Nonno s

How I Changed My Life Forever
The one choice that changed my life forever was that our family emigrated from Hong Kong to
Canada in 1974. I was only seven years old. My Chinese name is Sau Han and this is my immigration
history. My family came to Canada for a job offer but mainly it was for a better life. I had to leave
behind many loving family members in Hong Kong. We also left behind our old lives, furniture, car,
apartment, and friends. Our journey began when we hopped on a JAL (Japan airlines) jumbo jet on a
sixteen hour flight to Vancouver, British Columbia with a brief stop over in Tokyo, Japan. Everything
looked foreign to us on our arrival. What we hoped in the future was to be able to learn English, to
adapt to our foreign surroundings, to settle down in our new home, and to go back to visit our friends
and relatives in Hong Kong. These challenges are just the first of many obstacles to be faced. This
immigration was not just a new beginning for my family but also a window of opportunity for the next
generation. We had an intriguing story of how we immigrated to Canada. My family consisted of
myself, my mom and dad, my older brother, Chi Hung, my older sister, Sau Seng, and my younger
brother, Chi Wai. We lived in a descent three bedroom apartment in the New Territories, Hong Kong.
On November, 1973, I vividly remembered my dad s ex employer, Mr. Chow, called long distance
from Vancouver, Canada and offered my dad a dim sum chef position in his restaurant, the Golden

Policy Issues in Telehealth Essay
Policy Issues in Telehealth The purpose of telemedicine is to remove distance as a barrier to health
care. While telehealth is an accepted resource to bridge the gap between local and global health care,
integrating telehealth into existing health infrastructures presents a challenge for both governments
and policy makers (HRSA, 2011). Today there are policy barriers that prevent the expansion of
telehealth, including reimbursement issues raised by Medicare and private payers, state licensure, and
liability and privacy concerns. Reimbursement Issues Reimbursement policies prevent the total
integration of telemedicine into health care practice (Prinz, 2008). Today, there is no overall

because the federal government does not mandate reimbursement for telehealth under Medicaid, states
have the option to reimburse for Medicaid services through telehealth. For example, in states such as
Alaska and Hawaii Medicare does cover store and forward applications, such as teledermatology,
whereas 35 states allow for at least some reimbursement for telehealth services. Medicaid
reimbursement for telehealth services by psychologists is available in 13 states. Coverage and billing

policies are also differentiated by states; each state in the United States has various standards by which
Medicaid programs decide on reimbursements for telehealth expenses. To date, 12 states

Comparing Donn Rosen And Skepticism
Making a list of assumptions that inhibit scientific progress (Rosen 2016), especially when the
assumptions are mostly long held and cherished beliefs by many in comparative biology, identified
Donn Rosen as a skeptic. Skepticism has a long, storied, and varied history, which I am not going to
recount, but I can probably be safe to define skepticism as a philosophical view that raises doubts
about the adequacy or reliability of the evidence that could be offered to justify any proposition
(Popkin 2003). Now the kind of doubts, the kind of adequacy, the kind of evidence, and the kind of
justification associated with schools of skepticism vary widely, but suffice to say the general feel of
the definition covers most forms. The goal of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rosen was not a formal skeptic in that he did not devise approaches or arguments to detect when
evidences or beliefs did not support knowledge claims. I argue he was a skeptic in that he voiced
concerns, doubts, about apparent evidence that supposedly supported particular beliefs, ideas, or
dogmas. So his skepticism was based on evidence, on his conclusions that observation did not match
theory, regardless of how dearly the theory was held by others. What Rosen certainly was not, was a
denier. As in the individual that simply denies something without regard to evidence, an evolution of
life did not happen type of denier. Rosen was lumped into the pattern cladist school that was
characterized by Beatty (1982) as being antievolution (Carpenter 1987), thus possibly considered a
denier. Brady (1982), among many others (e.g. Patterson 1982; Platnick 1982, Carpenter, 1987)
rescued pattern cladistics from the misinterpretation of Beatty. Regardless, if we are stuck with the
assumption that the evolution of life followed a strictly neo Darwinian process, then what other ideas
are left to explore when inconsistencies crop up? That was Rosen s position as a skeptic, asking can
we do cladistics without a neo darwinian covering theory? And so, we see that as his inhibiting
assumption

Catholicism s attack on women s healthcare has the greatest effect on poor women who do not have
the means to pay out of pocket for private insurance and doctors. It is essential to be mindful of how
our actions have ramifications beyond ourselves and are shaped by our privilege. Our actions have
consequences. As a woman of privilege in relation to other women in this world, my actions will
naturally have the tendency to support systems of oppression that intersect with feminism and hurt
women of color, poor women, and transgender women. I have the responsibility as a feminist to have
the self awareness of the effects of my privilege and the effects of my actions, and use my privilege to

Climate Change And Global Warming
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 General
Climate change and global warming has been warned to no longer be viewed lightly. These changes
are considered to be one of the biggest threats that being faced by nature and humanity today.
According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), climate
change can be defined as the changes of climate which is attributed either directly or indirectly
towards human activities which also able to change the composition of the global atmosphere. As an
addition to this matter, the natural climate changes seemed to change over comparable period of time.
Generally, Malaysia might be one of the lucky countries that do not experience extensive damages due
to extreme climate changes. However, mild climate related disasters are quite frequent to happen
lately. These refer to occurrence of landslides due to excessive rainfall and strong winds happened at
the hilly and the latter, at the coastal areas causing severe damage (MET, 2010).
Environmentally, climate change in Malaysia means increase in total heavy rain falls, rising mean sea
level and possibly extreme weather. Extreme weather can be fierce and destructive. According to the
fifth Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, if greenhouse gas emissions are
reduced significantly, the rise in global temperature will be about 2º C towards the end of century.
However, if no action should be taken due to this matter, the temperature might increase up

Judith Butler The Values Of Efficiency Summary
In Judith Butler s article The Values of Difficulty , in which she wrote in response to Denis Dutton s
article Language Crimes: A Lesson in How Not to Write, Courtesy of the Professoriate , she argues
that complex ideas require complex language to develop societal change and challenge common
sense. Butler shows how difficult language us useful, but I disagree with her overall claim. I do not
think that intricate wording is needed for a logical point to be made. Judith Butler wrote this article to
argue against the belief that scholarly writing is overcomplicated just to boast intelligence. Butler
begins by explaining how scholars, whose work topics focus on he humanities, are accused of bad
writing by the journal Philosophy and Literature. She believes that intellectuals in such fields should
explain how their work interplays in everyday life, but that these intellectuals should also create new
ways of looking at the world. A more socially just world would be possible if common sense were to
be challenged. Butler s definition of common sense is different than traditionally thought of. While
common sense may be defined as having good judgment in practical matters to most, she seems to
define it as an old way of thinking, stating that, Many quite nefarious ideologies pass for common
sense. For decades of American history, it was common sense in some quarters for white people to
own slaves and for women not to vote. (p.147) She thinks that for society to improve,

Why We Shouldn T Have Classroom Pets
Classroom have been known to have plenty of benefits, but are they really as good as they seem?
Classroom pets are well known since they help kids learn important lessons, but they have also been
known to hurt things in schools. Classroom pets hurt the animals, and support cruel pet trade and are
unhealthy. Clearly, classrooms pets are a very bad idea.
First of all, we shouldn t have classrooms pets is that it hurts the animals lives and their ways of life.
For example, some information from source 3 that supports this is, Many suffer from missed meals,
unsanitary living conditions, and lack of climate control. This means that people in the school forget

Some evidence from source 1 that supports this is: pets come from come from awful breeding
facilities where they ve been kept in horrific and filthy conditions. This means that people who do
horrible things to animals actually gain from some class pets bought off them. Sometimes a class that
can t care for the pet gives it away to these people. These bad conditions can cause a pet to catch a
disease, which could be carried to the classrooms. These people are bad, but won t be going out of
business to soon if we keep supporting them. More information that supports pets hurting kids from
source 1 is, Bacteria such as salmonella can be spread by the handling of reptiles and frogs, and
rodents such as hamsters can carry transmittable diseases. This shows that the good intentions of
helping kids learn life lessons can not only hurt the animals, but the people around the animals too. We
indirectly hurt kids if we let them near these types of pets. Not all pets carry diseases, but one that
have been brought up by cruel breeders have a greater chance to have these problems. Nobody wants

The civil war was a major event in the history of Mississippi. The president during this time was

union. The view of the state was that it was necessity for the state to have slavery. So the white
soldiers fought for the stand of keeping the slaves. Since they believed that the white citizens needed

Asthma is one of the most prevalent respiratory diseases. It is a chronic condition with recurring,
exacerbations characterized by bronchial hyper responsiveness and inflammation leading to airflow
obstruction (Cabana, et al., 2014). Over time, the chronic inflammation may cause permanent damage
to the airway (Wenzel, 2012). Asthma affects people of all ages but typically begins in childhood

acute asthma exacerbation. Additionally, it will cover how age and behavior can impact the
pathophysiology and influence the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Finally, mind maps will

In most cases it starts in childhood or early adulthood. However, it can happen later in life. Unlike
childhood asthma, adult onset asthma often has persistent symptoms (Wenzel, 2012). A large
percentage of adult onset asthma is brought on by allergies (Levy, et al., 2014). Childhood asthma can
lie dormant for a number of years and reappear in late adulthood (Wenzel, 2012).
Asthma may show symptoms of other diseases in an adult such as heart failure, COPD, rheumatic
arthritis or stomach problems (Levy, et al., 2014). Therefore, age will have the greatest impact on
diagnosis. A nurse practitioner must be aware of how adult onset asthma may mimic symptoms of
other expected age related ailments. As a larger portion of adult onset asthma is initiated by allergies,
acute pathophysiology may more closely resemble that of allergies (Levy, et al., 2014). Treatment for
adult onset would be focused on maintaining as it is predominantly chronic in nature. Additionally, a
thorough review of medication to ensure there are no incompatibilities (Levy, et al.,

Treatment For Adult Male Sex Offenders

Research I Treatment for Adult Male Sex Offenders October 27, 2014 Dr. Chacha Abstract
Introduction The reason for this study is to explain the different types of treatment for adult male sex
offenders. The reason for conducting this research is the interest in getting these offenders effective
treatment. Literature Review History of Sex Offender Treatment Until the mid 1980s the treatment of
sex offenders was conducted primarily in civil commitment programs in a few state hospitals, prisons,
and outpatient clinics scattered around the country. Sex offenders were often treated using a variety of
psychodynamic and client centered techniques. A major shift in the field came in 1983 with the
publication of an article that presented for the first time a relapse prevention model designed for
sexual offenders (Pithers, Marques, Gibat, Marlatt, 1983). Pithers and Marques adapted the work
pioneered by Marlatt for alcoholics. Relapse prevention is essentially a self control model that teaches
the individual to identify and recognize a unique pattern of thoughts, feelings, and situations that
precede and lead to relapses. Relapse in the case of sex offenders is a re offense. This pattern has a
signature quality to it. It is tailored to the cognitive, affective, and situation markers that are unique for
each individual. Once the pattern is fully understood, the individual learns

Tuesdays In The Tower Book Report
Many young children dream of living in a castle. A castle is a key part of many fairy tales, whether
they have a princess locked up in a tower, a terrible dragon inside which must be defeated, or the
castle is the home where a royal family resides. In Wednesdays in the Tower, by Jessica Day George,
the royal family indeed lives in a castle. They do not live in just any castle; their castle is for lack of a
better word; alive. The book, Wednesdays in the Tower, is another book that fits into several genres. It
is traditional literature. The story incorporates folkloric elements; it is a story meant to entertain. It
shares in the folktale criteria of being a beast tale, a main character in this book is Rufus; a griffin
which Celie, one of the princesses in the story hatched from an egg the castle gave her. Rufus has most
of his animal characteristics but he is decidedly opinionated much like a human would be. The story
also includes magic and wonder, because there is nothing normal about a castle, which when bored ...

The reader would miss a great deal of useful information explaining more about the characters and the
setting. I would use this book in the classroom if I were a teacher in the upper elementary school
grades, probably 4th or 5th grade. I would read it aloud as a class to both encourage them to read out
loud and discuss some of the thematic elements and what we would do if it were real, for example,
what would you do if your house decided to grow rooms because it was bored. I would also use this a
bedtime story with my kids. I would start with the first one and work through the series. I believe it s
appropriate enough for all of their ages they we could read it as a

Fake News Delivers In A Real Way Analysis
Fake News Delivers in a Real Way Fake news commentators are comedians. They come in each day
to work and take a look at the news and choose what will be the subject of their show for that evening.
With pen and paper in hand they sit down and study the news clips for anything they can find that
funny, wrong, off, hypocritical, biased, contradictory, brushed over, hidden, or twisted into sounding
good when it really is not. Most days the job entails poking a lot of fun at our government, our
political leaders, our corporations, our silly rules and laws. Some days though, the news is so horrific,
so scary, and so evil that jokes are just not appropriate from a human standpoint to be made. On nights
like these, fake news reporters deliver ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It just isn t that clear cut. DeMarco s report was short, brief, factual, and she clearly tried to hit on
several important topics. Stewart s report was more narrow and personal in nature. While DeMarco s
report may have had more facts, the question is was it actually effective? Did it make one want to stop
in their tracts and find out more? Did it move one to any action, or was it simply informative. I have
seen the traffic lady put more emotion in to her report each morning that DeMarco did hers. Perhaps it
was her way of trying to remain neutral to the situation, but it came across as cold and careless
instead. Her lack of emotion wouldn t make anyone stop in his or her tracks and pay attention. Stewart
s report on the other hand, made you stop everything you were doing and focus intently on the screen.
He made you think, question, and want to know more. His deliverance made you feel as if he was
reaching right through the screen grabbing you by the collar and trying to pull you across the line of
white ignorance. Neither news report was perfect, but then again who actually knows all the facts
perfectly? If the report is factual, honest, informative, has integrity, and moves you to action, that is a
news report well done. Stewart s report was one of the only reports that didn t have a center around his
own personal political agenda. He was excruciatingly honest and human and in the wake of this
unthinkable tragedy was just what the American people needed to

Astrology In The Knight s Tale Essay
In Chaucer s time, astrology was of great interest to many. Geoffrey Chaucer, in fact, wholeheartedly
believed in judicial astrology. Judicial astrology is the type of astrology that predicts the future.
Chaucer was a devout Catholic and believed strongly in freedom of the will, which is denied by
judicial astrology. However, he passionately believed in astrology, as well as classical mythology, both
of which he used metaphorically in his work. Chaucer s very popular work, The Canterbury Tales, is
filled with astrological, as well as astronomical, allegories. Some of these astrological references are
extremely evident to the reader, whereas some others are more discrete. The first tale in this collection,
The Knight s Tale, contains many of these astrological allegories. This tale is about a love triangle that
forms between two cousins, Palamoun and Arcite, with a lady named Emelye. When these cousins
discover that they have fallen for the same woman, negative feelings develop ... Show more content

Each house describes a specific field of experience. They indicate how a person functions in a number
of things such as their interactions with other people, their work, or their love affairs. On the day of
the battle, during the hour when Theseus struck out against Arcite, the hour of Saturn, Venus was in
the seventh house. Venus is represented by Palamoun, and the seventh house signifies peace and
marriage. Evidently, representing that Palamoun marries Emelye. Also, that he finds peace with Arcite
before he dies. Before Arcite passes, he tells Emelye that if she is going to marry someone, it should
be Palamoun, which represents the burying of the hatchet between the two cousins. In addition, after
the battle, specifically on May 8th, Venus and the Moon were in conjunction. Therefore, referring

Tax Revenue Is The Source Of Funding For Public Education
Tax revenue is the source of funding for public education. Taxes can be progressive or regressive,
depending on its impact on the taxpayer. A progressive tax is one in which the tax rate increases as
income does. The federal income tax structure is an example of a progressive tax. A Regressive tax is
one in which the tax rate is uniform and therefore, the regressive tax takes a larger percentage of
available funds from lower income individuals than from higher income individuals. Sales tax is an
example of a regressive tax. There are five local sources of income that schools rely on for revenue,
and there are advantages and disadvantages to each with respect to equity, yield, and acceptance.

23). One major difficulty with property tax is the valuation process itself. Sorenson and Goldsmith list
homestead exemptions, tax abatements, legal entanglements, taxpayer associations and
underassessments as reasons that taxes are not based on the full property value (p.23). In terms of
school funding, schools in wealthier communities are at an advantage over schools in economically
depressed areas, where property values are much lower. Sales tax is regressive in nature, and
dependent on taxpayers having enough confidence in the economy to spend their money. Sales tax is a
consistent form of revenue for school funding, however the yield is inconsistent as the tax is not
collected unless merchandise is purchased. Like the sales tax, the sin or sumptuary tax has an elastic
yield and is only as stable as the economy. The sin tax applies to tobacco, alcohol and gambling, and is
not considered a reliable source of public school funding (Sorenson Goldsmith, p. 23 2013). Sorenson
and Goldsmith describe the lottery as an assessment on legal gambling, and closely related to a sin tax.
The public perception is that a state lottery is an excellent source of funding for state education
programs, the reality is that the the lottery does nothing to fund educational initiatives. In fact, there is
no evidence that any state lottery has significantly supported or benefitted any school district or, for
that matter, public education in

Bed shopping is not as easy as eating pie. There s more to the task than merely selecting beds and
mattresses based on your kid s favourite colour, design and theme.
And because beds are not created equal, choosing one from the other can make a difference in your
child s health. A sturdy bed and quality mattress will guarantee your child s comfort and safety. It can
also help your kids get proper rest and sleep. Thus, giving them energy to face the day as well as
improving their overall health.

Also make sure to choose the bed that is suitable for your kid s body requirements.
Style
Beds and mattresses for children come in a range of colours and designs. For girls, the most popular
bedroom furniture colours are yellow and pink, while boys prefer blue, red and green. They also come
in various styles, from metal bedframes with plastic headboard to old fashion timber bed frames and
headboards. Bunk beds and loft beds are space savers. Choose either of these two, if your kid s room
is short on space. But if you have plenty of space, you can opt for a regular kid s bed. Beds may also
have other components such as built in drawers with matching bedroom furniture, such as desk, chairs
and cabinets. No matter what design or style of beds you choose, just make sure it complements the
overall them of the room.
Bottom Line
When you go bed shopping, remember all these essential factors to consider in choosing the right bed
for your kid. But if you want a bed designed with your kid s need in mind, you can also have one that
is customised. Here at Beds for Life, we offer custom made beds that will suit your kid s needs. You

Iraq Synthesis Essay
Our organization Nature Iraq does really important work to support the Mesopotamian Marshlands.
Our work has changed the environment for the better. For thousands of years, the marshlands
influenced the culture by Giving them a flooded marsh that has animals to hunt like fish for food.
Also, the marshes provide the culture with fresh water and trading goods that the culture makes. There
are reeds in the marshes that the people use to make houses and blankets so houses don t get cold.
Also, the reeds are used to feed their buffalo and make food. Many people in the marshlands will use
boats to get the reeds so they can transport the reeds to people who need them. They also can transport

He did that by putting big huge canals next to the marshlands and draining out all of the water to
dump it into the Persian Gulf. His plan worked because his plan was to make the reeds go away, the
animals, the food, and also the people. The plan was amazing architecture work that probably no one
would have thought of. He also attacked the marshland with big weapons like the holocausts by
destroying the people of the marshlands homes, and forcing the people leave because they don t have
any homes. So after all of that the marsh land were completely destroyed except for a very small part
of the marshlands, Which changed the culture because the marshes were almost like a desert and there
was no animals, plants, and water. So the marshlands went to 6,000 acres to 10% of that. Many of the
people were mad and sad because they didn t have their homes. And the culture didn t have their
animals, reeds, water, and homes so it was very desperate for the people of the

  • 2. The Importance of Improving Communication Skills in the... My biggest challenge while trying to move up the corporate ladder is interpersonal communication with co workers and presentation speeches in front of the owners and financial managers. During my childhood, I did not have the opportunity to communicate with my parents or examples of loud arguments and negative personal attacks. Humans develop language and social skills from its surroundings so I guess I can blame mine on my dysfunctional family. At least I did almost five years ago. When the Director of Finance promoted me to senior accountant, his only constructive criticism was to attend different communication courses to groom me for the Assistant Director of Finance position. The frustration of feeling misunderstood and being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even in the present day, people are judged by the color of their skin and in the corporate world by gender. I don t have to go far for a great example. In my corporate world, being a Caucasian woman is like fighting an uphill battle. No matter how many classes I complete, it does not stop others from asking and responding defensively or seeing me as a threat. Now, I find myself in a conflict with some of the male directors, which affects my emotions, mental state, and personal beliefs. It may be a result of an individual s perceptual and personal discomfort. Style, selective perception, halo effect, poor attention and retention, defensiveness, close mindedness, insufficient filtration are the Individual or Psychological barrier . (Jain, 2009) A list of the do s for breaking the barrier: Allow employees access to resources, self expression and idea generation. Industrial/Organizational Psychology Mod 2 Critical Thinking As former Director of Marketing for Monster.com, I am very familiar with the benefits and pitfalls of high volume/high quality recruiting. If I were conducting the extensive recruitment that the Borgata required, I would have done exactly the same thing and relied on outside expertise and technology to attain recruitment goals. As John Schadler of Hotel and Motel Management states: Instead of the traditional recruitment effort (the standard black and while, all text ad in Sunday s classified section), hotels and resorts are using colorful full page ads in lifestyle magazines, witty dialogue in radio advertising and dramatic visuals on outdoor billboards to attract the best ... Just prior to my being hired by Monster.com, Monster had experienced a huge problem with a similar recruiting effort for the Transportation Security Administration and we were still dealing with the aftermath. Rather than select Monster.com for help, Borgata chose a company that offered similar services named PeopleSoft and achieved satisfactory results (Business Wire, 2003.) Many factors go into the recruiting and screening of a large volume of applicants, particularly within a short time frame. While electronic media has certainly altered the landscape of recruiting, it would not be efficient to broadcast across millions in order to obtain suitable candidates. Obviously it is most cost and time effective to mine from applicants that already fit specific target demographics such as physical proximity to workplace, background and skills, etc. PeopleSoft at that time was a software driven company, but Monster.com as the largest database company in the world, had not only the software but also the capacity to specifically target the most appropriate demographics in order to enhance the quality of the recruitment by mining from their own ... Even in the early ages, dogs were deemed as sincere guardians and hunters. They have played a vital role in the history of warfare starting from ancient times. Dogs were used by Egyptians, Persians, Slavs, Romans and Greeks. The Molossus dog was thought to be the most powerful dog by the Romans and underwent intense training for war. The Romans and Greeks exploited dogs for the purpose of defense. During the Late Antuquity, Atilla the Hun used Molosser dogs. • 5. Stereotyping In Classroom I was surprised that the author felt the need to tell students to avoid stereotyping their professors. However, I felt this was a good point to mention, since making assumptions about people should have no part in the classroom. I was also surprised that the author seemed upset that students presumed her to be a nice person when she had clearly stated she was not a nice teacher on the syllabus. Hoping your professor is nice and understanding is not stereotyping; it is students expecting college to be like high school. I think the best piece of effort given by the author is to make the extra effort. The author advises that if you are given a chance to do another draft or lab, take it. • 6. Asia Minor Research Paper Asia Minor was known as Anatolia to the people of the ancient world. It was referred to as the land where the sun rises (Mark), by the Greeks. Throughout history, Asia Minor was occupied by several great empires and witnessed their rise and fall. It lay near the Mediterranean, Caspian, and Black seas and was the perfect spot for different groups to build their civilization on and trade with other regions. With all of the different cultures that invaded, each developed its own mythology. Anatolian communities began to develop agriculture in the 8th century B.C. The Anatolians became big trading partners with the people of Sumer due to their large supply of minerals and precious metals from the mountains. Later, at around 2000 B.C., the success of these river valleys attracted the Indo European tribe of the Hittites. The Hittite empire dominated for 450 years, conquered Babylon, and was even able to fight Egypt to a draw. The accomplishments of the Hittites survived in future advanced cultures like the use of iron and chariots in war. The Persians, Greeks, and Assyrians were a few of the peoples that later came to take the place of the Hittites. Around the time the Greeks came to power was where many of the greatest accomplishments were made. Two of the seven wonders of the world were built in Asia Minor. As a freshman in high school Hill (now going by L. Boogie) started Tranzlator Crew with Pras Michel. Later, Wyclef Jean replaced one of their original female singers and they renamed their band to the Fugees (inspired by the word refugee an offensive term for Haitian Americans) and focused mostly on genre bending in reggae, rock and soul. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, the narrator, plays a character with the most supportive of roles. Nick spends most of his time throughout the deceitful tale of Gatsby being a somewhat true friend to the main character, Jay Gatsby, earning the title of confidante when Gatsby feeds his personal life to the mouth that is Nick s lent ear. Nick also receives credence from many of the other characters. But for a soul like Nick, living in the 1920s doesn t seem to be his era. The 1920 s was an era for being easy going, partying, and investing in the stock market. An era such as this created a perfect setting for The Great Gatsby by using the dreamlike of the age to create the beautiful drama of Jay, Daisy, and Tom. What if I switched the option of pink clothes to turning into a rhinoceros? In the play Rhinoceros by Eugene Ionesco, the main character, Berenger, is introduced as a man who lacks interest in his image and responsibilities. You could say that he battles with the expectations of being an adult. We usually describe an adult to be seen as a person that is more responsible, has a job and knows their direction in life. Rather than pretending to be the common perception of an adult, Berenger is upfront about his feelings of resentment towards his job, not being responsible and finding no purpose in life except for his love for partner Daisy. Unlike his friends, he is true to his identity, and surpasses the will to turn into a rhinoceros. Contradictory to how his friends claim they were responsible, smart ... With storm troopers, political rallies and propaganda by his side, Hitler rapidly increased the Nazi Party between 1933 and 1937. His troops enforced rules and forced citizens to support him by causing destruction and threatening to do worse. As the play progresses, the rhinoceroses become superior and are seen as beautiful creatures. The characters believe in the mentality of a race being more dominant and acceptable. • 12. Historical Epidemiological Study Trends On The Causal... SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF HISTORICAL EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY TRENDS IN ESTABLISHING THE CAUSAL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HPV AND CERVICAL CANCER: For centuries, the etiology of cancer of the cervix remained unknown and there were several attempts by past scientists to establish the cause of cervical cancer without much success. However, the earliest breakthroughs came in the 1930s while Dr Richard Shope of the Rockefeller University was working on wild rabbits that had developed horn , which upon further analysis, was caused by a virus that could be transmitted. This discovery played a crucial part in the subsequent studies by Dr Zur Hausen (Cummings 2011). According to Moghissi and Mack (1968), one of the earliest epidemiological studies to probe into the relationship between sexual intercourse and cervical cancer involved prostitutes in a prison in the U.S whose exceptional social peculiarities bordered on sexual intercourse with multiple partners. This epidemiological study concluded by identifying early exposure to coitus and multiple sexual partners as the primary etiologic bases for the development of cancer of the cervix. In the classic research by Gagnon involving the study of 13,000 Canadian Nuns, he found no single case of cervical cancer (cited in Fenoglio 1982). This was a significant finding in that it concretized the association between sexual exposure and cancer of the cervix thereby paving the way for further descriptive studies to investigate the relationship. ... What is my role as a teacher in a classroom to ensure that students are given their rights per the first amendment? Where is religion s place in the classroom, or should it be welcome at all within the walls of public education? These are just a few questions that come to mind in context of religion and education when planning for my future classroom. Consequently, there are questions that remain unanswered when asked of instructors within the education program, due to fear of being incorrect or misleading. As a preservice teacher, I feel completely unprepared for when these issues arise in my classroom and have an uncomfortable feeling in regards of legality in terms of the situation. However, I am not naive to think that there is a definitive answer about what is right and wrong in terms of religion and public education. With this concept in mind, the intent of this paper is to create a descriptive protocol for teachers handle situations in the classroom that will neither suppress nor indoctrinate his/her students with religion of any shape or form. It is necessary to keep the argument pure by staying away from the discussion of what qualifies as religion. The empire was still recovering from the Great War and the Depression surprised many government officials. Soon enough, the government took emergency measures to balance the budget and restore confidence in the pound by issuing an emergency budget, which immediately instituted a round of cuts in public spending and wages. Public sector wages and unemployment pay were cut by 10%, and income tax was raised from 4s 6d to 5s in the pound. However, these measures were unsuccessful as unemployment rose and the gold standard dropped. After years of measures to combat against the depression, a slow recovery begun in 1934 because of the withdrawal from the gold standard and the devaluation of the pound. As a result, British exports became more competitive on world markets. During that period of recovery, Nazi Germany was born as Hitler took complete control of the country. Impact of metals increasing levels of heavy metals such as mercury and lead in the ground raise the risk of these leaking into the rivers, lakes and seas. All living things ultimately depend on this process. The compounds plants make during photosynthesis provide nutrients and energy to organisms that consume plants. Organisms that consume the plant eaters gain nutrients and energy from them, so both energy and materials are passed from organism to organism. Respiration: the process by which cells obtain energy. In this process, organic molecules, particularly sugars, are broken down to produce carbon dioxide and water, and energy is released. Without photosynthesis there would not be energy or carbohydrates available for the growth and reproduction of (almost) all organisms. Music/Sound also has a major influence in Edward Scissorhands . For instance in the segment of the movie where Edward has a flashback and the invention room is being showed you can hear the rhythmic thump to the machinery making cookies, this sound conveys to the audience a mysteriousness of the factory and the robots and questions what this has to do with Edward. In addition to this there is also a scene when Kim goes outside to see what Edward is doing and encounters him making snow from ice sculpture. She has never seen snow so when this interaction happens there is a melodic, angel music being placed with this scene. However when she ventures to close to Edward he accidentally slice her face ... Also in this paper I will be exploring Community food banks and what they do to provide food and nutrition to people in need in the U.S. There is a statement in our text that obesity results from over nutrition. Is this always true? Is it possible to be obese and lack adequate nutrition? Which foods contribute most to obesity? How nutritious are those foods? United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) What they do to provide food and nutrition to people in developing countries UNICEF was created in 1946 to provide relief to children in countries devastated by World War II. After 1950 the fund directed its efforts toward general programs for the improvement of children s welfare, particularly in less developed countries and in various emergency situations. The organization s broader mission was reflected in the name it adopted in 1953, the United Nations Children s Fund. UNICEF was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1965. • 21. The Pros And Cons Of Flag Burning On August 22, 1984, Gregory Lee Johnson was arrested for setting the U.S. flag on fire. His simple act of protest led to the Supreme Court ruling that flag burning is protected under the First Amendment as free speech, thus overturning his conviction. The flag symbolizes freedom, and part of that freedom is being able to express dissatisfaction with the government. However, some see flag burning not merely as a demonstration of opinion, but as an attack on national unity and American values. Should it be illegal to burn the U.S. flag as an form of protest, or is this method within the rights of American citizens? Concerning the outcome of Texas v. Johnson, Justice William Brennan delivered the opinion of the court: If there is a bedrock principle underlying the First Amendment, it is that government may not prohibit the expression of an idea simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or disagreeable. Flag burning may be offensive to loyal Americans, but it is not threatening enough by itself to justify punishment. Brennan also stated that we do not consecrate the flag by punishing its desecration, for in so doing we dilute the the freedom that this cherished emblem represents. In Johnson s case, the Supreme Court valued constitutional principles rather than patriotic preferences. The Supreme Court s stance on flag burning has remained the same since. Nevertheless, thirty years after United States v. Eichman, there is still controversy over whether or not it should be legal. A recent example of the present discussion on flag burning is a tweet made by President Donald Trump in 2016: Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag if they do, there must be consequences perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail! However, without a reason to change the law besides personal opinion, the Supreme Court is not likely to reverse their decision and make flag burning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The facility features a large parking lot with plenty of spaces for both employees and patrons. After entering the building, the location of the pool is not extremely clear; there are no signs directing patrons to the pool area. The production space is well lit by lights that are around the pool (but not above), and does not smell of overwhelming chlorine. The pool is 25 meters long with six lanes. The pool also has a shallow and deep end, with the shallowest point being four feet deep, and the deepest point being 13 ½ feet deep. The floor surrounding the pool is made of tile to prevent patrons from slipping and falling when the floor is wet. The walls surrounding the building are made of cinderblocks that were painted white. These types of walls tend to echo, so the ceiling and upper walls are lined with sound panels to reduce the extra noise. The temperature of the water falls anywhere between 80 and 83 degrees fahrenheit so patrons do not overheat when swimming. The air is also kept around 83 degrees to help keep patrons warm when they exit the water. Unfortunately, a master plan was unable to be located online or at the facility. It is a common thought that animals help each other expecting to gain something in return. But in some cases, helping is not linked to immediate returning benefits or these are inexistent. This type of behavior has caught the attention of psychologists interested in understanding the ideas and thoughts behind it. Can this be considered real altruism? Psychologists have been studying this issue suggesting different ideas to explain altruistic behavior. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evolutionary psychologists like Rushton (1991) argue how altruism is part of evolution that originates from genetic purposes. Most studies show that people would rather help a relative or a friend that they have known for a long time instead of someone they are not related or don t have a connection too. It is understandable that helping a relative or someone we have known for a while could be a normal thing and bring us benefit in some way, but it is hard to explain when people and animals show compassion for complete strangers. This apparent altruistic behavior suggests that real altruism does exist. To study this opinion some tried to look at the emotions and cognitive things that were happening to the person before they were helping this person. Piliavin, 1981, as cited in Hogg and Vaughan, 2008, suggested that the act of not helping someone in need could result in costing the people around them. These could be either an emphatic or of a personal nature. That is, the person helping someone may feel bad if choosing not to help someone. They did a study on three cognitive areas a person standing there goes through before knowing or thinking what the outcome may be from helping that person. First the person suffers from physiological arousal, which means to feel distressful or uncomfortable in the troubles of that person. Secondly, the person around this person needs to deal with this feeling. As explained by Vaughan and Hogg, this feeling alone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Chinese name is Sau Han and this is my immigration history. My family came to Canada for a job offer but mainly it was for a better life. I had to leave behind many loving family members in Hong Kong. We also left behind our old lives, furniture, car, apartment, and friends. Our journey began when we hopped on a JAL (Japan airlines) jumbo jet on a sixteen hour flight to Vancouver, British Columbia with a brief stop over in Tokyo, Japan. Everything looked foreign to us on our arrival. What we hoped in the future was to be able to learn English, to adapt to our foreign surroundings, to settle down in our new home, and to go back to visit our friends and relatives in Hong Kong. These challenges are just the first of many obstacles to be faced. This immigration was not just a new beginning for my family but also a window of opportunity for the next generation. We had an intriguing story of how we immigrated to Canada. My family consisted of myself, my mom and dad, my older brother, Chi Hung, my older sister, Sau Seng, and my younger brother, Chi Wai. Today there are policy barriers that prevent the expansion of telehealth, including reimbursement issues raised by Medicare and private payers, state licensure, and liability and privacy concerns. Rosen was not a formal skeptic in that he did not devise approaches or arguments to detect when evidences or beliefs did not support knowledge claims. I argue he was a skeptic in that he voiced concerns, doubts, about apparent evidence that supposedly supported particular beliefs, ideas, or dogmas. So his skepticism was based on evidence, on his conclusions that observation did not match theory, regardless of how dearly the theory was held by others. What Rosen certainly was not, was a denier. As in the individual that simply denies something without regard to evidence, an evolution of life did not happen type of denier. Rosen was lumped into the pattern cladist school that was characterized by Beatty (1982) as being antievolution (Carpenter 1987), thus possibly considered a denier. Brady (1982), among many others (e.g. Patterson 1982; Platnick 1982, Carpenter, 1987) rescued pattern cladistics from the misinterpretation of Beatty. Regardless, if we are stuck with the assumption that the evolution of life followed a strictly neo Darwinian process, then what other ideas are left to explore when inconsistencies crop up? That was Rosen s position as a skeptic, asking can we do cladistics without a neo darwinian covering theory? And so, we see that as his inhibiting assumption ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Butler shows how difficult language us useful, but I disagree with her overall claim. I do not think that intricate wording is needed for a logical point to be made. Butler begins by explaining how scholars, whose work topics focus on he humanities, are accused of bad writing by the journal Philosophy and Literature. She believes that intellectuals in such fields should explain how their work interplays in everyday life, but that these intellectuals should also create new ways of looking at the world. • 39. Chronic Asthma Asthma Asthma is one of the most prevalent respiratory diseases. It is a chronic condition with recurring, exacerbations characterized by bronchial hyper responsiveness and inflammation leading to airflow obstruction (Cabana, et al., 2014). Over time, the chronic inflammation may cause permanent damage to the airway (Wenzel, 2012). Asthma affects people of all ages but typically begins in childhood (Wenzel, 2012). This paper will explore the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation. Additionally, it will cover how age and behavior can impact the pathophysiology and influence the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Finally, mind maps will illustrate, visually, the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment of both the chronic and acute phase of asthma. Chronic vs. Acute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In most cases it starts in childhood or early adulthood. However, it can happen later in life. Unlike childhood asthma, adult onset asthma often has persistent symptoms (Wenzel, 2012). A large percentage of adult onset asthma is brought on by allergies (Levy, et al., 2014). Childhood asthma can lie dormant for a number of years and reappear in late adulthood (Wenzel, 2012). Asthma may show symptoms of other diseases in an adult such as heart failure, COPD, rheumatic arthritis or stomach problems (Levy, et al., 2014). Therefore, age will have the greatest impact on diagnosis. A nurse practitioner must be aware of how adult onset asthma may mimic symptoms of other expected age related ailments. As a larger portion of adult onset asthma is initiated by allergies, acute pathophysiology may more closely resemble that of allergies (Levy, et al., 2014). Treatment For Adult Male Sex Offenders Arianna Heard Althea Gross Marquez McClinton Alabama A M University Social Work Applied Research I Treatment for Adult Male Sex Offenders October 27, 2014 Dr. Chacha Abstract Introduction The reason for this study is to explain the different types of treatment for adult male sex offenders. The reason for conducting this research is the interest in getting these offenders effective treatment. Literature Review History of Sex Offender Treatment Until the mid 1980s the treatment of sex offenders was conducted primarily in civil commitment programs in a few state hospitals, prisons, and outpatient clinics scattered around the country. Sex offenders were often treated using a variety of psychodynamic and client centered techniques. A major shift in the field came in 1983 with the publication of an article that presented for the first time a relapse prevention model designed for sexual offenders (Pithers, Marques, Gibat, Marlatt, 1983). Pithers and Marques adapted the work pioneered by Marlatt for alcoholics. Relapse prevention is essentially a self control model that teaches the individual to identify and recognize a unique pattern of thoughts, feelings, and situations that precede and lead to relapses. Relapse in the case of sex offenders is a re offense. This pattern has a signature quality to it. It is tailored to the cognitive, affective, and situation markers that are unique for each individual. Once the pattern is fully understood, the individual learns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Tuesdays In The Tower Book Report Many young children dream of living in a castle. A castle is a key part of many fairy tales, whether they have a princess locked up in a tower, a terrible dragon inside which must be defeated, or the castle is the home where a royal family resides. In Wednesdays in the Tower, by Jessica Day George, the royal family indeed lives in a castle. They do not live in just any castle; their castle is for lack of a better word; alive. The book, Wednesdays in the Tower, is another book that fits into several genres. It is traditional literature. The story incorporates folkloric elements; it is a story meant to entertain. It shares in the folktale criteria of being a beast tale, a main character in this book is Rufus; a griffin which Celie, one of the princesses in the story hatched from an egg the castle gave her. Rufus has most of his animal characteristics but he is decidedly opinionated much like a human would be. The story also includes magic and wonder, because there is nothing normal about a castle, which when bored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 42. Fake News Delivers In A Real Way Analysis Fake News Delivers in a Real Way Fake news commentators are comedians. They come in each day to work and take a look at the news and choose what will be the subject of their show for that evening. With pen and paper in hand they sit down and study the news clips for anything they can find that funny, wrong, off, hypocritical, biased, contradictory, brushed over, hidden, or twisted into sounding good when it really is not. Most days the job entails poking a lot of fun at our government, our political leaders, our corporations, our silly rules and laws. Some days though, the news is so horrific, so scary, and so evil that jokes are just not appropriate from a human standpoint to be made. On nights like these, fake news reporters deliver ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It just isn t that clear cut. DeMarco s report was short, brief, factual, and she clearly tried to hit on several important topics. Stewart s report was more narrow and personal in nature. While DeMarco s report may have had more facts, the question is was it actually effective? Did it make one want to stop in their tracts and find out more? Did it move one to any action, or was it simply informative. I have seen the traffic lady put more emotion in to her report each morning that DeMarco did hers. Perhaps it was her way of trying to remain neutral to the situation, but it came across as cold and careless instead. Her lack of emotion wouldn t make anyone stop in his or her tracks and pay attention. Stewart s report on the other hand, made you stop everything you were doing and focus intently on the screen. He made you think, question, and want to know more. His deliverance made you feel as if he was reaching right through the screen grabbing you by the collar and trying to pull you across the line of white ignorance. Neither news report was perfect, but then again who actually knows all the facts perfectly? If the report is factual, honest, informative, has integrity, and moves you to action, that is a news report well done. Stewart s report was one of the only reports that didn t have a center around his own personal political agenda. He was excruciatingly honest and human and in the wake of this unthinkable tragedy was just what the American people needed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Astrology In The Knight s Tale Essay In Chaucer s time, astrology was of great interest to many. Geoffrey Chaucer, in fact, wholeheartedly believed in judicial astrology. Judicial astrology is the type of astrology that predicts the future. Chaucer was a devout Catholic and believed strongly in freedom of the will, which is denied by judicial astrology. However, he passionately believed in astrology, as well as classical mythology, both of which he used metaphorically in his work. Chaucer s very popular work, The Canterbury Tales, is filled with astrological, as well as astronomical, allegories. Some of these astrological references are extremely evident to the reader, whereas some others are more discrete. The first tale in this collection, The Knight s Tale, contains many of these astrological allegories. This tale is about a love triangle that forms between two cousins, Palamoun and Arcite, with a lady named Emelye. • 44. Tax Revenue Is The Source Of Funding For Public Education Tax revenue is the source of funding for public education. Taxes can be progressive or regressive, depending on its impact on the taxpayer. A progressive tax is one in which the tax rate increases as income does. The federal income tax structure is an example of a progressive tax. A Regressive tax is one in which the tax rate is uniform and therefore, the regressive tax takes a larger percentage of available funds from lower income individuals than from higher income individuals. Sales tax is an example of a regressive tax. There are five local sources of income that schools rely on for revenue, and there are advantages and disadvantages to each with respect to equity, yield, and acceptance. Property tax, income tax, sales tax, sin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 23). One major difficulty with property tax is the valuation process itself. Sorenson and Goldsmith list homestead exemptions, tax abatements, legal entanglements, taxpayer associations and underassessments as reasons that taxes are not based on the full property value (p.23). In terms of school funding, schools in wealthier communities are at an advantage over schools in economically depressed areas, where property values are much lower. Sales tax is regressive in nature, and dependent on taxpayers having enough confidence in the economy to spend their money. Sales tax is a consistent form of revenue for school funding, however the yield is inconsistent as the tax is not collected unless merchandise is purchased. Like the sales tax, the sin or sumptuary tax has an elastic yield and is only as stable as the economy. The sin tax applies to tobacco, alcohol and gambling, and is not considered a reliable source of public school funding (Sorenson Goldsmith, p. 23 2013). Sorenson and Goldsmith describe the lottery as an assessment on legal gambling, and closely related to a sin tax. The public perception is that a state lottery is an excellent source of funding for state education programs, the reality is that the the lottery does nothing to fund educational initiatives. In fact, there is no evidence that any state lottery has significantly supported or benefitted any school district or, for that matter, public education in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
