Working Title: A Fugitive in Paris.
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience: This short story is aimed primarily at middle-class male and female readers,
ranging from 25-44 years of age, as these individuals are more likely to dedicate their time
to listening to a murder mystery or a sci-fi story, should the premise of the story change
along with the genre. However, I am also determined to ensure that this story is accessible
to people of all ages and, to that end, a secondary audience of senior readers (45 years
onwards), young adults (19-24) and teenagers(13-18) will be included, for those who are
looking for a good story to listen to. Children may listen to the story as well, but only at
their parents' discretion.
Having read one or two Agatha Christie novels as well asa couple of Sherlock Holmes
books in the past, I feel that my murder mystery should appeal to audiences of all agesas
they do but not to the point where it slavishly follows their storytelling formula. To ensure
this, I plan to create a lead character who, as he or she goes on the run across Paris,
begins to untangle the web behind the conspiracy he is trapped in, thereby merging the
roles of detective and fugitive into one singular character.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words): Having created a couple of similar audio projects at York
College, such as an audio documentary and a ghost story, I feel that I have the necessary
experience to record the story relying on a script that I have created, to be used as a
blueprint for the finished project and edit the finished product (extending or cutting out
sections where necessary) on Adobe Premier Pro. However, owing to circumstances
beyond my control, as I do not have access to Premier from my laptop or the Chromebook I
will primarily be using, I have ultimately decided to improvise by downloading a compatible
version of GarageBand for both softwares. This will then be used to record and edit the
final piece together.
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words): The concept of my project is an audio-based short
story which is currently set to be recorded as a whodunit set in Paris, France during the
waning years of the 19th century. While I have yet to write the script and fully map out the
plot, I have already planned the ending to be set at the top of the Eiffel Tower during the
last confrontation between the protagonist and antagonist, respectively. As I have access
to both Microsoft Word and Notepad on my main laptop, I plan to use both of these to
create the script: the latter to draft the script from its initial stages to final premise, while
the former will carry the final version of the script.
To ensure that I fully understand how a crime story (or murder mystery) works, I intend to
look at examplesof crime stories, both obvious and not-so-obvious alike, including but not
limited to Agatha Christie (possibily Poirot), Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes) or BBC
Radio 4 true crime story programme Manhunt: Finding Kevin Parle to name a few examples,
as inspiration which will eventually lead to the creation of what will hopefully become not
just a thought-provoking story but a daring one as well.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project?

Evaluation (approx. 50 words): To properly evaluate my finished product, as with previous
projects, I plan to keep a journal throughout every stage of production from the initial script
draft to the final edit. After I have completed this, I will review what I feel went well and what
could have gone better as well as observing any similarities and differences this product
may have with others.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
