1. Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
I am planningto create an audio documentary on
watching wildlife andwhy we, as humans, are
fascinated by it.
Why have youdecided to makeit? Having been a member of Wildwatch for nearly
four years, I have become passionateever since
aboutpreservingand lookingfor wildlife in the
mostobscure of places.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
With a new lockdownin place across the entire
country, I feel it is importantthat we all
understandthathopeand joy can be foundin the
simplestof things, suchas trees, birdsor insects.
Outline someof the initial influences onyour
idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isn’t justa paperbased
activity)
While I have notyet decided uponwhich aspectof
nature I wantto focus on, I have nonetheless
been listening to a few audio documentariesas
well as watching a few clips from a classic David
Attenboroughdocumentary, whichwill help to
inform the final direction of my product. These
include:
Discovery – Birds: Singingfor Survival(BBC
Sounds)
Home Birds (BBC Four)
The Blue Planet - DavidAttenborough (BBC One)
Africa – DavidAttenborough (BBC One)
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
When the audience views or, more accurately,
listens to my finished product, I hope thatthe
material I have created is thought-provokingand
informative and causes themto ask themselves,
“How I can express my own interest in wildlife?”
as I feel people’sinterests in nature are often
expressed in different ways.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
The tone of my finished productwill be an
optimisticlook onwildlife and the future, as I feel
to focus solely onhumanity’simpactonthe planet
anddestructionof wildlife. To this end, I hope to
interview othersat least two or three individuals
who havehad experience as part of the St Nick’s
Fields Wildwatch group.
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
I havedeliberately chosento structuremy project
in this way to demonstrateandexplore the
therapeutic value wildlife watching has onpeople
andhow, in the wake of the coronavirus
pandemic, it has capturedour attentionmore
thanever before.
