1) Researchers from Nepal describe a new species of plant from the genus Ziziphus found in central Nepal.
2) The plant is a small tree up to 10 meters tall with dimorphic branches, some with long spines and some without. It has ovate leaves with a notched apex.
3) Flowers are creamy white and occur in small cymes on peduncles up to 10 mm long. Fruits are yellow-brown and spherical, 1.5-2.5 cm in diameter, containing 2 seeds.
4) Based on its distinct morphological characteristics, the researchers determine it is a new species, Ziziphus budhensis, endemic to central Nepal.
