The AOTRAUMA network aims to foster and expand a global network of healthcare professionals through education, research, development and clinical investigation to improve patient care worldwide. It is the largest clinical division of the AO Foundation, with over 7,800 members organized into five regional boards. AOTRAUMA prioritizes education through backwards-planned and competency-driven curricula. It also focuses on community development by communicating its portfolio, fostering knowledge exchange, and motivating active member involvement. AOTRAUMA consists of surgeons, researchers and operating room personnel dedicated to improving musculoskeletal trauma and orthopedic care globally.

The TWAS Regional Office for sub-Saharan Africa (TWAS-ROSSA) is hosted by the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) and aims to enhance the visibility of TWAS, identify eminent scientists for membership and awards, assess TWAS activities in the region, and organize activities in critical science and technology areas. TWAS-ROSSA provides networking opportunities, prizes, and fellowships for young scientists and has over 108 Fellows and 50 Young Affiliates across sub-Saharan Africa. Science academies are independent organizations that bring together eminent scientists to advance scientific knowledge and provide evidence-based science advice to address national and global challenges.

The portal specifically addresses the lack of professional development opportunities for health professionals involved in SCI management due to the limited access of current training and learning materials. The content has been developed by 332 leading professionals and educationists working in the field of SCI from around the world and reflects realities in both high and low resource settings. The content has been validated and supported by contemporary research and is of significant relevance to students new to the field of SCI, practitioners, and to the consumers with SCI and their families. The educational resource comprises seven modules, each consisting of detailed sub-modules that provide comprehensive insight into the topics. The "Overview for the Whole Team" module provides basic information of SCI Management for all disciplines. Five modules cater to the individual clinical needs of Doctors; Nurses; Physiotherapists; Occupational Therapists/Assistive Technologists; and Psychologists/Social Workers/Peer Counselors. The seventh module is devoted to the key topic of prevention of SCI, intended primarily for policy makers and government officials.
