It will reinvigorate the depleting workforce and raise safety standards across industry.Up to 3500 workers to be trained at TUCACrossrail is committed to apprenticeships as a valuable route to employment. More than 400 apprenticeships will be created through the Crossrail supply chain.To date over 195 apprenticeships have been created on the project.

It is vital that companies from right around the UK continue to make the most of the tens of thousands of business opportunities that will arise over the course of the project. CRL embarking on a series of national and regional engagement events in the coming months to promote CRL supply chain opportunities.2 in 5 supply chain opportunities are being picked up by companies outside London and South East.Almost 60% of CRL supply chain organisations are SMEsCRL has let some of the largest value contracts in recent UK construction history – providing a much needed boost to UK industry and creating major employment opportunities. During the construction phase alone, Crossrail will generate thousands of jobs, it will also draw upon the services of manufacturers and other suppliers based throughout the UK.
- #24 Crossrail Supply Chain is wide and complex – example to demonstrate the number of opportunities generated by CRL in the supply chain.This is a real example of how one Crossrail contract (C503 – Liverpool St Stn. Advance Works) let to a major Tier 1 contractor (VINCI) leads to multiple supply chain opportunities.The Tier 1 contractors seeks a subcontractor at tier 2.The tier 2 subcontractor requires 12 different tier 3 organisations to provide the with goods and services to fulfil their order.Some of these tier 3 supplier require tier 4 suppliers.The net result is that in this example one tier 2 subcontract results in 19 further UK supply chain opportunities (other examples show greater or lesser multipliers down to tier 5!).97% of Crossrail opportunities are being met within the UK supply chain.The majority of the tier 2 contracts are yet to be procured leaving many UK supply chain opportunities available to UK businesses.
