The need for an efficient Water Management System (WMS) is strongly felt by water  utilities, municipalities and by medium to large scale corporates that have to face every day with  problems dealing with water usage and supply [1]. Leveraging a sensor data network, an automated  system to implement fault detection in a water network at an early stage can be a valuable tool that  saves water, energy, time and money. This paper introduces a novel FDD (fault detection and  diagnosis) approach for water networks developed within the FP7 Waternomics Project by modeling  a water network in the simulation environment EPANET and applying an anomaly detection  algorithm named ADWICE (Anomaly Detection With fast Incremental ClustEring) [2] to real time  data of water flow and pressure to infer performance and operational anomalies. The method is  currently being implemented at the Linate Airport water network in Milan, and initial results are  presented in this paper.

Outre la crise sanitaire, l’électrification, l’essor de la mobilité douce, l’automatisation de la conduite et la digitalisation, la décarbonisation du secteur automobile s’impose comme une des lignes de force à l’horizon 2030-2035. Ces transformations posent de nombreux défis techniques, juridiques ou sociologiques pour lesquels des solutions restent à trouver. En particulier, le livre blanc a identifié le développement des véhicules à hydrogène comme un des axes importants de la relance et de la décarbonisation des transports dans la Grande Région. Les constructeurs voient dans l’hydrogène un axe prometteur pour les véhicules lourds et les véhicules utilitaires. L’émergence de cette nouvelle motorisation va de paire avec la mise sur pied de la filière de production d’hydrogène vert et avec l’installation d’un réseau de distribution. Comment cette technologie sera-t-elle intégrée par l’industrie automobile européenne ? Quelles sont les opportunités pour les PME et la recherche universitaire ? This document provides information about the FRACTALS project, which aims to support SMEs and web entrepreneurs in developing innovative applications for the agricultural sector using FI-WARE infrastructure. FRACTALS will run an open call to fund 50-60 sub-projects from SMEs, offering grants of €50,000-€150,000 each. Successful applicants will receive technical support and have their applications validated through a living lab. The open call will launch on November 30th 2014, with a deadline of February 28th 2015 for applications to be evaluated. Eligible projects must integrate FI-WARE technologies and be in areas like enhancing farm productivity, accessing markets, or improving public services.

Smart Neighborhoods speak EEBUS. The aim of the workshop is to demonstrate how EEBUS enables an industrial approach for residential energy management by providing standardized device communication and energy management use cases. Hence, a lock-in into proprietary manufacturer specific communication can be avoided. This enables cost effective scalability, replication, and commissioning of energy management solutions at target markets. EEBUS provides transparency and access to all energy relevant devices and thus transforms them into flexible resources for demand response. Single households become the core elements of Smart Neighborhoods and consequently of Smart Grids. The continuously evolving technology is open to further use cases and therefore facilitates the integration of other domains to the REnnovates technical platform – such as E-Mobility which is already managed through EEBUS or grid interaction.

The SmartH2O Technology

SmartH2O

The SmartH2O project receives EU funding to develop technology for improving water efficiency through new business partnerships between water utilities and customers. The project aims to turn smart meter water consumption data into a business intelligence tool to help utilities predict demand, optimize operations, and foster sustainable customer behavior. The technology includes a gamified consumer portal, data analytics for customer segmentation and behavioral change, and serious games for customer engagement. The system has been in alpha testing and will be deployed in London, Valencia, and other locations in 2016-2017.

FERTINNOWA:Transfer of INNOvative techniques for sustainable WAter use in FERtigated crops

This document summarizes several projects that received funding from the European Union to develop and demonstrate technologies for improving water and nutrient use efficiency in soil-grown crops. It describes 9 showcase projects from different partners across Europe that tested sensors, decision support tools, and other technologies for more precise irrigation management and reduction of overfertilization. The projects monitored soil moisture, nutrients, and plant parameters in various crops like tomatoes, peppers, olives and more to optimize fertigation according to real-time crop needs.
